Been waiting for this shop to open since it's right around the corner. There's plenty of parking out front. The coffee shop has limited hours until 2pm. It has a nice relaxing aesthetic to it. The menu has a solid variety of reasonably priced drinks. There's also refrigerated drinks and baked items available. They have a rewards program as well. They're doing an awesome job with implementing social distancing and cleanliness! The wait is small kine long because there's only one person working. I ordered a Decaf Hazelnut Cappuccino. I have had the pleasure of meeting Alena and her son about a year ago today and to my surprise she is still up and running. This little quaint coffee place is beautiful and adorable. This place is super good with good vibes the minute I walked in I was greeted with a smile. The coffee taste incredible I got an english toffee iced coffee and it was spot on! I started chatting a bit with the lady who rang me up and she was super nice to me even gave me a free espresso shot when I told her I love my coffee nice and strong! I have stopped by many times now, and Java Garden has consistently made me happy! Their location is such a gem, and just above the hill from Qualcomm (or whatever they are changing it to now). There is ample parking and a handicap spot right out front. The inside is so beautiful and they have a painted wall of vines and flowers. This review is being written for Java Garden a small family owned coffee shop located in Mission Valley. It appears this cafe has been open for about a year now. Immediately from driving into the parking lot it is clear they are trying to drive business into the shop with a large coffee banner out front. The shop itself as you can see below is well decorated with cute decor and offers locally roasted coffee for sale as well as related apparel. From entering the shop I was greeted by a barista who was very kind and welcoming. She appeared to knowledgeable about the shop and I suspect one of the owners. I ordered a cortado which I asked to be sweetened slightly with vanilla to balance out the flavors. The roast itself was tasty and paired well with the vanilla. The wait time was not long and the indoor seating was comfortable. Overall between the delicious coffee, the great service and covenient location I will be back for more. I came here on a whim and ordered a caramel latte with oat milk. I'm not a usual coffee drinker and I thought it was really good. My friends ordered a strawberry banana milkshake and a cinnamon latte. Overall we enjoyed drinks and loved the decor, but while we were waiting for our drinks, it was obvious the person in charge of the floor was blatantly mean and condescending to the other employee. My friends and I couldn't help but be uncomfortable with the way she interacted with her employee. It's a small place, so it's easy to accidentally overhear others' conversation. We would've liked to stay and enjoy the ambiance and cute decor, but it was extremely uncomfortable especially in front customers. Hopefully this treatment does not occur at a more severe level behind closed doors. The two stars are based on the experience as opposed to the products. read more

I peddled to Java Garden and met the boss lady, Alena. Java Garden is an immaculate, quaint coffee shop, kinda off the beaten path. As we chatted, Alena explained that she opened just in time for the pandemic to close most businesses, but she appeared undeterred and optimistic. Alena is very personable and was constantly cleaning and sanitizing. Love it! Think of your best friend, that's also OCD, making you a perfect cup of java and that is Alena. I was glad to discover that Java Garden has a strong following of loyal locals as I'm now part of that group. I asked Alena for her recommendation... I enjoyed looking at the floral mural that covered one whole wall. The menu looked like it had a lot of coffee and non-caffeinated options as well as homemade baked goods! I got a medium iced caramel macchiato and a cranberry & orange scone recommended by the employee. The macchiato wasn't too sweet and didn't have a layer of caramel syrup at the bottom.
