I've tried smoothies and sandwiches and they taste great here. But sometimes, like today, staff are unresponsive (they don't acknowledge new customers because they're too busy) -- it took 40min to get my smoothie and food on a weekday afternoon. This used to be one of the best acai bowl places in La Jolla. Recently, they've started pre-making their blended acai and freezing them until ordered! You can no longer customize your blend (a LOT of people don't drink the standard soy milk). In addition, they don't disclose this info- I ordered mine with almond milk and wasn't told they're all made with soy. The fruit is still fresh and great, but the acai is the most important part!! read more

It was okay, nothing special. My acai bowl was really brown in color as was mostly granola, and I mean I love granola as much as the next person but it was overwhelming. It is a really big bowl for the price but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

We eat out around San Diego and mostly in PB and La Jolla. We buy entertainment books every year and its filled with 2 for 1 coupons. The employee refused to honor it even though she called the owner! It was at the PB location. They must have signed up to advertise through the entertainment book or the coupon would not be there. They insinuated we were scamming them and embarrassed us in front of other customers! They count on people coming in with a coupon then most people will pay full price to avoid embarrassment. We have lived in PB for 25 years and it was so humiliating that even if they said we have free juice or food for life we will never return. We are business owners also and belong to several local organizations. We have convinced all of our contacts to NEVER go there (Over 100) read more

Most stuff is overpriced and they're trying way too hard to have everything under the sun available in that little store. The same person who rings you up makes the sandwiches, smoothies, salads, and shots. A bit unorganized when it gets busy and results in long wait times and sometimes a mistake in your order. read more

My husband and I are so happy we found this place. We stop by two to three times a week! We really love this place. The staff is always nice and their juices and sandwiches are delicious. I am giving them a bad review for a few reasons. First, because the acai bowl I had today was halfway full and the banana was unripe. Second, they use plastic containers instead of biodegradable ones. My husband's sandwich was also in a plastic container. Third, I felt it was unsanitary because a homeless man was storing his belongings (sleeping bag, blankets, clothing, etc.) on the sidewalk right in front of the eatery close to where the tables are provided. read more

Really good food, but holy crap this place needs new management or something. Only come here if you can wait for 30 mins to get a smoothy. They take your name as though they will call it out when your food is ready, but then they just put the food on the counter randomly (and seemingly random order) and let the customers figure out what the food is and who it is for. They need some kind of system, particularly when it gets crowded. I even started coming here expecting to wait forever and just be patient but it seems to get worse and worse every time. read more

The low 2-star review is due to disorganization and inability to get orders right. An order number/name system would go a long way to solving this problem. During busy times it is always unclear who's drink or food is ready. Also, they never rarely get my order right (miss the blueberries on the acai bowl, miss the fruit instead of chips with my wrap, miss the request to add a lid, ...). I am sad to say I specifically created a Yelp account to review this business. I work in La Jolla so Juice Kaboose is very convenient to stop by on lunch. I have given this establishment one chances too many. Countless of times I have walked into this business and immediately felt I was being judged and unwelcomed. How hard is it to be a decent person and smile at your customer? How hard is it to apologize when an apology is needed? I believe an apology is needed after 30 minute wait for a smoothie. I keep returning as I love the sandwhiches and varieties of juices and smoothies, but no more! I am spending my hard earned money on this place to get treated with absolute disrespect and evilness! Get your business together and fire the whole team! These catty girls will cause your business to go down hill! Trust me, I have witnessed countless customers simply walk out. Great afternoon snack, but the consistency when I go is never the same. Some days it's really watery and not enough toppings and some days it's thicker. All in all the taste is good, but I think they need to work on the preparation and having them stay consistent throughout. read more

I am writing in regards to your unethical advertising practice. It's one of the worst ways to show your true business colors. In no way is this a personal attack, as I am sure outside of business, you're a very nice person. No where in the coupon does it say that a physical copy needs to be printed out, nor should that be assumed in the paperless day in age we live in. A 50% off a second Acai bowl is a very good deal. It's around a $5 savings.... Pretty tempting. Then your employees or told not to honor the coupon, in a day in age where CUSTOMER SERVICE should be the first priority. Very sad experience as I am sitting outside a vey nice juice bar, ran by very nice employees, in a very nice part of town, that I have to write this to you and get this off of my chest before being able to enjoy what looks like a high quality fruit bowl. My advice is to fix the coupon online and include ALL of the appropriate information (including which locations honor certain coupons), and to honor ANY coupon brought to you ever. read more

I have been a regular at Juice Kaboose in La Jolla for a very long time. I have never written a yelp review before, although I frequent the site for information. After my visit today, I felt obligated to write a review and give them 1 star. The service was horrendous. They are always busy on Saturday - no surprise. But they were incredibly rude to every customer, treating everyone as if they were pissed at them for coming in! I couldn't believe it as I watched them treat one customer after another as a number. And then, I watched them for the 15 minutes it took to get my drink and they were making apple juice with apples that they didn't wash and they still had the stickers on them! Into the juicer they would go which was so nasty dirty I couldn't believe it. Then the carrots - filthy. Not washed. The beats - same story. So I started to get totally grossed out. Then the woman making the Acai bowls was wiping her arm under her nose (she was sniffing so I assume she had a cold), fixed her hair and then with her bare hands kept slicing fruit. She continued to go to the back, get items out of the refrigerator under the counter, and kept going back with her filthy hands and cutting fruit. Gross. I will never go back. This place is going to have a salmonella out break due to the over all disgusting work habits and general filth and poor food handling techniques. I WILL NEVER GO BACK! read more
