My wife & I have had the pleasure of dining there, enjoying 1/2 off Tuesdays there, various events and the brunch was also fantastic.... really great vibe. I enjoy a restaurant that has variety and personality and this place sure delivers!! We met Chef Kelly who is the mastermind of the menu. We've loved the Fillinstation for years and now with "The Other Side" in the family, "Johnny's Block" is pretty cool. Needless to say we are fans!! I would have given less than one star. So,Went today for brunch. I ordered a breakfast burrito and my plate had blueberry pancake syrup and a hair stuck to the syrup on my plate. I told the server and she said let me get you a manager. The manager came to our table and said and I quote We have a commercial kitchen! What the hell does that mean or have anything to do with my meal being served on a dirty dish! I was NOT looking for anything other than notifying the management that they are serving food on dirty dishes with a hair stuck in pancake syrup to the plate. I have worked in a kitchen a good part of my younger years and I know after the dishes come out of the dishwasher it should be inspected by the dishwasher who gives the dishes to the line where either the plate setup and/or cook inspects the dish before putting food on to the plate and then places food onto an inspected plate then a chef inspects the dish where lastly the food runner/server finally inspects the dish and food before giving it to the customer therefore, they are ALL to blame especially the manager who said it's a commercial kitchen. NOT one person apologized and the manager approached our table with NO mask and his face was about 2.5 feet from our faces. Myself and 4 friends attended Earth Trivia at The Other Side. My friend and I arrived first and waited about 10 minutes to be acknowledged. When our waitress 'Courtney' (we know her name by the bill, not because she introduced herself) showed up, she said 'what do you want to drink?' No greeting or anything personable was offered. We asked for the specials, which she rambled off, and my friend ordered a craft beer while I ordered a Bacardi club with an orange. They did have a decent craft beer list.... But it was written in chalk a few yards away and our waitress told my friend to get up to look at the list rather than telling her the draft beer options. Anyways, our drinks came out and I received Bacardi club and orange juice. I did not want to say anything about orange juice vs an orange since we did not have the best rapport with the server and we anticipated more guests and would order food. We wanted to make sure that she would still wait on us in a semi-timely manner. The service continued to be less than mediocre all night, but the food was delicious. I ordered spaghetti squash which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My fiancé ordered a fried eggplant parm sandwich which was also very tasty. My friend ordered a jerk chicken bowl which he said was excellent but a small portion. The only downside was that a majority of their dishes did not come with a side, including burgers. We finished trivia and asked for separate checks. When I received mine, I was charged 6.75 for my drink plus 2.50 for a double that I never ordered. I showed Courtney my bill and explained that I did not order a double in which she replied 'Your drink came in a tall glass and that's what you drank.' What happened to customer service? When I politely told her I never ordered a double nor did she ask (oh and my drink was wrong to begin) she snatched my check and walked away. Upon return, she handed me a folded up my receipt with the double price taken off, without saying a word to me again. I frequented The Other Side for FSU and Dolphins football games, but after being treated so poorly, I will probably look for somewhere else to spend money. Let me preface by saying I am not a picky customer and I tend to be infinitely patient. HOWEVER - the service I have received today was ridiculously horrific. The server, Melissa, was so bad it was painful. 45 minutes to get waters - even worse, it took 20 minutes for us to even be acknowledged. We then asked to speak to management, and were met with excuses about them being short-staffed and last night being a crazy party... that's great, but you're not even busy and valid complaints should not be met with excuses, especially by a manager who is visibly intoxicated. We have enjoyed coming here for a few years on 1/2 price Tuesday's. Over the past few months it has become obvious that they are understaffed in the kitchen and/or they need to add to the kitchen space. The orders are increasingly taking longer and tonight drinks arrived long after the food arrived. Utensils arrived 15 minutes after my salad was delivered. For the longest time I've heard great things about Johnny's--both their Other Side and their Filling Station. Finally made my way down...met some friends for Sunday Brunch the other day and with the exception of good company, had a pretty forgettable time. It was around 1:30 so the place was bustling. The server warned us that the kitchen was currently sitting on a 45 minute window for orders. Not in any rush we said that's fine, just wondered whether or not the appetizer of chips and queso would be delayed as well. She said, naw that comes out pretty quick. It did come out pretty quick. To the table next to us. At least that's what our waitress says. After an hour had passed and we were wondering aloud about the status of the app. we were informed that the dish was mistakenly sent next door. A few of us are still unsure if this is a KGB cover up or an order for queso that simply went rogue. She was telling us that she'd bring it out right away when what should appear? Our food. Great timing right? Don't worry about it, we're good. I got the lobster mac n cheese as well as a side of the chipotle shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits was money. Big ol shrimp, juicy and plump as ever resting on a bed of cheesy grits. Great texture, great portion, great size. Very well done. (NOTE: Having read other Yelper's reviews, I wonder if they took a look at the portion size of this dish and up'd the ante? I wanna say that I had about 5/6 big shrimp in my order compared to a measly 3 which I see as a complaint earlier this year. If so, good work adjusting.) The lobster mac and cheese though, kinda bland. Scratch that--really bland. It was gooey and creamy with a nice white cheese sauce but the lobster portion was weak as was the overall taste. Had a few bites before I needed to grab the salt and pepper to give it a little push. That seemed to do the trick. Thing is, I feel like I shouldn't have to make my food you know...taste. That's kinda the cook's job, no? Mighta had a less than memorable experience here but I gotta think this visit was a little abnormal--heard too many kudos to write Johnny's off after a single strike. If you had asked me a year ago about this place, I would have said it was awesome and recommended you to go. But after two awful visits recently, I had to write this review. I figured the first time was a fluke since I had been coming to this place for a while and never had a bad experience. After the second time, I decided it wasn't worth wasting my money. Okay, now here are the details on why: First off, their menu is excellent and their food is great, that's they only reason they get 2 stars instead of one. Their service is the reason why they are being rated so low and why I'm never going back. The first time we had a bad experience, we could barely get a server to look at us. They took our first drink order and food order quickly. After that, they never visited the table. My husband was waiting to order another beer but eventually gave up since no one showed up. We got our food and the person dropped it and left quickly. We decided to forgo a second drink and just get our check but we couldn't see a server or flag anyone down for it. We waited and watched them help out other distant tables but quickly turn back to the bar before they even got near us. I eventually flagged down a waitress and waited another 15 minutes for our check. I would also like to add that the place was pretty much empty. It only had two other people eating/drinking. I went back a second time because I figured that last incident was a fluke. We went to watch an Orlando City Soccer away game. It was actually not incredibly busy for it being a bar playing an OCSC game on TV. We showed up early and secured a good spot. We got drinks immediately and settled in for the game. 10 minues before the game started we ordered food. We figured they'd be a bit busy so we'd be waiting for food. At half time (55 minutes after we ordered) we looked around and realized that people who came in after us already had their food. We didn't immediately realize it because we had been watching the game. The waitress then says that they confused our order and just gave it to someone else so they'd have to reorder it again and we'd have to even more time to eat. We decided to just go since that was crazy and asked for our check instead. I think it was also crazy that they didn't comp our entire check or at least give us 50% off our check for the food mix up. So we just paid for our drinks and left to another bar during the half time break of the game. I really used to love this place and want to love it still but their service is so incredibly awful it's hard to ignore it. They have great food and it's located close to my apartment but it's not worth waiting 30 minutes for a second beer or an hour for food. read more

I'm late in writing this... Had brunch here on January 18th, it was very good. We all enjoyed our food--the eggs Benedict were particularly tasty. Service was fine--nothing to write home about, but they were busy with a special fundraiser that was going on. I've also had dinner here, it's always been good to very good. This review is actually for the beer shack that is located next to the outdoor seating and the restaurant. I didn't eat any food while here. I am very impressed with the outdoor seating area! They have a huge covered patio, several tables, and a really cute beer shack with a nice bar. I was pleasantly surprised with their beer selection. Almost all of it was craft beer. Not only was there craft beer, but it was CHEAP craft beer. My husband and I enjoyed four beers for under $15. We found out that all their draft beer is only $3.00. What I normally pay at least $5.00 for was $3.00 here. They also have many bottles to pick from. The one area they lost a star was for service. The bartenders were very nice, but they were also covering multiple areas of the restaurant. Food is ok. Your typically burger place. Nothing extraordinary but a good place for a few drinks and decent food...however, their service is atrocious. Very rude staff...took over an hour to get food and when it came it was not what we ordered. They were not very apologetic or nice about it either. Took another hour to find someone to get the check. Extremely inattentive and it wasn't even that busy. Would have liked to order more drinks but no one came around, atmosphere is nice and could be fun but the service is so off putting I don't think I'll be rushing back anytime soon. read more

This is more of a 2.5 review. My girlfriend, another friend and I stopped in for brunch on a Sunday. The service was friendly but very forgetful. We must've asked about 3-4 times for water and didn't received it until right before our meals came out. The servers just seemed really disorganized and it didn't seem there were assigned sections. I'd give the food a 3.5 out of 5. I had a mimosa which was pretty good as well. My company had Bloody Marys which they complained didn't come with enough olives, celery, etc. They did look pretty baseline for a Bloody Mary. Wasn't impressed. We went here for brunch on a Sunday. We drove all the way from Kissimmee. We seated ourselves then sat there quite a while as waitresses walked by not looking at us. We had to finally go ask someone to serve us. The service after that was definitely less than stellar. My friends clear water cup was all brown on the bottom so she didn't drink from it. Well, we figured out what it was when our meals came. All 3 of us had ordered a side of 'tater tot hash brown casserole'. Apparently which was nothing more than tater tots ?! and it was my friends husbands tater tots we all ate. Whoops. (How is that a hash brown casserole & why was it brought out as an app?) There wasn't any silverware and we had to ask for it. When the waitress brought us some, the napkins covering them were all matted and stained. It looked like they came from the bottom of the barrel. I was less than pleased with my meal. Aforementioned tater tots, unappealing eggs and an English muffin. Near the end, our waitress started being more attentive but it definitely wasn't enough to change the experience. On the plus side, the mimosas were inexpensive & the DJ does a great job with the music. There was also football games on the TV. My friend's husband kept apologizing as he said it had always been good during his previous visits. Awesome burgers! My burger had avocado, bacon, melty cheese, and a nice runny over easy egg on top of a perfectly cooked thick and juicy medium rare half pound patty! I work from home and occasionally I get tired of being cooped up in my home office and feel the need to get out around people. So today I decided to take my laptop and try this place out. I ordered a bacon and turkey club. It was huge, and very good. The turkey was clearly hand carved and not of the normal food service lunch meat variety. I also got their fries as a side. By far the best fries I have had in a long time. I washed all of that down with a couple Bud Lights as I responded to work emails. The place wasn't very busy but then again I went for lunch around 1:30pm. The service was attentive and good. I would like to come back here during an evening. Every time I come here I say I'll never go back. This time was the final straw. We went up this past Sunday for the 1:00 games knowing The Steelers were playing at 4 so it would be easier to get a decent table to watch The Bucs game. (Johnny's is a Steelers Watch Bar) When we arrived there were people scattered everywhere. You had parties of 2&3 sitting at 8 tops and parties of 3-5 all crammed together but not one table that would accommodate 5 people near a TV that was playing the game we came to watch. We ended up at one of the tables at the top of the stairs that was only for 3 people. We asked one of the two people sitting at an 8 top table if we could use 2 of their chairs. A server immediately came over and chastised us with a scowl saying we couldn't remove chairs from her section that we would have to use chairs from the same section we were sitting in. Once we located chairs we crammed in best we could. Next thing you know, here comes another scowling server telling us to squeeze in some more that we were blocking the walkway. It's too bad they can't get their shit together to make it easier for folks to ENJOY the atmosphere and food! read more
