4 stars for overall service and food. The ordering on the iPad was interesting as the menu was in Chinese. Thankful for the one line descriptions and photos to match. This hot spot, located on the first floor of Tangram Mall, is bustling with crowds on the weekends. They do not take reservations unless you want to book the private rooms or The Birdcage. There is a minimum spend to be in each room so choose wisely. The room we were seated in had a minimum spend of $500. Before you confirm your order, a staff member needs to come by and re-confirm your order, especially to ensure you spent the minimum. There were some very unique dishes and curiosity got the better of us - a few were hit or miss. The misses: hot mustard with cabbage, it was a spicy mustard (like wasabi kind of dry heat, where the heat clears your sinuses). And there was way too much mustard in general, on top. The other dish that was almost a miss, the plum cherry tomatoes. The tomatoes were sweet but skin was still on so the plum brine doesn't absorb too much into the tomato. This is an overall refreshing dish for the summer months since it's served cold. The hits: that full portion of Peking duck served in a fancy presentation like a jewelry trunk with drawers. Each compartment or drawer held a treasure to speak. The cut up duck meat, super moist, the garnish of julienned cucumbers and scallions, the delicious sauce and the fabulous crispy duck skin served over toast and topped with caviar. It was a sight indeed. Beautiful presentation. I also enjoyed the King Crab, this 4 pound beauty was cooked and served two ways. First, steamed crab meat legs with steamed eggs on a large plate. The second method was a stir-fry of more cut crab pieces. Well seasoned and tasted like a mixture of Old Bay seasoning and spices. The other favorite of the night was the pork meatball. While only one serving ordered, we managed to break it up with a spoon and everyone got to try it. The other stand out dish was the brisket and beef tendon. Very saucy and tender. I would have wanted to try their fish dishes but all were spicy or marked with a red pepper icon. Since it's a Beijing style menu, I would presume too spicy for my taste. The coolest feature of being in the private room, the motorized lazy Susan and of course, having privacy. Made our birthday banquet much more enjoyable so that we didn't have to sit in the loud, main dining area.
Felt like stepping back into Beijing and tasting a perfect roast duck from those that perfected it for centuries. Located in the new mall in the heart of flushing queens with all your favorites from Asia housed in one place. Parking is awful and there is a lot located in the basement. Pricey but who cares when it's stressful on the streets. The food and service is as perfect. The seafood rice was alright, the orange beef was a 10/10. And of course the duck was perfect. Definitely do the whole duck where you get it done 3 ways for the table. Cheers
Didn't know what to expect except reading the reviews of interesting looking food options. Was greeted with a friendly server - Yoko, who ended up making us appreciate our experience with his down to earth service and personality. Soft spoken with a hint of fun levity. Our order consisted of half a Peking duck, cauliflower, and black fried rice that was set a blazed for a fiery cool effect. The unexpected was further experienced when the remaining part of the duck that wasn't used in our initial order (with pancakes) was used and put in a soup. The soup was great because it was overly salty and served with tofu. Place is decorated in modern antique theme of a Beijing opera house. They had Chinese opera playing softly in the background. So yes I recommend this place for an overall positive experience. A little on the pricey side they treat you well.

Imho, the version this Beijing (formerly Peking) franchise offers is the closest to what I enjoy in China. Is it worth the price? That's for you to decide. It's expensive if compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area, but almost considered a bargain compared to whole duck options in westernized restaurants all over the city. For me, I stop by every once in a while because it is worth the splurge for me. Another reason why I come to Juqi is the beautiful decor, especially their private rooms and the semi-private bird cage table. My family has celebrated a couple special occasions here, and they all loved the environment. Unfortunately, that's where my praises for this restaurant ends. First of all, everything is too expensive. Check the local Dongbei restaurants in Flushing and most of them charge 20-40% less for the same dishes. More importantly, it's not any better in quality or taste. Some of the dishes look fancier, especially the desserts, and that's what you are paying for. Keep that in mind and you will have a decent experience.
I came here this afternoon for a solo lunch and left thoroughly impressed. I ordered half a Peking duck, braised wheat gluten with shrimp, and XO sauce seafood fried rice--definitely more than enough for one person! Every dish was beautifully executed and full of flavor. The wheat gluten puffs with shrimp were especially memorable and reminded me of dishes I grew up enjoying in China. The Peking duck was the standout--the skin perfectly crisp, light, and delicate, paired with tender, flavorful meat. Wrapped in the paper-thin pancakes, each bite was balanced and satisfying without feeling greasy. I ended up taking the fried rice home, and the staff kindly offered to turn the duck bones into a tofu and cabbage soup to go--a thoughtful touch that really elevated the experience. Service was just as impressive: professional, attentive, and efficient from start to finish. A flawless meal overall--I'll absolutely be back to explore more of the menu.
Food was beautifully presented and definitely very good but we quickly ran out of room due to the size of the serving dishes and kept on consolidating other dishes on our table to make more room. It may have also been us over ordering but pacing would have helped so we as the diners don't feel rushed. If you are going with a party of 4, it may be wise to ask for a table that seats 6 so this doesn't happen to you. Out of all the dishes we tried, the seafood vermicelli, fried prawns, and crispy shrimp balls were the highlights. The Peking Duck was fine, didn't stand out as much as the other items. Not pictured here was the fish filet in sauerkraut soup which was super spicy and my friends really enjoyed. Cocktails were delish! I would consider this type of meal, a fancy Chinese dinner if you wanted to impress family/friends as I would consider it overpriced.
One of the best pecking duck places I've tried so far. They display the pecking duck in the wooden box and show you how to wrap your pecking duck with the other ingredients nicely. They also provide gloves so you don't dirty your hands. The leftover bones from the duck can be turned into one of three choices: 1) stir fry 2) salt and pepper 3) soup. I haven't tried option 1 and 2 yet but #3 is sooo good, especially at the end of your meal. Aside from the pecking duck, which is what they're known for, all dishes were yummy. and I would highly recommend coming here to try.
We tried to get into this restaurant for two days in a row and finally got in. It's a big hype for sure. We ordered an array of dishes to try as a family and it was all very mediocre. It did not amaze me for what the hype is. The duck was very crispy, but bland. Everything here is about presentation. For the duck- it came out whole and a chef cut it up in front of us and played it on a box. They deep rid some of the skin and put caviar on top and served. Flaming fried rice- it was purple rice- pretty bland. Nothing special but the flames. All the other dishes were also bland and everything tasted like szechuan peppers. Ambiance- very cute and Asian inspired esthetics. Customer service, was always there when we needed them because we were place right next to their service table where they stand. Nice experience, but I would not go back.
Came on a weekday, there was no wait. Food was so so, but the service was great. If you order the Beijing Peking duck, they will make a soup out of the bones which was quite nice. Came here after seeing videos on Instagram and like most Instagram places, it ended up being more focused on looks than actual flavour. We came on a Wednesday night and it was busy but we were seated without much wait. The servers were slow to bring water and utensils to the table. My friends, who were not Asian, came and said it was incredibly difficulty to order and I can see why. The menus is almost entirely in Chinese and I personally can't read Chinese but can speak Mandarin so I asked for some help with the menu at the server was very obviously annoyed. We ordered the duck which was cut in front of us, displayed and plated beautifully but the duck was very dry and tasteless. The duck bone soup was extremely peppery. We got the mashed potatoes with mayo and we were extremely surprised that it was served cold. Chunks of mashed potatoes in thick mayo was very unappetizing. The fried intestines were honestly the best part of the meal. Nicely seasoned with a good level of spice. The flaming rice was fun to watch but it was super hot on the outside and Luke warm on the inside. Fun to look at but nothing particularly special. We came here for a joint mothers and fathers day dinner, since my parents grew up in Beijing. My mom really loves this place and gets excited every time we come. The interior is nostalgic and beautiful, full of Beijing details. They have a large selection of dishes, some more traditionally Beijing style and some with a modern/fancy twist. Here's what we thought about each dish 炒肝儿 stewed liver: Good texture and tender liver, a bit salty and we wish there were more intestines 北京味道 tastes of Beijing appetizer platter: Pretty good, tender meat and tasty veggies 卤煮火烧 bittern flapjack: Really delicious. It comes with intestines, lung, tofu, pancake, etc.. Super flavorful and tender meats, my favorite!!! 狮子头 braised pork balls: Very tender and tasty, meaty but not too oily/heavy 烤鸭 peking duck: Super delicious, like the ones in Beijing. Tender meat and crispy skin, very thin pancakes and yummy sauce. We wish it came with more toppings though 鸭汤 duck soup: Amazing white color and duck flavor, light flavor with napa cabbage and tofu. 老北京酸奶 Beijing yogurt: Lightly sweet and sour with osmanthus syrup on top. A perfect tasty ending to our feast It's definitely an elevated experience, and I would probably only come here for special occasions, but I think it was well worth it. Ordered sesame paste cabbage, bittern flapjack, barbecue lamb, lucky bag, and half a duck. The roast duck was hands down one of the best I've had in the US - the wrappers were thin and the duck skin was perfectly crispy. The service from the waiters is excellent and they will even demonstrate how to wrap the duck wraps. Overall, highly recommend this restaurant for Beijing style Chinese food. Didn't catch a picture of the duck, but added pictures of everything else. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice as well and reminds me of older Chinese traditional decor. read more

We absolutely enjoyed the all of food selection. They were excellent, very tasty. The Peking Duck was the highlight of the meal. The skin was crunchy. I went back again with more people and was able to order the duck chest and book the birdcage table. However, there was misunderstanding, and I was told that there was a $300 minimum to book the birdcage table, but after we ordered, our server told us that it's a $388 minimum. I just didn't see the five of us eating that much food. So I told them to switch the table, but they said it was OK and we could stay. Which was nice, but the restaurant was not crowded like the first time I went. (far from it at noon) The table was very cool and automatically spun slowly to serve everyone. However, I found it a little annoying when you're trying to build a duck wrap and the ingredients keep getting away from you. Most of the food was very good, but my biggest complaint would be the food came way too fast. We were overwhelmed, and the table was crowded and our food was getting cold. Other than that, we had a pretty great meal. The duck was delicious as usual, fat beautifully rendered. The caviar with duck skin over toast was OK, couldn't really taste the caviar. The sea cucumber and tendon dish was tasty, but there was barely any sea cucumber in it. The pork belly dish was quite flavorful as well, but we were so full, we couldn't even tell if it tasted good. (We ordered this to make the $300 minimum) The lamb stirfry was run-of-the-mill, tasty but nothing special. However, the shrimp balls were beautifully presented, and tasted really good as well. I didn't really enjoy the mahjong dessert flavor wise, but the presentation was beautiful. Now, after trying almost everything on the menu that I wanted to try, I'll definitely be back, but only for the Peking duck and that delicious duck soup. And maybe... to try their dumplings and noodles for lunch. read more

The Peking duck was a total miss. Very disappointing for the price. Like, the concept sounds like it can work but it is not tastebuds friendly so people should avoid. In fact, when we ordered it people at the table next to us were staring and laughing because our table was another sucker that fell for the the gimmick. The server asked if we want the remaining duck in soup or fried, and we choose soup which was pretty good. The chili pepper chicken was a little bland but help negate the mediocreness of the Peking duck. And dessert gets better! The Beijing style yogurt was delicious and the tofu custard in a peach shape was fun to crack. read more

I hate to give them a 2 star because the Peking duck was actually really good and they are probably overstaffed and service is really good but I have to deduct 3 stars because 1. I saw an employee go i to the bathroom, do her business and came out without washing her hands. 2. We were seated near the entry and the receptionist was on the phone for more than half of our meal and used the speaker phone. It was annoying and took away from our fine dining experience to hear Chinese language blasting on the phone while we are trying to conversate and eat. If it wasn't for those two issues then I would have given it a five stars but u can't call yourself an upscale Chinese spot and do that. Wish I didn't have to write this but it's very annoying and I lost my appetite:(. Would recommend the duck. On point. read more

I see there is a half Beijing duck for $59. As a solo diner, can i order this and get the full experience with buns, crispy skin, soup etc served in multiple courses?
You will not get the entire experience as with getting the whole duck. With the half, you will only get the steam wraps along side the duck. You will then get to choose btwn the soup or the fried bones. So you get a two course meal.
Is the menu only in Chinese or is there a menu in English so that people who are not so fluent with mandarin can order?
