Came here with my family of 5. Not exaggerating but every single thing we ordered was super delicious. We got jay Jays fries. Chicken tenders and fries for the kids. A Greek salad. Chicken lemon rice soup. Cajun shrimp fettuccini and palomino pasta with shrimp. We got an order of 6 buffalo wings. Got a lava cake at the end. Every single item was better than any equivalent you'd order at any restaurant. The chicken was all super juicy and had the best breaded crunch. The pastas were piping hot and creamy. This is a very good bistro. There's a very large selection of different cuisines, including breakfast served all day. Last time, I had the chicken lemon rice soup, pretty decent and a salad with a saganaki appetizer. Kids got breakfast, husband got a gyro and all had good reports. I bookmarked this restaurant many months ago. I was in the area visiting a friend in the hospital and realized it was only a few minutes away. I specifically came here for the toasted coconut French toast I had seen on Instagram. It was absolutely amazing, and I had it with a side of crispy, tasty bacon. The menu says there's four slices of bacon in an order, but mine arrived to the table with only three pieces. Oh well. The French toast is enough for two meals. I came to Jay Jay's Bistro because a friend had recommended this spot as a good place to go for a middle eastern taste. I have driven past it probably a million times but never noticed what they had to offer. One day, my brother was craving some late-night middle eastern and this was the only place open. I had remembered the recommendation and tried it out. What my friend had failed to mention was two major components that makes this restaurant so great: the portions and the variety. This place is not only great for a middle eastern taste, but really any Mediterranean taste! It had a huge menu variety from Italian, to Greek, to Arab flavors! They even have some American classics on the menu. Their menu did seem a bit pricey, so I was glad it was just the two of us eating here! However, the food is definitely worth the price. The portions are ginormous! The desserts were also so adorably displayed in huge portions near the front entrance. My brother, who is a teenage athlete and eats insane portions couldn't even finish his plate! We agreed that our meals could have definitely been enough to eat in two sittings, which made he price very reasonable. The waitress we had was super helpful. My brother was stuck between two entree options and she was completely honest about which entree was the better option. I couldn't believe at such a late hour how much excitement she had to deliver the Greek flaming cheese (Saganaki). We were the last ones there, and she delivered it as if we were the first. Hats off to her! Being the vegan/plant-based water that I am I ordered the fattoush salad with no pita chips. She figured that since my brother was going all out, she would still bring them out as a side for him, which was very thoughtful of her. She even recommended him to eat them with the Saganaki! My fattoush salad was also a very generous portion. It was the size that most raw vegans would be pleased with in one sitting (considering the portions raw vegans eat). I prefer no oil with my food, but at a Mediterranean restaurant that's almost impossible if you want some sort of salad dressing. Especially at a place with already so little to choose from for vegans. Nonetheless, my salad was delicious! My grandma likes it here so I've been here several times. It's very good - the owners and servers are incredibly nice and accommodating. the food is very good with more than adequate portions - no sad looking salads or sandwiches here, and for good prices. I like their wraps, their fattouch salads (especially with shawarma chicken) and their soups. I don't think they'd put anything on their menu that wasn't good, though. Make sure to get some of their fresh bread with toum before your entrees come out. Four stars because a couple times I've been here the service was incredibly slow (but still very friendly, and the food was good). It seems they have an inconsistent ebb and flow of customers so understaffing is sometimes an issue. read more

Who would've thought? It's a nice little family restaurant and I loved how nice our servers were! Get ready for a hefty serving of toasted pita bread and the addicting garlic butter that is served with it as an appetizer. I'm not a butter on bread kind of guy, but I finished almost all the butter they brought to the table! What happens in Michigan stays in Michigan right? We also started with their stuffed grape leaves and they were really good. Perfect for sharing! The food was fantastic! We had someone order the Asian stir-fry just to give it a try, and it was surprisingly really good! I had the Jay Jay's Riggie and it was HUGE. Literally the worst service ive ever seen in my life. They didnt even give us service. If i could give them negative stars 100% i would. We walked in the door waited 10 minutes no servers walking around no one greeted us nothing finally some random person walked out of the kitchen told us to sit and went away we waited another 20 minutes for any server to come take our order before we just left because no one seemed to care at all. Food looks good in the pictures but clearly it doesnt exist in real life and from what i saw the waitresses didnt seem to care at all or be aware of their surroundings. Visited Jay Jays Bistro in Troy at the corner of Long Lake and Dequindre in the former Big Boy restaurant that occupied this location for many years. Since this was the first Lenten Friday our group of 3 was seeking something with a little more variety than the standard church fish fry. Jay Jays Mediterranean loaded menu seemed to fit the bill perfectly. We started with the flaming saganaki cheese and garlic dip with warm puffy pita bread baked on site for appetizers. Both were comparable or better than what you might find in Detroit's Greektown and much closer to our home. Entrees included a fried fish cod dinner, grilled cod and a Greek salad for our 3 diners. The fish dinners came with a side of mac and cheese and cole slaw. The service was a little bit on he slow side and one of the mac and cheese sides was on the cool side but other than that the total dining experience was positive. They recently renovated and they now have a bar so the inside of the restaurant is just gorgeous. Unfortunately the bathrooms are a mess and could definitely use some cleaning up. Most importantly, the food is delicious! Our server seemed a little confused when taking our order and brought out the wrong salad and also brought them out in the wrong order. My dining companion asked to split a salad with me as an appetizer and have his soup as an entree. She brought out the soup immediately. No big deal though, the lentil soup is delicious. Our entrees were a caesar salad (that was supposed to be the appetizer) topped with beef shawarma and a chicken cream chop sandwich. She brought out the salad with chicken shawarma. We told her it was supposed to be beef and she corrected it very quickly. The food was absolutely delicious. No complaints at all there and i look forward to trying more of their menu. If they could just refine the service a bit and maybe clean those bathrooms up, it would be 5 stars for sure read more

The menu is combined with Americans, Greek, Italian and Middle Eastern style food. This place was very clean and I really like the atmosphere and the inside. Although they can update a little bit on the outside. But overall it has a clean modern look to it and I noticed that the place was super clean. I had their beef Shawarma omelette which was amazing! And I must have if you go there. My friends tried their pasta dish and absolutely love it. I definitely recommend this place for breakfast and brunch lunch and dinner.
