A small salad was big enough for us to share, my baked ravioli filled with short rib meat was super. Never would have thought of that but way to John !! Got 2 pies to go on Friday, June 13th. Unfortunately, the ricotta and cheese pie was nowhere near as good as it's been. Hardly any ricotta. When there's only 2 ingredients, there should be plenty of both and mine was missing those big pillowy mounds of ricotta. This pizza friday per recommendation from my daughter we decided to try John the baker. We ordered the garlic rolls first as an appetizer. The garlic rolls are humongous and we're baked to perfection. Sadly they weren't garlicky enough for my taste buds. For the main course we ordered a large 16" pepperoni and half sausage pizza. The pizza arrived piping hot. The sausage were like little meatballs instead of the usual sliced or crumbles. The pepperoni tasted like it was sliced fresh not frozen. I'm very disappointed! My wife and daughter seemed to be happy with what they ate. But me not so much! I ordered a cappicola and provolone. I'm fine with the fact that they don't have any and are having trouble getting it. I'm not fine with they know they don't have it and don't know when they are getting it and not crossing it off the menu. The kitchen knew the didn't have any cappicola, so instead of letting the server know so I could order something else, they sent out a sandwich with salami and provolone. I think they thought I wouldn't know the difference. Only one problem. I HATE SALAMI!!! I would have to be stupid not see that wasn't cappicola. I ended up settling for plain old ham. It was just ok. I got it with lettuce and tomatoes. The tomatoes were to dam big to eat on the sandwich. If they had said something sooner I would have looked at menu again and definitely ordered something else. read more

We dropped in today for pizza and salad. The pizza was really good, our server was nice and attentive, and the vibe was relaxed. The salad arrived a little late, as "the salad girl" didn't come in. So why 3 stars? If you raise your prices, no issue. But don't leave yozur old pricing on the menus, then present a bill with different pricing, and when asked, just say that you changed your prices. Either update your menus or honor the prices that you're presenting when your customers order. read more

We've had a few other entrees and they were very good too (Baked Ziti!), but the pizza and garlic bread are irresistible! My family I were looking for a sit down pizza place and we saw a Yelp great reviews for Jonathan Baker located near Pembroke Lakes Mall. When we walked in, we were greeted by the manager, who took us to our table and gave us a rundown of the history of John, the Baker and the menu. John the Baker has a nice rustic Italian pizza shop ambience. Plus, they also have TVs all around, showing multiple news stations, and sporting events that you can watch. We started off with the garlic rolls, and OMG these were some of the best garlic rolls I have ever ate. They were so big and soft like pillows, packed with tons of garlic and juicy. I can eat a dozen of these. We then ordered the margarita and vegetarian pizza. These pizzas were so huge and packed with a lot of toppings, you need 2 hands to eat a slice. I could barely eat two slices because it was so filling. So if you're looking for a great pizza spot to eat at no matter what time of the day, definitely come to John, the Baker. read more

This is our favorite Italian restaurant. We have been dining at John the Baker since the 1970's at the previous Cooper City location and now Pembroke Pines, and food is always excellent. We have discovered that no Italian restaurant around makes garlic rolls like John does. Best ever! It is also a unique experience when John comes to your table and chats with us personally. Good pizza! Got their meat lovers and it was very tasty. They use Uber eats and it was very expensive to order using that service... the pizza with fees came out to $37 (listed in store at $25) and then it asked if you wanted to add tip! So with tip one pizza delivered would be... $47? That's a bunch! I had to get wine anyway so instead I picked up. I just have not used Uber esta in a while and was surprised at the prices. But back to the pizza/ the crust was a bit hard to my liking, but the toppings were very very tasty and good! We just struggled (and won) while butting into the crusty party of the pizza: lol. I have been going to John the Baker for my entire life. I'm 37 years old. I've had countless birthdays at J the B and we come here every Friday. There is no pizza spot that compares. My kids are 4 and 6 years old and every restaurant we go to they compare to J the B. "It's not as good as John the Baker" is a constant comment lol. I love John and I love the food he produces. Nothing but top quality ingredients. Our normal is to start with a dozen rolls extra garlic, 2 orders of clams in white sauce (a garlic wine sauce) and then two large pepperoni extra cheese pizzas. If John ever closes it will be one of the saddest days of my life. I pray it never happens. Last night, spaghetti w/ meat sauce. Thank goodness my husband was able to reach it in his throat to pull it out. Asked for the manager, young lady took it and came back to say it looked like a piece of the steel wool they use to clean the pots. She took the check I don't know what is happening there, but the change is noticeable. I had to search for the server 3 times. He never came back for refills or to ask if we wanted more wine. I had linguine w/white clam sauce. Only way to mess it up is too much water not enough clam juice. It wasn't good. All this being said! This could have been much worse. The flavor is perfect, the texture is even better (nice and crunchy when had fresh, though watery toppings like pineapple will affect crunch factor). I'm not a fan of rolls at a pizza place because most suck, but John does them masterfully. And don't even get me started on the cannoli! Before John, I thought I disliked cannoli, but turns out I had just never had a good one! My go-to is a pepperoni pizza with John sauce. Just got my meal from John the Baker because my usual place is closed on Mondays and I was very much in the mood for some spaghetti and meatballs. It smelled pretty good so I was super excited to start eating, the sauce was flavorless and did not stick to the pasta, the meatballs consistency was good body tasted quite bad, I ordered extra meatballs and could only scarf down one, due to it being unpalatable. I got their garlic rolls which comes with the meal and they were burnt(as you can see in the picture) and very very salty. I've been coming to John The Baker on and off for over 10 years. The first thing that comes to my mind when thinking of this place are the mouth-watering garlic rolls. Imagine a pillowy center in a perfectly sized roll, with just the right amount of toasty crunch on top, sitting in a basket with a tantalizing pool of fresh garlic and oil. Mmm mm mm! I could go back just for those. In addition, the pizza is tasty, with big, New York style slices. I enjoy the John the Baker special or the meat lovers. The Eggplant Parmigiana is also very good. We had a party of 9 and everyone had a good time. The wine of the month was a very good Sangiovese. You can bring your own bottle for a corking fee of $10. Parking was easy at this restaurant in a shopping plaza in Pembroke Pines. The service was good but has room for improvement - I can't bring myself to lower a star for that though as the place is really very good.
