He wanted to give it to his "neighbor" mechanics to fix it for cheaper labor but my brand new car deserves the dealership. The shop did admit fault and agreed to pay, but I'm still waiting on the check he gave me to process in my bank, which has been frustratingly slow. What makes it worse is how avoidable this was. This isn't a complex custom job--it's a basic exhaust install that any competent shop should be able to handle without issues. Damaging a fuel tank is a serious mistake, not just a small slip-up. Just putting this out there so others are aware. If you're planning to get work done here, especially on a newer car, I'd be cautious and ask a lot of questions upfront.
