The torta was a total disappointment, the chicken was veey skampy dry and greasy, the French toast breakfast was just ok. Although we were thankful they were open in Christmas morning it was horrible that a family brought in a kid who played his portable tablet that was playing so loudly that we couldn't even talk as we needed to scream to be able to heard each other. The family of the boy was screaming at each other as the tablet volume was louder than the restaurant music and it was extremely loud and chaotic. While I noticed that I wasn't the only one annoyed by the family behavior I asked politely to the waitress if they could approach the family and just ask them to lower the volume of the tablet.....as the waitress said that she couldn't ask them to do that neither we decided just to order a box to get our food to go...it was very sad that the restaurant didn't care about the comfort of others patrons but the table with the uneducated clients that will have not clue that their behavior was disturbing others...another child that won't be aware that his behavior was not appropriate. This little whole in the wall is exactly what our town needed! It's only open for breakfast and lunch (7-3) so make sure you get there before 3pm with enough time to eat! I came in with my husband and a friend and all of our food was served with a smile and a sense of true happiness from the people that work there...because it's family owned. You can totally tell the food was made with LOVE! The posole was BY FAR my favorite thing there so far but I plan on coming in at least once a week to try everything there. My husband works in the area so he plans on eating there much more often. I am Puertorriqueña and my husband is Mexican, so we know good Latin food. Where do I start....long wait to sit even though there were open tables. Long wait till we received our drinks, both with no ice. The server finally took our order and our food didn't come out for almost an hour-no joke. There were little gnats(?) all around our table and on the window. We asked for a glasses with ice for our drinks and they brought them. Our food was meh. Needless to say, we wouldn't recommended nor would we go back. Cute little cafe in Moorpark! It's fairly new so we decided to check it out on Saturday morning for brunch. Lots of parking since it's located in the Moorpark Plaza, same plaza as Wood Ranch BBQ. The place is small inside with lots of tables for two people. It was starting to get packed as we were leaving with big families coming in for a weekend breakfast, so I can imagine that it could get chaotic fast. Now, for the food. I can't believe they served chicken and waffles! I didn't bother looking at anything else because as soon as I saw that, I had to try it. I love chicken and waffles, and I was not disappointed. The waffles were nice and fluffy, the chicken was moist and full of flavor. Hubby had the chicken fried steak and he said the gravy was on point. Our waitress was also very nice and polite. I am writing this as I lick the syrup from my fingers...this review is long overdue and well deserved, so it can't wait. I am literally here like three times a week because I can't get enough. The food is fresh, flavorful, and affordable. I wake up craving the insanely delicious Challah French toast paired with a jarro (Mexican mug, hence, the name) of cafe de olla. Second favorite is the chilaquiles torta...so damn yummy! On the weekends, I look forward to the pozole, it's comfort in a bowl. Service is always impeccable! My husband and I loved to come here for lunch whenever we were in the area. Now, with the pandemic and the stay-at-home order we are not able to visit Jarro's - one of the losses that I notice.
