I ordered Avocado toast on Uber. It has an option for opting out of Guacamole (which is avocado with added veggies) I didn't want guacamole. I wanted avocado toast. So I opted out of the guacamole. Well I got dry ass bread and fruit. I am Mexican and avocado means just that. Guacamole is avocado + added veggies. I paid $20 for a slice of bread cut in half. This is total bs! I don't often come here but when I'm kn the mood for a salad or half sandwich and soup combo, this hits the spot. Food was good, service was great and staff were busting to keep the place tidy and clean. One comment, the stable feel sticky at times but that comes from using the wrong product but I will say, the ladies kept it clean. I love their sweet and hibiscus tea. The complimentary icecream is always a treat. I am sure the wraps and deli sandwiches are freshly made. At work, we had an early morning meeting and we got breakfast sausage burritos from Jason's Deli. The sausage was spicy. I actually bit on a peppercorn. Over all it was good. Had their coffee as well and it was ok. The fruits were horrible. It wasn't fresh fresh, especially the grapes. Here I thought you were a slightly upgraded Subway, and you have decent pasta options, a fairly extensive salad bar, several daily soup options, including a decent spicy seafood gumbo, and best of all, free soft serve cones for dessert! This seems to be the magical unicorn "halfway point" for you and anyone else you know downtown that you want to meet for lunch. No matter where I am and no matter who I am eating with, we always end up here because it is halfway. Jason's is a pretty solid chain. I have been going to their various franchises for many years. You know what to expect - nothing will be bad, nothing will be mind-blowing. You will leave content, full, and not broke - so that is pretty much all you can ask from a chain like this. It would be awesome if they took the spirit of "spring cleaning" a bit more seriously though. If that was too subtle, it can be pretty crumb-ridden and dirty at times. Although I've had positive experiences and good food in the past, today I ordered a "steak" Poboy. The bread veggies and cheese were spot on. The meat however could not be disguised as or called steak anywhere on the planet earth. I don't know how you can make that dry, but someone made a concerted effort. One of the few restaurants that is still open downtown. Social distancing is not a problem. Food is the same as it was pre-COVID.

Unfortunately with downtown locations of popular chains the quality can drastically diminish. This place is no different. Go to a Jason's in the suburbs and it's a 5* experience. Took upwards of a half hour to get any update on my meal which I was told to wait and they'd bring it to me. Note this was during lunch time. I've never had a good experience at Jason's. The sandwiches I get are always really bland and dry. But it seems like no one else has this issue. The salad bar is nice. This is a great downtown lunch option. The Jason's chain serves consistently good food. This location has their game down pat. The line moves swiftly and orders come out correctly. They have set up self serve kiosks for people to get soup and salad. Punch in your order, get your drink, collect you plate/bowl and get your stuff. How easy is that? Jason's Deli is a good "go to" downtown lunch spot. Though the downside is that the lunches get so busy you MAY end up waiting in line for up to 20+minutes if you come too late. For an hour lunch that is pretty significant. My key to quickness is that I order online and just pick it up when I get there. Drawback? It's a brown bag...but I am there more for networking and hanging out with my friends and fraternity brothers while there. The free frozen yogurt is a plus! My picks are usually the Sergent Pepper (sliced roast beef w/ red and green bell peppers, onions with melted provolone on a french baguette roll) or the Half Muffaletta. Better work downtown and be able to walk there though! Parking is a hassle though if you circle around for a little bit you can usually find street parking. read more

J's Deli is my favorite place to eat hands down. It is so simple yet so good. I always get something called the traditional, which is a make your own sandwich. I visit this location often because it is close to work and sometimes we also have catered lunches from here. The food is consistent and there is a wide range of options. Even with a steady lunch crowd, I have never had an incorrect order. The staff is usually fast, friendly, and knowledgeable. Seating can get crowded at times but there is a second side that most people are unaware of. The salad bar is cleaned frequently and fully stocked. I have never had a bad meal from the sandwiches or pasta choices. Free ice cream is always a plus and I make sure to have a cone before heading out. I withhold one star because I think the establishment could focus on holding back some salt/sodium in the dishes though they do a wonderful job of promoting anti-biotic free meats. read more

The sandwiches are good but the service is absolutely horrible. I bought the sandwich there this morning at 9am. I ordered my food with the old Spanish lady who wears the glasses. She is so mean not even said "thank you". I ordered whole wheat bread with egg, mayo and chipotle sauce but I got croissant instead. When I went back there to change my order, I wasn't welcome back. I am taking time to give a low review because of the poor attitude exhibited by the staff everytime I call. I always greet them and ask how they are doing, and have tried to establish a positive relationship because of all the orders I do with them for our many meetings. However, I have not succeeded in establishing a working relationship with their staff, especially the "catering" staff-member named Marina. My company has given Jason's Deli in the Downtown tunnel, TONS of business in the last 6 months. With that being said, I don't understand why, when I call to order food for one of our many meetings, that it is not important enough business to take my order? Ours are not huge or difficult orders. Earlier this week, a staff-member started to take my order, and then asked if she could call me back because "they were busy." I had to call them back to order, when I didn't hear from them. I called this morning to ask for a copy of my order for tomorrow to confirm it, and was asked by Marina again if she could call me back because she was "busy." I believe that was at least the 3rd time this has happened to me in the last few months, and I make it a point to not call during busy meal times. She had promised to send my confirmation for tomorrow earlier this morning. When I called back an hour and a half later to ask for it again, she claimed to have emailed a copy of my order. I was fed up with her "I don't care" attitude and firmly told her I was looking at my Inbox and had checked the Junk box, and that if she had sent it, I would be looking at it. I asked her to send it asap. No response so far. I will be ordering online going forward. I shouldn't have to deal with bad attitudes every time I call to order! It shouldn't be like pulling teeth to get an order taken for a regular customer! Marina is also impatient and interrupts too much. read more

Usually I get great food. Service is sometimes very friendly, sometimes rushed and uncaring, depending on who's at the take out counter. The one time I was really angry with this place was a couple years ago. The boss ordered lunch for everyone -sweet, right? Got about halfway through my sandwich, took another bite and bit into a toothpick. No, the toothpick was not poking from the top or bottom -it was in the sandwich. Not like right smack in the middle, but it was in the sandwich near the edge, concealed by cheese and toppings. I don't remember if I complained about it, but I didn't visit that location for about a year after the fact. I know accidents happen, but I can't recall another time at any restaurant where I almost ate a toothpick. I have finally started coming back. I guess I've forgiven them, haha. I do the build your own half sandwich; it's a perfect portion and cheaper than just about everything else they offer. EDIT 4/07/2011: After today's performance I've downgraded from 3 stars to 2 and I highly doubt I'll visit this location again. Friggin love going here for lunch... it's the closest thing I've found to an authentic NY DELI outside of the NE U.S.! You're still not going to find a "sub" with "hots," but you'll get a good sandwich with tasty meats and toppings. The Spicy Capone is DAMN GOOD!
