My boyfriend kept talking about how john the baker used to be In North Miami and was called Mario the baker back in the days. So I finally decided to go see what the fuss was about. When we entered the restaurant I saw how nice and clean they have it. Our waitress Jessica was very tentative and kind. The garlic rolls was on point. It's a MUST have! Our pizza's was also good. We have never been here before and wanted to try it because it's close to my Mom's. The chicken parm was tough, the lasagna was too salty and the garlic knots were blah. I had some friends hype this place up. I went here on a Saturday and got a cheese pizza, some garlic rolls, and a tiramisu. The pizza was alright, I didn't care for the crust it was very chewy and dense. For me, it was just your average run of the mill pizza. The pizza itself did not have much flavor so I had to compensate for that with oregano and parmesan cheese. I will admit, their garlic rolls were pretty good and were the clear highlight of the restaurant. The tiramisu was pretty good, but I've also had better. However, the service here was quite good. Here's a quick run down of what we ordered for take out - Garlic Rolls - I don't know what's the big hype about these rolls but they were okay nothing crazy or over the top Salad - was good I liked the olive oil/ vinegar dressing Meatball Sub- ugh just gross! The meatballs were flavorless with no type of seasoning in the meat or sauce what so ever and they were extremely dry. Fettuccine Alfredo- SMH (shaking my head) just unbelievable how bad this dish was. The cream sauce had no flavor - I don't know what kind of sauce this was but Alfredo it was not. Stuffed Ravioli w/ short rib- Horrible just horrible what a disgrace to even make a dish like this Spaghetti w/ tomato sauce - was okay nothing special how hard can it really be to boil some noodles and open a jar of Ragu sauce Pizza- this one really hit differently- ugh ugh ugh! I was really confused by the micro mini pepperonis and tiny sprinkle of cheese on the pizza. My kids were so confused when they saw it that they didn't even bother with it. I tasted it and it was just bad! Chewy and flavorless. Sorry I hate to leave bad reviews on a place and I usually try to find something good, but this was just all around a big disappointment. I hope they change chefs or take a bit more pride in the food that they are serving. The community has been good to this restaurant as it has been around for years so they should be proud of the food that they serve and put out. I remember this place used to be great! Came in and order a medium mushroom pizza. Came out looking like a small pizza. Sauce tasted like it was from a can and not made fresh. Garlic rolls are always nice and soft but was very light on the garlic this time so it was oil and parsley. Server was nice but was very fast with us and didn't allow us to interact with them at all. August 5, 2017: Lunch Who remembers the classic proverb, "When the cat's away, the mice will play?" Seemingly this was the case on this lazy Sunday afternoon--for some of the crew here today! Although my server was professional and I was satisfied with, I had plenty of time to inadvertently observe the other ladies, as I was sitting facing the kitchen and in front of the checkout counter. It was very unprofessional to see the two older ladies who should have role-modeled for the younger ones. Their demeanor was not only stoic and unfriendly, but it was more than distasteful that they were talking about a couple of the customers. One server even threw, didn't place, but tossed the garlic roll baskets in the dirty dishes plastic bin--twice. She seemed to be upset with one of the guests there and went to speak to a cook--there were three in plain view. Besides that uncomfortable experience, I ordered the spinach cannelloni and I couldn't finish it; not because it was a large portion, as it was, but because I was eating cheese, cheese, and more cheese, with a spinach here and there, and tons of sauce. I did not taste a single portion of pasta! The cup of pasta fagioli I had was good, and the garlic rolls delicious, but I did not like my baked dish. Stopped in tonight for dinner. Place looked busy so when i walked in and said 8 i expected a wait but they were able to accommodate us right away. We sat down and looked over the menus and within a couple minutes the waitress came over to take our orders. We kept it simple with pizza and garlic rolls. Went with a large cheese, large pepperoni and 12 garlic rolls. We also got a large penne with butter for the kids. The pasta and rolls came out quick so i assume the rolls were already made. These rolls were REALLY good. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside with the perfect amount of garlic. The ones on the bottom were a little greasier but that's to be expected. The pizza came out a few minutes later and looked absolutely delicious. I have a lot of respect for a pizza that has the smaller pepperonis under the cheese that curl up and that's what this pizza was. The cheese looked really good too. I do wish it was cooked a little longer because it had a little too much flop to it, but it's something you learn after your first trip. The waitress was great, very attentive and made sure to check on us multiple times. I will definitely be back to John the baker and next time I'll bring the whole family! :) read more

We ended up ordering a half dozen garlic rolls, a side salad to share & a small Margherita pizza. The garlic rolls were amazing! Sooo crispy & very garlicky. (The person sitting next to me at the movies might not be happy sitting next to me!). The salad was ok... Had some brown spots on the white pieces of the lettuce which didn't make it too appealing. The first time I came to John the Baker I did not have the best experience, the lasagna I had was very soggy and they forgot about me. Update - I went back today and my big ziti was absolutely delicious and the young girl at the counter was quick and attentive.
