We came in to get seafood boils, which were pretty good (note if you're Southern -- def ask for extra Old Bay), and we were served by Jordan. He was great and super attentive, and when we had asked for extra seasoning he went ahead and got our food re-seasoned and brought it straight back out. It was definitely busy, but it was a Saturday night so we definitely expected that. Another server, Brody, who was training another server, was serving the tables next to us, and was also phenomenal. Note to anybody who comes during a busy time: these servers and hostesses handle the pressure EXTREMELY well, but they are human beings! Even when being treated abhorrently, servers around us were very friendly and patient. Definitely recommend!! read more

So my fiancé and I went to Joe's Crab Shack for the first time since we stayed here in o'side for the weekend and we both had the best time ever and the snow crab boiler was outstanding! It definitely exceeded my expectations! The place is so aquatic and I loved it! The servers and staff were friendly and always had a smile on their face. It was about a 35 minute wait on a Saturday night, so not too terrible for a party of 2. The noise level was medium. Not so loud that you can't have a conversation, but you definitely had to talk a bit louder for the other person to hear you. The menu is pretty big, so my fiancé and I looked at the menu all day yesterday to figure out what we wanted lol. Definitely recommend it if you want some fresh delicious seafood! read more

They said our wait would be 30 minutes. 1 hour later we were seated. Mind you it was not that busy( as I've been here before) the servers made us feel like we were an inconvenience. I got the shrimp Alfredo. Alfredo was not good. The best part of it was the garlic bread on the side. Waited 45 minutes for our food and the server didn't care to give us a refill. Waste of time and money. The best part is the view on the outside. I have been here 3 times because I wanted to give them chances. Learned my lesson!!! read more

Joe's Crab Shack has been a local staple here in Oceanside for a very long time now. It's one of the first places I enjoyed eating when I first visited here over 6 years ago. Joe's Crab Shack is located in the Oceanside Harbor and it is definitely a tourist-driven restaurant. I'm not surprised because it is also a chain that is popular in California. This harbor location has a dining section that is upstairs on the second floor, with an iconic view overlooking the harbor itself. You can get a pleasurable view of the boats, people walking, birds and even seals swimming. After catching a gorgeous sunset, you can even enjoy the nightlife with all of the beautiful lights of the harbor. It's truly memorable. I also appreciate that the seating area is spacious and great for groups & families, but couples can also find a corner to be more intimate or sports fans can sit near the bar area. In addition, the entire area is enclosed in glass, so you get the views, but it's climate-controlled and you also don't have to deal with insects Their menu is extensive and there's something for everyone, but this place is DEFINITELY designed for seafood lovers. They also have gluten-free options and they even have burgers, pizza, tenders & pasta on their kids menu. The prices are fairly reasonable as well. I really love their Crab & Shrimp Nachos and Joe's Classic Sampler is great to try a little of everything. Many love their crab legs and seafood boils and some of their adult drinks are crazy entertaining (flashy lights & shark-sight projections). Service is excellent, even when crowded and I love that they help to celebrate special moments like birthdays & anniversaries with a personalized cheer & chant-request from the tables. It's fun to watch! All in all, I still like it at Joe's Crab Shack. I've heard that Joe's Crab Shacks have been closing down due to our economy. But I truly hope that our gem stays opened, because even though it's mostly touristy, it's still a place that has been opened for a long time and is part of the "character" of the Oceanside Harbor. read more

Maria our waitress was nice but I wasn't real happy when I asked if the serving size of the bowl of soup my friend ordered was always that small and she said yes, that's why you should have gotten the cup of soup because it's about the same amount...that should have been said when we were ordering not after it's too late. There has been a decade since last time we have eaten at JCS in Oceanside, CA. The food and the service were very disappointing. The ambiance and the music selection were pretty good. Pros The cheeseburger and fries were pretty tasty. It was served with jasmine rice, instead of French fries. A side order of fries was served to correct the mistake made by the server. The Caribbean Cooler frosted projector the drink and glass is a great novelty projects an image at the bottom. Cons The Captain's Calamari was over-fried and no flavor at all. The shrimp and fish entree it was the most saddening plate I have ever seen served in a restaurant. The plate was served with two (2) fish pieces (it reminded me Gordon's Crunchy Breaded Fish Frozen fillet - the fillet were smaller than Gordon fillet) and six (6) shrimp. The side orders were jasmine rice (steam rice no seasoning at all) and coleslaw. The Coleslaw side order it was a joke three (3) oz. served in a tiny black container, El Pollo Loco Creamy Cilantro Dressing container is bigger than the Coleslaw side order. The service was slow and the server did not made an effort to refill the drinks. On a Monday, lunch time it was practically an empty place. We will not return to this restaurant. Big disappointment, for the overall service and food is not worth $79.81, but you be the judge if you ever eat there. read more

Great view from our window side table. Our server, Katie, was wonderful and made sure we were taken care of. We were brought out the wrong crab plate and they gladly left it for us to eat as to not waste it. We got our correct plate 10 minutes later but I'm sure not complaining on the complimentary platter. We picked the garlic sauce but it was a bit salty, we would get steamed next time. The crab stuffed mushroom was mostly filler but was good. I barely ate my shrimp plate due to the extra crabs. The shrimp was plentiful and definitely worth it for $20. Overall a great night for crabs! read more

I came here once when they first opened and wasn't impressed with the food. However this time I got a slice of keylime pie which was great and a shrimp po boy sandwich (bigger than my hand). It could have used a little more seasoning in the batter but it was nothing a lil hot sauce couldn't fix. For $16.99, it was pretty hearty and it came with fries. I added a drink and since it was my birthday they gave me a souvenir cup to go . Manager Mike was gracious and so was the new waitress (sorry I can't remember your name but you were also great keep up the good work). I'll be back to try more food. The kids would love all the fun stuff and if you are a kid at heart you'll like it too. The shirts are hilarious. If you are visiting, there are some great things to take back home. Zach! First off let me say the service from Zach was over the top, super friendly and knowledgeable guy. He made one of the best Micheladas we have ever had and I am a michelada snob, his was definitely in top 5 I've ever had. He needs to show that recipe to the whole bartender staff and it should be their go to recipe restaurant wide. They have a great happy hour as well from 3-6. The kids loved their burgers and mac n cheese. I had the joes classic boil and was very satisfied with it. The ambiance was great as well as the restaurant over looks the harbor, was saw some seals swimming and playing so the kids really enjoyed that.
