Very disappointing experience at Javier's. We had a reservation and still waited almost 40 minutes to be seated with very little communication or professionalism from the front desk staff. The hosts appeared extremely young and unprepared to handle the flow of guests or manage reservations properly. Unfortunately, the service did not improve once we were seated. Our server seemed unfamiliar with the menu, could not answer basic questions about the dishes, and overall lacked product knowledge you would expect from a restaurant of this level and price point. The atmosphere is beautiful, but the organization and service quality were far below expectations. For a restaurant with this reputation, the experience felt disorganized and frustrating from start to finish. The only good thing we had that night was the tamarind margarita. We order steak and shrimp tacos and asked the server to show us an item that had the tacos and rice and beans in one order and she had no idea what we were asking for. We need up getting everything separate which ended up being a total waste and nothing tasted decent.

This super popular restaurant in old town was mentioned by several people, so we got reservations and took a party of 4. The ambiance was great, lots of well dressed people pre-gaming at the bar or waiting for tables. They have a Beautiful wide opened dining space, very well decorated. I eat a ton of Mexican and usually favor authentic mom and pop places so I was concerned that this was going to be too bougie and not satisfy but it was excellent. Everything had very good flavors and we all agreed we'd like to come back.

We went to Javier's for dinner on a Thursday and it reinforces the saying that Thursdays are Fridays in LA. It was a full house of people drinking and dining. The food was decent but you go here for the atmosphere and vibe. The interior design and furnishings are are awesome. It has a very lounge feel more than a restaurant. Louder music and alot of energy. It's not the spot for a relaxing dining experience, atleast on the weekend. Service was attentive and polite but not a lot of interaction with the staff mostly due to noise and how packed it was. All the mixed drinks were very very good. We went here for a birthday dinner before a fun night out and Javier's is that type of place. Come in for a fun time for drinks and a light bite. It's pretty pricey so drinks and a full meal can add up quick. Guacamole 2/5. Plain run of the mill guacamole. Skip and get it at any other Mexican spot. Trio of enchiladas Del Mar. 5/5. Must try in my opinion. Contents and sauces were great. Carne Tampiquena. Overall 3/5(mostly because the enchilada.) New York steak. 2/5. Way undercooked for the med rare we ordered and too rare for my wife to eat. I thought it was a good cut and could be better if prepared as requested. Chicken taquito 2/5. Good flavor but very dry. Dungeness crab enchilada 5/5, refried beans 4/5. Ceviche Shrimp 5/5. Great starter.

This restaurant is so nice and spacious inside. There is music playing and the restaurant is kind of hidden in between two buildings. Portion and food is good and the drinks are nice and strong. Staff was also nice.

Went with a group of girlfriends and we had a blast! If you are looking to go someplace and feel like you escaped to the tropics then go here! Felt like I was in Miami. Went on a Monday night and it was still hopping. Luckily, we didn't experience a wait to be seated as mentioned in other reviews. The atmosphere is loud music so if you are looking for quiet this isn't the place. But the high booths made our dinner somewhat secluded and we were able to carry on conversation amongst us. With a large cocktail list and menu there is plenty to get your own party started. We enjoyed Flaca's to drink. We started with yummy Queso Fundido and chips and then very much enjoyed the La Tablita. This was a platter full of the tasty makings of fajitas. We choose shrimp and skirt steak. Both were very good but the shrimp was out of this world amazing in tortillas. The large platter will surely wow when they bring it to the table. In addition to the two meat choices it came with: a side of arroz, refritos, guacamole, salsa fresca, jalapeños, green onions, warm tortillas, queso fresco. We were celebrating a birthday so we got two desserts and they added even more ice cream and presented all three on a platter. It was a fun presentation. Our waiter was the best. He didn't miss a beat! Overall a great night! Public Parking Structure located behind the restaurant. $10 flat rate on a weekday night.

The birthday ice cream was the perfect sweet ending to the night, beautifully presented on a gorgeous decorative plate. The food was delicious, the servers were attentive and the music was on point. Great experience all around!

I came here for an anniversary Love the ambiance The service was great! Very welcoming The food was great! We asked the waiter what their most recommended items were and he shared it was the short rib. Sauce was spicy, the meat was tender! And the steak, asparagus and mashed potatoes were a great price point. Tasty too. One thing I wouldn't get again though is the queso fundido- it gets cold quickly and clumps up Otherwise everything else from drinks to the dessert was great!

Javier's was okay -- not something I'd try again. Hats off for the help, but honestly, it wasn't as good as people say. Bye for now.

We love Javier's and visit frequently when we are in town at Newport Beach or Las Vegas. This location did not disappoint. Tucked in off Colorado Blvd. (Where il Fornaio used to be) Valet up front for $25 or lots of parking in nearby structures. We got a fairly last-minute reservation for a party of eight on a Sunday evening. We were seated promptly at a what felt like a large high top table, furniture is beautiful, ambience is lovely, it is open light and airy with tropical design. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. We got two orders of the "La Tablita" with chicken and steak, steak quesadillas, and lots of tacos. Drinks were great, especially the spicy jalapeno marg. For dessert we got the churros, and our waiter generously brought out two birthday ice creams for the kids we were celebrating. Towards the end of the evening we met Edgar who was the manager on duty regarding a small mishap, he handled it punctually and professionally. We are already looking forward to coming back.

I'll start by saying I've eaten several times at the Las Vegas & Century City locations this was my first time visiting Pasadena. I was initially very excited to try the new location because my experience at the other two locations have always been pleasant. Decor: Absolutely stunning. We sat on the indoor outdoor patio area. The weather was amazing. There was a nice breeze coming in the ambience was perfect. Actually, it reminds me of a restaurant out of the country. Service: Our server was SUPER NICE. I'm not sure if she was overwhelmed or if she was new but once we were seated, no one came over to greet us. Bring us water our silverware. We sat there for about 10 minutes before I had to ask another waiter that was walking by if they could find our server. Once she came over and introduced herself, we were actually ready to order because we had already sat there for so long. We ordered our food. We asked her for plastic silverware, salt, pepper, hot sauce, like we literally ordered everything at the same time. By the time our food arrived we still didn't have napkins or silverware. Food: I ordered my regular the "Trio" and I was very disappointed that it was cold. I had to send it back to the kitchen. My husband's food was cold as well. They took our plates back. They warmed our food up, brought it back out and brought us new servings of rice and beans that were still cold a second time. at this point I wasn't really hungry anymore. I waited so long for my food that I got full off of chips and salsa so I took a couple bites and then packed it up to go. The guacamole is not my favorite. I wouldn't order it again. It's more like a purée guacamole (mashed potatoes, consistency ) it doesn't seem like it's made to order more like they blended a large batch and then serve it as ordered. No tomato's, cilantro, lime, just avocados peppers and onions. I basically just ate chips and salsa. Ceviche: My husband ordered a ceviche to go when we got home. I took it out of the bag, and the portion was literally so small. It was less than a handful and I have tiny hands. I'm not a big fan of ordering to go while I'm inside of a restaurant because I always feel like they give you smaller portions. I normally will just order as if I'm eating it at the table and then once they bring it out I'll package it to go, but I didn't do that this time because I was ready to go home. Over all my experience at this location wasn't anything special and I'll most likely not visit again.

Overall the ambiance is cool and I like the attention to detail with greenery inside. I dig the decor and the layout of the restaurant. Our server was great as well. But the food is subpar and definitely not worth the price imo. Chips and salsa, 5/10: Immediately left a bad impression, as some chips were excruciatingly salty and some were decently seasoned. The taste of the salsa seemed to vary per dish. One bowl was tangy, savory, and bright. The other bowl was salty, dull, and lackluster. They served multiple dishes of chips and salsa. It's clear consistency was lacking. Chorizo Enchiladas, 6.75/10: I ordered these thinking they would stuff the chorizo inside the enchiladas; maybe I should've asked. But the dish was very underwhelming since it was mainly tortilla, cheese, and sauce. It tasted pretty good for what it was. But, it was lacking the protein and depth that this place promises upfront on the menu description. Barely any chorizo was to be found. Not worth the hefty price tag. They charge extra for rice and beans since it doesn't come with the dish. Tablitas with asada, 7.5/10: A good portion for a small group. The asada is cooked medium, with a great sear on it. It could use a bit more seasoning. I like that it comes on the hot grill. The sides that accompany it are solid: rice, beans, guacamole, grilled veggies. Dish is filling and can be easily shared. Margarita, 6/10: First time seeing a house margarita served with no garnishes, no fruit, no lemon, nothing. It came cloudy and tasted bland. I will say they did not skimp on the tequila. Ceviche de pulpo, 8.5/10: Easily the best dish there. Octopus tastes fresh, not fishy at all. It has a nice chew and is cooked appropriately. The refreshing vegetables highlight the bright flavors of the octopus well. Minor detail is I'd prefer bigger chunks of octopus for a meatier bite. I appreciate what this restaurant is going for. But it misses the mark heavily for me.

I went to Javier's for the first time ever last week and I have to say.....the Pasadena location is a VIBE. The restaurant is stunning - think plush booths, fountains, greenery, and gorgeousness. The bathrooms are elite - there's an attendant (so make sure you tip!), tic tacs, gum, lotion, etc. The food was amazing. Like I said I've never been here before. We got the crab and shrimp enchiladas (SO meaty!) and the steak salad. Steak was unbelievable. We got fried ice cream for dessert but my friend has a peanut allergy, so we had to send it back. Settled on the flan after that, and it was also delicious! Only drawback and reason for 4 stars was the service. Yes, my party was just two people with no alcohol, but we were left looking for our server fairly often - especially when we wanted to pay and leave. Other than that - Incredible vibe. I loved it, and will be back!

This was actually our second attempt, the first time we showed up on a Saturday afternoon they were closed, despite their online hours saying otherwise. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and came back. Service was okay. The food? Disappointing. The shrimp cocktail was the whole reason we made the trip. It tasted watered down, had no seasoning, no lemon, and still had shell on the shrimp. It genuinely tasted like a pre-made Costco cocktail in red dyed water. The fajita plate (shrimp, beef, and chicken) was passable but nothing special. What really ended it for us were the hidden fees. We ordered the fajita plate $30 (+ taxes) a massive spread with a separate plate of rice and beans and they brought out THREE corn tortillas. THREE... I am Mexican. I have eaten at hundreds of restaurants in my lifetime and have never been given only three tortillas for a plate that size. We asked for more tortillas and were charged $4 with zero warning. It's not about the money it's the principle. The charge was never disclosed. When I brought it up with the owner, Lupita, she was dismissive and couldn't explain the reasoning it's not even homemade tortillas. You can literally buy 90 tortillas for $4 at a grocery store! She took off one of the charges but kept the other $2. Meanwhile, they offer unlimited chips and complimentary salsa without blinking. The inconsistency is baffling. We genuinely wanted to support this family-run restaurant we loved seeing the family come in together. But the disrespect during that conversation made it impossible to leave on good terms. Do yourself a favor and drive about a 1.5 miles down the street to El Metate. Their large shrimp cocktail is $15, is so flavorful, and the staff treats you like family. Their pozole is outstanding too. We found them on our first failed attempt to come here and we'll be going back to them exclusively from now on. We will never return to Lupita's and made it clear to not go there in our community thread with 15K people. Unless you like hidden fees and mediocre tasteless overpriced food then this is your place otherwise...don't come here.

First off, the space itself is legit. Big, open, modern Mexican vibe with high ceilings, warm lighting, and a mix of rustic wood + polished finishes. There's a long bar that feels like it's always ready for pre-game action, TVs scattered throughout (CLUTCH for keeping an eye on sports), and some nice design touches, think agave-themed accents, textured walls, and a slightly upscale lounge feel without being stuffy. It looks like a place where you want to post up, grab a marg, and ease into the night. Now... here's where things got a little sideways. We rolled in at 5:30 before a Los Angeles Kings game, and were told we couldn't sit until our full party arrived. Mind you... the place was maybe half full at best. That's a tough one. You're basically telling a ready-to-spend group they can't order drinks yet. That's an easy extra round (or two) left on the table. #ANNOYING That said... once we got past the front door situation, the night rebounded nicely. Shoutout to server, 'Zagid C' and the rest of the staff, they were on point. Attentive, friendly, and kept things moving, which is key when you've got a game clock looming. Big difference-maker. They even brought out a fun little birthday firework moment at the table, nice touch. Happy B-Day, Dan. Food-wise, it delivered. My wife is OBSESSED with the warm beans that come with the complimentary chips, like, borderline fighting-over-the-last-scoop status. YUM. I'm a creature of habit here and went with the 4-street taco combo (steak, chicken, carnitas, shrimp). Solid across the board, good flavor, hits the spot every time. Big portion of food. And yes... I absolutely appreciate the TVs. There's something comforting about being able to track pre-game coverage while you're knocking back tacos and a cocktail. Priorities. Net-net: Sol Agave worked its way back into my good graces on this visit. Strong service, good food, great pre-event energy. But that "entire party must be present" seating rule? BOOOOOOOOO.

But the most defining part of the experience happens before you even sit down. With valet as the only real parking option (approximately $35), guests are required to wait outside in a crowded, unpredictable environment. During my visit, the atmosphere felt chaotic and, at times, unsafe. What stood out most was the absence of a consistent, visible security presence at the entrance. For a restaurant of this caliber, a dedicated security guard stationed at the entrance should be standard--not optional. Managing the valet flow, maintaining order, and most importantly ensuring guests feel safe and comfortable should be part of the experience. Javier's delivers moments of excellence on the plate--but true luxury is holistic. It's not just what you serve, it's how you protect, welcome, and elevate your guests from the very first step.

Run.. don't walk! If you haven't tried this hidden gem yet, you're seriously missing out…read more From the moment we walked in, we were greeted right away and felt an instant, welcoming energy, like we were part of the family. You can tell this place is built on pride and genuine customer care, and that kind of passion shows up in every bite. I even noticed the staff taking time to clean around the register, which gave me confidence in the overall cleanliness. Our waitress was incredibly kind and attentive when I pointed something out, she addressed it immediately and even adjusted our bill without hesitation. The food? Absolutely incredible. Every dish was bursting with flavor, the vegetables were perfectly prepared, and the seafood was fresh and high-quality. I'm honestly still thinking about it... can't wait to go back!

My husband asked me to meet him here for lunch a few weeks ago. We arrived around 11:45 a.m. and…read morethe place was already full. As many reviews mention, it's tiny, so expect a wait. We stood around for about 20 minutes before getting a table. The menu is limited. I went with the aguachiles verdes, and my husband got the Dos Plebes (he chose callo de hacha and ceviche de pescado). It took a while for the food to come out but we were told it was due to it being prepared fresh to order My aguachiles were tasty. My husband's tostadas tasted great too. Overall, the food was solid, but it didn't quite blow me away to make me go out of my way for it again. If you're a mariscos lover and in the East LA area, it's definitely worth stopping in to try.

I've been seeing this place for the past few months on my drive to City of Hope so today I finally…read moredecided to make a stop and I am glad I did. The menu has different varieties of tacos soup, seafood and breakfast items. I opted for posole since I went as soon as they opened at 9am. Now let me clarify. I am a posole connoisseur, so I am very picky when it comes to my posole. I can say with my ENTIRE chest that this by far was the best I've ever had. Posole was super clean, the broth was soooooo flavorful I did not even want to add anything to it! The meat omg was so fresh and the restaurant did not even skimp on the meat I had chunks in my bowl which was a bonus. The owners/workers were very sweet and delightful every time I looked up at them working they ran over stating if I needed anything. I cannot wait to return and try other items on their menu!

I would have said great, but the garnish overwhelmed the good stuff. Of course, I just swept it away. Underneath the garnish, the chile was fresh and crunchy. The enchilada, I liked as well, except it had cheese instead of meat that I thought I asked for. I have been to this place before, but it is nicely decorated now . It's a hole in the wall I would take a date at or family. Prices are prevailing rates, median.
