I have had the giant turkey hut on my list of places to hit in Charlotte since I found out they opened a location here late last year. I first experienced this stuffed turkey leg trend in Dallas a couple of years ago as part of their pop-up. The line we sat in to get turkey legs that morning was more than 2 miles long and took over an hour and a half to get through. So I was pretty stoked when I found out that there was a location here in Charlotte. We visited on a Saturday afternoon around 5 PM And initially passed the location and had to U-turn and go back. Just make sure you keep an eye out for the building as I initially thought it was an auto repair shop, but that is actually a business that shares the same parking lot. When we first pulled up, there was a bit of commotion as there seemed to be a person having a bit of a mental health episode, walking around erratically outside. However, the owner was actually sitting outside and immediately greeted us when we pulled up and welcomed us in. This is a very small location and sparsely decorated on the outside, but did have much better aesthetics in the interior. The menu is very straightforward with several options, including the turkey legs, turkey wings, salmon and chicken entrées. Both owners were very friendly and helpful as I made my decision on what to order and the food was ready in about 10 minutes. The legs are a little on the pricey side at $25 a pop but the portion size is definitely enough for two people. And the quality of the food is outstanding! Well seasoned, super tender, and super flavorful. I would describe this as a perfect blend between Texas soul food and Louisiana Creole. This is the kind of business I like to support because they are clearly focused on delivering great food and they are doing it right in the middle of the community. Go support them! read more

Checking out Jive Turkey Hut and ordered a stuffed Turkey Leg With Stuffed Cajun rice soaked in hot honey sauce (yes I know, the leg wasn't stuffed). I also ordered a side of collard greens The bad: the collard greens were nasty. The turkey meat in the greens was dried out a flavorless. The greens also had a sweet taste to them. (Say no to sugar in greens) The Cajun rice with the hot honey sauce was delicious. I made it better with a sprinkle of pepper. The Turkey lives up to the hype. i ordered from door dash. I cant speak for ambience or atmosphere but we're visiting from out of town. Based off reviews we were excited. We spent $79.09 and they gave us half the food. By the time we got the food from door dash and went to our rooms we noticed it wasnt a complete order. We ordered 2 turkey legs (which were good to taste), and turkey wings (which they only gave us all legs). We ordered 2 mac n cheeses, 2 dirty rices, and yams. AWESOME, DELICIOUSNESS I have been waiting for this restaurant to open for some time . I did an abrupt U- turn just to go there when I realized they were now open. Service with a smile from ALLLL of them. So helpful and welcoming. I got 1 turkey leg, 1 turkey wing and side of collards to go but would have eaten there if not in a rush. I was comfortable while I waited. They have completely redone the inside. It's very nice. They even have a bar!!! It was sooooo good y'all! They just opened up the other day. Great customer service I placed my order and went to the bar to have a beer while I waited and the food was out before I could finish my beer. I had the soul leg but they have a few other items on the menu that I want to try. The food was good the turkey leg didn't fall off the bone but it was good. I've been to the Turkey leg hut in Houston so my review might be a little more harsher than others but it's still a great option for Charlotte. It doesn't look like much on the outside but once you step inside it's A1, very nice job. I'll leave a more detailed review after I visit a few more times. read more

The food is awesome. The customer service is awesome. I got to taste a little bit of everyone's plate and everything was delicious. Do not order a soda because the Cajun seasoning will have your mouth on fire. Make sure you get a water. The devil eggs only came in a three pack, but it was accompanied with three grilled Cajun shrimps. The salmon bites were delicious I can eat buckets of those the owner was very nice. He gave the kids a piece of cake I am full and about to bust we will be back. The ambience is great playing in the background. Adult drinks are available. We shared the Soul Leg; added a side of dirty rice & a turkey wing with blue cheese sauce. Everything we ordered was perfection. Also got a sweet tea- lemony and honey. Collard greens & Mac and cheese are heavenly. Yams could be a dessert. The smoked turkey is moist & delicious - falls right off the bone. Warm & welcoming owner/ staff. Done let the outside fool you - Decor is 70s funk and fun! They also have a bar with liquor. They were out of desserts when we ate there but we wouldn't have had room anyway. Good excuse to return! I am truly at a loss for words. It was absolutely the greatest. I honestly think if they added a lil side of cranberry sauce on the side it would have totally set this dish off . Although the sides were topped upon the turkey leg, each item was full of flavor. The turkey leg meat was smoked and fell off the bone. Let's start with the unprofessional owners of this establishment. The food was very slack and bland. I called and basically was lied too because the manager said we could get the refund when we got there it was a different story. The lady tried to argue with me and fight me where the owner had to hold her back. They wanted to give me a credit which I didn't want because I wouldn't feed a stray dog that food.
