An update on my previous 4* review. Came back for outdoor dining two days in a row. Ordered: -butterscotch latte (I usually get the iced version) -everything bagel with sun dried tomato cream cheese -bacon breakfast burrito Pros: -This place has become a more frequent spot to visit during COVID. Especially now that I'm fully vaccinated, I feel more comfortable eating outdoors. I especially like the location because they aren't surrounded by other restaurants, and therefore there are a lot of pedestrians and people ordering on the go. It never gets congested. -I recommend both their iced or hot butterscotch drinks. read more

Both my friend and I got the Pesto Tomato Mozzarella Melt. It looked like something we could've made at home and definitely wasn't worth the $17. The mozzarella cheese was just package slices, nothing fancy and not much flavor or seasoning. Also I just want to give a warning to other customers that the majority there were older white customers there so just be careful and you might feel unsafe. It's just the customers and locals in the area that make it feel unsafe, not the employees. Probably won't go here again bc of how expensive it was for this sandwich. read more

It's too bad this spot isn't better given their location right near the beach. Unfortunately, it just seems like they aren't trying. I've been a couple times now, and it's been consistently disappointing. Most recently I ordered an $18 veggie sandwich on sourdough - it was really small, and the bread was completely stale. Compared to the sandwiches that you can get at Clancy's or Palm City or Yonkers, which are bigger and much better than quality, it's hard to justify ever coming here. I also ordered an $8 slice of Irish side bread that was dry and stale. I took it back to the counter and they said it was baked that morning - there is no way. All the baked goods in the case looked sad and stale. Luckily, the kind server gave me a refund for the bread, which I really appreciated. But all in all - I don't recommend this spot, especially when there are so many better options nearby. read more

My sister and I Had been wanting to come here to visit and check out the ocean view. There are couple of tables outside for people watching. Came here for an afternoon oat latte and the granola bowl. Looked under the breakfast bites menu hanging above the wall nearby the order counter and you'll see all the listings for breakfast. Had ordered the oat latte. The bummer part as they do extra 50 cents charge for the oat! It was tasty yummy though! I was in the mood for some fruit, like berries, so I decided to order the granola bowl. The bowl itself was a decent size it came with Greek yogurt, granola and a very large hefty loaded down with cut up melons, grapes, strawberries, and blueberries. Please check out my pictures of the granola bowl As you can see the amount of fruit was impeccable! In fact upon examining it I had to ask myself where is the granola? They were all buried hidden underneath all the fruits! The price for the granola bowl definitely a hefty price $9, However, definitely worth it! 2 people Could share The bowl! Your neighborhood café! This is not your "hipster cafe"or Philz, but it sure makes a great cappuccino! I've came here a few times, and the froth is amazing -- I think it's better than some I tried in Italy to be honest (shhh!). Cool vibing café next to Ocean Beach, that's pretty busy every time I come (weekends usually). One day I came they had live music! This was ok. We stopped into here while in the Sunset for a play date at SF Zoo. Pros: * It's right next to the zoo, y'all. Get your caffeination on before you drag your small children around several acres of animals. You probably won't find a better deal for coffee or snacks once you're in the zoo. * Relatively clean bathroom. * Cute beach-y theme and decor. * Decent amount of seating given the amount of space. Cons: * It's a cramped space and people are practically climbing over each other to prep their coffee, pick up their orders, get a seat. It actually wasn't even that early, maybe 10AM on a holiday weekday. Maybe it's the setup of everything or logistics, but having a stroller in there was mistake. * A little pricey for a local coffee place, and we personally didn't think the coffee was anything special. * Public parking but seems like most people visiting are from the neighborhood or walkers. read more

After waiting all that time, I was served two slices of barely-toasted sourdough bread (not pullman bread like it said on the menu) with sliced cheese, disassembled. The picture of what I was served speaks for itself. Seems as though it was thrown together quickly. After riding the Bart and walking everywhere, we decided to come here since the reviews were good. We got the BLT and omg it was so crispy and crunchy. The light mayo and salty bacon was so good. We also got a bag of those hawaiian chips and it was so good. An unexpected supruse that made the price worth it. We also got an expresso shot. I ordered a butterscotch cold brew/iced coffee. I don't like syrups that are too sweet. Welp, I took the first swig of that and was swooning. It was clearly homemade, with a sort of "brown butter" dimension to it. Not too sweet at all. One of the best coffees I've had! They also make a couple other types of syrup. A wonderfully located little coffee house to grab a warm drink and a bite after your long stroll on the beach! This place is always HEAVING when I come here. The line is out the door and everyone is dying to come here - which must be a testament to just how good they are! There's limited seating inside, but if you're lucky enough to find a spot, they have free WiFi, and you find most people here bring their laptops and stay for a while. I've been here a few times, and can confirm their Hoyt chocolate and latte are delicious, and their HUGE chocolate chip cookies are definitely big enough to share... or to keep half for yourself for later ;) Parking can be tough around here, but it's open (you don't have to pay) so that's probably why. Conveniently and excitingly located right next to the beach. Came here early morning to get my caffeine fix. Was able to try their "Carmel Latte" and a straight "Brewed Coffee" - Half the people there in the morning appear to be regulars. Several newspaper vending machines right out the shop, so you'll notice half the room occupied by daily newspaper readers! - The baristas are chill and laid back. They called everybody by name which added a special touch. Unfortunately I am not a regular yet, so maybe after a few more visits, I'll become more familiar with the baristas. - The Carmel Latte I ordered was alright. Standard coffee. A bit too foamy. Will have to try something else next time around. - The pastries all looked delicious. The black current scone was decent. To me they are one of these San Francisco institutions that somehow nicely combine the hippie generation with the hipster generation: examples of both "species" can be found here! Coffee, bagels, hot sandwiches, brownies/cookies over a chill place to work. It feels a little weird that I am writing this review as I sit here doing work over a mocha, but oh well! Honestly I love this coffee shop in the city right across the street from the beach. It's similar to Chit Chat Cafe in Pacifica but I tend to be closer to SF on Fridays for a nice change of scenery. This is especially one of my go-to shops because they also serve food. There is free parking along the side of the street on La Playa, and is very low-hassle to get here via Great Highway. I also came here at night after Outsidelands and it was great to warm up to a nice cup of hot chocolate at like 10pm. As a self-proclaimed whipped cream aficionado, this place has the cream (ohoho) of the crop on top of their mochas and hot chocolates. I also love that you can get their bagels with pesto or sun-dried tomato cream cheese. It's literally a game changer. The wifi is a bit spotty here depending on what you're working on (I have xfinity wifi so it doesn't really matter). However, I highly recommend this place for a chill study spot! read more

I had the Hot Tsunami sandwich with a Coke on a Sunday afternoon inside the dining room. An absolutely fantastic sandwich. The name is appropriate because the flavors are intense and came at me like waves - from the perfectly toasted roll to the melted cheese to the tender meats to the generous sauces to the condiments (I had all except tomato). It satisfied all the taste buds, and made me full and happy. It came with barbecue chips which were tasty. The cafe is right next to the Great Highway and it has a nice vibe. The only reasons I drop it a star are because the dining room could use a little brightening up and better layout, the table was very wobbly, and the cashier could have been more friendly. But, oh that sandwich - the next time I am in the area I'll make a return trip for sure. read more
