So... we wanted to go to Ji-Roz for sometime and finally we went and it was great! We went in a time when some staff were on break or something like that so service was a bit slow in the beginning but the gentleman who was there did a great job tending to all tables as soon he was free. Never an empty glass! That's is top for me. We ordered the chicken skewers with regular fries, the grilled cheese with zucchini fries, and the grilled lamb melt with zucchini fries. We enjoyed all the food ordered. I must say the marinade on the chicken was awesome and made the chicken so tasty and juicy! Yummmm The place is located at a nice location but if you are not paying attention you may miss it... as it is kinda on the back/side of 2 Chefs. We tried the food truck when it came to the hood and loved it (we had the chicken and lamb gyros with fries. That yummy experience led us to try the actual restaurant. Again we ordered the gyros- stuffed with tender lamb, tzatziki, and feta, in a super soft pita. We also ordered the fresh cut seasoned fries. For an app we had the Feta balls- very good, I would have liked more of the honey drizzle, they were slightly dry. We def will be going back here for more! read more

Stopped in for a late lunch at 2pm. Started off with the Saganaki (flambeed cheese). Need to get the servers the long lighters for their own safety! Delicious and especially the bread that came with that. next we were in the mood for a Gyro Salad Plate, but did not see that on the menu. Asked our server if the Chef could create that, along with some pita. No problem! Fantastic salad and the pita stayed soft, pillowy and a nice crust/crunch. The feta and olives appetizer is amazing but I just didn't like the braised lamb taste and my wife's chicken kabobs were dry and lacking taste. My husband and I stopped by here for a quick snack en route from Atlanta to Asheville for the weekend. So glad we swung by! We ended up there there for happy hour (couple bucks off of house wines, small plates and beers). The staff were all very friendly and nice! We ordered a couple small plates to split- the fried calamari and the saganaki. The fried calamari had great seasoning and flavor although the portion was slightly smaller than I would expect for the price (or the price was a couple bucks higher than I would have put for the portion size). The saganaki cheese was an interesting dish I hadn't ever tried before- it's similar in texture to a gruyere type cheese but it's cooked in an iron skillet and then flambéed tableside with brandy and lemon for a fun fire show! You have to eat it pretty immediately or it cools down to a fairly chewy slightly funny texture. The bread had some aromatic seasonings on it and was nice and warm. We also got some of their desserts to go- the baklava was delicious- they told me it was made with 30 layers of phyllo dough which I believe. The pistachio and honey flavors were on point. I ate the whole giant square including the candied lemon and orange peels it came with. Definitely recommend the baklava- probably to split though haha! Haven't tried the spicy baklava cigarillos or the chocolate mousse cake but they looked too delicious to pass up. Great little modern Greek place! Definitely recommend. read more

I have yet to eat here, but I stopped in twice during restaurant week to try the Bronzini and they didn't have it both times. I'm pescatarian so I usually opt for the vegetarian or seafood option on most restaurant week menus. I had my heart set on the Bronzini and was super excited to try it, but the first night I went, the fish hadn't made it to the restaurant from Charleston, so John (the owner) gave my mom and I giftcards to come back! So obviously I returned a couple days later with 4 more people because, again, I was stoked to try the Bronzini and I kid you not, they ran out! John came out and greeted us, apologized that there wasn't anymore fish and gave us free dessert to make up for it! In the end, the service here is great. They're local. Really really great and savory food. Everything was cooked to perfection. All the flavors made into the dish that were of creation of the establishment complimented each other. The pace was very impressive. You get the feel of a very high end place while it's super quick paced when serving their customers. The drinks were all original constructs of the bar tender, but it was a blessing. As someone who isn't a huge fan of drinking, I was really shocked by the quality and hospitality. My significant other and I also were not discriminated with potency and respect despite being of a younger generation. All in all if you're looking for a fine night out and enjoy the cuisine then I'd highly suggest these guys. The only reason 2 stars was given was because the food is good. Went with my husband and we're waiting on our friends to arrive. Took 20 min before we got a water at our table and was acknowledged. We place our orders, everyone gets their food but me, the server clearly forgot to enter it. By the time everyone at the table was done eating my food was still no where to be found. I told the server to cancel half my order and still had to wait an additional 15 min for the one item. Maybe good for take out if they enter the order but the service was Horrible!!!! read more

It's not often my wife and I get to try something new without our three kids, but since the grandparents were in town we took the opportunity and we were not disappointed. We didn't have reservations so the outside tables were all that was available but on such a beautiful night that's where we wanted to sit anyway. The service was exceptional. The drinks were tasty. The food was fresh. Because of my cancer treatments I'm limited to vegetarian and vegan options which they had plenty. The zucchini fries, spreads, and falafel were delicious. We had lunch here, and it was excellent. I had the Greek fries, which have pulled lamb, tzatziki, onions, tomatoes, etc. on top. My wife had the lentil salad with salmon, and my daughter had the kids pita pizza. We were all very satisfied with our choices. I tasted my wife's salad as well, and the dressing was excellent! They even brought out some pulled lamb for my 1 year old son who is a dedicated meat eater and was stealing food from the rest of us. Went to Jo-ritz this evening. The service was good but the meal was poor. The fried cheese was ok and the Gyro came with shredded lamb without tomatoes and lettuce. I have never had a Gyro with shredded meat. We asked for Tzatziki sauce and we were charged extra. We go out to many restaurants and I would only go here for drinks or if you were desperate. The meal cost $120 and there was nothing worth coming back for. Too bad. I rarely give negative reviews because the restaurant business is hard but this was just poor :( read more

Tried Ji-Roz for the first time for a Tuesday lunch, not crowded at all with attentive service. Plenty of parking on the street in front, and the lot in back. Space is gorgeous with a true open kitchen. The restaurant bills itself as a "Greek joint", with emphasis on local farm to table meats. Our table tried the octopus (small portion, but very good), the wood-fired chicken gyro ("should have gotten the lamb burger"), and the pulled lamb gyro. Be aware that the lamb gyro is NOT like others you may have tried, which includes pork and is sliced. I had to ask for additional tzatziki, as the pulled meat and fries inside the pita were a little on the dry side. Like the balance of the reviews, our dining experience was truly a mixed bag. OK so I went to Ji-Roz this afternoon and had the Big Fat Common Gyro. It was delicious. Was it exactly what I was looking for ? Almost . I would give this a 9 for Flavor and a 8 for presentation. The meat was moist , had great flavor and the portions were generous. Pita Bread was definitely fresh and the tzatziki sauce was great. The only think I wish was the did not hide the tomato and onion chopped so fine in the tzatziki on the bottom of the sandwich, but had it on top as toppings and then the sauce also on top of that and also still on the bottom. I know that is nit picky, but overall would I go back for this sandwich. Yes definitely Also had the roasted beets instead of the fries. I am not sure how their fries are but the beets were just all delicious. Hot and very tasty. Nice sweetness to them. On the other hand my wife had me order her the chicken salad to go and then 10 minutes later were told it is not on the menu. She had been looking at the online menu. So she tried the feta balls and really did not care for them and was really not sure what to expect when she ordered as it sounded good by the description. We visited Ji-Roz with high hopes! We just returned from Athens and wanted to find some great Greek food in Greenville. What we found was a very nice restaurant in a beautiful location and food that was lacking authenticity and excellence. This first thing I witnessed was pita in a pre-packaged plastic bag on the counter being taken out for service. The bread served with our appetizer tasted (about a day old) from the bag too. Next, we ordered a selection of dishes including roasted lamb gyro sandwiches. Expecting the schwarma type of lamb gyro I was disappointed to find the meat inside my 'gyro style' sandwich was shredded lamb. At least the tzatziki was good. As I looked around the space I was impressed by the attention to details from floor to ceiling with a glaring exception of the bar. The artfully designed bar area with a nice sorting of liquor bottles is broken by the placement of a large screen tv in the center of everything. Ouch. read more

Today was my first experience at Ji-Roz and one that I want to definitely build on in the near future. A friend of mine and I had just wrapped up at Drift Spa next door (fabulous btw) and were debating between Two Chefs and this place since they were located right in front of us. We chose Ji-Roz because who doesn't love Greek/Mediterranean cuisines?! First off the atmosphere of this place is charming for days! Love the decor and where the kitchen and bar are positioned. It is located on the bottom floor of a luxury living building so all I could think of was the quaint comfortable feeling of having "Regulars" come in. The location is situated right as you are going into downtown so for me and where I have to travel from I love the fact I don't have to drive into a downtown cluster mess. So kudos for location. My friend and I couldn't decide on what we wanted so we decided on 4 small plates. Zucchini Fries, Pi-ki-tia, Feta Balls, and the Woodfire Octopus. The octopus and pi-ki-tia plates were my favorite. The only thing I thought was off was that on the menu it listed pita bread would be served with the pi-ki-tia and in reality it came with a regular type of Italian bread. The dish consisted of their 4 main spreads that you would put onto the pita. Not going to complain what so ever because the bread it came with was really good anyways and we were starving lol. I had really high hopes for the zucchini fries however the breading was a little tasteless making the dish bland... the tzatziki sauce was delicious! There are way more options to try on their menu and because I wasn't in love with ALL four of my small plates (I enjoyed two)doesn't mean that I won't be back to try other items. Wonder restaurant. Service was great. I like everything that I had which were the big common gyro with zucchini fries & wood fired chicken skewers and roasted beets. Let me tell ya, the zucchini fries and roasted beets were phenomenal. The big common gyro is good & I have rather high expectations for gyros just because for my 3 weeks in Greece, I ate gyros every other day. The tzatzki sauce brings everything together. It was cool & refreshing (temperature wise) and in combination with the warm pita & freshly cooked pork+lamb meat (from gyro), every bit bursted Grecian fireworks. The mixture of creamy lightness & warm savory meats & crunchy onions plus warm, fresh bread is just really good. The wood fired chicken skewers are very delicious; lemony and peppery without being too salty and overwhelming. You can really taste the wood fire without the chicken being too dry which can happen quite easily with chicken skewers especially in cube shape. The chicken skewers are about 4 ounces (1 ounce each chicken cube). I love love love the zucchini fries, it tastes like it was fried in olive oil; yummmm!!! And the beets are so delicious. It doesn't have the weird after taste like beets often do and the marinade tones down the taste of beets to a well balanced flavor. We went to celebrate my sisters birthday and it was a perfect choice. We ordered 3 different appetizers, the Feta Balls, Meatballs and the Saganaki (flaming cheese). These were ALL great choices, as a matter of fact I wanted them for my dinner choice too. I ordered the lamb burger, I really loved the flavor.....it was cooked to perfection at medium rare. They were out of the dandelion greens which I REALLY wanted. My sister had the "Big Fat". I have to say the lamb on the Gyros is wonderful...NOT processed at all. The spanakopita was really great also, the phyllo dough is homemade. We had 2 different desserts and they were SOOOO good!! Sorry because I can't recall the names but they were delish!!! First time here and really enjoyed it. In the mood for saganaki cheese. Ordered that and the dolemades for starters. Yes the waitress brings the cheese out and lights it on fire at the table (though didn't say "Opa!"). The cheese was so good, a little crispy on the outside the way it should be, the housemade bread was perfect, slightly chewy and a great accompaniment to the cheese. The dolemades were delicious too, I like that the avgolemono sauce didn't overpower the grape leaves. I got the pork gyro. The pork was moist and flavorful and I like that they didn't skimp on fries! The food was good and fresh. I was able to walk to the restaurant, enjoy my lunch and return all in a one hour lunch break. I'll be using them more often for pick up lunches also. I had the wood grilled chicken club sandwich, was really good and had the wood grill flavor. Fries are really good too. My niece has the vegetarian gyro and enjoyed it. Will try something new the next time. My only complaint is just the restaurant was way to hot for me, but I think I'll just ask to sit on opposite side of the room, away from stoves and ask for ice in my water.
