At writing, Jason's has 3.5 stars. They deserve more. I think they should be closer to 4, so my 5 star is to boost that average. Altogether, it's a great venue. Pleasant and cozy atmosphere with a nice deck and a cabin-style interior. You can see a bit of the lake and the beach through the trees and parking lot. Service was great, with the hostess and waitress both very friendly and attentive. The food tasted great. I got the Sierra Stormy cocktail, calamari, New York steak, and Apple Pie ala mode. Everything was cooked appropriately. The one thing is at this price point, the presentation of the food left a bit to be desired. Nonetheless, still a wonderful vacation dining experience. read more

We stopped in here for dinner as it was getting late and we were hungry. We read the reviews, but took a chance. We sat outside on the back balcony. The view is obstructed, but a nice lake view under the trees. However; there was a horrible sewer smell. Our waiter was horrible! Our salads came with our entree so our entrees got cold. Most restaurants bring your salads before your entrees. The salads were nothing special. I ordered the chicken guacamole sandwich. It was nothing to write home about. My husband ordered the guacamole burger and he didn't care for it. Honestly we will never eat here again unless we were so starving and nothing else was open. We went to Jason's beachside grille yesterday for happy hour. We had just arrived in the area and were definitely hungry for food but it was a little early for dinner so we ended up at Jason's happy hour. We had been traveling all day and didn't know what we were in the mood for so our bartender, Kenny, just told us to sit back and he would suggest drinks until one sounded right. He did the same with the appetizers and within minutes we had exactly what we didn't even know we wanted and it was perfect! We had a great time and loved what we had. The grilled artichoke was great and the nachos were amazing. Very big portions. Definitely didn't need dinner later. Kenny made our night and the drinks and food were great as well. I have been going to Jason's for over 30 years and while their dood had always been good, their standout product has always been their salad bar. Sadly, as I was informed by our waitress the other night, it does not exist anymore. It was phased like a lot of other things during Covid and never brought back. Though their ambience and the service were excellent as usual, the food was so poor that the absence of the salad bar is pretty much the death knell for my tradition. For a beautiful sunny day at Tahoe, this place can't be beat for lunch. A very relaxing, laid-back atmosphere is very much provided on the patio with a view of the lake and mountains filtered past a parking lot at the public beach. The menu is varied, and I opted for a Nashville Chicken sandwich with fries. It says 'spicy', and it is quite suitable for my palate and taste. It is a huge sandwich, and halfway through, I had to resort to eating it with a fork and knife as it merely fell apart in my hands. Although the chicken is perfectly cooked and tender, they should slice the breasts so they fit the sandwich better. All in all, it was a very tasty and enjoyable meal. Service was great and obvious they train staff well, attentive, friendly and professional. I will definitely come here again to try something new. Do walk down by the beach. Today was very bad the Mac and cheese for my kid was runny...the fries cold the burger zero flavor like warm the bread for burger 7eleven bread. Beach view!! Good food; friendly, prompt service; and a pleasant ambiance. I enjoyed my Cajun Salmon with mash potatoes and green beans. My daughter liked her fish and chips, and my daughter liked her macn cheese and lemonade. Portions were good size and service was very quick. The service was attentive, friendly, and quick, and we felt well taken care of. The outdoor seating was great and not too hot and enjoyed the views of the beach. Prices were reasonable and they have a huge drink menu! Parking is 10 dollars but we found some down the street so not big deal. We will be back! read more

Went here after a long drive to Kings Beach. For parking we had to pay $10 near the beach since there wasn't any at the front. Our group of 9 had to wait almost an hour on a Thursday evening. I ordered the Mai Tai while waiting at the Sand Bar, and it was to my liking, "It did not taste watered down." Once we were seated, we got our drinks right away. We sat outside since the weather was nice. The staff was friendly and helpful with questions we were asking about the area. The scallop pasta was very good that my mother in law wished she had ordered that instead of the clam chowder soup. I thought the clam chowder soup was better than other places, and I wanted more, but I also wanted to save myself for the pasta. I would recommend coming here and giving this place a try. read more

While visiting Reno I wanted to make a quick trip to Tahoe because it's only a 45 minute drive. I love to eat chicken wings as you can see through all my reviews. So I had to visit this place when I saw their menu. Unfortunately, the Wings had little flavor besides the sauce that it was tossed in. The wings were really dry. We came here for dinner while on vacation in Kings Beach. Were wanted some casual but not too casual. This place was perfect. They have options of eating inside or on the patio. Not too rocking and not too boring either. Just right. Okay now let's get to the food... we ordered the calamari appetizer- not the best I have ever had but not the worst. Kinda middle of the road. My husband ordered the Prime Rib with rice pilaf. Huge portion of meat cooked to perfection. He was very happy. The rice was super good too. I ordered the roasted half chicken with mashed potatoes. I'm telling these were the best mashed potatoes I've ever eaten. They were amazing. My husband kept reaching over and taking forkfuls . The chicken was great too. I can't believe I eat almost the whole thing. I was hungry from all the hiking too. Hit the spot. The service was great from the back of the house. Food came out and good pace after ordering. The front of house service was okay too. I do recommend this place for everyone, couples and for families. It is a very cozy and comfortable place. Awful experience. Do not recommend under any circumstances. The woman server on the afternoon 7/7/25 was so incredibly rude for no reason from the second we walked in. And we ran into others we knew who were eating there and they said she was rude to them, the service was awful and food not edible. First she tried to say we couldn't eat outside because we were ordering appetizers, salads and dessert. She had to go check and was very rude about it. Check to see if we can eat outside? Why? We were ordering lots of food! Makes no sense especially since the restaurant was empty. I had 2 dogs in a stroller and walked to the back. MULTIPLE places including BringFido said the patio was dog friendly. We would have not brought our dogs if we had known it was not. Not only are they not dog-friendly, she was SO RUDE snapping at us that dogs can't be on the patio. Where was the sign? They told us we would need to order to-go and go sit on a disgusting, dirty picnic table by the trash cans. For gross food? Yeah don't think so.We went down the street and had delicious food, and excellent service, with our dogs. Bummer such a disgusting restaurant with rude servers occupies premium space in Tahoe. I'm here on vacation. Got seated and waited for 20 minutes to be served. Nobody showed up to take our order.

I'm a Kings Beach local so am not going to be too hard on this place especially since we visited last week for dinner rush during peak tourist season. That said, my friend who has really been looking forward to coming back here probably won't want to patronize again mainly because of the hostess. We called from about 5 minutes away to check the wait and were told inside seating would be a 5-10 minute wait and we couldn't be added to the list over the phone. We walked up to the hostess 5 minutes after calling and were told 25 minute wait for first available seating. My friend complained to the hostess (which didn't help things) but put his name on the list anyway. There is a really nice outdoor live music area with tables and chairs to wait in that has a bar where you can order some classic Jason's appetizers so we took advantage of all that. This helped turn my friend's attitude around ... until he went back to check with the hostess after about 40 minutes because our little puck hadn't buzzed or lit up (all three of us were watching it). Hostess said she had made our puck go off. We were seated right away at the best outdoor table. We enjoyed the dusky hue'd skies over a vast swath of the lake. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and communicated great. The new york steak and prawn/scallop pasta were 8 and 7 out of 10 respectively. The scallops were a little tougher than most places. The beef barley soup was a bit too salty for my taste so I put some of the penne pasta in and it became the best of all the dishes we ordered. The chocolate cream pie two of us split for dessert was too rich for me though and I regretted having eaten most of it. I didn't think the pie's flavor was anything special either and the texture was too firm. We walked back along the beach and sat on a nearby bench enjoying the nearly full moon reflecting on the water. The price was overall a good value considering the location. Would be overpriced if we didn't get a table with a lake view though. read more

This was our second time here, and we again had a positive experience. Good food; friendly, prompt service; and a pleasant ambiance. I enjoyed my grilled chicken sandwich, my husband liked his fish and chips, and my daughter liked her chicken strips, bacon, and lemonade. We appreciated the ability to swap out fries for a house salad, but wished we had been warned to expect an up charge. The service was attentive, friendly, and quick, and we felt well taken care of. The fact that they brought our 5 year old a coloring sheet and crayons right away was awesome. The indoor seating was cozy on a winter day, though it's a bit dark inside. During our first visit - last summer - we sat on the back patio and really enjoyed the views. Overall, this is great place, and I'm surprised by the mediocre reviews. We stopped at Kings Lake for some outdoor time with the kids before driving back home to the Bay Area. This place is located right next to the lake which is perfect as we can walk over and have lunch after playing! Pros: -It's super close to the lake so you can walk around before and enjoy some outside time (maybe more so in the summer as in the winter it's freezing!) but the views are worthwhile especially to snap a few photos while you're visiting Lake Tahoe. This place is so convenient having it close by! -Kid friendly: they have high chairs, kids menu and crayons and paper for the kids. -Food is delicious!! I had the salmon ceaser salad, hubby had the BLT and the kids had the pasta and fish and chips. Everything was devoured!! -Place is spacious and has some nice decorations inside Cons: -It opens at 12 on weekdays. We literally had to walk around waiting for them to open. Lots of hungry kids by then! -There's a parking lot where the lake is but you need to pay $5. There is parking on the other side close to the street but not as many options. -Service: our food arrived in ample of time. However our server was a bit too quick on wanting to take our plates, kept checking in on us TOO often, and it was hard to enjoy the meal in peace. It's one thing to check in if we need anything, it's another to do that 3 or 4 times. So that wasn't appreciated. That's why I took 1 star off. All in all, I still recommend you try this place out as it is very family friendly and the food is pretty decent! Just be weary of possible "overbearing" service. read more
