I finally had a chance to stop at Jim's Place in Collierville and have dinner with a friend of mine. We started off with the Skirt Steak appetizer. This tidbits of perfectly cooked skirt steak, warm pita bread, and fresh made Chimichurri was a perfect start to our meal. We both enjoyed the lamb burger (I had heard about this burger for months, and I was finally getting to try it). Upon ordering we were offered our choice of cheese, and I wrongly chose the smoked gouda. The gin and tonic I was drinking must have gone to my head for me to order a strong cheese against a strong flavored protein such as lamb as it DID NOT go. I did not hear an offer of crumbled feta which would complement this burger perfectly. I was a bit disappointed to notice that there was no tzatziki sauce mentioned in he menu description and I think if they added this tasty sauce to this burger it would tie the whole thing together quite nicely. There are so many other dishes I wish to try off of their menu and I cannot wait to come back after the holidays. read more

I love this place it is located in a strip mall but does not feel like it at all. I am able to sneak away for lunch here from time to time since I work right now the street. Everyone here is always...and I mean always great service here is consistently good. They have a great lunch menu from club sandwiches, salads and chicken Parmesan you can find something you will love. I really want to give this place higher marks. It has a nice décor and atmosphere, but the food is average. First off, we tried it about a year ago for lunch, and loved it. I ordered a soup and salad, which was great. Then we came back for dinner last week, and ordered steaks (since it is a steak place), but were heavily disappointed. The steak was overcooked, and quite pricey for such a mediocre cut. The vegetables of the day (Brussel sprouts) were terrible. The cocktails were not mixed well, and I actually had to send the first one back because I could not drink it, it was so sour! They replaced it, but left the first one on the bill. Fail. Otherwise, the service was pleasant, but not great. Bottom line, go for lunch, and don't order the steak. read more

We recently had a group of 25 reserve one of the private rooms at Jim's Place. From the minute we stepped into the restaurant, the service was better than one can imagine. The servers went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. We ordered from the private dining menu and every person in our party was extremely satisfied with their meal. I had the Filet Bearnaise and it was cooked perfect and not sure how a steak could be much better. My wife had the Stuffed Shrimp which were very large and she loved it. The Key Lime pie for desert was one of the best I have had. A glass was never empty in our group, the appetizers were outstanding, the servers knew us by name very quickly, and the room was perfect for a group our size or larger. Definitely coming back! Quality food served here. If you ever wanted to try calf/beef liver, this is the place to try it. I had it done southern style and it is fork tender and melts in your mouth. I have always been a liver fan and this was the best prepared liver I have ever tasted. If you like the taste of lamb, try the lamb burger. It is a monstrous serving of daily fresh ground lamb that will not disappoint. If you are asked whether or not you want bread/rolls, make sure you say yes. They are hot, fluffy, soft rectangle puffs of deliciousness. I am excited to sample more of their offerings. Finally found an american restaurant serving quality food prepared well. read more

We have frequented Jim's Place Grille quite frequently ever since its opening. We return as often as possible because of the friendship established with Dimitri and James and their excellent staff and servers. The courtesy, efficiency and friendliness of the staff, added to the fine atmosphere, set Jim's Place Grille apart from other restaurants in the area. It is our TOP choice of places to dine. The greetings and "adieus" are always there to make us feel "at home." The service is superb, with servers who are well trained, attendant and cheerful. The variety of food, and its preparation are stellar qualities not to be missed any time for lunch or supper. Do try the calf's liver, the souflima, the grilled catfish and the great Jim's salad. Went with friends for New Years Eve. There was a problem with our reservations. Another group was seated at the table that was to be reserved for our party of 6. Great food - fairly poor service from the wait staff and the hostess stand. Took an hour and 15 minutes for 2 people the first time I was in for 2 entrees. I have been doing to -go since then, as I'm in town for work and there are limited decent options, but the experience with the hostess stand is enough to deter me away. Heaven has been served on a plate in Collierville TN. For starters I had the Gumbo and I promise I thought I was back at home eating Momma's best straight out of Louisiana. The steak was cooked just right medium and my wife's crab cakes magically landed on my plate twice. I loved it! They could use a bigger seating area, but the ambience and food was on point. My husband and I made reservations on a Saturday night for our 10yr anniversary dinner. We were able to be seated as soon as we arrived, about 15 min early. Our sever was knowledgeable, kind, and very pleasant. My husband accidently ordered the wrong entree. Just a miscommunication. They were happy to correct it. We had table visits from not just one but two managers (maybe owners). They wanted to be sure that we were completely satisfied and we were. I was in Jim's this past weekend 11/11/2016 . Everyone was nice and service was good. We have eaten at the other Jim's and decided to try this one. I had the rib eye. It was the worse steak I have ever had. It was burnt to a crisp on the bottom. I told my waiter. I figured at least someone would come talk to me about it. My friend had the Blacken Catfish. It was off flavor. Sad to say they won't be getting more of my business. I did fill out the questionnaire and put my phone number on it. I figured I would have at least got a call. I guess they have you fill those out to make you feel good. Sad you spend that kind of money and get that bad of food. ( Was a special dinner for us.) Been here many times, but this one was not up to par. Snapper was dry with several bones. Chargrilled oysters lacked flavor. Waiter had too many tables to pay much attention to us. Had to stop eating and rearrange the dishes when the salad and gumbo came out before we had finished the oysters. Gumbo was way too thick--more like red beans and rice. Asked if we wanted desert when we were only half way through our meal and then left check. They were running a promo if you ate there through 5/31 for a gift card for a future visit. Nice restaurant for a social or business dinner. Lots of wood accents give it an upscale feel. They have a small full bar area with friendly servers and a bar menu. We ate in the restaurant and I had the pork tenderloin. The meat was very tender and flavorful. In the couple of visits that I have made, my impression is that they take great care to prepare their food to look and taste very good. They do tend to rush you through the courses a bit, so let your server know if you want them to take their time. I will definitely return to try more of their menu. read more

Food and service is inconsistent at best. The drinks are always great (the bartenders have a heavy pour). Management staff is only into themselves and girls. One of the even owners had a kid with his wait staff. We went for dinner this evening. Good luck trying to get a seat in the dining room at 5pm on a Saturday - the bar is only available at that time. That aside, the service was decent but the food was just average. Our server neglected to tell us the prices of the specials, and boy were we surprised to see a $60 steak (which was not THAT great) on the bill. Lesson learned for us!
