We had a great auto shop in San Diego and I thought a diamond in the rough like that would be hard to replace here in Chicago, but after reading the reviews for this Jiffy Lube location I thought I'd give it a shot and it didn't disappoint! It was Tuesday morning at 10am so they were wide open. A mechanic opened my car door like a valet, greeted me and took my keys. In the small lobby there was a carafe of Caribou coffee, which I sipped until Steve came in to discuss what I wanted done on the car. Disclaimer: when it comes to car repair, I try to be prepared. I used to just go to a shop when I started feeling guilty about not having taken the car in for awhile, which is a quick way to ruin an expensive machine. Furthermore, I hated the awkward dialogue between me and the mechanic where I wasn't sure what really needed to be done and what the shop needed to meet their bottom line. Mechanics also hate this conversation, because most of them really just want to take good care of your car. Thus, I started to use a spreadsheet to help me keep track of it all (from trustmymechanic.com and reconciled with my car's owner's manual). As a result, Steve was able to pull up Toyota's service recommendations for my mileage, and we compared it to what my spreadsheet suggested, and came up with a service plan. No high-pressure sales pitch here! The service took about 30 minutes, my car was clean and vacuumed, and a mechanic had the door open and engine running for me when I was ready to leave. I can't imagine I'd have gotten better auto- and customer-service from Northside Toyota. Improvements? Maybe wifi in the lobby, but they can't really do much better than their status quo! read more

In a pinch and short on time, I needed a place to perform an oil change as my normal workshop/garage was out of commission for the weekend. I'm not sure when Jiffy Lube changed their model, or maybe it's just this location (based on the reviews, it might be), but what a great experience all around. I was called 'sir' and thanked for stopping in as the gentleman held the door for me. He asked if he could get me some fresh coffee while I wait, and that it would only be a few minutes before my car was done. "Where am I??" I thought to myself. This place is the tops. Horrible service. I was the only car here when I pulled in. I asked for an oil change and let the person know that it was a fleet (company) vehicle. 5 minutes later another vehicle pulled in, and they stopped working on my car and moved to the new vehicle. 5 minutes later a new vehicle pulled in and the team split between the case that pulled in after mine and to the new one. After a short while both of the cars that pulled in after mine were done. Then another car pulled in, again that car was worked on. After 30 minutes my car finally started to get its standard oil change. This will be the last time I visit this jiffy lube and most likely any jiffy lube. I can take my car anywhere. Lost business whether a company is paying for it out not. read more

I have been experiencing problems with my 10-year old tires losing air pressure recently, partly due to the cold weather. And partly due to a rim tire issue that started when I would take the car through the car wash machine on Broadway near Foster. I know....time to get new tires, but I have to finish paying tuition and the taxes that come from being self employed. The guys at this Jiffy Lube have been very gracious every time I drive in to have my tires inflated, for free. I know now how to inflate my tires with the $.75 air machine at gas stations. Had a great experience here today. Yes, it's expensive for just an oil change BUT it seriously took 15 min or so. I had been trying to get in to a shop for just an oil change and it was impossible. Wait times of an hour to an hour and a half, or they were fully booked. I'm willing to pay extra for the convenience of not having to wait an hour for something that takes 10 minutes to do. I have been going to this Jiffy Lube for over a year now, and after I brought my car (Hondaliza Rice) in for my oil change last week, I felt compelled to share how fantastic this operation is! I tried this particular location after going to another Jiffy Lube in the city and wondering if they even CHANGED the oil on my car, as the typical vacuum out and window wash was not performed. Not all of the oil places that I have changed my oil at care about your vehicle and especially you; the important customer that you are. Before coming here I went ahead and checked the Yelp reviews to ensure that I would be satisfied to some degree when I came here. When I came, right away I got a good impression from the place. Very energetic workers, and very speedy with what they do and keep the customers coming in and out. I was there for about 20 minutes had my oil and filter changed and I was on my way out of there. Enough is enough. I have been going to Jiffy Lube since I bought my first car when I was 19. Over the years, I have had a few bumps in the road with them, but now I am official done giving them my business. I have been double charged. I have slowly but surely lost almost all of the bolt covers for my wheels after each tire rotation. I have had services I requested not attended to. Sounds like I should have stopped going a long time ago. Today was the last straw. I went in for an oil change this past Thursday. After I left I noticed that my air bag light was on, as was the over head lamp in the car. Once I got home I checked all the doors and found one slightly ajar. I closed it and thought the problem was fixed. Then today when I got in my car, the air bag light was still on. So, I went up there to have them look at it. I was pretty much told after a brief two minute look at my car that there is nothing they can do and I'll have to go to my dealer. Apparently, it is just a magical coincidence that the light came on immediately after having my oil changed. I called their customer service line and was pretty much told I was on my own by a very rude woman. My dealer will be charging me $78 to just look at it and who knows how much to fix it. Jiffy Lube will never see another cent out of my wallet. read more

Went here because I wanted a quick oil change and I knew my guy would be too busy, what with it being the weekend n' all. Very charming and friendly service. Found a $10 off coupon online before I went and left there without spending more than $30 (I have a 4yr old Pontiac, so nothing's fancy). They even vacuumed out all the leaves on my floorboards! I made the move after Ashland Tire took a 10 hour day to change the oil in my car even with an appt. I was hesitant to move my oil changes to a "chain" but made the move to this Jiffy Lube out of convenience and have not looked back. They are ALWAYS extremely polite and speedy. They've made good when I've returned to have low tire pressure check and fluids topped-off. Best price for AC freon recharge around and they gave me $20 off after I asked if that was the best they could do on the price. This location, specifically, is GREAT. This location isn't the closest to my house, but I discovered while taking an alternate route home from work one day, and now its the only location I visit. They are fast...extremely fast. I usually stop on my way home, and I've been in and out in less than 10 minutes. I was having a few issues with my car a couple of months ago (nothing major, but it just wasn't driving as well)...I brought it in, explained it to them, and now my car is running well again. They do a good job of explaining all the recommended maintenance, why things are important, but its an easy "no" if you don't want to have it done that time...definitely not high pressure. This is my first Yelp review, I created an account just to praise this place. I'd been to this Jiffy Lube once before, to get a simple oil change. At that time I was satisfied with the quick & friendly service. This is the first car I'd owned in well over a decade so I had chosen the location due to being so close to my home and being a brand I was somewhat familiar with. Well, yesterday, after a ridiculously bad week, I found out my brake lights were not working. On a Friday afternoon right before a planned Saturday trip. Argh! I called Jiffy Lube, told them the problem and they said to come right over. I quickly (& carefully!) headed over where they checked out the car as soon as I drove up. Turns out I needed a new brake switch. They don't carry them but said that if I bought one and brought it to them, they could install it. Saturday morning, I got the part from Auto Zone and the guys at Jiffy Lube popped it right in. The service charge price was CRAZY LOW! I told the men that I would put them on my Christmas cookie list because the service was so great and this experience was the only bright part of my week! I like that they greet me as soon as I drive up. I love that they open my door for me & offer my coffee even though I don't drink it. I really appreciate that everyone treats me with respect and courtesy even though I know nothing about cars. My vehicle was making a terrible noise as I ventured out for my errands this past Saturday. I remembered this Jiffy Lube was nearby and I pulled in. Every single person I spoke with there was so nice and so understanding about the situation. They didn't just fix the problem, but helped me understand how it might have happened. It turns out someone probably tried to steal the wheels off my car the night before. Jiffy Lube had the lugs tightened and had me on my way in no time. And there were two other customers there. Those people were promptly taken care of, also. Again, I can't say enough about the friendliness and helpfulness of the employees. Beware this place! They will ruin your engine and try to place the blame on you. I went in for a oil change on March 5th and two weeks later I found out that I had no oil in my car. WTF??!! After getting the oil changed and driving for a couple weeks my car started making a noise that sounded like a broken fan. I didn't know what it could have been so I decided to check the oil level of my car. To my shock and horror I found out that my car had no oil in it. There wasn't even a oil mark on the tip of the dipstick. I couldn't believe it and was afraid that my engine was ruined. The day I found out I had no oil, yesterday, March 19th 2016 I immediately called Jiffy Lube and told them that after getting my oil changed a couple weeks ago my car started making weird noises so I checked the oil in my car and that it was bone dry. The guy on the phone tells me to bring my car in and I said I will but I have to go to the store to buy some oil and put it in my since I can't drive the car without any oil in it. An hour later I arrive at the Jiffy Lube and I get greeted by an employee outside. I tell him I'm here because I just called and said my car had no oil after just getting an oil change. The employee replied by telling me "yeah, you called about the issue with your transmission". I said no, I didn't say that. I said I have no oil in my car after coming in for an oil change. Already rude and unprofessional approach only got worse from there. I go to the waiting room and all employees gather around my car. They start taking things apart and working on my car. No one bothered to come in to let me know what they were doing. I walked up to them and asked that I get informed about what they are doing before they work on my car. The manager on duty tells me very rudely that they are working on fixing my car. I said before you do that you need to tell me what is wrong with my car and why it is that I had no oil in it after getting an oil change a couple of weeks ago. I asked how do I know if my engine is not ruined since I drove the car with no oil in it for two weeks. The manager than says to me that car had oil in it, it was low, but there was oil in it. I said yes, there is oil in my car because I put some in it in order to get here. How can a car have a low level of oil after two weeks? And he was arguing with me the whole time. I asked to know why my car lost the supposed oil they put in it two weeks prior and the manager claimed that there was a bad gasket and the oil leaked. His words were "we get bad parts sometimes". Do you really get bad parts Jiffy Lube? And than proceed to put those bad parts in customers vehicles? And than don't even want to take the blame for ruining the car? I again asked how I am supposed to know what damage was done to my engine due to having no oil in it and to the fact that my car was making weird broken fan noises. The manager again said to me that my car had oil in it. Yes, it did, because I just put oil in it myself. Nothing but yelling, rude, unprofessional service from this place. I asked that my complain about not having any oil in my car be recorded in the system and that I get a written copy. One of the employee proceeds to write down what went wrong with the original oil change on a piece of paper and hands it to me. Really??! I couldn't believe it. How stupid do you think I am? That I will just take a hand written note and be OK with it? I again asked for the complaint to be written in the system and that they print the paper for me. The manager writes that I came in with low oil level and they filled it up for me. Really? Again, how stupid do you think I am. I asked for the third time that they write down the truth and what happened and give it to me. The employee said that the manager will write it again. And no, it still didn't say all the details of what I said. I can't believe the terrible service I received when I first got my oil changed at Jiffy Lube and than after they made a mistake that possibly ruined my engine, Jiffy Lube still tries to blame me and not take any responsibility for what they did wrong. Save your car and go somewhere else. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. read more
