Mapo tofu, Fish w/ spicy bean sauce

Fantastic food. Fresh, each dish came out piping hot as it was ready. We had the crispy cumin beef sichuan style, fish with spicy bean sauce, mapo tofu, and popcorn chicken with basil as an app. It was all incredible. Very authentic, very delicious. The mapo tofu in particular was amazing with great sichuan flavor -- the best we've had in ages (especially since Joe's noodle house closed). Definitely worth a trip and I hope their quality continues to stay this incredible!

A true hidden gem! Amazing and authentic spicy Chinese food with a creative fusion touch. Great service and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend checking this place out. My favorite would be the pepper & the salted fried frog

I would come back - nice pleasant ambience, very clean and inviting. Chinese food tasted authentic and delicious - we got kung pao chicken, mongolian beef, and a steamed fish diet. My parents felt it was a bit salty but overrall authentic. Chinese dishes were a bit pricey for a relatively small portion just compared to the average Chinese restaurant. Finally, their sushi pleased! I didn't love the California roll (was expecting kani salad), but the other sushi was delicious and fresh. Great tasting rice and fish. The service was nice - waiter was patient and laidback but attentive.

This place was wonderful! The sushi was delicious! I consider myself a sushi connoisseur. All the rolls today were amazing. They even had sirachi sauce! My gal pals and I looked to yelp after a morning at an adventure park up the road. The service was fast and I didn't feel rushed either. This place is good for lunch or even a date night. The ambiance in the restaurant is amazing. If in this area I will definitely be back!

As of Dec 16, it's still a sushi only menu. Nonetheless, my family and I still enjoyed ourselves because we love sushi. The staff are wonderful and very accommodating. I recently had a couple tooth extractions and can't eat larger sushi rolls, so upon request they were able to cut a few of the rolls a bit smaller for me. We ordered several rolls, some of which were on the boat and a few were on a separate platter. As usual, the rolls were well made and delicious. The hurricane roll and dancing eel may be my favorite, but the dragon and volcano rolls are certainly close contenders. The seaweed salad and avocado salad are always great starters here. Salads are a hit or miss for me, but I enjoy them here because they taste freshly prepared. We also had the spring rolls, though we were looking for potstickers that evening. Hopefully when they have their full menu available, it will be an option. I'm so looking forward to it!

We ordered from their sushi menu last week and while it's decent for the area, I'm not locked in on it being my forever sushi place. I ordered the spicy tuna, shrimp tempura and Philadelphia roll. The spicy roll had good flavor but was almost over pureed. Usually I like it mixed up like that but the texture seemed off for me. The Philadelphia roll was delicious but as you can see by the photos, there was a lot of in inconsistency in the amount of salmon in each roll. The shrimp tempura roll was delicious. No notes. I'd get jiang court again, the pricing was fantastic and they were very fast. Def worth another try.

    Cucumber Salad

First I'll say my sushi was good. I am disappointed because I expected a cucumber salad, as shown on your website, but what I received was just a basic garden salad (watch I could have made) with a few cucumbers and two grape tomatoes for $7.95. I thought I was getting an Asian-style cucumber salad, not this. I would have returned it, but I didn't realize until I had already reached my destination.

I honestly can't believe that we have authentic Chinese this good here in Olney now! We've gotten carryout a number of times and have never had a bad dish.

This place opened not too long ago and since I am a sushi fan, I had to go. The place was very quiet for dinner time. I think our family was the only one there, we didn't mind though thinking food would come out faster but it didn't :) maybe because they wanted to spend extra time making sure our sushi looks presentable. They told us to scan the QR code to order which we did but they didn't tell us half the menu (that are not sushi) are not available yet. Not sure when the full menu will become available but right now, only sushi. Service was good. I liked the sushi as well. I would come back to try other dishes when they are available.

The prices were high for the quality. The rice was hard. The rolls fell apart. Bright spot the miso soup was great and plentiful.

Ordering in advance yielded an order that was ready shortly after I walked in. There wasn't a lot of excess parking at this gas station and I didn't need gas, so I felt strange just pulling up to a pump for this food, but I did. I wasn't 100% sure what kind of burrito I was getting, but it turned out to be a sushi burrito wrapped in seaweed and rice. They had a bunch of tofu options, and basil tofu was mouthwatering. There wasn't a lot of customization on the online ordering, but truthfully I would have struggled to do better than the mix of crisp carrots, savory panko, and cool lettuce, among other things that rounded out the burrito. I will say the tea wasn't as good; overly sweet for me. But I haven't had an Asian burrito that good since the poke bowl place I used to frequent in New Orleans before the COVID era.

I got the tofu and the beef bowl and they were really filling. I like that there was a salad with lots of edamame and carrots and corn. The black pepper beef was really delightful. And filling. Maybe next time I'll try the burrito since it's in their namesake but for today I just got the rice bowl. It's definitely more of a takeout place since it's in the convenience store of the gas station, read: not much ambience. But while I was waiting for my order, which was not more than 10 minutes, several people trickled in to pick up or to order-- I'm glad that it seems to be known around the area!!

Kanpai is in a prime place along Rockville Pike, but depending on when you go you may find easy parking. (If you're not bothered about where to park, ignore what I just said.) Out front there's something that looks like a tuk-tuk or rickshaw. Tbh, don't know if it's theirs or the business next door. The restaurant itself is clean and elegant. Also, not as loud as some Korean BBQs (thinking of KPOT off of Randolph Rd), which is important if you don't like being overwhelmed by everyone else's noise. That is one big '+' in Kanpai's favor. The waiter was cool and very helpful. Because of him I now know what the thin meat slices are meant for (which is for the soup), before then I had no clue. The food itself is good. Like, why wouldn't it be? I actually prefer the shabu-shabu (soup), makes me wish I knew how to do that myself so I wouldn't have to go out as much. Yes, the grill meats were great, as was the kimchi. These places are not cheap, but it was enjoyable while I was there. If you're not in a rush you can go a few doors down afterward to an import store selling everything from K-chips to puzzle-kits. So I would say...take your time. But don't warm your seats for more than 90 minutes, as Korean BBQs tend to kick people out (nicely, nicely) if one overstays. P.S. I'm sure they have some great drinks there, but even if I wanted to I couldn't loiter. That's what Bethesda is for. (Or at least how it used to be.)

It's a bit pricey but was worth it. I would visit again.

Was looking for a restaurant to try in the Rockville area so, I was sifting through google and happen to find this restaurant. The parking lot is shared by many restaurants but it moderate size so no issue finding a parking space. Upon entering on a Monday at noon time for lunch we were seated fairly quickly. The interior was very clean and modern with nice music playing in the background. We decided to skip the appetizers and instead ordered three entrees which were the boat noodle soup, chicken pad thai, and the crab fried rice. For the boat noodle it had medium spice but don't let that fool you. The first sip of broth had me coughing and birth was flavorful. The pad Thai had a good flavor but the best pad Thai will always be at mi lay cay in Wheaton. Crab fried rice had good portion size and flavor also good. All in all, had a good experience here and would recommend anyone to come and try this place. Will be back in the future to try the different variety of dishes.

The Little Hanoi was interesting. I didn't enjoy it much. The Laotian papaya salad was good, but it was overly salty and saucy. I came on a Friday (a day before the holiday) and they didn't have AC, so it was hot inside. The ambiance is also pretty dimmed and mostly using natural lighting. It is a pretty busy restaurant I'd say for being in the corner/back of the shopping center.
