Honestly, I absolutely love going to Joe's grill. Joe's grill is located near the airport and below the H-1 right before Kalihi. The restaurant inside is really small, maybe able to seat 8 people at a time (Last time I went) so I always order takeout. Since Joe's is near the airport, I always go there if I'm going to plane watch on lagoon drive. The workers are friendly and their food is amazing. Joe's gives the best value breakfast/brunch place in this area. Its located near the airport and is open early. They are closed on sundays though. It's a hole in the wall on the same strip as Ba-le, Aloha Sushi. They have a few tables but we usually order for take-out like most people do. We have realized that you can even call in your order ahead so it will be ready by the time you get there. Anyway, the best thing about Joe's is the flavorful local food at affordable prices. Everything we had was less than $10. They give you a lot of food that I can never finish. I usually order the Soecial Loco Moco with special beef patty, spam, 2 eggs, mac salad and a mountain of rice. Hubby has tried Joe's Loco Moco and the Biscuit and Gravy. My son has the katsu lunch plate. The only order I wasnt happy with was the steak and eggs with longganisa. The longganisa was just 1 piece sliced in half and the steak, some of the pieces were tough. So for that visit, it would have been a 3 star. I have ordered the Loco Moco here with spam and mac salad. My gosh it took me back to the pre-pandemic levels on how tasty and how "melt in your mouth" a loco moco really is. I have been here several times before, but since my Co-worker has never been here, I figured that it would be a good place to eat. The food here is very good and the prices in my opinion are very reasonable since this place prides itself on serving a "gourmet" plate lunch experience. They did not have the short rib soup today so we ate the steak and shrimp plate with fresh mushrooms & onions. It was very tasty and filling, plus it got two thumbs up from my CO-worker who would not mind coming back to try other things, as there is stir fried poke, breakfast all day, and something from every major food group that will satisfy a diverse customer base. What I'm saying is unless you go looking for it you're not really gonna find it, the food that I've tasted so far has both brought me back home and interested me in all kinds of different ways. The rest of the family had the spicy chicken katsu and ube french toast with bacon and eggs to order. There were many desserts to chose from, but I picked the butter mochi. I kid you not I thought about it the whole trip, so much I bought more on our way back home. I can not stress how how much of a hidden gem this place is. I love the extended chinese and filipino menu. First time here. DEF was not a fan at all. One u go in, the location is a bit on the smaller side with little amount of tables and chairs. Pretty upset at the menu, it was very messy. It was a black board and everything written in COLORED CHALK! It was all over the place. I wanted a ice cold beverage and here machine is very updated BUT it was out of order. Got the joe moco. Note it doesn't have spam if you are expecting that. It was my first loco moco and it does feel very homey. The corned beef hash makes it pretty easy to cut through with a fork.
