I wanted to like this spot more than I did. They did a couple things REALLY well, but overall I am not sure I would ever go back. First off, it's still takeout only. This is fine, except it can take ~1 hour to actually receive the food after ordering. They tell you 30 to 45 minutes, but trust me it's always an hour. Sitting waiting for my food on two separate occasions I saw people coming up to get their food, only to be told it's another 15 minutes. Onto the food, I'd recommend only their eponymous buns and the soups. The buns are quite good, a more savory version of the popular bao you see all over. I preferred the pork stuffed over the chicken stuffed. For soup, they have a really nice wonton noodle soup flavored well with and added kicker of sesame oil. Where I ran into trouble were the entrees. The 'Jayd Fusion' is a scallion pancake topped with scallion oil. It resulted in a sour stomach due to the oily sauce on the pancake absorbed into an oily pancake. Oil on oil = blech. While more of an appetizer, the fails continued. The Chinese Pancake (different from a scallion pancake) is a Jian Bing pancake with a hotdog. While in theory, this should be good by itself - having to go home to eat it leads to a soggy experience. While not as much as a stomach turning fail as the Jayd Fusion pancake, this led to a gummy experience. The flavors were nice, but this is not a 'bring home and let it steam in the container for 10 minutes' dish. The final fail came from the 'October Noodle'. I expected a nice noodle dish, fired in the wok with lovely flavors and wok hei. Instead, I got boiled noodles with a scoop of 'meat sauce' on top. I think this dish is *supposed* to be a picked cabbage pork noodle dish (酸菜猪肉面) where the topping was more of a soup than a wok-fried noodle dish, which when I have had it before had an equal amount of shredded pork and cabbage to thin noodles. What I got felt like a poorly made Italian dish of boiled thick noodles and a small 'scoop' of ground pork. It lacked the 'tons of flavor' described on the menu and the pork sauce was also rather oily. The dish I am used too would have had the noodles in a nice thick pork broth with loads of shredded pork and tangy cabbage. I tasted no tang nor saw any cabbage. In summary, given the time required and other challenges if I do return I'll stick with their buns and avoid the other items. It's sad as I really want to like this place more given the awards and positive reviews... but all this did is make me want better made Chinese cuisine. read more

Bang the Gong! Again! Omgosh! The most yummy food you can put in your mouth! Tongue dancing flavors for sure! I think veggie Jin Jin dumplings, chicken they were not, but very awesome! Joe did say they would be, so not upset at all. Yo Po noodles, my favorite! And Jayd Fusion! A tip.. If you get Jayd Fusion and Yo Po, clear the Yo Po sauce off the plate with the Jayd Fusion! Jayde Bun is absolutely the best dumplings and noodles in south county no wonder they own best in RI a few times. The owners are the kindest humans around- you can see that by the reviews on Facebook and they are always being recommended in the townie groups. The dumplings are so good i cant even explain. The noodles were nice and spicy just the way we like it. This is a great spot to go and grab some food and then hit the Whalers tap room down the street. Enjoy, and tell everyone. After hearing all of the positive buzz around town about Jayd Bun, my roommates and I decided to finally give it a try... and OMG, it lived up to every expectation we had! From the time we called to place our order to when we picked it up was about 30 minutes. We ordered the Veggie Bao Buns, the October Noodle, the Wonton Noodles Soup, and the Spicy Yo Po Noodle. Walking in, the staff was sooo friendly to us (it made our night), and you really tell that they love what they do and are proud of what they've created. They even gave us coupons and extra sauce with our order, which they 100% did not have to do but it was a nice touch. Veggie Bao Buns were the perfect size and full of flavor. I personally got the October Noodle, and I loved them. I've never had a dish that tasted like it before, but it was so yummy. They had a nice spice to them and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I did have a bite of the Spicy Yo Po Noodle and those were absolutely delicious, and something I'd order next time we go. Perfect spice level, and we loved that it came with an egg. There was also the Wonton Noodles Soup which my roommate seemed to have really enjoyed. The price of each dish vs. the portion size you receive is perfect, and I'm so happy that I can have leftovers to enjoy for tomorrow. I can't with this place. How do they do it? We order from here maybe twice per year. That's because we have two demanding jobs and kids, so ordering out is infrequent (money) and usually based on convenience. Somehow, every time we order from Jayd Bun, it's better than the last time. This time, my husband ordered our favorite items (tomato soup, pork buns, Jayd fusion) and he added the jianbing on a whim. It's our new favorite! Savory, a little sweet, amazing textures. A little out of nowhere in a small town. But, that's the vibe I like. Reminds me of a place where the local comes together and just relaxed with some comfort food. Not crowded and beautiful weather. Service was a little slow, since it seems like it is a family own restaurant. Didn't get to order until like 10-15 mins later even when I was the only customer in there waiting. After ordering, the cashier told me that it is a 40 min wait. But, since I drove this far already, I was like it's ok, I had time. The locals that came in did say you have to order ahead of time. But, not sure if I saw that on their site, but there was a sign in the restaurant that addressed that. But, it was a beautiful day, so it was okay to wait. Now food. I ordered the pork bao buns and the spicy noodles. Pork bao buns: it is better than most chinese restaurant. Texture of bun was perfect, but the only thing was the meat. I feel like it could have a little more soft texture instead of the rubbery chewy taste like a meatball. Spicy noodles: noodles texture felt fresh and was good. The only thing I wish is that they would offer a meat option for their noodle dish. But other than that, it was good. The thing I like about this chinese restaurant is that it offered a perfect size menu to choose from and master its craft on those items. It's not like a 5-10 page typical chinese menu. So, I decided to travel all the way to Jayd Bun from Connecticut because I was interested in authentic Chinese food and not the lame cookie cutter Chinese American menu you find at every Chinese American restaurant. Let's say that the 45 min drive did not disappoint. First of all, they have the friendliest and most cheerful staff ever. I first ordered the jayd beef noodle and edamame. This came out quickly because the buns take 30 min minimum (recommend calling in advance) and this is significantly faster to prepare. I was suggested to bring my takeout down to Whalers brewery to enjoy it with a local brew and it was an awesome pairing. Soon afterwards, I ordered the chicken buns from Jayd Buns. While waiting the staff were so nice and friendly. They even offered drinks and small appetizers while I waited for the buns to finish. The chicken buns came with two different sauces. I am so thankful to live only 15 min from Jayd Bun. This husband/wife duo is pumping out some seriously amazing eats! I am completely obsessed with and have been dreaming about the beef noodles soup. I have ordered it twice recently and CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF IT! It is so so flavorful, full of the most tender beef and the most delicious handmade noodles. I honestly don't think I can venture away from this dish and may order it every single time no matter what. We also get the pork buns and man let me tell you, these are not your average buns. An order comes with 6, and we always have some left over for the next day. They have the most delicious ground pork filling that is encased with the perfect ratio of dough. These bad boys are delicious and filling! Well, now that I wrote this - the only thing I can think about is that soup and I might need to go make a trip to pick me up some. This food here is far beyond what I imagined it to be. I FINALLY got to indulge in some Jayd Bun favorites tonight with my family and we are BLOWN away! Each dish was clearly made with quality ingredients and handled with care. The flavors are out of this world, the atmosphere is happy and welcoming. There is a cute patio for nicer weather that's perfect for when you don't want to wait to get home to enjoy your food. My 40 minute ride home was excruciating! The Jin Jin dumplings almost didn't make it unopened because everything smelled so delicious!! The owners are active members of the community and do many things to help support those in need. I don't have enough good things to say about Jayd Bun. Even before we talk about food, the owners are two of the kindest most generous people I have ever met. The kindness they showed us is something I will never forget. Even if we did let eat their delicious food this would be a 5 star people review. That said the food is AMAZING!!! The dumplings, buns, fusion pancake and noodles are some of the best food I have ever eaten and trust me, I eat a lot lol. We will be back to try other items. I always make sure Jayd Bun is on the list when I have family or friends in town, and my parents have been craving it ever since (my mom mentioned on the phone just today how they want it to be their first meal when they're back in RI)! Came last night in a group of six to try out the famous bao buns. I had tried the noodles before and was excited to taste more of the menu. We forgot about the recommendation to order ahead, but the noodles came out quickly and the bao only took about an hour. It was well worth the wait! My fiancé and I got the Jayd and Peanut noodles. Super yummy and filling. We also had the chicken bao...crispy and soft and chewy and moist all at the same time. It's an order up counter but they have a nice seating area outside for nice weather. First time trying authentic chinese (rather than americanized chinese) and everything hit the spot I usually worry trying new things because of my allergies, but they were super mindful and accommodating with no fuss at all. We've heard about this place for quite some time and finally decided to order yesterday. The food is NOT over hyped... it's sooo good. We got the pork buns, the scallion pancake, the Jen Jen noodles and the October noodles. The pork buns and the pancake were probably top 10 foods we've ever had. You need to try them immediately. The buns were cooked perfectly and slightly crunchy on one side. I don't even know how to describe the pancake other than you need to see for yourself. Both of the noodles were very different tasting from any other food we've had and definitely way more veggies than you're used to from a "Chinese" restaurant where they basically give you none. Both noodle options were good, but the Jen Jen was our fav. The person who took our order was very friendly and our food was ready when they said it would be. No seating inside so we took the food home (we live close by), but can't wait till it's warmer out so we can eat there. Overall, blown away but how delicious this place turned out to be! read more

I think the business itself is great, but I do not understand all the rage and 5 star reviews. No complaints on the service or wait time for pickup based on the small business model. Pro tip - call early to get your order in :) I wasn't a huge fan of the 2 entries we ordered. We found both noodle dishes to be overwhelmingly greasy. The buns were okay. Just got takeout from here over the weekend and loved it! We got the jayd fusion, pork buns, veggie buns, spicy yo po noodle soup, and the jayd beef noodle soup! Everything was delicious--everythig was so flavorful and the noodles were incredibly fresh. I was surprised that it more or less lived up to the hype of being ranked one of the top restaurants in Rhode Island! Welp, I'm hooked. I just had Jayd Bun for the first time, and I get the hype. The food was flavorful, the buns delicious, the dipping sauce for the Bao was perfectly vinegary too. We only tried the pork buns and peanut butter noodles but it was enough to make me want to try everything else on the menu. My only complaint? I live in Cranston and therefore cannot indulge as often as I'm going to want to. Anyways, this place is awesome! read more

I don't really want to review this place because I'd like to keep it a secret. I followed the advice of other reviewers and ordered the things that got the most mentions (I won't bother repeating them, read below). I could not have been more pleased. My advice, call in your order EARLY, especially on a weekend. We called in our order at 4 and were told it would be ready at 6, and it came out at 6:30 (there was an event in town, so I give them a pass). At a certain point they stop answering the phone, but people kept coming in trying to order while we were waiting, but they were too late. It may sound like a hassle, but it's worth it. The food was amazing. Do it. Epic is not too strong a word for their food. I hope they open one closer to Providence. read more

Very small place with only outdoor seating. Ordered at 1pm and was told it would not be ready to be picked up until 215pm . Went in at 215 and it still wasn't ready. Thought the dumplings were good but everything else was just ok. There are many other Asian places that have much better food for half the price. read more
