If I were you, I would eat here. I am on a Quesabirria quest, which I just kind of figured out I am. They were delicious. The consume was solid. But the tacos were completely, totally yum. Hundred percent recommend. My husband had the carne asada tacos. He said they were great. But later he ate one of my leftovers (I don't eat a lot), and he said they were superior. We stopped here for a snack before going on our walking venture. We had the entire space to ourselves - always nice when you can fully have conversation and enjoy a meal. The menu is pretty typical: taco, enchiladas, and chile rellenos; menudo / pozole on the weekends. If the red salsa is an indicator for the menudo broth, I think the menudo is likely really good. (I didn't get to try any though - it was a weekday). My tacos however were tiny but mighty!! Packed with authentic flavor, the meats were fall off the bone tender. It was clear that time was taken in the preparation. And the rice?? So good!! It tasted like your friends mom made it from scratch in a steamy, aroma filled kitchen. I've been to a good number of the breakfast spots in and around downtown Paso Robles, they're usually pretty good, but not places I'm dying to go back to. Los Robles Café is one of the few that I absolutely want to come back to again! Like a lot of the breakfast places in town, this no-frills Café serves up hearty portions, perfect before a long day of wine tasting. We ordered the Chilaquiles verde supreme (special) and a breakfast burrito with chorizo. Both items were great, with the Chilaquiles verde supreme taking the slight edge as the favorite. Both salsas were very flavorful, and also served as a hearty portion. The menu was pretty expansive and had a nice variety of classic breakfast and Mexican breakfast options. Will definitely be back here on another trip to Paso soon. read more

The woman that greeted us and served us was really nice and attentive. I ordered Heuvos Rancheros, and my friend ordered Chiaqielles. We both felt the food was okay. I expected refried beans on my plate but I admit I didn't read the description on the menu, and I was disappointed. The hash browns weren't hash browns. I was looking for a decent breakfast place for my last meal in Paso this trip and after having gone through the top 5 already decided that Los Robles might be worth a shot, it was walking distance and had a decent rating and dog friendly. It seemed like it was more of a local spot than one for tourist-on a pretty quiet part of the street but I took that as a good sign. They had a large outdoor seating area-which explained their dog friendly tag. That was about it for positives. The restaurant was dead, and service was tepid, at best. Despite being the only ones there our server was super hands off. I thought she wanted to give us some privacy but another group came in and got the similar brusque treatment; maybe it was just a place for locals. I got their breakfast burrito with chorizo, definitely not local pricing either and while it was pretty large, just not satisfying. There wasn't any character to it-which is weird considering that one of the reasons I love breakfast food was that no matter how hard you mess it up eggs and meats with potatoes and cheese has some oomph. Get a little more complicated with an enchilada breakfast and they're still less expensive than their competitors. It was 9.30 am Wednesday morning & we were driving from Carmel back to San Diego. While my husband was behind the wheel, I was given a very important task of finding a place around Paso Robles that would serve a "real" burrito. My husband loves Mexican food and according to him, he hasn't been able to get a decent mission style burrito since we moved from the Bay Area to San Diego. Sounds crazy to me, considering San Diego is known for great Mexican food, however he grew up on Gordos (Bay Area Restaurant) & has certain expectations. Armed with just my phone I went to work.... There were very few places that I was able to find open at that time & conveniently located to the freeway. Even if they were open, they only served breakfast. He made it clear that he did not want breakfast.... oh boy. I took a chance on Los Robles. Good reviews, family owned & even though they were only serving breakfast, I figured if I asked them very nicely they might be able to accommodate my picky toddler, oops I mean hubby. I am happy to report that my mission was accomplished! We found parking right upfront. A very nice woman, who I believe is the owner, had us sit down & gave us the menus. This place caught my eye a few months back and I wanted to try it out. My husband had pancakes sausage and eggs I think hashbrowns. We had dinner here, and I'm not kidding -- it was heated up food which had been made earlier in the day, or possibly the day before. The food was served at room temperature, on a cold plate. The portions were small and not very appetizing. It was the most plain, cheaply cooked Mexican food I'd ever had. The food at Taco Bell is tastier. But wait, there's more: it's EXPENSIVE! This is a $25+ per person restaurant!
