I wanted to like this place. It has all the charm of a beach-town kitchen, but the food was painfully forgettable and the service sub-par. Everyone asked for water- I can't tell you how many times the waitress stopped by our table to tell us the water is coming. Eventually I just had to wonder, from where? Ridiculous- I was only asked if I wanted a refill on coffee once- and it seemed like it annoyed them when I said yes. My dad was given salsa instead of raspberry vinaigrette dressing for his salad. No big deal; just change it, right? The waitress went on for 10 minutes stopping and asking everyone there "who put the salsa where the raspberry vinaigrette is supposed to be!?" As a Point resident, I have eaten here many times over the past 5 years. This past Sunday was the last! It is an adorable little "coffee shop" with outside seating, period. I ordered the "Super Sampler" (2 pancakes, 2 eggs, turkey sausage, home fries + toast) Easy right? Pancakes came out first, big tasteless rubbery brown disks on a plate. Then the eggs (poached) "runny", sausage ice cold. Instead of just replacing the sausage with hot ones, the waitress took my plate back to the kitchen where it sat under the heat lamps which produced 'HARD BOILED EGGS" LOL. OK plate, back to the kitchen with you. This time, sausage was hot, eggs "runny" again, toast+potatoes ice cold! But the absolute worst was watching a waitress pour the remainder of a regular pot of coffee into a DECAF pot of coffee. C'mon people, who is running the show over there? Have been going to Jo Jo's since it opened. The Silver Dollar pancakes are good but that's about it. A small glass of orange juice is the tiniest drink I've ever seen. It's also way too over priced for something I saw them shaking in the carton two seconds before they brought it to me. The service is probably the worst I've ever experienced. It has gotten worse as the years have gone on. The wait staff is some-what attentive but very rude and disgusting. I saw one waitress pick food off the floor with her bare hands, throw it across the counter to the garbage, then using the same hand, pick up someone's order. Gross! We tried JoJo Apple's for Sunday brunch and were very disappointed. Although busy, we only waited about 10 - 15 minutes for a table and they accommodated us outside. To me, they violated a cardinal rule of restaurant service; they failed to check back after dropping our food. If they had I would have told them the egg dish was cold and they forgot the toast. We waited at least 10 minutes to be greeted after we were seated and it took 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee. I was hungry so I asked for the yogurt parfait before my meal. They waitress told me not order it as it was "lousy". I ordered the oatmeal instead. I had to ask for my oatmeal twice. To be fair, the lemon ricotta pancakes were very good. Getting coffee refills was a struggle and though their was a small waiters' station nearby, the coffee warmer was empty and unplugged. I would suggest they make use of that station. We will try them again when they are not too busy. It is a shame because they could improve a few things to become a really awesome brunch location. This area needs one. My suggestions: 1. Train the waiters to always check back. 2. Make better use of bussers or add bussing staff to back up service with coffee refills and help run food. 3. Have an expeditor to monitor food quality and assure HOT food is going out and the order is complete. 4. Provide free coffee for guests waiting to be seated. 5. Small Diner. Nothing to brag about. The food was just OKAY. The service was good until someone at my table got salsa instead of Raspberry vinagrette. Thankfully, the person did not put the salsa on their food so all was okay. But our server could not let it go. She was going on and on and on about this mix up, it was very odd. I noticed A LOT of bugs on the floor and the ceiling. That always turns me off. I think the place could be a bit cleaner, obviously. They don't take AMEX but they do take visa or mastercard. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!! First experience here and it seems like they went out of their way to make it a miserable one. Took forever to get seated and when we finally did they made a new table for us right next to the kitchen- specifically in the way of the other servers. Was disappointed mostly because what I wanted to order was sold out, and so were my next 2 choices, and it was only noon on Sunday brunch? My 4th choice ended up being decent but others at my table were disappointed with their meals. Our waitress was pretty flustered too, forgot a bunch of our stuff throughout the meal. SAVE YOUR MONEY. I went there this past Sunday on my first visit to Long Beach in over 7 years. I wanted a relaxing breakfast and what I got was a headache from aggravation. They have HORRIBLE service there. The waitress was barking orders at us to look at the menu if we wanted specifics because she didn't have anything memorized. She would walk away as we were still placing our order, and even worse, they threw the menus down at our table when we got there. I reached a breaking point when I went up to pay $30 for two coffees, two O.J.s a pancake and a frittata ( can you say rip off!) and the cashier threw away my ticket because she was doing 5 things at once. When she actually took the time to acknowledge me again, she asked me for the ticket that I had already given her. I told her that she threw it away and then proceeded to pull whichever ticket she wanted and tried to charge me $47. Ridiculous. She then proceeded to get the manager and the waitress who were both discontent at the fact that I was holding up the line. Absolutely the worst breakfast place I have ever been to. The food was bland, but the service had me thinking I was on candid camera. Too bad it didn't happen. I cannot believe that people give this place anything higher than 1 star. read more

This is a place we have been wanting to try for quite a while, but the parking lot is often full, and driving from New Jersey, there really aren't a lot of parking options in the area. Therefore, we went really early this past weekend and we are happy we did. We sat outside and the light breeze made it a lovely setting. Our server quickly set us up with Coffee and Bloody Marys, and we were ecstatic when she deliver our English Breakfast, which was filling and yummy, as well as some Whole-Wheat Pancakes that were uber flavorful with a side of Eggs, just the right amount. Tried this place for the first time over the weekend, despite living in the area for years now. Overall, they serve a great breakfast. Wait time was about 15 minutes on a Sunday at 11am, which isn't bad considering this place is pretty small. Wifey had a steak eggs Benedict, which was the traditional dish with tender (skirt?) steak replacing the Canadian bacon. It was good, but the flavor of Canadian bacon compliments the dish better than steak does. It was served with "pinot noir hollandaise sauce" which was actually rather bland. A hearty, filling breakfast, but lacking something in the flavor department. I had bacon, eggs, and lemon ricotta pancakes. Pancakes were super thin, almost more of a crepe consistency, but they were absolutely delicious. Served with a sweet berry compote that compliments them perfectly. Would totally go back to JoJo's to have these again. We sat right by the kitchen, and could see/hear servers apparently were having a stressful morning. They were all frazzled and worked up and aggravated. The place only seats like maybe 40 people...hard to believe they were having such a hard time with a small breakfast crowd. I've been going to Jo Jo Apples on and off since it first opened. I have to say that the quality of the food and menu selection have improved greatly over the past couple of years. The breakfast menu and specials are good and priced just slightly higher then a diner. I recently had the "Southwest Scramble" served with avocado, sour cream and salsa as well as home fries and toast, The portion was big and It was very flavorful. Three to four Dinner specials change every night and is a good value compared to some of the other restaurants in the area. The service is hit and miss. Sometimes I get one of the waitresses that is friendly and efficient and sometimes I get the one that is not as friendly and not so efficient. I had a South Western Steak salad, and my friend had salmon. We shared the crab cakes. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was good. I really liked that they had there own parking lot! so, this was my second time here, and i gotta say, it was as good as i remember. this place is an overall package place, the location is nice, quaint, and if its a nice day, sitting outside is awesome. this is not the best ever place for breakfast/lunch, but it is easily worth a trip. this time i went with a friend of mine, i ordered Lorraines Omlette, (swiss, onions and bacon), and my friend ordered her staple, 2 eggs over medium, sausage and homefries. my omlette was very, very good, her eggs were very very good as well, the sausage was a patty, wanted links, oh well, not that big of a deal, and the home fries were a mixed bag, some of them were cooked perfectly, some of them were eh, but what can you expect, most placed just have the pile, warm em quick, and serve. i wont really deduct too much for that. the best part, , for the two of us, it was less then $16, not each, total. to me, thats one hell of a deal. parking is sometimes weird, there is a dirt parking lot with no lines, so good luck, and this is a very 'local' place, so you'll see a line of bicycles outside, as well as 4 person electric carts in the street outside and the lot. in the area, go, even if your not, i think its worth a try. read more

Nice small little diner in the small town of Point Lookout. I came here for breakfast and had the eggs Benedict which was ok. What made this place memorable is the homey atmosphere and good service. Recently went here for a late breakfast. It was a rainy day so we did not want to sit outside but they have nice outdoor seating. Ample parking as there is a parking lot. I ordered the Spicy corn Frittata and my wife had the Blueberry pancakes. I did not taste any corn in the Frittata and it was not a scrambled egg but instead an egg pancake covered with melted cheese and diced jalapeños. It was tasty but not what I really expected. Home fries were average as well. Nothing special. The pancakes were tasty and thin. They were better than the Frittata. I should have ordered the pancakes. The service was very good with multiple refills of coffee and we were able to sit without being rushed. Prices are reasonable. Will most likely return. If the frittata was better would have given 4 stars. Nice place! read more

Unfortunately this restaurant doesn't provide the best of foods. I had ordered the Eggs Chesapeake, the crab wasn't cooked properly, the poached egg was a hard boiled egg. I read a good review in Newsday long ago and wanted to try but never got there until yesterday. We were impressed and well satisfied. I read some of the other weak reviews and i could see how, if the place is busy, the experience might diminish. We went 1:45 on Sunday and that seemed to be fine. The waitress was friendly, attentive, knew the menu well and offered helpful suggestions. We each had frittatas. Good ingredients, well prepared, delicious and plentiful servings. Can not say enough about the service and Donna our server at Jo Jo Apples . We were 8 women celebrating a birthday . We wanted outside and unfortunately there would have been a very long wait . Donna said she would do her best and best she did ! She opened an area of the patio that was closed and put 2 tables together for us. My wife and I's favorite place to go for breakfast. Not sure what the bad reviews are about but we have been here many times and never had a bad experience. The place is always packed but well worth the wait. Today I had the Caprese eggs benedict. It's a poached egg on ciabatta bread with fresh basil, spinach, mozzarella and a sweet tomato sauce. It was excellent. It also comes with home fries, which in most restaurants I never eat but they are cooked crispy and we'll seasoned and I finished them all. My wife ordered the apple stuffed french toast which is delicious. We have ordered this dish several times before and it is always good. In the past we have also ordered the seafood crepes, whole wheat pancakes, farmers frittata and several types of omelets and never had a bad meal. The bacon is crispy and the Canadian bacon is good as well. The service isn't the friendliest but they aren't rude. They are just very busy and do things very fast. We returned to Long Island for a family reunion weekend, and stopped in Long Beach to show our 37 year old son where we lived our first year of married life. After a hot walk along the Boardwalk, we needed to quench our thirst and satisfy our hunger. I had not enjoyed a plate of steamers in so many years, and was so looking forward to them. Jo Jo did not disappoint me. They were fresh and delicious, served with broth and butter just like I remembered. My wife ordered the Mediterranean Wrap, my son had the Reuben.
