Brunch at Jackdaw was a long anticipated visit for my friend's 35th birthday. A friend of my friend had been there before and suggested it, also noting that this is where she met her boyfriend. Expectations were high assuming this place held some kind of magic. We arrived about 10 minutes early and I noticed people in the front dining space double fisting what looked like an Aperol aperitif and an espresso martini. I later learned that they have a 2 drinks for the price of one special, you just have to order them both at the same time. We walked in and were promptly seated as our table had been set and held, thanks to our Resy booking. Ordering the same as I had recently mocked, I chose to have The Brunch Punch and the Cold Brew Martini. The Brunch Punch was a light and effervescent combination of Prosecco, orange curaçao, and fruits. It was refreshing and did not have the viscosity of a syrupy sangria. The Cold Brew Martini was presented well with the foam and espresso bean on top. Surprisingly I enjoyed this drink slightly less as I didn't expect it to taste as sweet as it did. When I think of cold brew, I imagine concentrated coffee that has emboldened with flavor as it chills. I'm one of those people who drinks coffee black or sometimes with a little cream. People who take sugar will probably love this. When ordered together both drinks were $11. A steal for the quality here. When it came to food, the birthday girl ordered the Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon. The home fries looked and smelled delicious. It was coupled with a fresh side salad to lighten the dish. It looked hearty and was exactly what her boyfriend predicted that she'd order. Choosing to drink my calories instead, I had the yogurt and granola dish. Typically it's served with honey, which I asked them to leave off. I was happy they could accommodate my request and that the dish was served on an open dish rather than parfait style. Although parfait servings look pretty, you can't control how much of the yogurt to fruit to granola you are eating when it's served that way. The table laughed as my dish took the longest to come out. We joked that they were milking the cows in the back. I didn't mind though as the cocktails and conversation kept the meal flowing. The yogurt parfait came with sliced strawberries, blackberries, and peeled orange slices. This was exactly the type of fresh meal I wanted for our morning and pre-museum tour. The service here is excellent. Our waitress kept checking in on us and someone always made sure that our water glasses were filled. Given the number of people, the staff moved swiftly and were very accommodating. I recommend Jackdaw as a perfect bar and brunch spot! read more

Bottomless wasn't at all what it seemed you're going to end up paying for each drink in the end with the way they handle the bill.

Located in the East Village, we got reservations for brunch right at open. They don't offer bottomless drinks here but upon opening the menu, we noticed a STEAL of a deal. $10 for 2 cocktails. If you are ordering this deal, both of the cocktails you order have to be the same drink but since we went as a group of 2, it was easy to mix and try different drinks. The service was friendly and attentive. The ambiance is great for a brunch date. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered 2 dishes and 2 rounds of cocktails. Eggs benedict with smoked salmon: This is exactly what you expect, no surprises. It also comes with potatoes and salad on the side. Sausage Breakfast burrito: this was filling and delicious. This comes with a side of potatoes and guacamole. Margherita slushy: This was super refreshing and had a good amount of alcohol Espresso Martini: We were so surprised to find this on the deal! Pleasantly surprised about this place's food! I came for a bday brunch and was expecting it to be like every other brunch spot in the city.. you know like plain avo toast and all that hahaha. But they had a great menu for brunch and the dinner menu was even better. Though, I'd say don't waste time making a reservation because they are super busy even on a weekday...they didn't honor my reservation and my group of friends and I ended up sitting outside of the restaurant even though I originally requested to be seated indoor. Came here on a chilly Friday night with my friend for happy hour/dinner. I loved everything from the cocktails (ordered the Devil in Ms Watson) to the charcuterie board to the burrata entree. The Devil in Ms Watson is a hilarious name but it's also light, sweet, and garnished with a cute strawberry slice. We ordered the charcuterie board and not only is it a great size for two, but it's also good quality. I was almost too full to eat my burrata entree, but powered through. Service is good, with consistent check ins, and their music has quality throwbacks! Only wish COVID didn't restrict tables to the 1.5 hour limit so that we could spend more time here! read more

Had reservations for dinner on a Friday night but even after making reservations we had to wait a while to get seated. This place is extremely loud and not ideal if you're trying to catch up with friends and actually have a conversation. I'm not sure if it's always like that or because it was a Friday night. Our server was also unfortunately not very friendly and rude. We told him that we were waiting on our friend who got stuck in traffic and he didn't seem to care. Basically kicked us out saying that we can only stay for more than an hour an half. Mind you there were plenty of people on there who had been been there way longer. So when my friend was finally able to make it we had to pay and go to another spot. The sangria I had was good but nothing amazing and the carnitas tacos were average. I came here with a large group for a friend's 30th birthday. The service was incredibly prompt which is rare for most bottomless brunch services. Our waitress came over to do subsequent rounds of drinks at least every 15 minutes. With a large group everyone had different dietary restrictions but there was still something on the menu for everyone. I got the flatbread which was HUGE and also very delicious. The eggs were poached perfectly on top and the flatbread was warm and well seasoned. The ambiance is amazing as well, it's well lit and vibrant white still allowing guests to carry a conversation. My friends and I wanted to grab quick dinner before the Yankee's game, so we stumbled upon Jackdaw. The other people in my group had enjoyed their bottomless brunch, so they were curious to see how their dinner would compare. Our reservation was for the patio, so we were seated outside for our meal. The patio area is very nice and cozy. The seatings were comfortable and I didn't feel like I was too close to the other tables. The service was also very solid as I didn't feel like I had to wait too long to be seated or for any of my foods/requests. To start, my table ordered the margarita picantes. Personally, I enjoyed the picante seasoning as the spice was not too overwhelming to me and added a nice kick to my drink. My friends disagreed with me, however, where some thought that the seasoning on its own was very solid while others thought the seasoning mixed in the drink was the best way to enjoy the drink. The margarita itself was very typical, nothing out of this world, but still a solid drink. We then ordered a side of chips and guac as well as hummus with chicken shwarma. The portions for both appetizers were relatively small. The chips and guac were nothing extraordinary, and I think that the guac definitely could have benefited with more lemon juice/peppers/cilantro as it taste pretty bland. The hummus and chicken shwarma was very tasty, and I appreciated how the pita that the appetizer came with was a little crispy, which added a nice texture to the meal. For my meal, I ordered the al pastor quesadilla. The waitress informed me that the quesadilla was not going to be a normal quesadilla that folds on itself, but it was going to be more like a pizza. Even though she gave me this warning, I still thought that the base was going to be a soft tortilla. However, whenever it was presented to me, I realized that the base was a crunchier tortilla. As a result, when I took a bite of the quesadilla, the interior would be very chewy while the exterior was crunchy, not to mention that the base was thinner than I had hoped. The al pastor and sauce on top were delicious, though, so I have no complaints about the flavor itself. Overall, I definitely enjoyed my time at Jackdaw. I'd say my favorite part of the meal was the hummus and chicken shwarma, but if the quesadilla had a thicker base it definitely would have won me over. The service and ambiance of the place were very solid, so overall I'd say I had a good experience. read more

Cool ambience but terrible food and service. First of all, although we had a reservation for 10 people, they told us they don't have seats for 2 people. Those two people had to wait standing for about 40 min until another table left and had spare seats. Although some people ordered jackdaw poached eggs which is supposed to come with puff pastry, jalapeño etc, their food came with two over cooked eggs and some salad. The plates didn't have even have a sauce or anything. To just get a glass of water took 45 minutes. On top of all of this, they charged an absurdly high covid charge to the bill. My god did the staff at Jackdaw take care of us this past weekend. So my incredible significant other pulled together a birthday brunch for a few friends, and the list kind of kept growing and growing (I mean, who doesn't love brunch, right?). We had a reservation for 11 and 16 ended up showing up..usually that would be an issue for a place as intimate as Jackdaw, but these guys were so cool about it and took everything in stride, from trying to rearrange furniture, to opening up their sidewalk shed just for us to hang in. They were also cool enough to let us prearrange a bottomless brunch, even though its not listed on their menu. And this wasn't a "OK 2 hours of mimosas and bloody's" kind of affair. They let us pick anything we wanted off their extensive and really well made brunch cocktail menu for a reasonable price. I, of course, had way to many espresso martini's, but hey I was nice and caffeinated all afternoon. Their food menu is also very well rounded. I went with the salmon poached eggs, which was tasty, and also had a chance to try the burger which was very well put together. The real winner were the homefries, make sure to get a side if your meal doesn't come with them. If I could give this place 6 stars for both the ambiance and the incredible staff I would. Such a great spot for brunch with their 2 for $11 drink specials with lots of options such as spicy margs, cold brew martinis & frose! So much better than just mimosas and that you don't have to stick to a time limit so you can order more or less depending on how you are feeling. The food was also really good! I was actually surprised I was able to get a reservation here for the same day. I met some friends here for brunch since the unlimited cocktails are all the rage. The drinks are great but it's kind of annoying that the timer starts for the entire table at the same time. So if one of your friends is running a little late you have to wait for them or start without them. You also have to order drinks and food at the same time. One thing I will say is that it is pretty slow to get another drink, we were trying to flag people down for a drink for some time. I'd say the trick is to order 2 at a time. Easily my new favorite spot in the city! Came here with four of my friends yesterday and we all had a great time! The ambiance is perfect, a proper mix of chill and buzzy, and the tunes are great (everything from early 00s hip-hop to current pop/dance tunes). Food and drinks are TOP NOTCH. The spicy/salty/sweet and Buffalo chicken flatbreads are cooked to perfection and enough to share between five hungry women, and the Jackdaw salad is both savory and filling. Came here with a small group of girlfriends for brunch a month ago and had an incredible experience. All of the food was delicious and they even have bottomless 2 hour drink special for brunch. I got the breakfast flatbread and all I can say is WOW. This flatbread is quite big, prefect for sharing! The flavor was great and I loved the toppings. I switched between a few of their drink options, but I liked their hot cider the best. It was great for the colder day that it was. During these pandemic times, I'll add the outdoor seating was great. We had a long bench table and our own heater we were able to control as well as dividers between tables. I felt safe dining here. The inside also looked SUPER adorable and dressed up for the holidays. (Though I know indoor dining is done for awhile.) This is what was ordered within my group: 5 frozen margaritas 1 house punch They gave us the wrong flavors, and the punch was so bad we couldn't finish it. Of course, they brought it with bacon. Again- didn't write it down. Home fries were very low in flavor and dry/ had to ask many times for ketchup. The only good thing was that the food arrived hot. I kept it simple with the grain bowl which had chickpea's, bok choy, and some other stuff. One thing I noticed off the bat was that it was a little oily. They had a bunch of different options so I am sure there were other items that were better than what I had. We also had the guacamole as a starter and it was average. The salsa was also average. Dont think chips were homemade either so it seemed like a common theme here. I want to give it 4 stars but it was only 3 stars. It was a serviceable meal but I'm not dying to come back. Had a fantastic time over brunch this past Sunday- *brunch specials run until 4PM *you can try as many drink specials on the brunch menu; you are not tied to 1 *drink special is 90 minutes; as long as those participating in the brunch special start before 4P, the drinking clock does not stop strictly at 4P *heated patios *brunch food was delicious I had the spicy margaritas on the brunch menu-they weren't spicy, but strong. I enjoyed it. Ordered the Irish roll for the meal and it arrived with plenty of portions. The dressing on the arugula salad was so refreshing. The flatbread was also delicious! Great for sharing.
