J&S is a neighborhood staple that serves the Morgan section of Sayreville and South Amboy. Their pizza is classic metropolitan football pizza, but their menu goes beyond that classic. What I mean by this is that we can get the kids their favorite plain cheese pizza and mozzarella sticks while Mom & Dad can enjoy a specialty pie like the Vodka Fresh Mozzarella Pan Pizza with toppings! My older son has identified what he considers his favorite Cheesesteak here and it's simply a "Wiz without", steak and cheese wiz on a crusty yet soft hero roll (I refuse to say hoagie). I have been known to steal a bite. Can confirm the garlic knots and mozzarella sticks are great. They do have some specialty pies too - honey mustard chicken, BBQ chicken ranch. Also, do not sleep on their Chicken Vodka Parm Hero because it's delicious. This is one of my wife's guilty pleasures for sure. I will say that the J&S Upside down Sicilian pizza is a great change of pace if you are looking to try something new. This square pie has a crispy crust reminiscent of a Detroit style pizza (basically some well-done cheese on the crust). Since the sauce is on top, the cheese basically melts into the dough making it a very pleasant balance of soft and crunchy. Lastly, you must try their Zeppole's. They are fantastic and will bring you back to the summer nights spent at the carnival or walking the boardwalk. I did a local pizza tasting and this is by far the best pizza in South Amboy. I would say it is definitely top 10 in Monmouth County. The crust is perfect. It offers a good ratio of crunch to flop. Cheese and sauce is decent. read more

I reside 3 blocks from this business, had no issues with service or food the few times I've been there, until yesterday 6/4/2024, I walked in front and back doors were open, and the pizza pies they had on display were packed with flíes... I had order 2 slices but seen how many flies were on top of the pies, I was hesitant to tell the girl to forget it, so I paid $7.50 took the pizza and put it in my trash, I'm sorry but that was a horrible experience, will not buy there again... ‍ My question to the owners and worker, would you eat those pizzas after all those flies were eating it? read more

Ordered pizza today for my class and They loved it! The man on the phone was polite and the delivery was prompt. They have a deal, 2 plain pies, garlic knots and soda for $20. I know I'm a New Yorker pizza snob but this might possibly be the worst pizza I have had in New Jersey. Cracker type crust, oily, tasteless cheese, just not worth the calories, we threw it out. Never even tasted the calzone because they use the same crust, which made it look more like an empanada then a calzone, couldn't even bring ourselves to ..I wish them luck, but we won't waste our money again. read more

We decided to try a local pizzeria for a quick dinner. We ordered a white pie, penne vodka, garlic knots, and chicken parm sub. Everything we ate with the exception of the garlic knots were awesome. Food portions are very generous, pricing is reasonable and staff is friendly and helpful. We ordered delivery and it did take over an hour but all of our food arrived fresh and hot so no complaints there. We will definitely be coming back and ordering again in the future. read more

Checked these guys out on Halloween after I got trapped in the office until about 8. I was not in a good mood. Ordered on yelp and it said 20-30 min. Got there in 25 and had to wait a bit, but not terrible. I had a slice of plain while I waited, because the slices in the window looked old and weird. They were round pies, but thick... didn't seem to be Sicilian, I thought maybe deep dish? Odd. While I waited I did a slice of plain, regular pizza and got 3 drinks. The solo slice was ok- nice and crisp out of the oven, but didn't have too much flavor in the cheese or sauce. The slice and 3 drinks cost me over $9, which I thought was pretty steep. We did some wings, but do yourself a favor and skip those. Breaded and terrible. The hot wing sauce was pretty good, but not enough to cover-up the garbage quality of wing they are serving up. I've been on this kick lately at pizza shops where I get an order of meatballs and garlic knots and make myself sliders. These garlic knots were too small to pull that off. Also, the bottoms were nice and toasty, but the middles were almost raw, so that was impressively bad. The meatballs were huge and not particularly flavorful. They tasted old. So on to the main event, a vodka sauce Sicilian pizza. We got a medium, and it was round and cut in triangle slices. That was a first for me. The crust was not quite thick enough, and was a bit floppy from the triangle construction. The cheese slid off the crust when you took a bite... it was just a mess. Flavor wise, not terrible, but not great either. Overall, 1 and done here. read more

I finally got around to go eat fresh slices here, usually pizza night in my house I work late and I don't think it's fair for me to judge a pizza place based off me reheating it in my toaster oven. They give you such huge slices and they are absolutely delicious! Everything is perfect! I don't review often unless it's needed...We bought our first home around the corner from J&S. We ordered slices first, second time was slices and garlic bread with vodka sauce (amazing!), third was 5 pizzas for friends, 4th time was pizza delivered for other friends. And now we've graduated to entree's...it's all delicious! I drive by this place all the time . Heard it had good pizza . So I walk in doesn't look to busy but their running around . Order 2 slices of their upside down pizza . Just OK but it's a reheat so that's what it is . I guess it's a husband and wife team. She doesn't look too happy he's a angry pizza maker . Not a pretty picture . They got the kids there so I guess some tension . Two slices and a root beer 9.03 I give her 20.00 she gives me back 10.97. There is lots of competition all around for pizza . I've pretty much tried all of the local pizzerias in the area except this one until today. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, so when I saw the sign saying "A Taste of Brooklyn" I had to check it out. I ordered a plain large pie just to see if it met up to my expectations and I must say I was pleasantly surprised! The pizza was delicious and really did have that Brooklyn taste. It wasn't the best I've had but it was much better than many of the other local places. The sauce was just right, the slices were pretty large, thin and crispy with a fair amount of cheese. The dough even had those "bubbles" I remember from my NY slices. I really hope this place stays around as many other pizzerias around here have shut down for various reasons. If you are in the mood for some pretty good Pizza with that Brooklyn taste, this place is definitely worth checking out. The staff is friendly and the prices are pretty good too!
