I am in love with this sub shop! The staff are friendly, there's something for everyone, the air conditioning is great, and it's located in a great place for families or shoppers in Danville. You would think it would be hard to compete with a Subway across the plaza, but nope! The adult sandwiches are a great size, but the kids sandwiches are surprisingly filling, and they are good for kids and adults alike. The prices are reasonable, and the shop gives off a friendly feeling. Please visit this shop, it is a trip worth taking. P.S. The lines, on weekends, can be long. I swapped Jersey Mike's for Subway in the Subway Diet and have not been disappointed. Everything looks, feels and tastes better at JM. I'm more than halfway into losing my target 20 pounds based on 'mini' turkey on wheat sandwiches for lunch and sometimes for dinner. The optional red sauce spread (whatever it is) adds a lot of taste. I never have the cheese - doesn't add enough to offset the calories. I like the JM location in Danville. I have been trying so hard to like this place. Of the 5 times I have been they have gotten my order wrong 4 times. They are so busy pushing "Mikes way" that they don't listen to what you have to say. Today:"Do you want it mikes way?" "No." "Do you want lettuce, onions and tomatoes?" "Yes." "That's mikes way." "No, because I want jalapenos and the red pepper spread and I only want a touch of olive oil". "But that's Mike's way!" "Well no, it's really not." What did I get? I got "Mike's Way" loaded with so much olive oil my bread was mush by the time I got it home (1 mile away). I also did not get the jalapenos or the red pepper spread. Mike needs to teach his employees to stop chatting....which they do non-stop and I'm ok with friendly employees but not when they don't listen to what you are ordering. I give up on this place!! I'm going back to the best kept sandwich place in town, which is Bagel Street Cafe in the Livery. Their dutch crunch rolls and super fresh ingredients are a winner every time. Born and raised in Philly! Glad this chain finally came out west! However, Danville chain skimps on meat. My Roast beef hoagie regularly is mostly lettuce. Please put some more meat on it. I usually like Jersey Mike's. Today, however, was a bad experience. I walk in to the store. 4 people behind the counter. No one asked to take my order. I continue to wait and still no service. Then, one of the counter people announced there is no bread for for regular or giant sized sandwiches. There is only mini sized bread and wraps. HUH????!!!! What kind of a sandwich shop runs out of bread???? One person was in the back doing something. No projected time as to when more bread would be available for the other sized sandwiches. Basically a "Like it or leave" attitude. Seems this attitude is prevalent. Don't think I'll be visiting in the near future. I like the sandwiches, just not the uncaring attitude. read more

I tried it for the first time the other day. My friend said it is better the the cheese steak shop. I have to say not even close. The one I had barley had a peppers and mushrooms in it. Couldn't see any onions and it was lacking flavor. Now customer service wise they get 5 stars taste 2 stars . I will have to try them again. They are still new. This is the best place to get a freshly made sandwich, the meat and cheese is cut from the slicer right in front of you no comparison to Subway. I ate here today for the first time. I ordered the club sub and I do have to admit that I was worried about the way they drenched my sandwich with oil and vinegar but OMG it was so delicious!!! Tried this evening and was sorely disappointed. Talk about weak sauce. Had I not taken my sandwich home, I would had complained. Got a #17 (Philly Cheese) large for $12. Got it home and it was all bread. There was hardly and filling; no joke, all bread. And the flavor was sub par. I'd go to Ike's or Cheese Steak Shop any day. For the money, you could do better. We wandered up and down the street before we finally landed at Jersey Mikes. The staff were friendly and politely pointed out how to order. We got the classic Italian and club sandwiches. The sandwiches really hit the spot; fresh meats, freshly sliced provolone, and fresh toppings ordered "Mikes" way. The only criticism: the bread was not fresh. We both agreed, it tasted like day old. Yikes Mikes! Tips for a sandwich? Yes, apparently building your sandwich to order and ringing you up obliges one to feeling typsy. Patrons be aware that if you are paying by debit/credit, you'll be asked to "answer one of the three questions", all of which relate to leaving a tip for service. Really? It left me wondering what service I was tipping for and it put me off so I opted out. It turns out, others were feeling the same way. They opted out too. Two stars for the fresh meats and friendly service! Negative three because you just need fresh bread on an excellent deli sandwich and I didn't find it worth $20. read more

Just came here for the first time with my brother. We biked from Walnut Creek and I had a coupon so we figured we'd try it out. So glad we did. To start the service was awesome! In my top 3 for sandwiches ever! Used to eat at JM's in Las Vegas all the time and I'm so glad they finally opened one close to me here in the East Bay. Got a #56 Big Kahuna and had them add Chipotle mayo. Awsome sandwich, love the extra cheese. $14.05 is a little pricey for a sandwich but it is a large one. The cashier was very friendly and bubbly and the guy who made my sandwich had it ready for me in around 5 mins. You can't go wrong here! read more

Went back for a second try at the invitation of Bennett. Had a turkey and provolone. Was very fresh as the turkey and provolone is sliced indivudually for each sandwich. Had it natural without any additonal condiments and it tasted very good. As fresh as Dominicos without the cost of Dominocos and without the thin slices of Ikes. I recommend this sandwich as to taste and a value when compared to the local competitors. read more

INCONSISTENT. I tried this place for the first time last Friday -- the best sub around -- good bread, meat, fixings, and dressing. I loved it so much that I ordered subs for the family the next day online. I cannot believe what a 180 degree change this was -- 4 out of our five sandwiches were done wrong -- missing ingredients in some, added ingredients in others -- utter disappointment. Particularly in light of my raving about this place to the family. How can you mess up the order so badly when it is all written down in an online order? Fresh bread, freshly cut meat. Way better than subway. They load on the oil and vinegar a little thick, I always ask for it on the side. As transplant to the west coast from the east I am always happy to have a good sub when needed. There is a high turnover rate for the lower ranked employees here, so expect some of them to be slow on the service end and sometimes slightly confused. read more

I've always had good experiences before today. Today however, I had a veggie sub which they made from the cheese they cut on the meat carver. Usually they use the precut cheese so that pieces of meat aren't included in a veggie sub. I decided to overlook that but I was a little grossed out by the grungy look several employees were sporting. Anyway, I opened my sub and noticed a couple small short hairs like beard or eyebrows on the side of the sub on the paper. I wiped that away and then noticed a long dark hair tangled in the lettuce. I wanted to vomit. There were at least two employees ( siblings I think) with beards and long hair without hair nets or beard nets or even ponytails . This would be a pretty basic thing to fix- just follow the health code. Very disappointing because generally I love Jersey Mikes and go out of my way to go there. It seemed like there wasn't a more senior manager on duty- all young men on a Saturday morning. read more
