After our clutch went out in just about the worst place possible--one mile from the Hoover Dam--we called our Vegas friends and asked what we should do! They said to take the car to Jack and Sons on Russell Road, that they do good work and are reasonably priced. I really wish we had a Jack and Sons in San Diego. They not only completed the work by the end of the day, they were extremely FRIENDLY the whole time, were never annoyed by my calling to check in, and the price, well I thought it was going to be a couple hundred more than what it ended up being. I was recommended to these guys and it's paid off in spades. They're the only honest car mechanic I've been to in Vegas. No nonsense, good people. A few examples: I needed a window motor. They quoted me a price on the part and labor. I thought I could find the part cheaper by going after-market on Ebay. Asked them if I could supply the part. They said sure, no problem. Bring in the part and we'll just charge the labor. Thought my transmission was acting up. Brought it in to them. They gave it a spin and said "Seems OK to us." Any other garage would have trumped up the problem to fleece the customer. Sure enough, it's been riding smooth since. Was having trouble with my AC. Midas wanted $1500 for a complete replacement of the AC system. Brought it to Jack and Sons. They said it was an easy patch and a freon recharge. $150. It's been blowing cold ever since. I heard of this place from an old co-worker. I had had my final straw with the dealership for my car, and I was out of my mind with costs. They wanted over $1,600 for several issues. After going to Jack and Sons, they said that the repairs needed would be about $120. The ancillary repairs were not required for my car to run, and they said it would cost another $800 if I chose to opt for those repairs. "You're good for another year, at least." I don't know why it's taken me this long to write a review. I found out about this place by asking about an honest car repair/oil change place in a group on Facebook. One of the ladies recommended Jack & Sons. I have lived in Vegas for about 10 years and have never really returned to the same place to get my car fixed or oil changed (besides the Toyota dealership). I have taken my cars here for about 2 years now and will continue to as long as I live here. A bonus is that it's close to my business, so often if I don't want to wait, I will leave my car there and walk back. It's also close to the hot yoga place so I can walk there too. The place looks older. The owners are great! No BS here. They tell me how long I have until I need brake pads replaced, and when I have a question, they'll tell me honestly if something is wrong. Once, they fixed my old Camry and I was charged around $300 and they let me know that the problem might be something else, something major. Well, the problem came back and they looked at it again, then said it would cost as much to fix it as it was worth, so it would be best used as a trade in. We took their advice and traded it in. So had take the van here because I was trying to do an oil change myself on it but stupid Terrible Herbst freaking tightened the crap out of the oil drain plug bolt and I could not hand-loosen it with my ratchet. I ended up stripping the bolt head as the socket and wrench I used slipped through the corners. My buddy Bob, from the UNLV math office, recommended Jack & Sons and I knew I could trust him since he works on his own cars. I already had all the supplies to do an oil change so they simply charged me $25 to remove the plug and do the rest of the change. They used a vise grip which would've cost me $20 anyhow to buy and whole lot more frustration as I cannot lift the van very high. They also had it done in less than an hour and a half from when we dropped the van off, so it was totally worth it. I am bringing my other car back for work on brakes and some other stuff. read more

AWESOME SERVICE!! MY CRV WAS FIXED AND THEY ARE SUCH NICE PEOPLE!!! I came in today to get a new power steering pump installed.. Frank welcomed me and he already knew what I was coming in for (I called in ahead). I brought in my own after market pump and they installed it for me with no problem. They told me it will take about 2 hours to get it done but the mechanic, Shane got it done earlier than expected.. I had to wait for the car to get fixed because I couldn't get a ride, so the fast service was greatly appreciated.. My steering wheel is no longer making a noise!!! thanks to jacks and sons.. I just got home and realized that I need an oil change.. I'll most likely be back soon!..=) read more

My AC went out... in Las Vegas in the summertime!! Oh NO!!! Jack and Sons got me in within two days and had it fixed within 6 hours. They gave me two price options, 1 for Original parts from the dealer, and one for after market parts. After asking questions about the longevity, I went with the aftermarket parts. Labor costs were very reasonable, the mechanics were helpful on the phone when I made the appointment, when I dropped it off, when they called with the diagnosis and when I picked it up. I'll definitely go back. And you know whats the best? I found out about them because I was going to go to Ted Wiens and their reviews have tanked since the last time I was there and I read the reviews and someone suggested Jack and Sons. Yeah I saw on the reviews that these people are nice and friendly but there was nothing nice and friendly about the phone call I had with them. I'm not very familiar with vehicles which is why I'm calling the people who do this for a living to help me. But all I got was rude indifferent answers and got hung up on. So if you don't know anything about cars don't call this place because they will treat you like crap. Very unpleasant customer service, if you don't like dealing with people then maybe you should look into a different profession. I'm sure these guys may know what they're doing but I don't recommend coming here unless you want to have a bad experience. read more

Great Customer Service & as for the work done on my car, Excellent! Kenny was honest gave me a fair price & fixed my 1973 Cougar & now it runs like a Cadillac. It took them sooner than I thought & was a lot cheaper than I expected. My personal mechanic didn't have the correct knowledge of fixing my car, I was at the point to where I was going to rebuild the entire engine or at least get it inspected to the fullest. My girls friend has known Kenny 10+ years & I'm glad he's my new mechanic for my classic car. Frank who works the desk is very helpful via phone. I recommend this shop to anyone & everyone. Came here after reading good reviews on the repairs and prices. Had my husbands car towed in by a tow company they recommended (which was a fast, friendly, great price tow). I thought my clutch was going out on my Isuzu Rodeo. I called 7 different places about a clutch replacement and I was quoted anywhere from $850 to $1100. Been going to Kenny for about ten years now. He has always been upfront and honest with every repair. I have had fuel lines replaced, breaks done,alternator,starter and others over the years I cant remember. Every time the price quoted was the price delivered and every time he has been more than willing to explain to me why he chose one part over another when I found parts cheaper than the ones they were using. He has always given me the option of bringing my own parts for them to install, but over the years I have learned he knows what he is doing and he never chooses parts because of price always because of quality. I don't understand how anyone can rate this place less than four stars (five really, but to each his own). Between my family there are five cars. We take all of them here. Not once have we been pressured to get any work done. In cases of emergency, I've taken my car to get looked at somewhere else and was told I'd need over a thousand dollars in repairs. Then I'd take it over to these guys and tell them what I was told and they look at wide eyed and tell me I only had a little problem that would cost me a hundred bucks. They're transparent with their prices. If you ask them to break down the cost, they will. Some people complain about their customer service. I've never had a bad experience. But to customers who are used to big corporation run businesses, they're probably used to getting their butts kissed. My car was involved in a hit in run at my apartment complex and it was so bad that it broke the control arm and my tire fell off. My boyfriend referred to me this place and him and his family have been going here for over 10 years. It's a family owned business and everybody there is really nice! I had a great experience with this place. They told me what I needed to do to fix my car without trying to sell me other unneccessary services. They were honest with me and very fair with their pricing. It was nice to not get hassled to do other things or tricked into thinking I needed things I really didn't. I came across Jack & Sons over fifteen years ago & they are definitely "my" mechanics... everything from oil changes to squeaky brakes-they've solved ALL of my problems! I don't ever feel that they've taken advantage of me or used my lack of knowledge regarding auto repair! They always explain the problem & FIX IT at a fair & honest price! Needed to get my car serviced. Dropped off my car and told them what I needed. The staff as a whole were very professional and friendly. They did all that was needed and nothing more. The price for what was done was very reasonable. I will definitely be taking my car here from now on. If you need a lot done on your car, make sure you drop it off early in the morning right at 7. I had a broken harmonic balancer on my Jeep. Brought it in because I couldn't get it home. They told me the part cost $80, they said I needed a new $40 belt, and the labor would be $160. I told them that part costs $40 at autozone, it didn't need a new belt. I had recently replaced the belt for $20. And I don't understand how they could charge so much for labor when this was a quick half hour fix. I don't know a lot about cars, but I can see a broken part and take it off, and put on a new one. The repair that they would have charged me nearly $300 for, I did myself for $40. These guys are scam artists. They are ripping you all off. I would rather walk than take my car back there ever again. read more

My a/c on my 08 Honda wasn't working all the time just sometimes when it wasnt hot. Took it to Honda and they wanted $105 just to look at it. They said parts and labor would be extra if they found out what was wrong. Took it to Jack and Sons, he asked a few questions turns out it was the motor blower and I was out the door an hour later for just a little more than what Honda would have charged just to look at it.
