I've been going here for many years, and the food/service is consistently great. Many of the staff has been there for years. Excellent food with reasonable prices. Their buffalo chicken wraps are my favorite! I noticed they recently expanded their menu to include some healthier options as well. Weekend nights can get busy, so expect to wait a bit. My family recommended this place, and I happened to be in the area while visiting, so we gave it a shot. The restaurant is pretty large but compartmentalized-- we ate in the dining room, but I'm pretty sure they have a bar and banquet area as well. It's a fast paced restaurant with large portion sizes. I got a variation on a corned beef sandwich (it was more like a reuban), and my boyfriend got a combo platter with beef on weck/chicken wings/chicken tenders as well as fries. We tried a crock of beer cheese soup and it was good. My sandwich was better than I expected it to be, albeit large. My boyfriend's platter was really a ridiculous amount of food, but it was all pretty good. The 'mini beef on weck' was the size of a normal sandwich in my opinion. The bill came out much lower than I thought it would for that much food, so that was nice too. Overall everything was really good, even if it's just typical pub food. Not really worthy of elaboration, because if you live and dine out in WNY you've likely had food just like this, countless times, in many places. Six of us met for dinner tonight. We have met at JP's before and the food is always good. Never great but good enough to keep us coming back. Other attributes we enjoy are location, bar and patio. Tonight's experience was anything but desirable. The service was awful. Normally, we don't expect the best service there but since we meet more for the company of our group and the drinks, it's not as noticeably horrendous. The server was short, never smiled, spilled multiple items on us. Thankfully the cup of French Onion soup was lukewarm at best or my arm and leg would have been scalded. We sat with empty drinks for a bit and if it weren't for the bussing staff we really wouldn't have had much of any service at all. Out of the six entrees ordered, I would recommend the Fritz shrimp, fried chicken and the French dip sandwich. Their French onion soup is usually fantastic however ours came out cold. Unfortunately I truly believe the service in a restaurant can make or break the entire dining experience. We'll be back but I think I'll eat dinner prior to meeting and just enjoy the drinks and laughs I share with my friends. read more

We held my daughter's baby shower here and everything was wonderful. Lisa was our liaison and very helpful with decorating. The room looked beautiful%- we had our choice of linen color and lighting color to match theme. The food was delicious, served hot and service was wonderful. We had held her bridal shower there also a few years back and JP's continues to provide a wonderful experience at a very reasonable cost. My mom and I stopped here for lunch on a random Thursday in summer. We were there around 1:30 but the restaurant was busy and we had a short wait which surprised us. We didn't mind and it was very quick we just didn't expect that. That was very positive to us, as we had never been before so we thought it must be very good. Although it was 95 outside that day, the inside was dark and cool. We were seated at a very comfortable booth, and waited on promptly by a smiling, friendly waitress. The menu was extensive and there was also a daily specials sheet. It was hard to decide! I eventually chose the panini special which was hummus with goat cheese and summer squash and was fabulous. It was served with cubes of roasted sweet potato and I really loved it. My mother had a corned beef on rye and had to take half home. The beef was nicely sliced and tender and she was very happy with it. Although we live an hour away, we will definitely be back. The prices were very reasonable, and we want to try the shepherds pie next! read more

Took my son there for his 20th birthday, as he loves the place. I am not sure why. I ordered a salad, stuffed mushroom appetizer, and a side of fries. The fries were great, crispy not greasy. The stuffed mushrooms lacked any real flavor, despite being covered in cheese. The salad? Huge letdown! Iceberg lettuce, 1 tomato wedge, two cucumber slices. That's it. My husband ordered the lemon pepper chicken, expecting the chicken to be grilled. Not so. He said it had the texture of being boiled. The pan seared vegetables that came with his meal were also very over cooked. My son ordered the corned beef and cabbage and couldn't say enough wonderful things about it. I must say, it looked delicious. Another thing I found odd was, if they're an Irish bar, why the page of Italian specialties? Somehow, it just seemed odd to me. Went here with my girlfriend for dinner. We arrived to a very nice set up but the condition of the floor really caught our eye which was completely covered in straw wrappers, food crumbs and dirty napkins...gross. The food quality was average for some reason the French dip my girlfriend ordered didn't come topped with Swiss cheese as most places do. As for the service, it was great in the beginning but when we finished our meal our waitress was no where to be found. 10 minutes go by she finally comes out to the dining room with a bunch of other waitresses and I ask for our check. She comes back with it and I need change. Another 10 minutes goes by. Our waitress is nowhere to be found again so I get change from the hostess counter and leave our payment our table and left. Just writing to say I had the BEST dinner the other night at JPs. I had the Combo I. Mini beef on weck, 5 wings, and fries. It was outstanding, I have been thinking about it for days. The fries were great, the wings big, cooked perfectly, and perfectly sauced. The slider was everything a weck should be. Fresh bun, flavorful meat, and moist without being soggy. We have unfortunately eaten here twice, with the same result. The service here is absolutely horrible through out the entire meal! We arrived mid afternoon and there was 1 person at the bar, 2 people at a nearby table, n 3 staff hudled in a corner. It took about 20 minutes to be acknowledged. She didn't inquire about our meal until after we had finished it(2 simple meals.) Nothing to write about. She arrived w the bill about an hour after we had finished. She then inquired how the meal was. Told her we didn't get our french onion soup. She immediately turned around and disappeared. Later it came out warm and cheese was not even browned. I've eaten here several times. It's a popular destination for my family, as it is a short walking distance from my parents' house. They have a pretty good beer selection. I wouldn't say it's a craft beer destination, but they always have several on tap, including local offerings like Big Ditch and Hamburg Brewing. Typical pub fare, nothing to rave about but always good. The wings here are pretty good. On my most recent visit here, I had cheddar ale soup and a green salad, both were fresh and good. The service has always been fine, no complaints. I always have a good time here. My favorite place to sit is the enclosed patio room. It does get quite busy here on weekends, but they seem to be staffed well enough to keep up. read more

I've been to JP's many times. Their food is one of the best in Hamburg area. We were going to order a few different appetizers and fish fry to split, the waitress told us we weren't allowed to order the fish fry and split it. We were fine with that, if that is the restaurant policy. So, we canceled the appetizer we were going to order and we both order the fish. First off the service wasn't that great at all. We've been there several time and usually the service is amazing. I would understand if the place was packed, but it wasn't. We got a table right away and there were tons of tables open. The food came out quickly, but the waitress was extremely slow to take are order. There was three of us eating. The table next to us sat after us and order before us. Then when we were waiting for the check we waited over 30mins for our bill as she made sure the other tables were taken care of before us. Of course the fish fry was amazing and the chicken sandwich was delicious, but the tone the waitress used was mean about splitting the fish. We also order a Red Bull and vodka as a drink and the waitress charge us as call rocks. I know Red Bull is expensive, but it's not considered a call rocks. I'm am sure with the micros cash registers there is a button for Red Bull. You waitress should learn how to treat people and just because a group of young women come in doesn't mean you make them last for everything. The rest of the staff was amazing, the hostess bartender and Buster did a wonderful job. My friends and I meet at JP's at least once a month for girls dinner. It's a shame we were treated this way. I hope Carolyn treats all the tables she has the same from now on. I would of gave HP's 5 stars because this place has amazing food, but the waitress wasn't the best. So I give it 3 1/2. Just got back from our corned beef and cabbage dinner outing at JP's and tonight 2 of our group tried their "simply the best" french onion soup. We both agreed it's about the weakest excuse for french onion soup that we have had. This watery unflavored offering doesn't come close to Moonies recipe. I've never thought JP's food was very good just edible. If it wasn't for our groups yearly get together I would go elsewhere to eat. Celebrated my dad's 94th birthday at this restaurant. The waitress was fantastic and even sang happy birthday to my dad. My dad had the open face Reuben - his favorite sandwich!
