Pizza comes in so many different styles that it almost needs multiple categories. So I typically don't judge a pizza place by the variety of toppings it offers unless they're of an uncommon quality, and instead focus on the basics -- sauce, cheese, and crust. To love Jockamo's pizza, you have to like a certain type of crust, the cracker-like crispy crust of a St. Louis style pizza. No yeast, so the dough doesn't rise and get fluffy. This is not the type of crust I like -- I like a Detroit-style pan crust -- and so I'll take that star with me. But I'm not everyone, and if you can get past the crust or if it's your style, everything else is top of the line. The sauce selection is wide and always excellent, the rest of the menu from salads to drinks is solid, and the vibe is that perfect family-style pizza place that's harder to find in 2023 than it was a couple of decades ago. A complete joke. The pizzeria place Should be jokeramo. Ordered two pies of pizza and they're just cheese pizza. They cannot go wrong. But the flavor just is bland. The service is okay. Wanted to jump on here and review the Jockamo pizza purchased as take out at the Otis Ave, Lawrence location. First and most importantly I want to say how knowledgeable and informative that IZZY was at answering the many questions that I had about their pizzas. My wife and I had never eaten one on their pizzas before but had heard on the "monkey vine" that they were really good. Due to her helpfulness I was able to order a pizza that my wife and I really loved. It was loaded with toppings and full of flavor. I live in Greenwood, and we don't have a lot of great places to eat, so we WANTED to like this pizza so much, but we don't. The crust is too thick and it's utterly tasteless. The sauce is too oniony and too watery. Just not a fan. So disappointing--I miss good pizza! read more

Whenever I go to Jockamo's or order their pizza I always expect something delightful and fulfilling! Their lunch specials are indeed a good deal with a slice of pizza, 2 breadsticks and a drink for not much. However if for some reason you want to order something a little bit more extravagant it can be regular prices so the lunch deal isn't as great if you have dietary restrictions. Our server was really attentive and helpful which is in the middle of a lunch rush is kind of a blessing. My coworker had a regular slice of pepperoni with two breads drinks and some tea. She said it was good but didn't finish her bread Stracks she said it was good but didn't finish her breadsticks... so make of that what you well. I ordered the SoCal small pizza which was six slices with vegetables and goat cheese. It was very tasty and I was able to bring half of it home. I really like going there and feel like they have great options but I'm giving them a four-star simply because there's no inexpensive option for those with dietary restrictions. Their pizza is wonderful and the environment is very open and friendly with plenty of seating so if you have time for lunch and I looking for pizza I would highly recommend this spot. read more

I've never had a complaint about this place! It's perfectly meshed with the Irvington area. Very textured and cute. The parking is on the street, so a busy day might be a hassle, but we got lucky to park right outside the front door. When you walk in you're greeted by the hosts and they're pretty accommodating, very clear and to the point cause they got pizzas to make and people to serve! Which I don't mind. The main Dine in area is on the right when you walk in for more of sit down and eat with a group. Booths and tables alike. The bar area is on the other side to your left. It's a nice balance! We sat near the bar area because it's was a nice view of the rare pretty day in Winter in Indy lol! Our waitress was super attentive and nice! Definitely checked on us at the right times and very mindful of possible needs. They're menu has a good variety of selections of their special pizzas. But if you get overwhelmed or have dietary restrictions, I'd suggest you make your own! But they do have a lot of special pizzas that you can adjust as well. Me and my gf got the 10" which are about 6 slices, so it's perfect for a solo grub. And even can be a shareable depending on your appetite. Their crust is nice & crispy at the bottom, which I enjoy. And the ratios of toppings are pretty perfect. I also tried a Mango Spritzer drink that the lovely waitress suggested and it was light and fruity. Loved it. I've heard so much about Jockamo's and finally got the opportunity to taste at a Yelp Event in Irvington a couple months ago. I was hooked! I kept going back for more slices every time they brought some out. With that being said. I was disappointed to know that they are only in like 3 locations all that are not close to where I live. YALL NEED TO OPEN A LOCATION SOMEWHERE ON THE NORTH SIDE!!! Ok now that I got that out of the way, I recently was close to the Irvington area so I decided to head over to them to grab dinner. Inside was very spacious and quite packed for a Thursday evening. I decided to order my pie to-go and was assisted quickly. About 15 minutes later my 16in Slaughterhouse five was ready and smelled delicious. That 25 min drive home was grueling because I was soo hungry. Immediately after taking that first bite, I was reminded why I fell in love with this at the Yelp Event. It was soo good. There's 5 different meats: pepperoni, ham, sausage, bacon & sliced steak. Jockamos is my favorite specialty pizza shop in Indianapolis! Their classic pizzas are amazing as well, but I'd recommend at least going half and half and trying one of the specialty options! My two favorites are the Thai chicken and the chicken broccoli Alfredo! They also have amazing breadsticks and multiple locations around the area! This location in Irvington is a fantastic neighborhood spot right next to a great brewery called black acre. They also offer breakfast pizzas which I unfortunately haven't tried but have heard great things about! The star of the pizzas are the fresh and plentiful toppings. The crust supports the generous portions of toppings and sauce, beautifully. I usually prefer a NY style crust, but Jockamos uses something stronger. I still enjoyed it, though. I have only ever eaten it as takeout, so I can't really speak to the ambiance or service. I'm kinda in the fence about the pizza. I've been to Jockamo before (a while ago)but I remember the pizza being better. We had Half pepperoni and half Thai chicken. Now when I think of Thai, I think spice. The peanut sauce on the Thai chicken was ok. I would've liked it to have a kick. The pizza sauce was also very mild. So it was ok. I did not have the pepperoni side because I don't eat pork so I couldn't tell you how it was. I will visit again but not in rush. read more

Of all the pizza places I have been to in Indianapolis, Jockamo's is by far the best pizza I have had to date. The variety of pizzas they offer are amazing!! The slaughter house five pizza is a true meat lover's delight! The lasagna pizza is terrific! The Thai pizza is also delicious along with the creole shrimp pizza. Their breadsticks are OK. The upper crust on the pizza is what I enjoy the most because I do like thick crust on my pizza. The service I received was excellent! The waitress was on top of things and took very good care of our group. Jockamo's is a great hang out place with friends and I especially like to come here for dinner after visiting black acre garden. That was the worst Caesar salad I have ever had in my life. I hesitate to call it food. Flabby, wilted Romaine lettuce (brown on the cut edges), stale croutons, grated parmesan that must have been sitting out for hours, and a grey-brown, sticky, super-garlicky paste on the side they call dressing. Caesar dressing is supposed to be white, creamy, and made with fresh egg, mustard, parmesan, and a bit of anchovy. I drove 70 miles to meet friends here for supper. On the way home I had to stop at a gasoline station and buy antacid tablets. Three hours after eating, I feel sick, and the garlic is keeping me awake. Today was our first visit. Parking was a bear as the strip mall is popular and parking lot tiny but we found one. We were seated promptly. The dining room is not fancy. The walls are decorated with local art. Our server was friendly and brought us water out quickly. We ordered a hummus plate to share, small salads and a large Creole pizza. Our server highly recommended adding Gouda to the pizza so we did. The hummus plate and salads came out quickly. We tried the seasonal watermelon salad which had balsamic vinegar drizzle de over the top and feta and basil sprinkled around. The salad was very refreshing. I also tried the Creole cole slaw which was creamy with a tangy blend of Cajun spices for only $2. I highly recommend. The hummus plate had a nice array of chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, and red onions to compliment the hummus olives and pita bread. The pizza came out quickly. The toppings were generous and the Gouda cheese bubbly. I couldn't wait to dig in. The pizza had a wonderful doughy crust with a wood fire flavor. This pizza (around $20) had etouffee sauce with crawfish and andouille sausage. I confess I went back for fourths it was so tasty. There was enough to easily feed six people. So let me start off by saying I have been a loyal customer since Jockomoes opened in Lawrence. I have consistently ordered the same pizza for years. Lazy Boy xtra cheese, xtra pepporoni. Other than the occasional burnt crust My husband and I have been very satisfied. I recently placed a order for my usual. Man normally the toppings are piled high and you can see the extra Pepperoni . Not this time. The only toppings were in the center, surrounding slices flat as a pancake. For $38 bucks I am done! No more I will frequent their competitor whom gets it right! If you like 'Indiana Crust' and a wide variety of fresh ingredients, you will LOVE this place. The 'Indiana Crust' is thin and crispy like a cracker. It is not my preference, as I prefer a NY style crust, but I still enjoy it immensely. There is a parking lot behind the building but it was full so parked on the street, not a big deal. Ordered a large 1/2 Maui and 1/2 Lasagne. Placing my order was a bit slower than normal because a trainee was being trained by an experienced staffer. Both were pleasant and we got the job done. My pizza was ready in 20-25 minutes...not bad for a busy early Friday evening. Since I live on the other side of town my pizza was not super hot but reheated nicely in the oven. I was super hungry so failed to take a picture of my pie. Thankfully the restaurant that I started out at (and was a big fail) was just down the street from one of Indy's great pizza joints. A classic for a reason. Amazing Irvington vibe, and some of the best pizza you'll ever have. Great beer selection, too. Tips: because pizza is SERIOUS BUSINESS. Go with a specialty pizza. Basic pepperoni is okay, but not their strong suit, and you'll miss out on what makes them an absolute legend. Get yourself a half-and-half Slaughterhouse Five and Cheese Louise. Sample the more outside the box stuff too, like the Indian pizza. Dine in is best. The fresher the better. That half-life on Jockamos is fairly short, and once it goes cold, the quality drops off fast. For pick-up/delivery, put it in the oven at low heat when you get home, until you're ready to put the leftovers in the fridge. They reheat nicely the next day. read more

Such a hiddden gem among the east side of Indy. The staff here is incredibly friendly and will always greet you with a smile. The pizza though, is a whole other level. Personally my favorite would be the cheese Louise pizza (but with no bacon or onions). You also have to get the breadsticks with nacho cheese and Parmesan cheese to dip them in though! Parking is a little tight though. They have a lot behind them as well as street parking, but those spots fill up quickly on Friday's and Saturday's. I've been here a few times and the service is always great! They were super busy (6:30pm on a Friday) and we had a 35 minute wait for a party of 12. However, by 7:30 the place was pretty empty. So if you plan around busy times, you likely won't have a wait. They have some outdoor seating in the warmer months. They have a bar area, but only serve beer and wine. I feel like the pizza was better in the past, but it was still good! Prices are fair too, I paid about $10 for a 10 inch pizza, with six slices. I was unable to finish it alone. Well I thought my pizza ingredients were fresh and tasty, the salad ingredients didn't look quite as fresh, the lettuce specifically. If you're going here, I suggest a sandwich or pizza, not a salad!
