The Dancing Bee Everytime Ive come here, everybody orders something different. While I do like some of the items like the chicken and palabok, there are some that I don't. The yum burger is one of those don'ts. This location is located on the Makai side (thats closer to the sea) in the Ala Moana shopping center. The seating is shared with all the eaterys of the food court, and usually crowded, so plan accordingly if you do want to sit and enter the swarn of eaters. Now I have had the Aloha Burger before and it was very messy. I needed plate, fork, and knife to finish. The Big Yum burger comes with a bushy luscious lettuce and 2 sliced tomatoes. I just did not get any taste of burger at all. Again, the burger feels lost in the forest of veggies and even when I pulled the patty out to take a bite of it, the taste turned me off, tasted "soyish." Big Yum Burger: (4/10) Overall, this is still a decent location for your Jolibee filipino fix. If you don't know what to get the safest bet is the chicken. Try that first before you get adventurous with Palabok or Spaghetti. This loc would clock out at 2 stars because the foot traffic in between the counters are just silly at this loc, and the cashier talks too soft and cant understand because of the noise level, but rounding up for that hard working, crowd pleasing, dancing bee out front! read more

Spicy fried chicken was soggy and didn't have much spice. Fries were good, but slightly soggy and nothing to call home about. Mango pie also tasted really artificial. Not worth the hype, but at least the service was good. read more

This is by far the worse jollibee on the island First off they forget the food they repeatedly go back and say the order Secondly they tried to charge me the missing food again and took my card the second time because their credit card transaction pad wasn't working when I tapped to pay so the Filipino lady did it for me and never gave my card back and at the time I wasn't thinking about the card because of how mad I am about this whole situation. And lastly when I called to see if my card was there the manager said no so I went down in person to try see if they had it and guess that they did, manager told me sorry maybe they was too busy to check and see if my credit was in the drawer. These old Filipino ladies are so bad at being a cashier and the people that put the food in the bag are just as worse and the management is disastrous whole place is a complete failure as far as customer service goes. I was told by a friend that Jollibee's chicken was her favorite fried chicken so when I visited her I bought a bucket of chicken from the Waipahu location. I guess we didn't eat it right away so it wasn't even warm, so it was OK, not bad. When I took my wife to the Ala Moana Makai Food Court for lunch we both purchased a 2 piece lunch that included a drumstick, a thigh, a side of mashed potatoes with gravy and a medium drink, all for just $7.49. We parked our car nearby and ate our lunch. This time the chicken was still hot and you can taste the briny juices when you bite into it, it was delicious this time because it was still hot. This jollibee is inside the makai foodcourt of ala moana center. Its right next to an entrance to the parking garage so it's convenient for pick up which is what i was doing. I went inside to get quick to-go food. There were no people in line but alot of people waiting for orders. This food court is generally busy from tourists. I ordered yumburger, spaghetti (filipino style sweet), and spicy chicken. I wanted the hotdog but they stop selling it. The cashier is friendly and the food came out in about 10 minutes. I took it home to eat. The spicy chicken is much better than before because they mix it in the batter now instead of just sprinkled on top. The yumburger has a different taste than american burgers but its good. The spaghetti is sweet vs American savory flavor. Everyone on the island knows jollibee and has eaten there. So for the tourists, i would recommend for fast food filipino style. I have actually tried jollibee in philippines and the chicken tastes better over there. PEACH MANGO PIE is consistently crispy and flavorful. SPAGHETTI as usual, they never disappoint me! Their spaghetti is my all-time favorite since I was a kid. But the drink (sierra mist) dang! This drink ruined our dinner tonight. Actually its not even a sierra, it's WATER! And we felt so disappointed coz we are looking forward for the drink coz when you're walking from Jollibee across to the park it feels thirsty after that. My husband was really frustrated and at the same time disappointed. I guess they simply mistakenly put water coz at that time also the place is packed with people knowing its dinner time and etc. etc. Whatever the reason, may they keep eyeing on people's order coz they pay for it. This review is four months late, but I still had a photo of my meal and wanted to share my experience. This was my first and only time to eat at Jollibee. I had heard good things about this franchise and that it was popular in the Philippines. The closest Jollibee near my home is at Ala Moana. When I crave fried chicken, my first thought turns to Popeyes. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for my waist line), the Popeyes stores in Hawaii are too far away from my home for me to walk there for a meal on a regular basis. I finally gave into my curiosity and ate dinner at the Jollibee at Ala Moana. I ordered fried chicken, fries, and a corned beef pocket sandwich. My favorite was the corned beef sandwich. It's super small but it packs a lot of taste into only several bites. The fried chicken and fries were hot right out of the fryer. I enjoyed the fried chicken, but I think Popeyes is superior to Jollibee. Popeyes' chicken is crispier and has more flavor, especially if you order the spicy chicken. Jollibee's chicken is fine, but more on the plain side and not as crispy. I can see myself eating at Jollibee several times each year if I'm at Ala Moana and crave fried chicken, but Popeyes and Korean fried chicken joints throughout the city offer better fried chicken. I have heard of this place but tried it for the first time last week and I must say it was great and I am not a huge fried chicken person. The ratio of breading to protein was good, the spice level for the seasoning and the chicken was good and the oil was fresh and the chicken cooked perfectly and not overcooked as many places who deep fry tend to do. I throughly enjoyed it and talked my friend into trying it the next day. She got the chicken sandwich and said it was better than Popeye's spicy chicken sandwich. Oh and those hot peach and mango pies are really satisfying. I could eat one right now! So, I am a fan now and look forward to my next lunch there soon. read more

If I recall correctly, before COVID-19 was a thing, chicken sandwiches were the hot topic on social media and cable news. Although the big feud on the mainland was between Popeyes and Chic-fil-A, since, alas, we lack the latter homophobic yet delicious chain, I chose to do a taste-test of my own a few weeks ago, comparing Jollibee's chicken sandwich with Popeyes' in late January, while the chicken sandwich craze was beginning to die down. I tried ordering one at the Kalihi Jollibees but apparently they were sold out, and on another occasion tried ordering at this location, but again they were sold out. I asked the cashier when they expected to have sandwiches in stock, but they were unsure. Fortunately, the next day I found myself at Ala Moana again and the sandwich was indeed available! Although this location often has long lines of tourists and locals alike, many of whom seem confused by their online ordering and buzzer systems, I waited less than five minutes and got my sandwich in about the same time. I tasted it in some nook in the food court. The sandwich is notably smaller than Popeyes', and I felt that the chicken itself was not as good. It was less crunchy and generally thinner. It also had less seasoning than Popeyes, and although I appreciated the tomato and lettuce which, combined with the less greasy chicken, made the sandwich overall easier to eat and, I would expect, healthier, both vegetables kept sliding out of the sandwich. That said, I think its one redeeming quality was the delicious garlic sauce that was smothered over the bun, and slightly visable in the picture. I wanted to lick it off the wrapper. It was almost better than Jolibees gravy imo. Overall, I would say Popeyes' sandwich is the winner. Nonetheless, gravy and garlic sauce would make two exceptional additions to that already tasty sandwich. read more

THE HALO HALO NEXT TIME! DEC 8th.2016 Well, how should I express my feelings for this place after I bought the chicken tender meal with fries instead of rice? It's a quick meal. I've never been to any other Jollibee so this was my first time. The location at Ala Moana and a highly busy spot from The street off of the Beach side from Ala Moana park. I saw one thing on the menu that might bring me back and that's- halo Halo. It looked pretty good and interesting. The meal I had came with a drink which they got wrong and a container of gravy for the chicken. I think my choice of fries were good cause I don't believe there is a choice of brown or white rice it comes automatic with white rice if you choose rice. The chicken tenders were not bad, and it was crispy enough to get you to dip them into the gravy. The server didn't speak very well and that's most likely why my drink was not correct. Over all. A botched drink and fries that were "OK" but no choice of brown rice... And an enticing thought to get the halo halo.... I'll return for the Halo Halo and possible the chicken tenders only... Now we go to the drive-thru at the corner of North King and Dillingham and get the 6-piece chickenjoy bucket and now I'm addicted to this chicken (and gravy!). And I still love the mango-peach pie. My wife loves fried chicken, but she always pulls all the skin off before eating (which is weird to me ... it seems to me that it's not fried chicken anymore if you pull all of the fried part off and discard it). Usually it just gets discarded, but in the case of Jollibees, I happily take it off her hands and dip it in the gravy, and it's heavenly just like that. It's like having sashimi instead of sushi. I guess now my two favorite fried chickens are jollibees and zippy's. It's about a tie ... just depends on what I'm in the mood for. Once in a blue moon, I get a craving for KFC (original recipe) and must have it (sometimes this happens because of their advertising during NFL games), but once I've had it, I'm usually good for 6-12 mos. before I have to go back there again. The hamburger is pretty good but the thing that always brings me back is their fried chicken. Personally I think Jollibee holds their own against the big mainland chains. It won't be the best Filipino food that you can get, but the food comes out quick and I do love their pancit and Chickenjoy with gravy! Mmmm mmmm good! This is my second time eating here. The first time I had the fried chicken with the spaghetti. The fried chicken was good, but I couldn't say the same for the spaghetti. They use banana ketchup to make their spaghetti. It must be an acquired taste because I had a really hard time eating sweet spaghetti. This time around, I got the fried chicken with mash and gravy. It was winners! The fried chicken was crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. The mash was smooth with a creamy texture and taste to it. It was far from bland, but the gravy just took it to another level. The gravy was so flavorful without being overly salty. My new favorite item from this place is the pineapple quencher that caught my eye. My meal came with a drink. I asked the cashier if I could have the pineapple quencher instead of the fountain drink. She said that I could with no extra charge. I took my first sip and fell in love. This is so much better than the ordinary pineapple juice. It was on the sweeter side which I prefer, but not too sweet. I don't even know how to explain it, just try it for yourself. The last thing I have to say about this place is that the workers are so nice. They kept calling me ma'am and thanking me for everything. The service was terrible (the cashier completely forgot about fulfilling my order before going on her break so after waiting an eternity for someone to call my number, I had to flag someone down and tell them that they forgot about my order). The wait was definitely not worth it because both the chicken and fries were cold. But don't worry townies, their Ala Moana location is much much better. There are 5 Jollibee locations on Oahu. I mean, it's no surprise since there are a lot of filipino folks on the island. This Jollibee at the Ala Moana Shopping Center has nothing real special about the food. I wish Jollibee in general always had Spam or Corned Beef Bites. I do like how they have that big screen on the outside--my daughter liked playing with it. It's located right at the entrance so it can cause lots of walking traffic jams and may cause confusion with the line. I could get their fried chicken picture out of my head, and since I have been wanting to try Their fried chicken for a long time, and I burned tons of sweat at the UFC fighting class today, I let myself order their 2-piece fried chicken. The fried chicken had a golden crispy appearance, and biting into it, it was crispy on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside. It was fried to perfection. With the Tobasco hot sauce, it was delicious, just what I was looking for. The breading was light, lighter than KFC, and I prefer lighter breading, because it doesn't hurt my mouth biting into it. However, I didn't care for their gravy dressing on the side. The order came out fast, the cashier and the manager were friendly. They gave me a buzzer while waiting.
