Pizza slices are good, but quite expensive (the plain cheese is over $4). Everything else is equally overpriced and not even worth it for the taste-- the best thing out of my meal plate was the baked potato. Meat was tender, yet full of small bits of gristle that made it difficult to eat (I got the rib tips). BBQ sauce was nice and flavorful, but I asked for 2 extra sauces and only received 1. The "torpedo bread" is dry and bland. Coleslaw was disgusting. Garden salad was fresh and the tiramisu was delicious, however, rather small portions for the steep price tag. I am truly in awe of some of these restaurants. I ordered a pizza at 5:45pm and had to call several times to find out the location of my pizza. My husband and I were told at 7:01pm that we were the next stop and it would arrive any minute. The pizza arrived at 7:32pm by the time the food arrived I had spoken to the restaurant several times. They are no more than 15 mins away from my apartment. I cannot imagine what level of traffic, restaurant being busy, etc that would have them take nearly 2 hrs to deliver my food. I didn't realize that Tuesday was the busiest night for them. The pizza itself wasn't ice cold which I would expect if it's been sitting in a car for over an hour trying to get delivered. The pizza was good as usual but I cannot see myself rushing to order from J.B. for the time being. I hope they get more consistent with getting the food to you because I would definitely recommend trying out the pizza. I am not a fan of the wings. I truly don't know if they are fried because they are not crunchy. I will continue my search for my go-to pizza spot. read more

I have been going to JBs since I was 7 years old. I never thought I would say I'll never go again. My family got 3 pizzas. My son who picks apart his pizza and eats the cheese separate from the bottom was about to eat this piece when I saw something brown. I looked in the light and sure enough it was a cockroach. I immediately called the store to notify. I was told I had to speak to the manager on duty. Someone picked up the phone and said " yes how can I help you" I explained what I found and he said again " okay how can I help you" and I realized he did not care at all about a cockroach in the pizza. I said " well I thought you guys should know what's in your pizza so you can correct the issue. And he said " do you want a free pizza" I said " no I'm not eating from here ever again, this isn't a joke. You clearly don't care or this is something that is normal for you. I am amazed by your response." He said " okay well I refunded you" and I just explained that is not why I was calling. I think they should genuinely know what's inside their food. Super disappointed in this response & since I don't feel confident that this is being handled at all I thought I should share to the public. read more

I have enjoyed J.B. Alberto's pizza in various situations, and it is always a satisfying bite. There really are only a handful of seats in the establishment, so you usually take your thick slice of pizza to go. I have also enjoyed the saucy sausage pizza at a street fair, as well as the thin crust pizza at a catered event. I have not tried any of their other food items, but you cannot go wrong with the pizza. I imagine I would be a regular at "JB" if I lived in Rogers Park. read more

Some places load their pizza with mounds of flavorless cheese. The sausage is very "Chicago" in the most complimentary way. There's something different about Chicago pizza sausage. Both traditional and cup pepperoni are offered as well. The sauce has a nice tang and subtle sweetness. I'm not a huge fan of the crust. It's not bad, but a little doughy and a little thicker than I prefer. .. Nice buttery flavor though. Prices are on the higher end especially considering the neighborhood. Ok, I think I'm ready to give my rating. ..all things considered I've settled at 3.49 stars. Rounding up for consistency, efficient service, and respect for their cult-like following. The last couple of times I have gotten pizza, it's been lukewarm and not hot. When you get pizza, the steam should be seen as you open the box. I've had it delivered and it was barely warm and I picked it when it was supposedly coming out the oven and still warm. It also taste bland and the crust is chewy. Got delivery from this place last night. Have had their pizza at friends places a hundred times, but wanted to try the deliciousness myself. I ordered a ribeye steak sandwhich and a thin slice pepperoni. Both were divine. I've had their pizzas but this single slice hit a bit different. It was a pretty big traditional sliced pizza slice. The cheese was meaty, pepperoni crispy, the pizza itself that moderately greasy feel we've grown to love. Bravo The ribeye steak sandwich was pretty delicious on its own. The steak was perfectly cooked and juicy/tender and the garlic bread and toppings were a very awesome addition. The only qualm I have are the steak fries, but even those I'd do 4/5 cause they had a good taste to them. Love this place and can't wait to order again! read more

I live in Rogers Park. I frequent JB Alberto's. They have very good and saucy thin crust pizza but sometimes you want other things. Their salads are really good and I would recommend Garlic Dressing. Sometimes I just want some pasta and the marinara sauce is delicious. I have even tried a Italian Beef and considered it very good as well. If you want something like fried perch that is also available and good. Delivery in the area always seems to be rapid.
