First of all- look at that pretzel???? Ummm?? It's giant. Before I ordered it I asked our waitress how big it is because I was thinking I'd just put it down myself and she said it's pretty massive so I ordered it for the table and we all ate some- and STILL had a little left when we were leaving (don't worry it got eaten later) This pretzel was a monster but it was so good. It was so soft and had big chunks of salt sprinkled on top it came with beer cheese and honey mustard for dipping but honestly it was so good just by itself. Gorgeous pretzel. To be honest, the mojito was a little sad. The presentation wasn't the best and there was no ice or anything... it kinda looked like they gave me someone's already-sipped-on-mojito from another table. This is only my second time to visit. We went over Halloween weekend and many of the staff members had dressed up and even done some clever things. One bartender was Satan, her friend and waitress was dressed in green with Lettuce written across the front and return to Devil if found as she was the Devils Lettuce! Shana likes this place and the staff is usually friendly and fun. There seemed to be a bit of tension between a barback that was talking to us and one of the bartenders but otherwise it was fun. We tried some different drinks and alcohol while sitting at the bar. We also think about playing darts but it is always busy and there are not enough. I mean a non pub in Punch Bowl Social has more. (This is Shana writing) So Jack and Ginger's is the sort of bar that speaks to me. There is a ton of seating and the decor is heavy on wood and privacy. It's the sort of bar that has a ton of nooks and crannies and dark corners, but not in a sketchy way. I hope that makes sense. Also in the middle of the big, main room, they have a transparent glass floor through which you can see all the whiskey casks they keep down below. Fun! It is a nice bar to just hang out in. Sports on TV. Tables to sit and talk. Not for people who like to be active, play bar games, or dance but a nice bar nonetheless. read more

Was given a sample of beer to try, it was a clear milky liquid and upon asking about it the bartender just shrugged. Took a very small sip and immediately realized it was a cleaning solution of sorts. The bartender said he didn't know why, took a small sip himself and proceeded to spit it up into the sink saying that's disgusting. He then walked away laughing to the other bartenders and we didn't get any apologies or follow up beyond that. Spar has surprisingly good music, like R&B hip-hop the hits. They also had good drinks hence, all the blurry pictures. Came here with some coworkers after a team dinner and had a great time! I love the lights and the transparent floor. Bathroom is pretty clean for a bar. If you drove the parking garage is not too far. Stopped by for fried pickles and wings. Expectations were low since it's your average bar food. The menu is diverse enough to accommodate most people, so that's a plus, but is it worth coming here for an actual meal? Probably not. Don't expect anything above mediocre, at best. Service is very lax - you seat yourself and someone will bring you a menu, take your order, and bring a check. Overall, I wouldn't ever voluntarily choose to eat here or anything, but I can see the appeal for the 5pm post-work happy hour or drinks and a quick snack. Food ratings: - Wings (3/5): Decent sized wings, but the honey bourbon sauce we chose tasted like basic BBQ sauce - nothing special. And they put way too much sauce, so it wasn't the most pleasant. But they weren't horrible. - Fried pickles (2/5): I liked the longer cut, but it was also tricky to eat since the pickle would slide out from the breading on the first bite. Breading was good. Pickle slices could have been thicker - might have helped with biting into them. - Fish & chips (3/5): The batter wasn't bad but it needed to be crispier, it was basically a thick tortilla-like texture. The bingo tonight was disgusting. i heard word it was the GM but i dk. We came to bingo night every Wednesday and had a blast. But tonight, there was derogatory comments- asking what a woman's weight was, making jokes about balls, and way more. Not only was it not cute, but it was especially not cute bc the guy making the jokes was ugly and weird af. Until they go back to the old bingo, i won't be back and i am spreading the word. This guy sucked, was weird, and they were pouring half shots. Jack and gingers is no longer my favorite place. read more

Beer was cold, large selection. Guinness however, and the Guinness pour were laughably bad. But people smoking AT the bar on the patio side killed it for me. Finished my beer and left without eating. I haven't sat next to smokers or had smelly ashtrays at my elbow for almost 20 years in Austin, and I'm not going back to that. read more

Been enjoying going to this bar lately on Tuesdays to play chess :) they were kind enough to allow our chess meetups to come here. The bar is beautiful inside, incredibly ornate and vividly green as you would expect from an Irish pub. People seem nice, I just your normal run of the mill people I guess lol. The prices for the beer is so good for this part of town. Usually only spend 6 dollars on beers which is honestly really good since it's just the average price usually. I tried some of their fries one time and liked it also, maybe next Tuesday I will try out some of their food here ‍ read more

This is a nice, casual place to meet with friends for a drink and appetizer. It has been a while since I've been and I popped by it yesterday and it was bustling! This is one of the best places to watch a game with friends. Lots of fun energy! They have a location in Houston too that I've been to more. Jack & Gingers never disappoints. Great staff! read more

Went for a late lunch today and decided to eat on the patio. When we first arrived the misters were on and felt great. They turned off and it got a little warm. Our server was part of a family of servers we learned from the youngest server. She was the older sister that helped with our order. She recommended a beer my wider really enjoyed. Our food was very well prepared and was on point. My wife was overheating after we ate and we were trying to find our server who seemed to be on a break. We literally waited 15 minutes before going inside to see if we could fine her. It appears like she had 2 tables inside and must of lost track of us outside. All in all it was a great lunch and we would have loved to give it 5 stars but paying should not be the hardest part of going out to lunch. read more

We went Saturday 03/23/24 for a late lunch and sat outside. For some reason the draft beer I had wasn't very cold. Service from two of the three bartenders was great but one spent time talking with the regulars and didn't pay much attention to how she made her drinks. I ordered a michelada after the draft beee came out not cold and she literally put 2 ounces of lime juice in it. No thanks! Food was your average bar food. We really enjoy coming here. There's a terrific beer selection, a lot of different seating options, and a fun glass floor.  There are a lot good food choices here.  The pretzel is massive, fish & chips crispy and flaky, and classic burger always cooked to specification.  The fried pickles have a great batter and the Guinness brownie is thick and chewy and comes with creamy ice cream. Love their new little picnic tables by the street. It's usually sooo loud inside the bar area/on their patio so this is the happy middle ground and don't have to scream to hear your friend speak. I've honestly never tried their food because I'm usually not in the mood for dive bar food, but can speak to how great their variety of beers is. Double check your drink if you order a non alcoholic beer. The server may get you a regular beer even if you ask for a non alcoholic beer that is present on their menu. It doesn't seem like the servers understand that non alcoholic beer exists. I specifically mentioned that I'm looking for a non alcoholic beer. And I asked for the Lagunitas IPNA, which is the non alcoholic version and it's on their menu. However, I was given regular Lagunitas and the reasoning was that it was the only Lagunitas that was available. It seemed like the server had difficulty comprehending that a patron may request for a non alcoholic beer, and a regular beer is not an appropriate replacement for a non alcoholic beer. So I just went to the bar and got the Lagunitas IPNA. read more

My husband and I sat out on the patio area for a few drinks. The drink selection on tap includes both beers and ciders. I think there were five or six different types of ciders on tap and which is unusual at normal bars but appreciated since I can't drink beer due to a barley allergy. We didn't have any food but we did see a big Irish breakfast that looked amazing. Not sure how someone could eat that out on the patio area when it was still close to 100 degrees but each their own. I am so surprised I have never reviewed this place once since first coming to J&G's over 5 years ago. Tons of memories here with good friends, sitting outdoors drinking whiskey and smoking cigars, minus the cigars. The irish coffees to the wide selection of beers on tap, you'll never run out of new things to try. They've got a killer happy hour menu, if you catch them at the right time, you might be lucky enough to get the worlds biggest pretzel with cheese/honey mustard dip. It's like $5 and it's worth every cent. I love pretzels and this one ranks right up there at the top. The outdoor section provides excellent seating for 'people watching', especially during the night when the Domain starts livening up with interesting sorts of people. Another David "Ramsey" review. Jack and Ginger's Irish Pub. Ain't a damn thing Irish about it. Continuous loop of thumping rap music. Not an Irish tune in sight. Had the fish and chips. Bloody Hell! Fish crispy but flavorless. Tartar sauce thin, basically something white. Fries tasted like the steak fries I bake in the oven and get frozen at HEB. Plate overflowing with string beans, WTH? Coffee lukewarm, old and bitter. Asked for cokes instead, tasted like the coke came from a fountain and not a bottle or can. And definitely not original Coke which we ordered. Cost $30 plus tip for one entry which we shared and 2 Cokes. Return factor 0, will not go again. 1 star. read more

We came for Bingo night to celebrate my birthday. We have come many times before. We really enjoyed the lady and drinks. Today not so much. The drinks were awful and the GM was the Bingo presented and all he talked about was sexual things like "his two balls" were the most important in the room. Instead of starting at 8:30pm he started at 9:30. Between every number kept making sexual comments. There was a very nice bartender who bought us a drink and made up for the disgusting behavior of the GM. Then the GM decided to go up to a girl and ask what she weighed on the microphone and asked the crowd to judge and chime in when she said her weight. He was so obnoxious and offensive and I hope y'all don't go when he is there. To the nice bartender you should absolutely be the GM and step in his place. Thank you and peace out! read more

My fiancés Irish breakfast was flavorful and great, but my chicken sandwich had the texture of rubber boots and was extremely bland. I really enjoyed this Irish pub. The wait staff was very friendly and efficient. Just the perfect about of time to check in us and make sure all was well. The place was very clean. The food was very good. I loved the garlic green beans, could easily of been the best part of the meal (if you like veggies... as I do). The fish was tender and seemed fresh. Came with my favorite kind of fries... thick steak fries. The pretzel was warm and very good, was the same as a perfect old fashion European pretzel. The fried pickle slices were very enjoyable as well. I absolutely loved the Redhead In Bed drink, a new favorite for sure. The Bonkers Grapefruit Cucumber drink was a relaxing refreshing drink. Very average place to grab food or a drink. I was in Austin for work and my flight got canceled, so I was here another night. I stayed at the Westin across the street so started wandering around the area for a place to eat. I chose Jack & Gingers because the beer selection looked really robust. Service here is bare minimum. You're greeted, drink order, handed your drink, place food order, food given, checked on once, then ask for your check and you're out. I personally feel like they could be a bit more personable. I wasn't the biggest fan of the beer I ordered. I can't remember what it was called, but it was a blonde ale. I ordered the fish & chips and enjoyed it. It's actually a really big portion size and comes with green beans. I doubt I'd come back here given there are other options in the area. But it may have a more livelier vibe on weekends.
