This is THE BEST pizza in Chicago. Forget Giordano's. Forget Rosati's. Forget Pizzeria Uno. This is the good stuff. It's for takeout only, so keep that in mind, but if you are heading to the lake, or live in the area it's so convenient to grab a few slices and go. If you're having a party, I highly recommend THE GIANT. This is one of the biggest pizzas I've ever seen! It could easily feed six people for an evening. I can see why this is a neighborhood staple. I have been eating J.B. Alberto's pizza since 1972. My children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, have all cut their teeth on this pizza so much so, it's the only pizza they will eat. My grandgirl asked me to order her pizza from "ugh" don't want to say but I told her not! She insisted so I said ok I'm gonna get Alberto's and she said, ok I'll try it. She lives in Wisconsin, every time she's here, she must have Alberto's. I recently ordered a pizza w/fries. I received a "dumpster dive dining" order. The pizza was undercooked, like it was passed by a lighter. The fries were made from rotten potatoes. They were black speckled inside. The skin on the potatoes were black and wrinkly, it was disgusting. I am no longer a customer after this. Not only disappointed but totally shocked that it was boxed and packaged. Pizza is one of the most important things for me in this universe. I mean that. I live down the block from JB Alberto and I cannot tell you the number of times I've taken advantage of the fact that it's right off of the Morse stop en route to my apartment. Honestly, on a late night when I don't want to cook, or I need pizza, I'll stop in for a slice or two. I usually get either two slices of their deep cheese or two slices of thin cheese with a side of bleu cheese (YES bleu cheese, sorry Midwesterners :p). The sauce to mozzarella ratio is always really spot-on and that's such an important feat to master, you know? The sauce has great flavor as well. Have to give it 4 stars because I come from Buffalo where pizza is a perfected art, so the fact that it's rated so high should speak volumes people. JB Alberto's is it. I had read reviews about the delivery issues and was hesitant but this place has been recommended to me so many times since I moved to Chicago that I wanted to give them a shot. I ordered online--it said delivery in an hour. My delivery driver showed up exactly 1 hour from when I placed my order! I was pleasantly surprised and he was very friendly. The pizza--It's a great pie. I'm really satisfied with my order, I chose to get the sausage pie as everyone mentions how delicious the Chicago sausage is. They're not wrong. Once again, I had a random issue with this place. This time around i was given a pizza that didn't look the right size(Saturday evening), problem is the company I had over went through half the pizza before I realized it. The next day I noticed the driver had given me the wrong ticket for the wrong sized pizza. I didn't want a free pizza or my money back or anything but when I called back today (Sunday) to explain the situation but the "manager" got straight up RUDE and combative on the phone and chose to argue as though he knew for sure that there was an error even though I'd barely explained the issue. People in this neighborhood and the surrounding areas deserve better business than this. Or maybe its just me. I really hope I can speak to the actual manager of this establishment to straighten out this issue because no customer should be spoken to the way the person spoke to me on the phone. Ordered online and was given an estimate of 60 minutes for delivery. I called the store after 70 min and was told it would be leaving "soon," that they were busier than expected. I called again after nearly 90 minutes and was told my order had just left. That was 10 minutes ago. I live less than 5 minutes from the store (but didn't pickup due to weather). Ordered a pizza and wings for delivery. On the confirmation email it said it would be an estimated wait of 60 mins which was fine. 1 hour passes, nothing. 1 hour and a half passes, again nothing. I called to check up on the delivery and the woman on the phone said the delivery guy said 10 mins. 30 more mins pass (now about to hit 2 hrs!!) my husband was getting a bit frustrated just for the fact it had an estimated time of 1 hour and we were def getting the run around. We called the store because it was just ridiculous to wait 2 hours or more for a pizza delivery! We tried to take into consideration that it was Sunday and Father's Day and the lady offered us 50% refund but then she asked if we wanted a free drink with our food... meaning the food still hasn't even left the place or prob not even cooked and I live 12 mins away!!! This is truly some of the best pizza on the North Side. I have celiac and love getting their thin crust gluten free pizza because it reminds me of the "real thing". JB Albertos has one of the best Pizzas in Chicago! Home made sauces! You have to try their deep dish pizza! (You would have to get the stuffed, the deep dish is with a lot of bread) The one with a lot of cheese in between is the one you have to get. It would be the same as Bacinos if not better. Used to love the giant pizzas here when I was a kid. School would always order them for pizza lunches, special days and whatnot. Coming here recently for slices was okay, for small slices between 3-4 bucks, the pizza wasn't the freshest but I didn't mind much. Sauce isn't too sweet and thin crust is a little soft, but I rest enjoyed the pan pepperoni. Good texture and better cheese than on the thin slice, I think. Definitely a better deal to just get a full pizza than to grab slices, but I went for just two people so chose the lesser option. read more

Wow! I am EXTREMELY disappointed with J. Albertos! The Original review I was going to leave most likely would have made someone cry or get fired. I deleted it. I called and clearly asked for an Italian Beef & Sausage Sandwich. Add Mozzarella Cheese, Sweet Peppers and with Meat Sauce on the side. The last time I ordered from them, the restaurant gave me pizza/marinara sauce. I tried to make it clear, I didn't want pizza sauce, I wanted meat sauce on the side, not on the sandwich. Apparently the person fielding the call was super confused because I was placed on hold and questioned some more... did you want a pizza or a sandwich? I felt like I was in an episode of the Twilight Zone. I explained again what I wanted. Still, the person on the end of the line was confused. She asked if I wanted pizza sauce or ground beef sauce. I said, "Meat Sauce / Ground Beef Sauce." The person on the phone was STILL confused! I was dumbfounded!!! Then I was asked, " Do you want a ground beef sandwich or sliced roast beef sandwich?" I was like, "WhAaTt?!?!" "I just want an Italian Beef and Sausage sandwich, like you have it on your menu but add the toppings I want... Mozzarella Cheese, Sweet Peppers and the Meat sauce on the side!" "So, you don't want pizza sauce?" I was asked. "NO!!! I want meat sauce!!!" I couldn't understand what the problem was. And then the girl at the restaurant said, "I don't know what the problem is!?! The last girl you spoke to said you wanted a pizza!" Where in God's green earth did a pizza come into play?!?! I finally was able to get off the phone, however after the MAJOR ordeal, I called back and cancelled my order. I have no faith in this restaurant. I went home and made myself an Italian Cold Cut Sandwich, even though I didn't feel like making dinner myself! I had been working all day and wanted to spend my money in the neighborhood.
