4 stars for overall service and food. The ordering on the iPad was interesting as the menu was in Chinese. Thankful for the one line descriptions and photos to match. This hot spot, located on the first floor of Tangram Mall, is bustling with crowds on the weekends. They do not take reservations unless you want to book the private rooms or The Birdcage. There is a minimum spend to be in each room so choose wisely. The room we were seated in had a minimum spend of $500. Before you confirm your order, a staff member needs to come by and re-confirm your order, especially to ensure you spent the minimum. There were some very unique dishes and curiosity got the better of us - a few were hit or miss. The misses: hot mustard with cabbage, it was a spicy mustard (like wasabi kind of dry heat, where the heat clears your sinuses). And there was way too much mustard in general, on top. The other dish that was almost a miss, the plum cherry tomatoes. The tomatoes were sweet but skin was still on so the plum brine doesn't absorb too much into the tomato. This is an overall refreshing dish for the summer months since it's served cold. The hits: that full portion of Peking duck served in a fancy presentation like a jewelry trunk with drawers. Each compartment or drawer held a treasure to speak. The cut up duck meat, super moist, the garnish of julienned cucumbers and scallions, the delicious sauce and the fabulous crispy duck skin served over toast and topped with caviar. It was a sight indeed. Beautiful presentation. I also enjoyed the King Crab, this 4 pound beauty was cooked and served two ways. First, steamed crab meat legs with steamed eggs on a large plate. The second method was a stir-fry of more cut crab pieces. Well seasoned and tasted like a mixture of Old Bay seasoning and spices. The other favorite of the night was the pork meatball. While only one serving ordered, we managed to break it up with a spoon and everyone got to try it. The other stand out dish was the brisket and beef tendon. Very saucy and tender. I would have wanted to try their fish dishes but all were spicy or marked with a red pepper icon. Since it's a Beijing style menu, I would presume too spicy for my taste. The coolest feature of being in the private room, the motorized lazy Susan and of course, having privacy. Made our birthday banquet much more enjoyable so that we didn't have to sit in the loud, main dining area.
Felt like stepping back into Beijing and tasting a perfect roast duck from those that perfected it for centuries. Located in the new mall in the heart of flushing queens with all your favorites from Asia housed in one place. Parking is awful and there is a lot located in the basement. Pricey but who cares when it's stressful on the streets. The food and service is as perfect. The seafood rice was alright, the orange beef was a 10/10. And of course the duck was perfect. Definitely do the whole duck where you get it done 3 ways for the table. Cheers
Didn't know what to expect except reading the reviews of interesting looking food options. Was greeted with a friendly server - Yoko, who ended up making us appreciate our experience with his down to earth service and personality. Soft spoken with a hint of fun levity. Our order consisted of half a Peking duck, cauliflower, and black fried rice that was set a blazed for a fiery cool effect. The unexpected was further experienced when the remaining part of the duck that wasn't used in our initial order (with pancakes) was used and put in a soup. The soup was great because it was overly salty and served with tofu. Place is decorated in modern antique theme of a Beijing opera house. They had Chinese opera playing softly in the background. So yes I recommend this place for an overall positive experience. A little on the pricey side they treat you well.
Cuisine: 6 Service: 7 Decor: 8 Value: 3 Overall: 6 If you're looking for the best Peking Duck in NYC, then stop your search and come here. Imho, the version this Beijing (formerly Peking) franchise offers is the closest to what I enjoy in China. Is it worth the price? That's for you to decide. It's expensive if compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area, but almost considered a bargain compared to whole duck options in westernized restaurants all over the city. For me, I stop by every once in a while because it is worth the splurge for me. Another reason why I come to Juqi is the beautiful decor, especially their private rooms and the semi-private bird cage table. My family has celebrated a couple special occasions here, and they all loved the environment. Unfortunately, that's where my praises for this restaurant ends. First of all, everything is too expensive. Check the local Dongbei restaurants in Flushing and most of them charge 20-40% less for the same dishes. More importantly, it's not any better in quality or taste. Some of the dishes look fancier, especially the desserts, and that's what you are paying for. Keep that in mind and you will have a decent experience.
I came here this afternoon for a solo lunch and left thoroughly impressed. I ordered half a Peking duck, braised wheat gluten with shrimp, and XO sauce seafood fried rice--definitely more than enough for one person! Every dish was beautifully executed and full of flavor. The wheat gluten puffs with shrimp were especially memorable and reminded me of dishes I grew up enjoying in China. The Peking duck was the standout--the skin perfectly crisp, light, and delicate, paired with tender, flavorful meat. Wrapped in the paper-thin pancakes, each bite was balanced and satisfying without feeling greasy. I ended up taking the fried rice home, and the staff kindly offered to turn the duck bones into a tofu and cabbage soup to go--a thoughtful touch that really elevated the experience. Service was just as impressive: professional, attentive, and efficient from start to finish. A flawless meal overall--I'll absolutely be back to explore more of the menu.
Food was beautifully presented and definitely very good but we quickly ran out of room due to the size of the serving dishes and kept on consolidating other dishes on our table to make more room. It may have also been us over ordering but pacing would have helped so we as the diners don't feel rushed. If you are going with a party of 4, it may be wise to ask for a table that seats 6 so this doesn't happen to you. Out of all the dishes we tried, the seafood vermicelli, fried prawns, and crispy shrimp balls were the highlights. The Peking Duck was fine, didn't stand out as much as the other items. Not pictured here was the fish filet in sauerkraut soup which was super spicy and my friends really enjoyed. Cocktails were delish! I would consider this type of meal, a fancy Chinese dinner if you wanted to impress family/friends as I would consider it overpriced.
One of the best pecking duck places I've tried so far. They display the pecking duck in the wooden box and show you how to wrap your pecking duck with the other ingredients nicely. They also provide gloves so you don't dirty your hands. The leftover bones from the duck can be turned into one of three choices: 1) stir fry 2) salt and pepper 3) soup. I haven't tried option 1 and 2 yet but #3 is sooo good, especially at the end of your meal. Aside from the pecking duck, which is what they're known for, all dishes were yummy. and I would highly recommend coming here to try.
We tried to get into this restaurant for two days in a row and finally got in. It's a big hype for sure. We ordered an array of dishes to try as a family and it was all very mediocre. It did not amaze me for what the hype is. The duck was very crispy, but bland. Everything here is about presentation. For the duck- it came out whole and a chef cut it up in front of us and played it on a box. They deep rid some of the skin and put caviar on top and served. Flaming fried rice- it was purple rice- pretty bland. Nothing special but the flames. All the other dishes were also bland and everything tasted like szechuan peppers. Ambiance- very cute and Asian inspired esthetics. Customer service, was always there when we needed them because we were place right next to their service table where they stand. Nice experience, but I would not go back.

Came here for my birthday and it was great! It wasn't excellent like omg but it was def great. We had the crispy tofu which I liked a lot! The beef was eh, can def skip as it was a bit too sweet for my liking. The chicken was amazing and I would def order again. Peking duck was good and they come with soup as well for the left over bones! The fried rice was pretty standard and all in all I was satisfied but want wowed. The service was great and the decor was spacious. Def great for parties or 4! read more

Cute location inside of tangram mall. We ordered half peking duck, cold chili oil chicken, eggplant, xo fried rice, and the milk cube drink. Chili oil chicken was good and very flavorful. Xo fried rice was okay - didn't really have too much xo sauce flavor but had a good amount of seafood inside. Eggplant was actually our favorite dish - so crispy and the sauce was amazing. Pekkng duck was just okay- the duck by itself did not have much flavor but tasted good inside of the wrap w all the side dishes and sauce. The drink was overpriced at $12 and just tasted like milk - wish it had more coconut flavor. Basically just paying for the pretty presentation. Service was quick. read more

The Peking duck was delicious, though the skin was a bit on the fatty side. You can choose to have the remaining duck prepared as either a stir-fry or a soup--we went with the soup, and it was excellent. The staff were also very nice and friendly, which made the experience even more enjoyable. read more

I've been to Juqi twice and the food is honestly pretty mediocre. Nothing especially memorable, and definitely not worth the high prices. What really surprised me was how fast everything came out. Our dishes arrived about 5 minutes after we ordered, which makes it feel like most of the food is prepared ahead of time and reheated. I don't mind premade food if the pricing matches and they are upfront about it, but it feels off when they charge so much and advertise everything as freshly made to order. It just doesn't match the experience. There are definitely better options in Flushing at this price point. read more

No reservation...just walked in on the earlier side of a Monday afternoon. Juqi has been on my list for quite some time because I just love duck. Peking duck is one of my favorite meals to have and Juqi is known for having some of the best duck. Located in Tangram mall, this space is deceiving. There is ample amount of seating with VIP rooms including a bird cage where you can dine in. We had dumplings and an order of the half duck. We didn't get the caviar or the presentation, but I ain't mad about it! The duck was incredible. You know when you're so full but you can't stop yourself because it's just that good. I kept going back for more. We did get a table-side tutorial on how to make a proper portion with the pancake, but after a while we just did our own thing. You also get to choose what you want to do with the bones and left over after. You can get it in a soup or fried. We went with the fried, which was incredible itself. It's simply fried with salt, pepper and what I undertake to be cumin. Absolutely amazing. I hear the soup is just as good if not better. Service was so good, only they aren't that friendly rather they are straight to business, which is delicious duck. And I can appreciate that. Here's to Juqi and another great spot in Tangram. read more

Came here as a party of 4 on a Monday night and we were probably one of the last seatings of the night. The signature peking duck which is what they are famous for was not crispy, fatty, tasteless and tbh an absolute miss for us. Their fried eggplant was cut so thin and so heavily breaded my husband mistakenly thought it was fried fish. Their braised pig stomach was probably the dish I enjoyed the most but it was very pricey for a small pot that was mixed with dried tofu. Their dan dan noodles was too "beany" for my taste and not saucy enough to mix with the noodles. We ordered a few more dishes but nothing was memorable and overall too expensive for mediocre food. I don't think we will come back for another try. read more

When we asked our friends where to eat in New York, a bunch recommended Juqi. So of course we needed to try it out. Now every time we come to the City, we make a trip out to Flushing. Our favorite is the Peking Duck. When you order a whole duck, they carve it table side. The half duck has no such service. So I recommend that you bring more people for the whole duck. The ducks taste delicious--like the ones from Beijing. The presentation is beautiful. The vegetables are another highlight. The cauliflower, tofu skin, and shredded tofu dishes are all great. Services is impeccable. Overall, I see why my Chinese friends recommend this restaurant. read more

The restaurant's decor transports you to ancient China (if you ignore the 50" LCDs hanging on the wall and iPad menus waiting for you at the table). The seating isn't the most comfortable, but the tables are roomy. The ducks is the highlight; delicious crispy skin prepared table side. Plenty of duck for three people. We also got the Vancouver Crab; amazing dish! Service is friendly. Super helpful with teaching how to wrap the Peking duck. read more

price - $200 including tax and tip food - 5/5 service - 5/5 ambiance - 5/5 this restaurant has been on my list for a while now. they have amazing food!!! i got their peking duck, beijing noodles, and litchi shrimp balls. they also gave us free starters to cleanse our taste palate. i loveeeee their litchi shrimp balls so much! the outside is crunchy but the inside is moist and shrimpy! i definitely recommend getting this! its such a nice picture worthy food too! their peking duck was perfect too! one part comes with bread and caviar, another part is just the peking duck and the last part is a stir fried peking duck with salt and pepper! its so nice how they gave us the option between stir frying or boiling it in a soup. i definitely recommend the stir fry! lastly their beijing noodles were pretty good and flavorful! theres definitely a herbal flavor and taste to this noodle as well, so definitely beware of that! the service was amazing too! my friend is pregnant and they even gave her a pillow to sit with, so that was really sweet! the ambiance is amazing! it feels like im stepping straight into china! if you stop by tangram, definitely consider coming here for lunch or dinner! read more
This place has the best entrance to a restaurant that I have seen in years! The ambiance inside is incredible but the real star here is truly the duck! Full stop! Best in NYC! Very solid Beijing restaurant in Flushing's Tangram Mall. Went there on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and was able to be seated quickly. The interior was nice and spacious, I was definitely surprised with how large it was - it even has private dining rooms. Our table was set up with some light snacks which were all delicious. Similarly, the dishes that we ordered (mouth water chicken, kung pao beef, and the shredded pork) did not disappoint. It was definitely very heavy on flavor but the food tasted great. The service was also attentive here making sure that we were good and helped with recommendations for our order. I would recommend Juqi and will be back to try their Peking Duck which is quite popular. read more

Delicious, beautifully presented Peking duck. We ordered: -whole Peking duck in treasure chest: came with duck skin on toast topped with caviar, whole sliced Peking duck with wrappers and toppings (scallion, sugar, sauce, cantaloupe) and your choice of what to do with the duck bones. I chose the soup which came with some duck bones and tofu. -seafood vermicelli: tasty and had tons of seafood. Loved the celery in this dish. Service was really good. Great place to bring your family for a nice dinner. Would definitely come back again! One of my top places for Peking duck! read more

We had a great experience at Juqi. They serve traditional Beijing dishes with a modern twist. The plating was very impressive. The flavor of each dish was also great. The peking duck was the star of the show and they also prepared the rest of the carcass into a duck soup for us (they offer a few options). The atmosphere was pleasant, each table had its own little section so there wasn't much noise or chatter. Ther service was friendly and attentive. You order on the iPad so if you don't read Chinese it may be a bit difficult to navigate the iPad. The waiter will help if needed! It also sounded like they had a very lively birthday song and presentation. read more

Love this spot though front desk and reservations here are always a mess. Even if you make a reservation, expect to wait at least 15-30min. I also tried calling once and someone who called herself "Hot Pot" told me they couldn't take my res (for 4 people) and that they'd "definitely have seats", but when we arrived, they told us it was completely reserved.. Putting all this frustration aside, the food is pretty and very tasty. I really like the shrimp "lychee" balls (called that bc of the shape not bc there is any fruit in it), jajangmian and their fried eggplant. They're known for their peking duck which I can't eat bc I'm pescatarian but my fam likes. It comes with the thin skin wrap which is rare in the US and I felt teleported back to Asia. Overall very yummy but don't come expecting great service. read more

Located in the new shopping center at Flushing, Juqi servers upscale Chinese classics with great service. I would recommend making a reservation before you go since this place is still quite popular, but going early and putting your name down is also a viable option. We ordered: * Okra In Garlic Sauce - 9/10: delicious okra dish that really highlights the vegetable * Mustardy Chinese Cabbage - 9/10: this ones probably more of an acquired taste since it's very horseradish-y, but I really enjoyed it * Signature Peking Duck - 10/10: the start of the show, the skin was crispy and the meat was juicy and delicious * Smoked Pork Knuckles - 10/10: just as good as the duck which was a surprise to me * Mashed Potato - 5/10: I think people just order this because it looks cute, but it doesn't taste that great * Squid Ink Fried Rice - 8/10: not pictured, but they set it ablaze which looks cool - the fried rice itself was solid Definitely worth trying out if you're in the area, just make to sure to plan ahead since it's very popular! read more

Of course they have an English menu. They also speak English as well
I see there is a half Beijing duck for $59. As a solo diner, can i order this and get the full experience with buns, crispy skin, soup etc served in multiple courses?
You will not get the entire experience as with getting the whole duck. With the half, you will only get the steam wraps along side the duck. You will then get to choose btwn the soup or the fried bones. So you get a two course meal.
Is the menu only in Chinese or is there a menu in English so that people who are not so fluent with mandarin can order?
