This place was a bit disappointing. It seems they cater more for that to go, carry out customer and not dine in. I ordered both sushi and rolls I won't get into the topic of freshness as that varies from day to day. The sushi was very good, the rolls on the other hand use a different cut "not as good" for the roll topper (the topper is super thin & a horrible cut). I hope they read this review and make changes because with a few small changes this place could be fire!!!! Also the use of paper plates and plastic cups for dine-in kinda suck. Definitely a fine GEM in Brea! I just picked up broiled mussels,Volcano roll, popcorn pacific, and a chicken yakisoba for a small dinner party at our friends home. All that order for $28.....THATS A STEAL!!! Would cost almost $40 at other Sushi stores... Their portions are good and the presentation is well prepared. They really made sure their rolls are done right. The flavor is better than average sushi stores and the prices are Amazing. Most rolls are under $10 ($7.95ish) and appetizers are under five bucks. You get 10% DC off on your bill by checking in on Yelp, and you also get free drink after posting a positive review. They opened recently and inside the store has a nice, welcoming vibe with friendly staff taking your order. The seats are mostly full on weekends and i really couldnt find negatives on this store. Great great price, good presentation of the food, great flavors and quality of food for what you pay... what can I ask for more?! Price: This is an affordable sushi place. Service: It was a bit busy when we were there. A little wait time for anything. Food: It was fine compared with the price. It would be nice if the fish was cut and presented better. Do not want to go more than this. Cleanliness: My first empty plate came with whipped cream or something on the corner of the plate. Asked for a new one. Other than that, everything else was fine. Payment: My wife showed 5% discount to the cashier and she was acknowledge it. Yet, the credit card was run without any discount. We did not want to make a big deal. Maybe it was so busy so that she just forgot right away. My friend and I stumbled upon this place after shopping. We just needed something quick and easy to eat, and sushi sounded good. We arrived at around 7 PM on a Tuesday and were seated pretty much immediately, and I felt safe with social distancing being enforced between tables! First off, the food here is super affordable. Like it's way cheaper than what I anticipated/am used to, but the quality is still decent. My friend and I got 2 rolls each, with 1 more to share, and our bill came out to $25. (The one we ordered to share was the days special and it was like $5 or something??) Based off the price and quality alone, I'd recommend this place for sure! The food itself is also pretty good, but the price reflects the contents. The three rolls we got were all topped off with fresh fish, but there's nothing super interesting going on taste-wise: because all three rolls were essentially just California rolls with slightly different toppings. It was still GOOD for sure, but all three rolls started to taste the same after a little while. The menu is pretty large, so maybe we just had a super limited experience, and I'm open to coming back and diversifying my order next time! (Like maybe not getting only rolls lol). I made my first visit mid-November to this place and it was overall a pretty good experience considering everything going on. They only had the take out options which was fine with our group and only allowed one party into the store at a time. The prices indicated on the menu are reduced from what they regularly are and it is a good deal now. I got the Rainbow Roll on a Shrimp Crunchy Roll and was impressed by how good the quality was for the price point. However, we did have one order that had a mistake instead of the Rainbow on Spicy Tuna Roll we received it on a California Roll. We decided to go back and flag this because we did pay more for the spicy tuna. The interesting thing is that they took back the mistaken roll even though we had already take a bite. I am a regular at J Sushi Brea. It is nearby my campus, and the price is affordable compared to other sushi restaurant (which is a big plus for students) Instead of using the campus cafeteria, I drive here to eat some sushi rolls! They have a variety of rolls! Staffs are nice and friendly. I hope they continue to keep the same price range, even during an inflation surge. I am sure more students will come and visit. Such a great find in Brea! I've been here twice now and everytime I come the sushi is always fresh and delicious! My favorite rolls are the golden roll, sweet fire and the baby pacific. I was looking around Yelp to find a place to each lunch and J Sushi was on the top of the listing. It just opened and as always I am more than happy to give a new place a try. For starters this used to be a Poke restaurant but I guess it didn't make it. I ordered the typical California roll which was on special now for the Grand Opening and the Udon beef noodle soup. The California rolls were as expected for a simple dish, but my udon beef came out as stir fried instead of the soup that I had order. I let the staff know and they quickly worked on making the correct dish. I overheard that they had punched in the wrong dish, but it's a learning experience since they just opened. The soup came out delicious and super hot. I tried to eat it, but had to slowly until it cooled down. Awesome customer support and good prices. I hope they make it and stick around as they can count on me being a regular. read more

If you want something that's going to blow you away with incredible quality and service, I wouldn't recommend this place. Having said that, I just had their ramen for the first time and like some of the other things on the menu, it was just okay. Didn't have any pork. For National Burger Day I decided to get...rolls! Haha! I was craving some 'sushi' and craving sushi rolls after work. I've driven by this joint many times as it is located in a strip mall next to Lamps Plus near the 57 Freeway. Because of COVID they permit one customer at a time inside and there is hand sanitizer at the front to use. Ordered the Iron Monkey, Double Crunch, Rainbow, Albacore Delight, and Salmon/Salmon rolls. The Iron monkey and the double crunch are similar where they are deep fried creating a crunchy, oily outside with a cooked inside. The Iron Monkey has spicy tuna inside that is topped with small cute crawfish and scallops that are doused in some pink mayo like sauce. It is a pretty heavy roll to eat and will definitely fill you up! The Double Crunch is two times the crunch with an aforementioned deep fried roll with crunchy tempura toppings on top. The Albacore roll is a California roll with spicy tuna on the outside and thinly sliced albacore wrapped on top. It comes with a side of salad and tempura battered red onion rings. The salad helps a lot with balancing the savory roll and sauces! The Rainbow roll and Salmon roll are pretty standard and taste ok! None of the fish smelled old and the texture was not slimy. The taste was good for its price range! So the price! The rolls are very cost effective and a pretty decent bang for your buck. Food came out pretty quickly and the service was straight forward! Also, they put the sauces for you on the side and there are a lot of sauces (I.e. Ponzu, teriyaki, spicy mayo, etc.)! Oh yea, they have those cute little waving cat machines too. Nice. read more

Was craving sushi so took my daughter for lunch. Ordered the golden dragon which is baked salmon roll and my daughter ordered an avocado roll. Got the orders quickly but we were shocked to see how small they're making their rolls now. The baked salmon on my roll was paper thin and barely there. I could hardly taste any salmon at all. Should've just got the CA roll and saved the extra $5 for the barely there salmon. My daughters roll was tiny. Not sure if they have new management or what but it was pretty disappointing. read more

Best sushi I have had in a really long time. I stumbled upon this place only because I was in the area. This spot was not only welcoming the roll selection was amazing. They weren't too pricey either. I was allowed to follow on fb and got a special treat from this restaurant. This is my new go to spot. I do not mind driving here.
