Let's go 3.5 stars here, because they had good fries, plus they had sweet potato fries with no sugary coatings. Coke Zero is available on the fountain. The burger was good, but not outstanding. My 1/3 lb burger was cooked well done but not over done, and while it wasn't dry, it wasn't as juicy as I had hoped. I had passed this place up for years always wondering if it were any good. I noticed they stayed open after the brunt of the pandemic, so I figured they must be at least okay, if they were able to survive. I'm sad to say that I passed this place up for 4 years. I've been cheating myself. I come from a land of mom and pop burger stands. Dallas, doesn't have a large variety of good home made burgers. JC's is head of the class. The have different size burgers and a range of toppings. The burgers range from 1/4lb, 1/3lb, 1/2 lb, you then can add more patties if needed. I usually create my own burger, while my wife likes the bacon bbq burger. She thinks the bbq sauce is bulls eye. The burgers are made to perfection and seasoned just right. They offer 2 types of fries, home made and curly fries. You can't go wrong with either. I typically get a large of both. The homemade fries are seasoned with a salt and garlic mix, very pleasing. They are a little pricey, but in this economy, I can totally understand. I love their food, their employees are nice. They are quick to fix any mistakes (even if you made the mistake). I they have a points system that allows you to track your visits, so that you can get a free burger, I believe. They offer blue bell ice cream and shakes. Amazing food. Love this place! I ordered the Nooner burger (one with the egg on it) and it was greatness. I also tried there cheddar fries with bacon and jalapeño on it and those were so good. Went to JCs for the first time today in Allen. Good soda selection and easy to understand menu. They advertise how their burgers are hand packed daily and never frozen, so I assumed the fresh angle applies to all their menu options. I ordered the chicken tender basket assuming the tenders would be fresh & hand breaded. I was surprised when I got my meal with what were clearly 4 frozen bag style chicken tenders. The honey mustard was also just okay - very thick. I ate about 2 of the 4 chicken tenders before giving up due to bad taste. On a positive note - the fries were good & I loved the flavor of the ranch I ordered on the side. I'm willing to go back and try a burger next time since that is clearly the fresh option. I would not suggest the tenders to adults - they are really only suitable for a kid's menu. read more

Went for a burger on Sunday afternoon. Place was clean and wait staff were friendly. However, they failed to tell us they were out of their regular white buns and the burger came out on wheat buns. I do not like wheat bread and the bun was dry and the meat was also very dry. You couldn't find the tomato on there with a magnifying glass. Very disappointed. This used to be a go to place for a burger in Allen, but the quality and amount of food you get for your money is piss poor now. Spent $29.00 for two 1/2 pound cheeseburger combos today and I got about 3 ounces of fries with one which amounted to around 10 fries and on the other combo we got 6 small onion rings. He then said Hi, looking out in space. To diffuse the uncomfort, my husband asked for his recommendation. This place is better than some of the chains, but it has seriously slipped in quality vs price over the last couple of years. Fires aren't fresh cut like they used to be, burgers are smaller and (at least on my visit) cooked ahead and simply dressed the way you order them, which equals a cold burger. Prices are at he upper end for similar offerings in the area. Burger Island is much better quality of food, cooked fresh with fresh cut fries for less money. This place is not quite on par with Five Guys, but it is worlds better than Scotty P's which has also slipped quite a bit over the last couple of years. Service is cordial but seemed air headed and distracted, other sides are way too expensive for the quality of food. If this place would go back to the basics they started with they would be outstanding again. Fresh cut fries, fresh cooked burgers with fresh ingredients and a decent value for your $$$. Sadly they have slowly introduced more and more commissary items thinking their customers wouldn't notice or care, maybe some don't, but I do and so do others that used to be regulars here. I didn't have time to eat my burger there so I grabbed it to go and was on my merry way. After the short drive to my office, I dug right in. I was a little disappointed just unwrapping the burger. It really looked like a fast food burger, which is not what I wanted or expected. After taking the first bite, I was glad that it was cooked the right way - medium rare (though I don't think they asked me how I wanted it, I guess that's the default?) But there was nothing outstanding about the burger. Just a notch up from a Whataburger if you ask me. Normally when I want a hamburger I make it myself. There are times when I want to go out. The food is pretty good. I usually get the 1/3 lb cheeseburger and cheese fries. The meat does have a weird texture to it and it doesn't have the tastiest flavor. The meat isn't real juicy, but it is still good. You can watch the cook make your hamburger from start to finish. He has been there for a long time (at least 2005 when I started going there). The girls up front are usually pretty ditzy and don't have a clue about the food, customer interaction, or good service. This is the only down side to going there. I don't go there very often since I have to deal with these young bubble-heads. Other than that, the food is really good and worth a try. I do prefer the food over Scotty P's. read more

Not my favorite burger joint but my wife likes it. I like a well seasoned burger and to me JC's is lacking on that front and burgers are cooked to well done. They don't have a condiment bar or ketchup/mustard available at the tables so be sure you configure the burger how you want it at the counter. If you order fries they'll provide you with a single plastic dish of ketchup. I don't get that. Why not put out a dispenser? They offer 3 types of fries (thick cut, thin, and sweet potato) so there is some nice variety there. Thin cut is my favorite haven't tried the sweet potato.
