Everything was incredible--10/10 flavors. The only downside is the wait and the seatings. There is no seating in the restaurant and limited seating outdoors. I treated a friend to Jayd bun because she had heard so much about it and wanted to try it. Unfortunately, she was not wowed. Like many establishments, you can come across a dish that is too salty or bland. Nobody is perfect. She could have just had extremely high expectations which affected her satisfaction with the end result. Jayd Bun is AMAZING. They consistently put out flavorful, hot, authentic food. They do not have indoor seating for eating your food, but they have an outdoor patio for when the weather is warmer. You are also recommended to call in every order because they make everything to order and need a little time. (Pro tip - call in your food and go across the street to Whaler's Brewing and support TWO local businesses! Whaler's is BYOF (Bring your own food)) I brought my boyfriend with me to get our food and he ordered pork buns, his favorite. I ordered the chicken bun combo. This was not my first time at Jayd Bun. At previous visits, I got to speak with one of the owners, Joe, who you can clearly tell is passionate about this business and the food him and his wife serve. And so utterly savory. The Spicy Yo Po...I nearly got lost in the thick noodles at rest under the fried egg, with my chopsticks working through this bounty like a pitchfork trying to tame a haystack. It's all been so warming, delicious, and satisfying. Flavor bursts forth. Pro tip, follow their instructions on ordering ahead (this isn't a just-drop-by joint), and you'll enjoy near-pinpoint order readiness with a smile and a thank you. The spot itself is unassuming but turns out just the cuisine you're looking for, fresh and ready to tote to other environs, whether that be a few welcoming places nearby or your own neck of the woods. Jayd Bun NEVER disappoints. This is definitely the best food in South County. A friend who had visited china several time and adopted two girls from China came to visit. Told her I knew of great Chinese Food. She laughed. I said, trust me. We ordered the pork buns and the October Noodles (my favorite). When we picked up there was also an order for YoPo in the bag. This was complimentary and delicious. Everything was amazing! My friend said, I will have to bring the girls. She didn't expect to find authentic Chinese food in RI. Owners and staff are always friendly and order was on time. Definitely a take out place but we ate right on the patio. Can't wait to go back! 4.25 stars. As I continue to highlight great businesses across the Northeast, I thought I should mention the Jayd Bun experience. The TL:DR version is its excellent and you should visit. If you somehow want more than that, feel free to read on. As an aside, I think some of the polarization regarding Jayd Bun is weird and completely unwarranted. Some people hate the ordering system but it's fairly easy to follow? Others criticize their communications strategy but I wonder what does that really have to do with the food (and frankly, and not that it matters because it doesn't, I think it's cheeky and fun)? People complain about the wait because I guess they didn't read a single review before coming here? Perhaps the only non-food criticism that makes even the slightest modicum of sense is how their popularity has reached such a point that one wonders why they continue to operate in such a small space, but that seems to be a business choice? And frankly I feel that those kind of decisions are absolutely none of my business? Sorry admittedly long rant, but for a place that clearly cares about their local community and does it through actions and not words, it's weird to see some backlash with unwarranted vitriol (not necessarily in Yelp reviews where they have near universal praise). And some will probably look at my own review and say if you love this place so much why are you only giving them 4.25/5.00 stars? First, I would argue that's a really high rating. It's saying I think they are excellent. Second, I'd qualify and say if I'm comparing them to the state of Rhode Island which has some solid restaurants across the board, I'd probably have them a little higher. And then third, and the biggest reason, is if I am looking at it from a national perspective (and they have become a national destination for many people), I would say it's because there are a number of places that probably mesh more with my particular palate which gravitates more toward spicy and sour flavors and places less emphasis on say the texture and taste of noodles which is definitely a crowning strength of Jayd Bun. If you're looking for the noodles of your dreams, look no further. If you are looking for truly unique flavor combinations, it's not that they don't have anything fun (like the Green Monstah), but I was missing intense savory (like Qing Xiang Yuan soup dumplings in Chicago or Dongpo Rou at Sichuan House in San Antonio) or combinations I don't generally expect (think the sauerkraut fish experience at Nai Brothers in NYC). But if you want well crafted open ended dumplings or perfectly textured noodles accented with fresh ingredients, then Jayd Bun is definitely your speed. I'll also note that I'm not a huge fan of Chinese buns so I didn't order any of those. That said, the ones at Jayd Bun look fantastic. That was likely a mistake on my part. Here is how I felt about what I got: Pork Jin Jins: 4.5 (delightful with great texture - dipping sauce wasn't my favorite but overall would love to order again) Lamb Jin Jins: 3.75 (the spicy lamb clashed with the sauce and I'm not sure I wouldn't have just enjoyed it more as just a clean lamb dumpling) Green Monstah: 4.25 (fun unique ingredients and again absolutely perfect noodles) Peanut Butter Noodles: 4.25 (compares similarly to dan dan noodles with less spice, more peanut flavor, and nice crisp julienned veggie) Spicy Wontons: 3.25 (somewhat of a miss for me - felt the sauce just overpowered the wonton altogether - but again, what didn't work for me could possibly be the best item for someone else!) ALSO... even though I am keeping it out of my rating, I truly respect how Jayd Bun connects with other local businesses and acts of kindness they have provided for their community. I would definitely say this is a high end local recommendation (i.e. if you live within 150 miles of this place, it should absolutely be on your radar) and depending on your love of noodles and buns, quite possibly a national recommendation. Read the instructions, enjoy your food, and perhaps you will find yourself another restaurant that elevates your happiness. read more

For those reason who has followed me as you know you know I travel around and go check out different soup dumpling places in Asian places things like that so I was really anxious to see this place. so after getting there, we greeted very friendly. Good service staff took our order and everything's made to order so we've come back an hour later or to pick it up. They're sitting outside on some picnic tables some water in your normal utensils. We got the October the the dumplings and the small appetizer dry dumplings. I know it's not popular but I had to give it three stars. Maybe I was expecting too much as the ratings were really high but first to review was the dumplings. Breading is good. Everything handmade made to order. Has a lil soup in therevso careful biting. They provide a nice semi sweet soy sauce with little scallions and side of black vinegar which is the norm for dumpling houses. The dumplings were OK . Maybe because I was expecting the flavor to pop out at me and give me that.mmmmmmm feeling, but it didn't. It was good, but didn't blow me away. The October was the one that we also got because of the description of being savory and just a little bit of heat. Maybe the kitchen was off this day. It seems like there was too much fermented cabbage, and it just came out to be a little bit tomato and a lot of acid in the flavor and leaving out the savory of the pork. We got the appetizer dumplings were three-quarter folded open face dumplings. They were good like your normal dumplings that you would get it at any place went well with the soy sauce. for those who are looking to check out the seaside southern Rhode Island in the mood for some spicy Asian food with some dumplings, definitely check it out. Absolutely worth the wait! At first, I questioned the long wait time to pick up our food... but the moment I tasted the buns and noodles, I completely understood. The flavors were incredible, and you could tell everything was made care and intention. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the buns were soft, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Jayd Bun has so many regional and national accolades that I knew I had to try it when I was in the area. They're remarkably vegan friendly! The vegetable buns were absolutely incredible! I believe they add some sort of agar or other substance to make them juicy just like meat buns would be. They're super fluffy and stuffed to the brim with filling. A combo comes with 3 buns, edamame, and soup. The "Jayd fusion" is a stir-fried scallion pancake in sweet and savory sauce. It was tasty and so unique! A little on the greasy side, but was balanced out by the light and fresh buns. As they say in their website, I definitely recommend calling ahead, because everything is made fresh to order and it takes about 45 minutes to prepare. There's not anywhere to sit inside, but they do have a nice little patio overlooking the bike path if it's warm enough to sit outside. You can also bring your food to Whalers brewery across the street! I wish I lived closer so I could come here all the time! read more

The food was absolutely amazing. The flavors combined with spices and the noodles were incredible. So if you enjoy a spicy asian food, Jayd Bun is the place to get it. It's a take out order but taking advantage of the suggestions of getting this takeout food to a few local places where you can drink and enjoy Jayd Bun food. Finally made it to Jayd Bun today after watching all the yummy buns on instagram and Facebook and they did not disappoint! I placed my order a couple days in advance via email and it was ready pretty much on time and when I arrived there was quite a few people waiting for orders and I was greeted by the most pleasant young girl putting the orders together. I told her it was my first time there and she seemed just as excited for me to try the food as I was. I was extremely impressed with the food and they even gave us a couple extra orders of things to try that we didn't order just for being our first time. I thought that was very generous. Absolutely delicious! Jaydbun Asian Food completely blew us away! Every single bite was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The bao buns were incredible, the wonton soup was comforting and perfectly seasoned, and the dumplings and noodles were next-level good -- the kind of food you keep thinking about long after the meal is over. On top of the amazing food, the service was so friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. This place was heavily recommended online so me and the wife wanted to try and even drove an hour away. Firstly found it annoying that you had to order it 3-5 days in advance. But it's cool must be insane then. Went to the spot and it was small but nice. Good music people were nice. Got food went out and had the Spicy wontons, savory beef, chicken buns, October noodles. Personally nothing was insane best thing for me was the potstickers(savory beef I think) and my wife liked the chicken buns but even then we've had way better. The potstickers, and buns weren't well seasoned and lacked flavor. Spicy wontons was pretty much chilli oil flavored and the October noodles just sucked straight up. It costed 70 something which was kind of a rip off. Very disappointed honestly I hate influencers online who think they have an actual palette. It's not hard to know what actual good food is. We were excited to try this spot after seeing all the buzz on social media and hearing how popular it's become. You can definitely tell a lot of care goes into the food. The noodles are freshly made in-house, which is impressive and something you don't find everywhere. For us, they did tend to stick together quite a bit (we even ended up using tongs to separate them more easily), but it was still nice knowing they were homemade. The buns were ok- very doughy and clearly made fresh. The wonton noodle soup was mild and simple, which we didn't mind. The spicy wontons weren't quite what we expected presentation-wise compared to photos we had seen in other reviews, but flavors can always vary. My personal favorite dish was the Jin Jins ......those really stood out. We did drive about an hour to get there and ended up eating our meal across the street at Whaler Brewery, which turned out to be a highlight for our family.
