This was my first visit to Josephs. I'd heard good things & finally stopped in for a togo order after visiting the zoo. They do not make the Naples pizza anymore, so I ordered a medium hand tossed pizza with olive oil, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, black olives, feta & mozzarella. It is probably the best pizza I've had in Jax!! The crust was perfectly cook & so fresh! The ingredients were also fresh & evenly distributed. I, also, got the Muffaletta sandwich. It is huge! Freshly baked bread & homemade olive dressing. I HIGHLY recommend it. Also, probably the best Muffaletta in Jax! Very clean restaurant & great ambiance with a great waitstaff. Hands down one of the best pizza!! If you have a large family, this is the place to take them. The portions are huge and you can easily share the extra large pizza with 8 people! The ingredients are fresh. The cheese stretches really good and gooey! Also, every time we've been here, the staff have been wonderful. Very attentive. Very sweet. Overall feels very welcoming. I was told this is the only decent place to eat in the area. Inside is quite a bit different than the exterior. All their bread is homemade, and they have homemade sauces as well, among other things. Upon walking in, they have a board with daily specials. They have a very small bar area with 4 barstools and about 7 draft beers. Their pizzas looked good, but I knew I wouldnt be able to finish a whole pizza so I just ordered a homemade Italian sausage sandwich. The sandwich was large and filled with pan Italian sausage, mozzarella cheese and their homemade marinara sauce. Pretty good, but a lot of bread. I wasn't able to eat all of the bread. I ordered a baklava cheesecake to go....then decided to eat it on my drive back across town to my hotel. It's definitely unique and I can't say I've ever had a cheesecake like this, I do like baklava, and cheesecake....just never had this combination before. Overall, this place is a good spot if you're in the area, or looking to take a client out and not venture too far away. Service was quick, even though they were shorted handed on my visit. read more

I got the eggplant parm sub - the size was massive which was a big surprise so I ended up having it for 2 meals, however the sauce was not for me, it was very strong and all I could taste long after eating. Maybe there was too much garlic? I don't know what it was but I would never get this again because of that. What I would go back for? The cannoli! I've never had a cannoli like it before I got the walnut and it tasted like it had amaretto in it so it was really delicious. The place was pretty busy so I know people like it but I just wouldn't get the eggplant parm again, but I'm not sure if they use the same sauce for their pizza. read more

This always has and remains a great place on the North side of Jax. I grew up in the area and used to frequent this restaurant. Every time I come through town I make it a point to visit. I had another amazing visit last night, you know right when you pull in the parking lot and it is full. It is just that sign that the food will be good. I went with my kids, we had a garlic bread starter, pizzas and dessert for an AMAZING price. Not only was there a great price, the food was excellent as usual. My family and I have been coming here for years, but it had been a while since we visited the original location. We happened to be on the side of town, so we came here for lunch. It was almost empty when we walked in, so we had a large table to ourselves. The service was excellent, with our waitress being super sweet and attentive, bringing us multiple baskets of garlic bread!! I looked at the specials and decided on the grilled chicken with spaghetti and minestrone soup. There was plenty of spaghetti and chicken, and the minestrone soup was full of flavor and ingredients. Can't believe we've never heard of this place or seen it. However, on a Sunday it was packed for lunch. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Patty was our waitress and she was great. Had the Gyro Pizza and a pitcher of Sangria. Pizza was delicious and sangria was refreshing! We'll definitely be back. So tonight's Spotlight is on the Northside of Jacksonville Florida. Joseph's Pizza has been in the same location for over 60 years and I have fond vivid memories during my childhood and teenage years going there for occasional weekend dinners as a treat. It has stood through tough times, different owners and even a Fire 3 years ago. The locals have kept supporting and helping the restaurant thrive again through this pandemic which makes a fellow local small business support very proud of my City. So of course I can't go to Joseph's "Pizza" and not have a few slices! I got some great recommendations from Ms. Cindy and the Side of Meatballs was a great addition to tide me over while my pie was being prepared. I shared my childhood memories with her and the night shift Manager who originally sat me and checked in throughout my meal and even surprised me with some of their Fresh made Zeppoles. This restaurant is a true destination spot with a family atmosphere to welcome guests from every walk of life to just come enjoy an affordable delicious meal. I got my pizza because I had heard so much about this place being it's been a staple of Jacksonville a VERY long time. I must say I was highly disappointed. It was really that good. Stumbled upon this place while leaving the zoo and I must say this hit the spot. It's a cute little restaurant tucked in a building down Main st. I got the manicotti which was different than I'm use to because it was stuffed with spinach,cheese and sausage unlike most dishes I've had but it was delicious. We sampled a few different items on the menu and everything was really yummy. The employees were a bit short staffed but we were serviced in a timely fashioned. I also got a baklava cheesecake, 2 cannolis and a chocolate dream cake. I would have taken pictures but it didn't last that long. Another fabulous meal from Joseph's. Every meal I have had here has been fantastic. My wife has some Devi food allergies and they take excellent care of her needs. The manager and I even got into a discussion of how authentic their muffuletta sandwich (their bread is made from scratch) is, since I have had them all over the world, but never from here. She went to the back and made one so that I could try it, so that I could order it in the future more comfortably knowing what it was like. We went to Joseph's Pizza today for lunch. Today's special was spaghetti with a side salad or soup I opted on getting the minestrone soup it was full of vegetables very thick and tasty spaghetti sauce was nice and thick and also very good along with the garlic toast. My friend got a Mufatta sandwich which came with four nice size servings of sandwich. I also ordered some tiramisu to go which I will enjoy later this evening. I need to go back to Josephd Pizza and get one of their pizzas and an antipasto salad. Every time we go there I look and see what everyone else is eating and it all looks so good. When I was little I use to frequently be around this place because I practically lived across the street & my mom was a manager here. The owner Susie is super nice and more than receptive if you ever have any issues that couldn't be resolved on a management level. I first visited this pizza joint back in 2005 and have always loved this place since. The Joseph's pizza is my favorite (minus the olives since I don't like olives). I always order the XL size pizza. If you want anything other than a pizza, don't come here. Baked ziti never saw an oven. Microwave probably. COLD sauce out of a can or jar. Mozzarella cheese wasn't even melted. The only warm spot was the center of the plated food. Chianti had almost turned to vinegar. The sauce for my ziti and my sons chicken parm was completely different. His was ok. Service and quality seem high but regretfully the flavors were a no for us. Surprised because it smells so good when I walked in. We tried minestrone soup which had a thicker broth than I'm accustomed to and the ingredients lost their freshness if they ever had it. Caesar had no anchovies but I didn't ask ahead. Lasagna was just a no. The flavors were meh and the assembly was sloppy and not in the homemade I don't care because it taste great way , the large chunks of bell peppers just didn't work. Still looking for my favorite local Italian but I guess I'm driving to Amelia and St Augustine or cooking at home. (mother from Calabria so... I was craving Italian the easy way this season.
