The pains of where to take my 2010 RR Sport for service has finally been laid to rest thanks to Jim, Shirley, Dan and the rest of the J Whites team. These guys KNOW Land Rovers on an almost spiritual level. Let's face it, Land Rovers/Range Rovers are a specialist vehicle, you just can't go to the local garage and expect them to know these complex machines, they can be temperamental but the rewards are so sweet.. I have had several maintenance and preventative maintenance jobs done on my baby and each time i've been blown away by the transparent honesty of the staff. On a recent oil change visit the guys changed my oil and filter and i was on my way home when suddenly smoke appeared from under the hood. For me.......Very scary. Called Jim who was genuinely concerned about my safety and wanted the truck back ASAP. Upon my return the mechanics came out like an E.R. team and had my hood, engine cover and me removed from the O.R. stat! A defective oil seal gasket was the root cause, a simple manufacturing defect had sprayed oil all over the entire engine bay (after the car got warm) and of course the oil was running out like a waterfall from every nook and cranny. After they had replaced the filter and gasket and topped off the oil JW's didn't want me to take my car that day, they wanted to keep the patient for an over night stay for observation and they put me in a rental car. Next day Jim kept me informed on the up to date going's on and the mechanics wanted to thoroughly go over every part of the engine to make sure there were no other issues. I got to pick up my car the next day, when i got to the garage my baby had been to the spa! New oil and filter change, and spotlessly clean, i knew they were going to power wash and degrease the engine to get rid of all the oil that had sprayed out but i didn't realize they were going to do a full detail on the entire car, all at no charge!!! Customer service is a priority for these guys and when it comes to my car i'm a demanding customer, i'm the guy that goes around the car with a white glove after a service, i've had my car from new and she's almost 9 years old now (106 months!) i know every inch of my baby and she's never looked or felt better! read more

I honestly must say that J. White's Automotive has some of the worst business practices I've ever seen. My wife owns a 2012 Land Rover and I brought her car in to have an oil change and a pre-existing issue looked into. After a ballpark of around 6-8 hours and asking to agree to 3 separate diagnostic fees costing $450-$500 and that's correct diagnostic fees. I was later told we can't find anyone wrong with my transmission shifting but some contraption or gauge needs to be looked at. Now, here's the interesting thing here. I had to call them as it was getting late and there's no courtesy transport available. So, not on was I unconvinced I was overcharged and had to go out my way after hours to pick up my vehicle and was told don't arrive too late as the Police take notice. If you're a pre-existing customer you probably look at my post and say this guy is crazy but I got to tell you this place will take your money and then accuse you of not reading the fine print. I've not had service done here, but I came here for an inspection and even on the last day of the month, there was no line! None! It's probably because I had no clue this place even existed since it's set so far back, but hey, no line for state inspection on the last day of the month was pretty awesome. Okay, I cannot say enough positive things about J. White's Automotive. I was attending a work meeting at Staples Headquarters and picked up a bolt in my tire on my way out. I knew I wouldn't make it back to work in Boston with a bolt lodged in my tire. Being stuck half way between work and home, I was adrift in a sea of unknown car service providers. Honestly, I stopped here because it was the closest place to where I was but, after my experience, I would drive miles out of my way to return. First, Jeff promptly came to the waiting room to introduce himself and introduce me to the person who would be working on my tire. I was immediately impressed - I don't think I've ever met the person working on my car in advance before! When both guys saw the tire in question, they pointed out the low treads, that the tires would need to be replaced very, very soon. Recognizing that I didn't know this place at all, Jeff put me at complete ease and told me that he would gladly quote me a price for new tires or attempt to patch the hole so I could get back to my regular service center. I opted for the later. After investigating the hole, Jeff came to get me to show me that there were actually two holes in the tire, one big one from the bolt and a smaller ancillary one adjacent to the bolt. Again, with absolutely no pressure and a surprising amount understanding, he recommended against attempting to patch the tire given their need for replacement. He then offered to have his mechanic put on my doughnut and send me on my way, which is what I opted to do. Absolutely no pressure to make a decision I was not comfortable with yet arming me with all of the information I need to make an educated decision. In retrospect, I wish I had asked them to replace my tires because they very quickly earned my trust. Auto Repair Shops are somewhat personal - once you have a trusted relationship, ever fiber in your body tells you not to trust anyone but your "place." While I'm not in Framingham often, I will HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone who has car service needs. This place understands the customer's perspective and really goes the extra mile to make sure you are an educated consumer and comfortable with what they are doing. Through the years, I've stopped in to lots of different auto repair shops for an unexpected, urgent repair but I've never felt compelled to tell the world about it - until now. Well done, J. I have had my Rover serviced here a few times and they are a great place for Land Rover repairs. Their work estimates are clear and they give you honest answers on the work that needs to be done. The service techs will meet you and discuss any problems they find and the whole staff are friendly. Having owned a few Land Rovers over the years this isn't my first roundup with Land Rover service locations and J Whites is on top of my list. Wish I had used them a few years ago with my Discovery 2..well. When I get my Defender I will have it serviced here as well. read more

I had a fantastic experience! I had a warning light regarding my coolant and called ahead to see if they could just take a quick look. Jim agreed to let me swing in and he would do a quick visual inspection to see if the issue was serious or not. He took a look at my coolant take and didn't see anything off but wanted to do a better visual inspection to make sure there was no issue. He found that I had a leaking hose and maybe the bad radiator. He charged me a beyond fair price for his time and honestly went above and beyond what he needed to do. My issue was under warranty so he helped me arrange to get it towed to the dealership (knowing he wasn't going to be making any money keep in mind). This just goes to show: good service counts. I wasn't a customer that day, but I assure you I will be a regular customer in the future. For oil changes, future repairs, and any other car needs J White's will be the first place I call. My wife and I have just moved from Seattle and I was in immediate need of a specialized Land Rover shop to fix some much-needed issues with my 1988 Defender 90. I discovered J. White's Automotive after my own extensive reading of other online reviews and comparisons, and took the leap of faith in handing over my Defender to them to troubleshoot, assess, and recommend solutions. While my Seattle shop was good - the team at J. White's is GREAT. The welcoming hospitality for a newcomer to the area - in addition to the transparency of the diagnosis and work done throughout -- has been my best auto repair experience ever. I can honestly say that as my truck is running the best it ever has since I've owned it. It's evident that Jeff, Shirley, and the entire team have a love for Land Rovers - as do those of us who own these old trucks. And that that translates to a team that really cares about the repair outcome and their customers' happiness with driving these old Rovers. For my truck - the team took their time in accurately diagnosing a serious issue with the rear differential, driveshafts, and noise resulting from a previously bad suspension lift. J. White's solution and repair have eliminated the issues, and I finally have confidence in driving the Defender. "Do you want it done now, or do you want it done right?" One word of advice for customers: BE PATIENT and allow the J. White's team to complete a thorough and accurate diagnosis. It's easy to rush a shop to just do "the easy fix," but with patience, you'll be better off with a repair by them that lasts awhile. In general - J. White's earned my business. My first experience here as a first time Range Rover owner. I have to say, I've never walked away from a visit to a car repair place with such a smile on my face. I only went in for an oil change but as it was my first visit I was treated to a multi point inspection for free. I then received a full education on my vehicle, including a walk around and underneath while it was on the lift. They didn't do this to point out what was wrong, they merely wanted to highlight what good condition the car was in. They performed a lot of other checks and even removed a damaged spare tire deflection shield. They examined everything from air filters to lug nuts. The price alone was phenomenal and further secured my belief that going to a dealer is the worst decision you can make financially. read more

For several years now, we've been bringing our Chevy, our BMW and our Rover to J.White's for every automotive need. At first, we went because it was convenient and we didn't want to contend with 3 different dealers. Now, we stay because of the excellent automotive service and the way the entire crew consistently demonstrates top-quality customer care. It doesn't matter whether it's a standard oil change, a straight-forward brake job or one of those pesky, intermittent problems, Jeff and his team are committed to quality work. I especially appreciate that, on more than one occasion, I've forgotten to mention something (like needing windshield wipers) and Jeff's guys, because of their attention to detail, have discovered and brought it to my attention. Gotta love a mechanic whose got your back. Jeff is well-regarded (& justifiably so) for his Rover expertise but his team doesn't stop there. Each one of these guys speaks many different automotive languages! I feel as comfortable with them servicing my Chevy truck and BMW sedan as my Land Rover. When we started using J.White's, they were right down the street. Now, it's a bit of hike to bring our cars for service - but it's well worth the time for the excellent service and the peace of mind. I came in here completely by chance (because its close to where I work) and found Sean and his team to be professional and straightforward. I needed to get my tires replaced and they gave me a reasonable quote. They also gave me a ride to and from work on them day my car was in the shop. My only complaint is that it took them many days to get the tires for my car - but I suppose that wasn't their fault. Their emphasis on trust is valuable in an industry that is otherwise so full of doubt and skepticism. read more

To be honest, the reason I came here was because it was close to work. The whole staff was very nice and polite. They even gave me a ride to work, and brought me back at the end of the day once they were done. The only problem was the bill. $75 for an oil change is definitely on the expensive side. No issues with work though, and the added convenience probably makes it worth the money. read more

I just returned from picking up my car at J White's and I am so moved by their service and kindness that I truly feel compelled to share. I initially took my car to Mini in Boston because it's under warranty there. As it turned out, not only did Mini NOT cover the issue they diagnosed, but they planned to charge me and arm and a leg for it after keeping my car for days. I did a bit of research online and discovered J White's, and after discussing the issue with them, they gave me an estimate for 1/3 of the price Mini was asking for. Bianca was friendly, professional, and prompt in all of our interactions. To keep this short, I cannot highlight enough that after having a surprisingly sour experience with Mini, I was blown away by the honesty and kindness of the people over at J White's. They are clearly trustworthy and I felt I could not have been in better hands. From now on, I know exactly where to go when I have car trouble. Got my inspection sticker today, just under their cutoff time. They happily inspected my car and even opened the show room for me so that I would not have to stand outside in the heat and humidity. I got my car inspected there a year ago and they were very nice and polite then too. Getting an inspection sticker is not my favorite but necessary way to spend money, but they made my experience pleasant. read more

Good customer service at reasonable prices for any Landrover problem

We have been bringing our LR3 to Jeff and his crew for years. They always are open, honest and professional. Recently, we had a particularly difficult repair required on our LR3. Mice had set up a nest under the hood and had chewed away at come critical wiring. One of the main harnesses had to be removed, sent across the country for repair and then sent back to J. White's and reinserted in our vehicle. At each step of the way, Jeff and Sean kept us updated with the progress and were a great help with communicating with our insurance contacts. If any part of this repair had been done incorrectly, it could have caused future damage electrically. And we're happy to say that our car is running flawlessly now. They are a group that we'll definitely continue to bring our LR3 and future Rovers to service. read more
