Went to Johns on Labir Day for Lunch. Staff was friendly and very attentive. We ordered margaritas and lobster rolls ( mine on lettuce wrap) food came out fast and the portion was enormous. The lobster roll was loaded with big chucks of lobster and the fries were hot and crispy. Great experience! read more

John Scott's has something to offer everyone, they offer great lunch and dinner options from seafood to steak to vegetarian. Both inside and outside seating depending what you feeling, the outside seating overlooks a great view of the Moriches Bay. Monday nights they have a great wing night, 20 cent wings and they are great, just get there early. They offer live music outside and is a family friendly atmosphere. DO NOT go there for wing night on Monday night. We came for a company night out of 10 people and were all ordering drinks, wings apps and entrees. 45 minute wait to get a parking spot. The waitress was EXTREMELY rude to EACH one of us. I asked for paper towels and she shot us the dirtiest look. Whenever we said thank you she did not even respond. She was very pushy and was giving an attitude when we took more than a minute to order a drink after just sitting down. It was unreal. THEN they asked us to leave and half of us were not even finished with our drinks. We were no a rowdy crowd by all means, just a company night out for dinner and a few drinks. Very busy place, we had to wait in line on the road in our car to get in. This is a cool local place with an island feel. It happened to be WING Monday and wings were only $.10 each. We also ordered calamari, fries, and a lobsters role. The desserts were nothing fancy, but very good. read more

What a little gem. Good drinks, we only had appetizers but they were delicious. Your own bowl of peel and eat fresh shrimp, fresh mozzarella tomato and basil kabobs and Miami vice's. All excellent. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The outside has a small view of the water which was beautiful your right near the beach and it's cheaper and much better quality then the Beach Hut that's at the beach. Friendly service and not bad on your pocket especially for the Hamptons. It's not a huge place on the smaller side. Bartender and servers and even the clientele were so nice and friendly. Great place to come on a monday night in the summer! LOCATION: On dune road towards cupsogue beach, inbetween all of the giant summer homes. DECOR: Very tiny place, most of it is outdoors. The inside is small and cramped with a bar and a few booth tables for eating. The outside is cute, lots of picnic tables with umbrellas sheilding you from the sun. Bathrooms are kind of gross. FOOD/DRINK: Food wise I have only ordered the 10 cent buffalo wings, fries, and a ceaser salad. All of which were very satisfactory. Good size portions, especialy with the wings being that you can order up to 40 at a time with the 10 cent special on monday nights. The salad was about 8$ without chicken, 14$ with (pretty pricey but its westhampton so its what you expect). I've seen waitresses bringing out alot of lobster rolls and seafood though, which look always look delicious. Again its a bit pricey for those, especially when you get into lobster dishes. DRINK: The fisbowls are great! 25$ but well worth it. I usually share it with about 3 other people and about 2 of the fish bowls will get us all feeling prettyyy good so that means their definitely pretty strong (especially compared to the fish bowls at that Canz restaraunt if you've ever been there- those arent strong at all compared to john scotts!). SERVICE: Pretty average, friendly waitresses. It annoyed me that I couldn't take home leftover 10 cent wings but I guess thats because its part of a special. I do however really like how they always have live music outdoors. Usually just someone singing with a guitar, nothing crazy. but still nice. read more

I went to John Scott's surf shack, I've been here many times over the years and always have loved it there and expressed that to friends and family of mine. I went there today for dinner and was extremely upset with my experience. I was sat down to eat, ate and enjoyed my meal. Soon after the food was served, the waitress asked if we needed anything else. We said we would order two more drinks and get the bill but would obviously like to finish our drinks before going. She said "that's fine please take your time." We got our second drinks and a few minutes later the waitress came up saying "we have a wait time now, you can move to the benches over there" meanwhile I'm still eating and there were other people on that specific bench at the time.... I said okay and she walked away. I continued to eat and finish my drink. Within that time I was approached yet again by the hostess this time asking me to move. I told her I was still eating and she said oh okay. Within another 7 minutes the manager had walked over and asked us again to move from the table or leave. Listen, I understand the business aspect and the "tip" aspect for the waitress, but I am actually appalled that while I (paid) and am still eating and drinking at a table in a restaurant establishment, that I am asked to leave simply because I am not moving fast enough for them. If you want to go to a joint that gives you the bare minimum, I have found the place! Staff is extremely aloof and arrogant. My guess is when they train their employees they specifically tell them to avoid eye contact. It took us 15 minutes to get a coke and they were at 25% capacity. The appetizers took 45 minutes. This is on a Monday afternoon at 2:00. The waitress is in my top ten worst waitresses. Food was mediocre at best. Its a shame that they are the only game in town. The manager came over in his dirty under shirt and asked me if everything was "ok?" And I said "Is anything ok?" I threw down some cash and left. In retrospect I should have never tipped the waitress the 20%, but I guess I have empathy. read more

Location is A ++. Food is pretty good too. Amazing sunsets over the bay make for a relaxing atmosphere.Touristy to the max and when the band is playing, loud! I'm stunned there is any stars for this horrible place. I don't even know where to begin. The food is gross,the drinks are packed with ice and no liquor. It's overpriced,the staff is incompetent. It's location is prime so it's beyond me why they can't serve quality food and drinks. It's on Dune Road ,people have a few more dollars to pay for quality. We ate there yesterday and it was nothing short of gross. The crab cakes were fishy,every piece of food is frozen then fried...no fresh fish whatsoever. We've been wanting to get here but each time, the website says it's open and it's not. Today it was finally open after our day at Cupsogue. Please let me begin by saying I own a restaurant so I have a good understanding of how things work. We get there and are brought outdoors to the seating that is sort of facing the water, which is good since the weather is relatively conducive for sitting outdoors. We're told that the table we're interested in is not for us because they're going to be really busy soon for wings night. Ok, we select a different table. The girl who takes our drink and lunch order takes the order, no questions asked, and then I make my way to the restroom to clean up before eating, and I can hear her with other staff members chuckling over the quantity of food we ordered. Not nice. I get to the restroom, the toilet paper is sitting there in a massive roll while the dispenser is empty, and when I wash my hands, there's a filthy rag sitting on the sink. Lovely. We have our lunch, the food is pretty good but the edamame are beyond salty as were most of the dishes. The "Thai chili" dressing on the shrimp was just some spicy mayo. The margaritas were overly sweet and way off balance. We finished, paid, the guy walking around asked if we wanted our change "now" - nope, we're good, and that's it. Interestingly enough, those tables the hostess said would be super busy for wings night so we couldn't enjoy them were empty until we left. In fact only one table other than ours was taken. We were recommended to eat here by a few locals. Bottom line up front, don't waste your time. You're paying for a water front view, which by the way is a small marsh, not the Atlantic. Steak was highly over cooked and when we told the waitress the only option she offered was to wait a long time for a new steak. Manager did not come to talk to us about it until we asked to speak to him at the end. Waitress acted extremely put out to have to print out separate checks for 6 guys. After the years I've been going to Cupsogue with my family, we finally went here this past summer for dinner. It was my niece's birthday nd she wanted to go to a 'beachy place'.. We went here right after Cupsogue. Perfect vibe, very casual.. People were there like us in summer clothes over bathing suits and then people in polos and khakis. Very fun atmosphere. The wait was over an hour but we hung out at the bar. They had a guy singing playing guitar while everyone drank and ate. The back of the place, by the outdoor seating is the bay view of Westhampton and we were lucky enough to catch the sun setting while finishing up dinner. The food was really good. We all had their stuffed quahog that is huge- good enough as an appetizer .. And I had their grilled chicken salad which was delicious. Not a fan of seafood so that's why I got the salad-- everyone else that eats seafood said their food was good. Will def be going back this summer. read more

Stopped by on a little road trip on Dune road. This is the last bit of food you will find down there. We had the shrimp appetizer and Lobster roll. Now this was my first lobster roll ever. I had very high expectations and this one fell short. It was pretty much not so soft lobster with large pieces of celery on white wonder bread. Not what I was looking. Love this place !! We come here often during the summer season for their steamers which are always delicious, and their mussels in spicy marinara is a must try for the sauce alone! We also love their chicken wings but we order them dry and they are our family fave ! If you like lobster Definitely go with the lobster roll, it is a generous portion of lobster meat on a potato roll.
