Recently heard about JANE@NIGHT (5-9PM /Wed-Sat), which they serve gastropub-ish menus and drinks that you would find them in K-Town. Went there and ordered several dishes including; Kalbi (marinated Korean BBQ beef short rib), Green Onion Pancakes, Bossam (braised belly), Korean BBQ chicken, Karage Chicken, Army Stew, and Sliders made with Korean style pork and shrimp patties. We also had some white wines and reds that paired well with the food. All of the dishes that we ordered tasted fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. JANE@NIGHT also have variety of beer, wine, soju and makgeolli (Korean Rice Wine). Don't need to travel all the way to K-town since foods are fresh and authentic. All and all, tasty foods, portions are ideal, excellent service, very reasonable prices in a fine ambiance. read more

I don't know how we didn't notice that Jane started serving dinner. Not only that, but Korean food. I read some reviews the majority were 4-5 stars. We decided to try it. We went early in case it was crowded. It wasn't. It was rather lonely there being the only patrons. We aren't Korean but we have exposed to Korean culture and food and been to Korea a few times over the last 20+ years. We ordered separate meals, although it could be shared family style. I love meat so I ordered LA Kalbi, my wife ordered sizzling hot skillet bibimbap. We both enjoyed our food as it was well prepared and tasty. This is a happy addition to the local area. Normally we would have to travel to Ktown or La Cañada for Korean cuisine. However, I feel that the word needs to get around to the locals to patronize the dinner time. It will be great addition to the neighborhood to have broader spectrum of food choices on this side of York. By the way the top review is absolutely ridiculous stating some conspiracy theory that Jane was behind a review of a nearby cafe that said to go to Jane's instead. This guy is nuts. I've been to this place twice and love it. It is a cute place where the home has been converted into a restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor seating. They have adopted the open seating system, so just order and pay at the counter and take your number to an open table of your choice. The servers here are all nice and accommodating. One of reasons I've enjoyed it here. They have enough staff to give you endless great service. I wish I got pictures during my second visit here but a picture from my first visit will be good enough. The Jane's Omelette was good and very cheesy. The Classic French Toast was absolutely delicious and ordered it during both my visits. You can taste the cinnamon so it was really fragrant with the strawberries and bananas. I also tried my cousins Eggs Benedict it was just as good along with Breakfast Quesadilla. The only complaint I would make is the parking. There is only street parking, but so far it has not been tough to find parking around there. Probably my new favorite breakfast place! I cannot believe I've lived around this area for years and never stopped by to try this place! If you're not looking close enough you might miss the place. It looks like a house and there are no big signs. Also I do not believe there's a parking lot, just street parking if you're lucky. Came here on a Tuesday morning and found street parking in front of the cafe. There are a few tables outside, on the porch, and inside as well. Dog friendly! No table service - you walk inside and order at the register. Woman at the front was very friendly! Even complimented my nails :) My friend and I ordered the Jane Omelette which came with fresh fruit and potatoes and also the Classic French Toast. Those were the two most popular items on their Yelp page, so why not! They also had fresh-squeezed orange juice, so two of those as well. Once you order they give you a number and you're able to choose where you want to sit. It wasn't too busy this morning so there were lots of tables to choose from. And umbrellas to block out the sun! We waited a few minutes and the food came out. We were actually surprised with how big the portions were! We split the food and were full just from the omelette! They have an open seating concept where you go in, order and pay at the counter, take your number and find a seat either indoors or outdoors. I went on a Sunday and there were plenty of tables during lunch time but when I went on the next Saturday around the same time, it was pretty full. It doesn't take too long to get your food. If there was a wait, it wouldn't be too long. The servers bring your food to your table. I've had Jane's Omelette, Classic French Toast, Breakfast Quesadilla, and Sweet Potato Fries. The omelette was super cheesy and good. The Classic French Toast was big enough for two meals, it wasn't super dense or too sweet. The Breakfast Quesadilla was crispy and they don't skimp out on the bacon. It was good with egg, bacon, and cheese altogether. The Sweet Potato Fries were so good! I loved the aioli that came with it. It complemented the fries really well. You'll definitely see this restaurant as it stands out in 'yellow' among all the homes on York.The only thing is that parking can be a hassle since only street parking is available. I was excited to try this place as I recently moved in the area. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. While the place is super cute, the employees were not very welcoming. - I came here by myself and I think I waited about 30 minutes after ordering before going back and asking how much longer my food would take.... i was told it would come right out - it did around 10 minutes later. I'm not sure how 2 different parties who ordered after me, one of which was at least 6 people, all got their food before me. - I was already pretty much starving by the time the food came. I ordered the eggs benedict and they tasted kind of strange. Some bites were extremely salty, while others not at all. The hollandaise sauce was kind of dried up and just didn't taste like I am used to. The potatoes were crisp on the outside but undercooked inside. I was barely able to finish half of my dish. The food did not sit right with me and I actually felt kind of nauseous after. Probably from too much salt.... - SO MANY PLASTIC CUPS. they have plastic cups by all the water dispensers and serve all cold drinks in plastic cups..... when they have perfectly good glasses behind the counter. I was horrified at the amount of plastic cups left on the table as most people get a drink and a cup of water... This doesn't seem like a place where most of their business is take-out, so it's ridiculous that they aren't putting in any effort whatsoever to reduce plastic waste and encourage people to use reusable cups. read more

We were looking for a local place that had Cobb salad as that is what I wanted for Mother's Day. Jane was the first place that came up with Cobb salad and 90042 in a Yelp search. We LOVE what we got from ordering to go (this is COVID-19 time). Two burgers/fries and my wonderful Cobb salad!! The ranch dressing is amazing - so full of herbs! The order was perfectly prepared as to how we requested it. This is definitely going on rotation. No need to go into Pasadena for my Cobb salad fix - I can get it close to home!! Such a cute, hidden gem of a brunch place in Highland Park! I'm glad I decided to have brunch here with my family. I've always passed by and seen the place packed and I was curious to see what the buzz was all about. I went Sunday morning around 9:30 am and we ordered the Spinach Omelette, Classic Burger, Classic French Toast, and Hot Chocolate. The price for all four was about $40. The employees were very friendly and we received our food quickly. I'm glad we ordered quickly because right after, a lot of families came in and the place became packed. The food was delicious! The burger was all right, but the fries that came with it (garlic and aioli) were delicious and I couldn't get enough of it. The french toast was sweet but not too sweet, which I preferred. I'm usually concerned with french toast tasting too "egg-y" but it was the right amount of batter. It was sweet enough without pouring the maple syrup. It was fluffy and I loved it. The omelette was very filling and healthy. Very tasty and just amazing! Overall, I would come back again. For. Sure. Finally tried Jane after seeing my favorite youtubers @wahlietv rave about it! We came on a Sunday around 9:30 and we beat a small crowd. The interior of Jane is so home-y I loved it, perfect for this overcast day! I think there's usually outdoor seating but since the weather wasn't so great, indoor was our only option. We paid at the counter, took our number and sat at a table. The food came out SO incredibly fast I felt like it was less than five minutes. My friend who had been before said that the food generally comes out that fast even when it's packed. The breakfast sandwich was really good, the eggs and brioche bread were so fluffy!! The only part I didn't like inside was that there was so much tomato lol but I guess that's what I ordered. The restaurant doesn't have a parking lot so you'll need to find street parking in the nearby neighborhood! Anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with caramelized bananas on French toast. As I was looking through Yelp for breakfast places to eat out I stumbled upon Jane's. James showed me miraculous pictures of French toast covered with caramelized bananas and... caramelized oranges! I also saw that it was topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce covered the whole entire bottom of the plate that the French toast sat on top of. French toast has got to be my favorite breakfast/brunch food. I adore when it's topped with tasty and sweet things so this was perfect. Besides the fact that it made for an awesome Snapchat photo, it tasted amazing. The fruit was perfectly caramelized and the best part was swiping each bite of French toast through the caramel sauce. Scott had the eggs Benedict. Gorgeously plated and eggs perfectly cooked. If you're in the north east side of LA, try this place. The place was hopping but not so packed that you couldn't get a table. Tres chic and literally a hop and a skip from where our Airbnb was. My go-to brunch spot in Highland Park is here in this cute house. I've been here 3 times and I'm surprised I haven't wrote a review for this place! I usually go for the Jane's Omelette which comes with bacon, cheese, onions, and a side of roasted potatoes and fruit. The roasted potatoes are amazing and crispy. I pair it with a side of ketchup and Cholula or hot sauce. The omelette is also topped with avocado and ugh, SO GOOD. I've tried their kimchi fried rice and french toast here and all is really good. I definitely recommend coming here if you haven't tried it already. The prices are normal HP brunch spot prices and we were going to settle for another HP brunch place, but this place always pulls me back! Street parking available all around and cute environment. I was highly impressed by the food, as I shared the 2x2x2, Steak Sandwich, and Kimchi Fried Rice among my group of three. One of the worst customer service i've received. I have been to this place a couple times but this time we ordered the mushroom omelette and it was by far gross, we got the french toast as well which was actually good. We let them know we didn't like the omelette and the server didn't even ask what was wrong with it or if we'd like a refund/ replacement. The manager didn't want to give us a refund for a food we didn't eat and the least she could have done was offer a replacement since we already paid for it. My review would be 5 stars, but for the unfriendly (bordering on rude service). The restaurant is immaculate, airy and bright. The food is delicious, and prices are pretty much on par with other restaurants that are similiar. However if service is important to you, you will be disappointed. I was recently in Los Angeles with my husband to visit our daughter. We were needing a place for brunch before going bowling and my daughter chose Jane for its location and also because they serve eggs benedict, which is my favorite. When we pulled up in front of the yellow house, we weren't sure it was an actual restaurant because there was no signage visible from the front of the house but we could see diners sitting in the front patio. The inside of Jane is open and airy. You go up to the counter and place your order and pay for it at that time. They then give you a number and you choose a seat either inside or outside. They also have a back patio for seating. Our breakfast was ready in a very short time and brought to our table by one of the employees. I had a cappuccino and of course the eggs benedict. My daughter ordered a fruit bowl and my husband had french toast piled high with strawberries and bananas. My eggs benedict were delicious and had the addition of spinach under the egg for some added vitamins. It was truly delicious and we really enjoyed our breakfast there. This was my very first time trying huevos rancheros & I am glad the lady at the counter recommended this to me. It was an explosion of flavors. There were onion, tomato, green pepper, jalapeño, fried tortillas, baked eggs, cheese and sour cream. I love the texture from the fried tortillas. Every bite was amazing. We came here on a Saturday right after opening. Great outdoor seating area. Interior decorations and seating feels like home. Which is a great thing. The food was good. Pancakes were light and fluffy. The cinnamon on the fresh toast pairs well with mascarpone. The iced mocha was good. We paid $60 for a family of 4. That is good value for the food. Do not live in the area so checked restaurants near the shops we were visiting and Jane came up. The menu had a good selection for both breakfast and lunch and the house looked quite charming. We arrived right before noon, placed our order with the very pleasant gal at the register, and sat outside on the front patio. There is also plenty of seating inside and on the back patio.
