I'm okay with a juice bar chain. Or do I mean, I'm mostly okay with THIS juice bar chain? They juice each drink to order. Their menu of drinks is interesting and tastes great. My problem? I own a juicer and it's turned me into a snob. Well, particular sounds nicer. I actually owned two, but my kitchen counter can only offer a home to one, so I kept my newer, slower RPM juicer because I primarily juice greens, and you need a slower model to get all of the nutrients out of the vegetables. I also only juice organic vegetables. If I'm going to be healthy, then I might as well not invite too many chemicals to my juice party. I say all of this because yes, I'm a juice nerd. Also, I don't think they use organic veggies, nor is anything seasonal. The juicers are high RPMs, but since I'm drinking the juice post haste, there's not really a degradation issue. (Just so you know: the faster the juicer, the more oxygen gets in the juice - this oxidizes the vitamins out of the juice at a faster rate.) So my issue with the price is that I can't get here what I can make at home. Spoiled, right? No, particular. I'm not really upset with the price, juicing is expensive, but having to pay about $9 for a non-organic juice makes me cringe a bit. I am trying to cut down on my carb intake, so I was going to try one of their veggie smoothies... but I just wasn't ready for juices called Veg-O-Might or Supa Dupa Greens. So I ended up sipping on a fruity, sugary drink called Pacific Pineapple, which tasted slightly watery, and watching a dude put in celeries and kales, one after another... it was like veggie porn. The only thing is the drinks can be inconsistent here, I get the supa dupa green since it's the only drink that's packed with spinach and kale but sometimes it tasted too sweet and I assume they added extra apples. I really struggled with the star rating on this one - I almost went with a three. However, it really is a five star product. That being said, this place is pricey and as others have said, the space cramped. Huge fan of the Supa Dupa Greens, the Joyful Almond and the Coco Acai bowl. Everything is delicious and fresh. I recently found Juice Generation and instantly knew I had to go in. They make fresh juices, smoothies, and have ready-made raw food meals and raw food treats and some other things. I got a green juice and tried the collard green enchiladas. It was expensive, but I was satisfied. I don't have any raw food restaurants, juice bars, or health food stores in my 'hood so I just have to take advantage when I'm near one. One thing I would change (besides the price) is adding some green smoothies to the menu. Why is it near impossible to find a juice/smoothie bar that makes them? read more

I love JG so I'm giving this 4 stars, but... Ladies, do yourself a favor, do NOT get the cooler cleanse raw food cleanse. I got physically ill after my first meal. It smelled a little off but I spent so much money on it that I tried to eat it anyway. When I called to ask for a partial refund or credit, they gave me the runaround, then argued with me, then told me I had hostile energy when I argued back. No cocern about making me sick or willingness to resolve the situation. Cooler cleanse people: if you spent all that money to get sick, then got the runaround, you would be feeling pretty cranky too. I am subtracting one star due to the extremely odd and uncalled for question and attitude of the female juice barista. after going to this location for years, out of the blue one day she asks me "are you a witch?" -- what the F sort of a question is that to ask someone, and mind you, you work in customer service? I politely said no, and ever since then I've gotten nothing but foul looks and it's as if *I* did something wrong. unbelievable! I still go for the juice and the convenience, but I am reminded that this millennial generation has fallen really far from customer service in general. it makes me feel old even writing this, but I have worked countless customer service jobs and not for the life of me can I imagine throwing such attitude after making a super off-color comment/question to a patron who spends hundreds of dollars a month at said establishment. Oh I am so happy, I have finally found a place in New York that has Acai bowls, which are my favorite semi-healthy snack!!!! Of course I used to whine and complain that the place in Houston I liked charged $6 for theirs, and the ones at Juice Generation are $8, but they are so good. I had the green one and while it was a shocking color, it tasted delicious (and healthy). If you think of the smoothie/bowl as a meal replacement, it isn't that outrageous. And I feel like at Juice Generation they use less fillers and quick burning sugars so you really can use one of their bowls as a meal. The guys who work there are very nice. It is a TINY place with the most awkward stools so I wouldn't want to hang around there but smoothies are so portable anyway. Thumbs up. read more

One suggestion for Juice Generation is to post nutritional information on the menu boards rather than in pamphlets by the cash register. Really good selections and they have gfree baked goods! The only bad thing is the wait for your order is really disorganized and sometimes seem like it's a free-for-all. The space is really cramped too so when there's a crowd of people who want their smoothies (like freakin' saturday afternoons), the pick-up area feels like you're in the middle of a busy souk. read more

I don't often go into Juice Generation for smoothies anymore, but when a debilitating cold hits me their Cold Warrior drink is my go-to when I'm trying to get better. It is a hot drink with green tea, orange juice, ginger, echinacea, vitamin c, zinc and raw agave. It feels great on a scratchy throat and I'm a total believer in zinc helping immune systems, so this drink is a lifesaver. read more

This place is pretty great. Maybe not the best ambiance in the world, considering you're adjacent to a gym, but if you're of the food-is-fuel mold, then this will do the trick. I found the smoothies refreshing, a decent selection of greens were available, and they do a good job with the cold-pressed juices. If you're a little more of a splurge person, there are ample puddings and desserts, to boot, with clean ingredients, although replete with high calories. As an aside, there's something un-zen about a smoothie bar, as I'm finding it somewhat 2010 now. A) Food is fuel misses the opportunity to savor the ingredients, the tastes, the textures, temperatures, smells, and sounds, b) on that last note, the grinding and smashing of the machines is not pleasant, and c) everything can be consumed so fast, and then what, off to the next work out, the job, the vacant stroll into space. read more

Totally disappointed by the management. I live on the same block, I have gone there for about 4 years and spent about $21 4 or 5 times a week, buying an acai bowl for me and a juice for my spouse. When a couple of new employees showed up, the atmosphere was completely different. Especially one asian guy who was always really rude. One day I went there to buy my usual PB acai and the same guy made me wait 20 MINUTES. When I got in the place was empty, then about 10 people entered and made their orders. They served everybody else and then me. When I complained about the long waiting time, the guy didn't say a word, not even a perfunctory apology, none, he actually looked at me as if he wanted to punch me in the face. I wrote the management about that and I received an answer that was complete BS, saying that they had to reblend the acai, that's why it took so long. If they had to reblend the acai, how come they kept serving acai bowls during those 20 minutes? There are so many other juice spots that just opened in a 2-block radius, including a Juicy Cube right across the street. I am better off bringing my business somewhere else. read more

I ordered a Muti v squeeze and coconut with banana. Both were really great. The coconut and banana one was really fun because it comes in a coconut, lots of people starred at me for walking around NYC with a coconut!
