My mom was visiting and wanted seafood, so we decided to try Jax Fish Fry. I should've known when we walked into this place at prime dinner time on a Friday night and it was empty. I realize seafood is higher priced so I thought nothing of the $42 I spent for our two orders until our food came out. We ordered the fish and chips and a shrimp basket with an added order of fish. What i received was nothing short of a joke. About 7 shrimp and one piece of fish in the mixed basket and about 10 "chips" for almost $20. The fish and chips came with two small pieces of fish. The water tastes like it came from the pond out back. Y'all really shouldn't have skimped on the RO system. My entire family left hungry after eating and won't be back. I give this place a year. Edit to say: the owners have come back and called me a liar. My mom goes up and talks to "Reagan" and makes a comment about the portion size to which she was basically, albeit politely, blown off. Y'all feel free to upload the video. She came back to the table and we decided we weren't saying another thing about it because it was of no use and there was zero need to be nasty to the people working. I'm not sure why you'd want us to. We just decided we'd probably never come back. As far as people, two people came in. You can also see on the video where, when we walk in, a family of five walks in with us and immediately turns around and walks out. Since they want to call me a liar, I'm going scorched earth. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time at this place. Palm Valley Outdoors is right down the road and the owners are far more professional and the portions are much better for the price. The fish was flaky and I loved the fact it was a light batter which means the balance between fish and batter was just right.My wife had the lobster roll, with plenty of lobster and again light mayonnaise so the lobster flavor was not overwhelmed. I have visited both the store on Baymeadows and the one in north St. John's County. The staff are friendly people and the food is fresh and delicious. The Baymeadow store is a little smaller and has limited seating. The other store has ample seating, but on the negative side was a little hard to find. The store is located in the corner of a shopping center. You may have to call in order to find out exactly where they are. Nevertheless, the reason you're there is to eat seafood and they do a great job. read more

The food came so quick, too quick that it seemed like it was just reheated. When we got the food, the fish wasn't even that hot, same with the fries. The lobster roll was ok. If you live in Nocatee or Beachwalk area and have not tried this place yet, do yourself a favor and eat here! This was my second time here. I didn't remember what I ordered last time until I read my first review and lo and behold I ordered the same thing again (shrimp basket and add clams). I guess that's what I like! Everything is perfect and made to order. Fresh potato slices for fries, shrimp and clams breaded on the spot. Cooked perfectly. Tender. Hot. The slaw is good too. Seriously this place is good! My wife and I and my mil had dinner there last night. It was their first night open. This place is a little tricky to find. Pull into the plaza and go to the right rear corner near the cigar bar. But the food was delish! My wife and her mom had fish and chips and onion rings. I had fish and chips with fried clams added. It's SUCH a treat to have this place so close! Husband and wife owner, brought a fantastic recipe for fried fish down from up north. Nicely sized portions of fish. The clams were exactly like HoJos! (If you don't know who that is, then forget it.) But they were great. The cod was fried, not greasy and the breading was light-not overpowering... Your traditional New England fish fry. The ambiance is fastish food. You order at the register, give them your name and grab a table. They call you when your food is ready. They've also got some great looking desserts but we didn't try any this time. Next time we will for sure and there will be a next time. We're going to bring a crowd there next week. If you're thinking of going there especially on the weekend, my recommendation is to go early. This place is going to be busy. read more

Food was very good, but the location was working against them. When we arrived at the shopping area we circled around trying to find them. We finally saw a small sign pointing down an alley way. The decor is bare bones and utilitarian. You place your order at the register then pick it up when called to get it yourself. As well as getting your own drinks. Paper and plasticware are the name of the day. Baskets come with fries and slaw. At least you don't have to buss your own tables. Went to check out this new place today. Expectations were exceeded! I had the Cod Basket with fries and the wife had the Shrimp Basket with Onion rings. I very much enjoyed the fries, the cut is unique! The staff is very friendly and helpful. They clearly care about the quality of the product. My only complaint is the small size of the cole slaw. Food's pretty good !! Not overcooked and not double breaded. This place is located along route 210 and near the route 95 interchange. It is right near the St. Vincents Hospital. Unfortunately when you enter the strip mall at the entrance (near the Culvers restaurant). It is difficult to find because it is kind of hidden between the two buildings that are on your right as you enter. We were about to give up when we saw their sign hidden behind the place that does "Cigars". Its RIGHT NEXT to them. The fish was really good and the fries were cut there on premise and were cooked really well. The Onion rings were really good. (best I've had in quite a while). I had the oyster basket and they were not double breaded nor overcooked. They were tender and moist and quite delicious. One other thing: the coleslaw that comes with everything is really good. amazing crispiness and at the same time NOT tough. (really a hard thing to pull off). The sauce that is with the cole slaw is not based (much) on mayonaise but is based on vinegar (wine vinegar) and has a subtle flavor. I will return. read more

Some of the best, if not the best, fish and chips I've ever had! Large fish fillets, lightly breaded and flaky. Fries are thin and slightly scooped so they pick up sauce well.. hush puppies are small bites of goodness.!!
