BBQ Chargrilled Tri Tip Plate w/Mashed Potatoes and Mediterranean Vegetables
    Donovan H.

In the 15+ years that I have been eating "Jacks Urban Eats" (at a variety of locations), my experience has always been good but not great. Truth be told is what I find surprising is that there just isn't an abundance of fast-casual restaurants that carry a ton of salad options. You have popular places such as "Panera Bread" as well as major supermarkets such as "Nugget", "Whole Foods", and "Raley's" (with create-your-own salad) but not much else. At least in the greater Sacramento area. Which takes me to Roseville; specifically "The Fountains @ Roseville" where this place has been around since 2012; four years after this upscale strip-mall officially opened. This is one of two locations in Placer County with the other being on Douglas Blvd in Granite Bay. For those that have been to a Jacks Urban Eats, the ordering process is confusing as the line snakes around and eventually when you get to the register, that is when you place your order. I remember previously when you used to write on a card of what type of salad you wish to order. Well, unfortunately they did away with that as all build-your-own salads are done electronically through the register. Not a fan of this method but it is what it is. During my most recent visit (which was on Sunday 7/27/2025 at around 1:40pm), it was packed to a capacity. Since this area was getting unusually cool weather (for July), this brought a ton of foot traffic into this place. After making my way to the register, I ordered their "Tri-Tip Plate". This was tender slices of their signature tri-tip while I decided on mashed potatoes & gravy, market vegetables, and chipotle-mango BBQ dipping sauce. My +1 went with a "Steak Salad" which uses mixed greens, bleu cheese, sundried cranberries, rosemary croutons, red onions, and balsamic vinaigrette. After paying the cashier, we both get numbers and proceed to the outdoor patio area (which is quite spacious) and enough room to accommodate at least 30-40 customers. Even though it was very busy, both our meals came out in about 7 minutes. As for my tri-tip, it was seasoned and tender but not a whole lot of flavor. Dipping it in the BBQ sauce made a huge difference but still just a 6/10 for me. My mashed potatoes were delicious but not piping hot and almost borderline lukewarm. The veggies were tasty though as this overall plate was just average at-best for me. As for her salad, there just wasn't a whole lot of steak in it. Which is disappointing since this was nearly $16 (after tax). Therefore, if you're looking for a solid salad, I would try "Garden of Eat'n" (only a mile away) as well as "Saladworks" in Lincoln. Overall, "Jacks Urban Eats" is decent but not a place I would go out of my way for. The employees here work their tail off so quality control might be an issue on days when it is super busy. But the restaurant itself was clean while the food was fresh. When you factor in the prices (which are a bit on the higher side), cozy ambiance, and slightly above average food, I am going to give The Fountains @ Roseville Jacks Urban Eats just an average three-star rating.

Last time I ordered a lg urban fry, they gave me a small. Today I got the lg I ordered, but there's hardly anything on it. The whole reason I order this instead of reg fries is because of the sauce. Very disappointing.

Always liked Jacks, an pleased with daughter's choice to go here. There were 6 of us plus baby and squeezed around a table inside. I ordered the make your own salad which was great. Pick your own lettuce, 6 topping. We had sandwiches of different types. Everything was good accept the fries were Luke warm, even the garlic fries. This was disappointing. Service was fairly fast, atmosphere was lively, slightly over air conditioned in our corner. We came after 1:30 so not as busy as it could be. Like I said fries needed to be hot out of fryer but they were not. Otherwise we enjoyed our lunch.

MYO salad with steak. Ate it with fries :)

I've been to plenty of different Jack's Urban Eats locations and for the most part they're generally good. The jacks urban fries are always a hit although I wish they would've let us also add garlic to them but you have to get one or the other, can't combine. I usually opt to make my own salad. The steak and most of the veggies were really fresh. The broccoli had multiple pieces that needed to be removed as they had brownish/gray spots. They no longer have the Gorgonzola dressing so I tried the Green Goddess and it was a good flavor, light and fresh. The Mac n cheese was very bland I remember it having more flavor in my past visits. Overall good for a quick bite.

My first time here and the plating for these meals are so full and taste delicious! We had to order the food at the front before we could find seating. Definitely gave a modernize dinner setting!

TLDR: receipt in my food?? Food is always yummy at Jacks, the staff at this location were very nice, establishment was clean. It would've been 5 stars but during this visit the food ticket was tucked under my salad? majority was just to the side of the plate, but a chunk of the receipt was laid beneath some leaves of the salad. Wasn't that big of a deal, I've just never had this happen and this didn't occur to any of the other plates of food. So maybe they forgot to take it out for my salad? I dunno

I ordered a BBQ chicken sandwich that comes with chicken, BBQ, crispy fried onions etc. what I received was BREAD. And dry chicken. I even called jacks to tell the girl on the phone extra onions and bbq sauce. Mind you I door dashed my order and can't get it replaced.

Everytime I meet up with my mom for lunch we always come to Jacks. My go is the buffalo chicken salad. We also enjoy a large jacks urban eats fries and share. There is plenty of seating inside and outdoor seating as well. Service is quick, they hand you a number sign and deliver it to you. ambiance is chill vibes. Clean bathrooms available as well.

Came here for a quick bite, before an appointment. I chose this place because no one was in line; perfect! As people start coming in after me, I'm watching my time and reluctantly asked about my order. Not only was I told i had not been waiting long, I was also presented with the girl slamming my order down In front of me!! " hereeeee you goooo!" Super rude! Foods good, the blonde rude girl not so much.

We love jacks, but the ever shrinking salmon is a real disappointment. Staff is great, location is nice, service is quick. But the price for what you're getting is starting to feel pretty silly. They also charge $7.50 for this portion of salmon to be added to salads.

The salads are really good and really large. The service was fast and friendly, and the urban fries are my new favorite junk food.

We came in on a Saturday night with about 20 minutes until closing and were hoping to eat in the shop. Given the timing, I was fully prepared to be told that dining in wouldn't be possible or that the kitchen was closing early. Instead, Tim welcomed us in without hesitation. He enthusiastically shared his sandwich recommendations, let us sample the signature sauces, and explained where he sources his fresh ingredients and why that's important. During the meal, Tim treated us to extra chips, let us try their pasta salad authentically crafted by a 92-year-old Italian woman, and shared how he strives to make sandwiches with the same level of care his grandma showed when making them for Tim as a boy. I left the Sandwich Spot that night supercharge and thrilled knowing that there are still restaurants in my area operating the old-fashioned way. The Pastrami Shop was roughly 7 miles from home, so it was worth the short drive. The place is right off Sunset and Whitney Blvd in Rocklin. It's a very small place so ordering to go is popular. But if you find a seat, definitely enjoy the local vibe of the regulars and talk with the owners for a bit. They really are passionate about their business, and serving their customers. I really enjoyed my half hot pastrami classic sandwich. The bread was toasted, mustard, provolone, and a side of pickles and jalapeños. Boy was it good! I really should have had the full size. Give er a shot if you're in the neighborhood. You won't regret it. I'll definitely stop by again. Loved it.

Perhaps 'basic' might be most appropriate…read more Let's first say that when I walked inside I nearly immediately turned around to walk out. The general look and atmosphere is off-putting. It seems devoid of product, somewhat disheveled and disorganized and lacking any substantive character. The place appears very 'long in the tooth', and no food products were evident anywhere. Added to it, no customers, yet some came later. Yet, I was hungry and stayed. To be honest, glad I did. They sell essentially one thing-PASTRAMI, and that's it. Well, indeed true to the restaurant name. Again, everything is basic! I opted for a Classic Pastrami Sandwich and was given the option for bread, I chose a soft roll, and provolone for cheese, plus mustard. At $22. for a sandwich, well, I had some hesitation. The place is apparently owned and run by a charming older couple who really are out to please, very friendly and congenial. I felt like I fell into an old Russian Jewish deli on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, no frills. Basic, but good food! OK, the Pastrami and the entire sandwich were AMAZING! The quality of the meat was top notch and quite good, probably some of the best around. The sandwich was HUGE and enough for two meals. I was offered peppers on the side and it was perfect for me to add some. The sandwich was nicely warmed/toasted, the cheese melted perfectly and it wasn't a difficult messy thing to eat as are many more upscale sandwiches and burgers these days. So, in the end it was worth it. The sandwich was indeed a surprise and excellent. Plus, they checked after I bit into it to be certain I was satisfied, with a smile. I got some chips and a drink and ate it there. Plenty of napkins were provided. Located in a rather funky 1960s shopping mall it's small, not that easy to find yet parking seems OK. Albeit it somewhat pricey the food is very good and the value is there. If you want Pastrami then this is the place. They sell bulk packages of it too. Try it. You might be as surprised by it.

They accidentally forgot the clover sprouts on my order. I love sprouts, so I was a bit disappointed when I realized they were missing. However the sandwich was great so it didn't ruin the meal. I loved their special tuna sandwich, called the Ocean Avenue, which was a delicious concoction. Disappointing Experience Due to Food Safety Concern…read more I visited this restaurant on Wednesday for lunch. This was actually my second time dining here. My first visit was pleasant, which is why I decided to come back. This time, I ordered what I believe was the tri-tip steak wrap. As I was finishing the first half of my wrap, I noticed a dead fly in my food. Needless to say, I was shocked and immediately lost my appetite. I walked to the front and asked to speak with a manager. The cashier who helped me was very friendly and professional. I explained the situation to her, and she relayed it to the manager. While I do appreciate that they refunded my meal, what disappointed me most was the manager's response. He never came over to speak with me, apologize, or acknowledge the situation directly. From where I was standing, he appeared visibly disturbed when informed, but he simply instructed the cashier to issue a refund and never addressed me as the customer. I understand that mistakes happen and that it was a busy lunch rush. However, finding a fly in a meal is a serious food safety issue, and I believe a manager or owner should take a moment to personally speak with the customer, show concern, and offer an apology. A little empathy would have gone a long way. The refund was appreciated, but the lack of acknowledgment and customer care left a much stronger impression than the refund itself. Unfortunately, after this experience, I'm hesitant to return.
