I've been to Jade (and it's previous iterations) only a handful of times in the last 20 years, and last night I was reminded why. We ended up entering through the "back door" (closest to Kamal Palace) and found it really odd that nobody was there in reception. We were instead greeted by a section of the restaurant that looks like that one room in your house that nobody uses so it just becomes a storage area. Aesthetically, it was jarring: one nook, which I assume previously was a second sushi bar, was piled with a mishmash of tables and chairs. It looked as if someone had ransacked the space, which made for an unwelcoming, chaotic sight (and certainly not the way you want to feel upon entering an establishment). As we proceeded toward the bar/seating area, we were waiting for someone to show us to a table or at least say hello. We received some glances from the sushi chefs, someone at the bar nodded, but that was it. A series of questions ran through our heads: "Is this one, big private party"?, "Are we dressed inappropriately?", "Are there some special rules here we don't understand?" We found a table and sat there for a few minutes without anyone really noticing. My husband got up and retrieved a few menus from a nearby table. As we were browsing, a staff member approached us. I can't recall what the exact conversation was like but it went something like this: Her: "Um, hi, how did you get in? The entrance to the restaurant is that way (pointing). I'm the receptionist." I tried to convey that we had no idea the main entrance was in such a hidden spot, that perhaps they should put up a sign on the other "entrance" to notify customers, and that we were sorry if it caused an inconvenience. Basically, I was trying to let her know that we were sure she was doing her job but that our alternative route into the restaurant was no fault of ours, either. Had I been in her shoes, I might have said something like "Good evening. Welcome! I suspect you both entered from the back, right. Sorry to have missed you. Actually, our main entrance is at the front corner of the building. The next time you come visit, I'll be happy to great and assist you!" We ordered the sushi boat. I mean, if you order two, individual sushi dinners, it's the same cost as the boat. So, we figured, go big or get suckered out of 10 pieces (or so) of sushi! Seemed like a better deal. The sushi was fine--what you would suspect taste wise--but not necessarily memorable. We didn't have drinks or dessert because the place didn't inspire me to want to hang around, even with some live music (which was a nice surprise, I have to say). As for service, our server was fine. I don't recall her name (because I don't think she told us) but she checked on us appropriately and was apologetic when she realized she forgot to give us soy sauce trays. What really bummed me out is that this place's vibe has really not changed in two decades. It wants to be a restaurant but feels more like one big bar. There are some really nice features (wall art and the red décor), but they get lost in the space. When I compare this spot to others on the water, like the Boathouse or Tantalum, well, let's just say they could take a page from their playbooks. read more

They have outside seating by the pier which is good and the wait staff wears masks. They do have paper menus, but they sanitize after use. The food was delicious, we ordered the standard: drinks, appetizers, and drinks, but there were a few items that we needed to remind the staff about because it had been so long since we had ordered it. Our waitress was extremely friendly and I appreciated her extra touch The ghost pepper wings pack a punch so beware. They aren't offering all you can eat sushi at the moment either so that was a bummer but all in all, we'd go again. read more

Decided to eat here while our kids were at the movies. It was a great disappointment. We were seated promptly. Then it took a while for our server to show up to take our drink order. Drinks were good I had the Dr. Sang my wife had a margarita. Appetizer was fried green beans. Spicy and well seasoned but not crips and very oily as if drowned in lard. For entrees we had the sweet and sour pork, orange chicken, and shrimp fried rice. The sweet and sour was not too bad but could of used more sweetness and I didn't see any pineapple in the dish. The orange chicken was totally flavorless, and was more like fried batter with hardly any chicken. The worst dish of the night was the fried rice, it literally ruined my appetite and I have a wait problem; I can't wait to eat. The rice was drenched in something very very oily. Couldn't tell if it was lard or margarine but it was literally running on my plate. The rice did not have any flavor and not even soy sauce helped. Spent $76 before tip and felt like I just got bamboozled. I would only recommend this place for drinks and their live music, but eat somewhere else before you go. read more

So this restaurant is nice looking. Beautiful location with a great view of the Marina. However it is incredible hard to find. The GPS led me way over by the theater when in fact the restaurant was on the CLEAR other side of the strip mall. Had to go past the movie theater, over a bridge, some stairs, and then down a hallway. The restaurant was practically empty. It was not Japanese food. It was more like a slew of different Asian foods. Which usually says to me they aren't particularly good at any one dish. The items on the menu were severely overpriced. My mom who loves actual sushi (not rolls) had to order the sushi al a carte. Between 7 and 11 bucks for 2 pieces of sushi. They didn't have a sushi dinner/plate like most other Japanese restaurants have. I was not too hungry so I got white rice and dumplings. My mom got her food first. She tried to get any wait staff's attention because she wanted chopsticks. She said excuse me loudly probably about 5 or more times. All the employees just walked past us. When our waiter finally came over we had to repeat ourselves a few times to tell him what we wanted. My rice was dry like it had been sitting out all afternoon. They brought me fresh rice. It tasted much better. The dumplings were good, but they didn't give me a plate until I mentioned I didn't have one. By then I had almost finished the dumplings so I didn't even need the plate. I told them I didn't want one. I was just letting them know for future reference to give people a plate. They brought us chopsticks finally. I would not recommend this place. I can't tell you how much I love Jade. The view is amazing, I love to watch the sunset. The food is even better, I crave the sauces. It's a great place to do a little bit of everything. They have live music, so it's fun to people watch. I love to dance you can do that too. I recommend the beef and broccoli and the pork dumplings..I am originally from New York so Chinese food is always BOMB but it's a hole in the wall of course... My wife and I have wanted to check out Jade since we heard about its opening. It is a hidden gem in the LBC. We finally made it happen, and I'm glad we did. We started with the lettuce wraps, with beef. Had a Thai influence which I love. The appetizer came out fast and pipping hot. Got some extra lettuce as we needed more to finish it was so good. We decided on two rolls. The Queen roll and the Ah Ah Ahi roll. Queen roll was formed like a crown with japa ceviche, very tasty. The Ah Ah Ahi was fresh and delicious. Drinks were very reasonable. Music is different most nights. Last night it had a mix of 80's music from across the board. The whole night was good vibes and people having fun. Our kind of place. We will be back for more of everything..lol. We want to try the Orange chicken and the Dumplings as well as more rolls. Let make start by saying make a reservation. I went to dinner with my daughter. I tried to book a reservation through Yelp but it was full. I did sign up for text alert if anyone cancels. It's located near the marina. It's plenty of parking. I checked in and was put on a 25-30 minute waiting list. I sat in lobby but it's plenty of outside seating to wait as well. The decor was nice. I wanted to catch the beautiful sunset so we wanted to sit near the dock. I had no cell reception inside this restaurant my carrier is VZ wireless so I was surprised. We ended up waiting longer than 30 minutes to get a seat outdoors. We was sat way in the front so not a good view of the sunset at all. We order appetizers. The shrimp was okay but the wontons was great. I ordered a couple of drinks. I was very satisfied. My waitress was very attentive and nice! My daughter had miso soup and it was freshly made for her. She loved it. Also we ordered shrimp fried rice. I think it needed more flavor. My daughter agreed. We sat outside for a bit. The lit up the area with nice lights. Not sure if I will go back. Chinese food needs a lot of work... quality was poor, vegetable fried rice loaded with peas, and no other vegetables. Orange chicken didn't have enough flavor and Mongolian beef was very tough. However, we ordered two sushi rolls and they were mind blowing. Really good! This place is very expensive, like emery too much especially for mediocre quality Chinese. I understand that this restaurant just opened with a new name and presumably new management. They have a lot of kinks to work out. 1. Parking is really challenging. Just be aware that you'll likely need to park in the center's lot and walk down the hill to Jade. Not a huge deal but I saw a bunch of people get stuck in a dead end trying to park near the restaurant. 2. We went for a really late lunch on a Saturday and discovered that it was happy hour. Score! The menu said "premium cocktails $7" so my wife, out of character, ordered a Mai Tai. Somehow that rang up as $12. No idea what is included in the $7 menu item, but don't be caught by surprised if you're operating on a budget. 3. The food was not great. We were hungry so we ate it but didn't really enjoy anything. We each ordered a "Chinese Lunch Box" - like a Chinese bento box, I guess - mine with Orange Chicken, hers with Walnut Shrimp. Both main courses were soggy and not very flavorable. The soup was actively unappealing and the salad was blah. We also got a spicy tuna cut roll, which was pretty good. 4. This used to be good under the old management and I used to go often. I decided to give it a try today. The waiter brought us two glasses of wine , mine was chipped and dirty and my friends was riddled with lipstick. The waiter took our glasses and proceeded to pour the wine from the dirty glasses into new glasses! I asked him what he was doing and he said he was sorry and then laughed. I asked for the manager and explained to her what happened and she said "thank you for bringing it to my attention". She never apologized and went on chatting with a man. I walked by the waiter and he started laughing. We went back and sat at the table and no one came to help us so we got our stuff and left. Okay what an AWESOME SPOT! We came for dinner and absolutely loved our meal and drinks! We met some pretty awesome people who work here too!! Jared greeted us with a warm welcome, very friendly and awesome. Then Sahara, who we love from another restaurant. And then we met our favorite girl from Don the Beachcomber RIP, her name is Jennifer. So this place is pretty awesome!! Oh and the food was wonderful!! The music is awesome and they have music Thursday through Sunday. Oh and tomorrow night The Rayford Brothers are plating here and the band starts at 8pm so even us old guys can enjoy! First time here since new ownership. Love the outdoor patio. My favorite is the Bento Boxes I like a sample size of things. Unfortunately they are only available during happy hour. Went in Saturday night to see Breezin play....the only reason I went in. I ordered the Korean rib plate and it took a long time to come and when it came most of the meat was scorched, so black I couldn't believe it. I was asked how I wanted it cooked and I ordered it medium. I was disappointed and ate what wasn't completely burned. This meal was $28. I didn't send it back, I should have. I have ordered it before and it was good. We had servers coming to the table to deliver food that wasn't ours about ten different times. Obviously they clearly didn't know the tables or who ordered what. The place was completely full and maybe they are understaffed. A couple hours before the band was to quit I was asked to close my bill. The waiter said he needed to close it out. This isn't the first time this has been told to me. I assumed he had to clock out but that wasn't the case, he continued to work for at least an hour. This seems to be common practice at this restaurant. Our table was still socializing and drinking, so why close the tab? I will not be returning. Overpriced, and disappointed Oh yeah the ladies restrooms floor is always wet. Huge slip and fall hazard. Went there last night and customer service was awful. We had a table reservation for 12 people at 8:00 pm our table was not ready, after a long wait finally we got a table. We never received the menus, finally one of friends got up at got the menus for our gruop, after a while our server came and even thought we were ready to order our dinner, he said only drinks, we also order glasses of water, however drinks came but no water, then, another firend get up and went to the bar and got us water. Then, when the waiter came, he said we Can Not have Separate checks!!! I asked him if we can have our tabs separaste between two people, he said "No" However; the waiter made an exception with "One" of my friends, she was able to paid her own tab. So the waiter can pick and choose who have their own tab. I guess one have to be lucky to get own tab. Finally, our food arrived the rice was dry, my friends and I agree on that, it tasted like was cooked the day before or so, the rest of my food was ok. My husband and I were excited to try Jade after the closing of Forbidden Garden. Unfortunately, we never had a chance to order anything. Our waitress stopped by twice for 5-10 seconds, but she wouldn't linger long enough for us to order though we were ready. The restaurant wasn't *that* busy, and we could see her chatting with the bartender inside for 5 minutes.  20 minutes later, without food or drink orders in, we gave up. After our waitress malfunction, we went next door to Kamal Palace, which always has great food, amazing service, and honestly, a better outdoor view  We may try Jade again next year once their staff turns over. Great place to hear music and dance on a weekend night! The bartending staff was in high speed, and they NEVER, EVER stopped, but always came back to take care of us (3 in our party), and that is how you take care of your customers! My party thought the food was delicious, although I didn't have a meal there. It smelled delicious, and I'll have to get back on that..... Great ambiance and a staff that hustled all night all. Hope to see the band there again, they played some good great genres--from classic rock to Johnny Cash to rockabilly to surf tunes. All danceable and fun! Lot's of fun locals there, and ran into many friends. Everyone was happy to have a decent band there (in that space) for a change, so I hope they keep up the entertainment. God, I really hate to do this, but I definitely have to. After having a long, exhausting day at the beach with my family being from out of town we decided to stop here and eat since we were craving Chinese food. I ordered a large amount of food since we were all starving and did not touch any of it. Everything that came out one dish after the other was worse than the previous. Not to mention it all came out within minutes of ordering, which is obviously signs that the food is not fresh. It was not even edible let alone, tasty or hot. Can't believe a restaurant in such a beautiful location is being wasted on such god-awful food. Definitely will never ever be back. JADE ON THE WATER!! What a hidden gem!! We were greeted by a hostess named Marie who was very friendly and sweet and was able to seat us right away. Our Server Amanda was extremely helpful and kind answering all of our questions about the menu. The manager on duty Shawn check on us frequently and made us feel at home. The chef named Robert made a beautiful presentation of delicious food and even brought us complimentary edamame. Overall we had an amazing experience and I highly recommend eating here! read more

Jade has come under new management or at least new chef in the kitchen. I took my girlfriend for dinner Thursday night and the service was excellent! I have been going for years and the head Chef and Fabin another chef both came out multiple times to see if our meal was good. They're making changes to the menu and to the set-up. The food and drinks are great. Feeling like I was deceived on the drink menu is the reason for the 1 star. Jade has a Happy Hour from 3-6 and we took advantage of it today. They have a menu with a Happy Hour page that lists food items and a tiny bit of information on the top of the page that states the prices for well drinks, premiums drinks, etc. (This is from the website: $5 Wells, $7 Select Premium Cocktails, $1 off Beers, $7 glasses of Rodney Strong Chardonnay & 14 Hands Cabernet) We were provided a separate drinks menu when we got there. It included a list of all of specialty cocktails, wines, beers and sakes they offered. I wasn't aware there was actually a difference between a premium cocktail (NOT LISTED ON THE MENU) and the specialty cocktails on the menu. Thinking the specialty cocktails were part of the Happy Hour, we ordered more than one and when we got the bill, we saw we were charged full price. But before we payed, we spoke the to the manager. The manager made it seem, multiple times, that we should have known the difference between a premium cocktail, not listed on the menu, and the specialty cocktails. She stated premium drinks are what you want the bartender to make, like a rum and coke. So we asked how would have known. She continued to point that there was difference in the two words "premium" and "specialty" on the menus. Also, she added no one would have a martini (and some other drink) as part of the Happy Hour*. Unfortunately, her responses didn't resolve anything and just made us angry and it got heated verbally. I think the manager could have taken a moment to look at it from our side and paused before making the comments she did because it may have helped the issue be resolved in a completely different way. This Chinese restaurant serves very salty food . The shrimp chow mien tasted rancid . The sushi at happy hour tasted flavorless. Even though the atmosphere was pleasant enough and the service was excellent, the appetizers on the happy hour menu which I chose spoiled the pleasant ambience. Perhaps there are better appetizers and dishes which I should've chosen. Whatever you do steer clear of chow mein! read more
