Low country broil was so good, drinks were awesome, even the kids loved their food and behaved! Service was excellent.

The food was great, excellent quality ingredients. The service was lovely, friendly and kind. Sweet tea was wonderful, always a good bellwether for a restaurant. The cheesecake was the best we've had outside of NYC. Not too sweet, rich and perfectly baked, made by their pastry chef in house. We will definitely go there again. read more

Small quaint decor, like a lobster shack. Food is generously proportioned. Great lobster rolls, great potato skins, terrific seafood boil with mussels, crab legs, sausage, potatoes, and corn. Prices are reasonable. Very personable and friendly manager. Service is excellent. read more

Visiting the area for the weekend and since we love all types of seafood we thought we would check this place out. Really cute inside. Casual and comfortable. It was a Friday night and they had live music. A young lady playing guitar and singing. Added to the comfortable atmosphere as it was not too loud so we could still hear each other. Started with the green lip mussels appetizer. The sauce was rich and creamy. I thought it might overpower the delicate mussels but it actually worked really well. Then we had the swordfish fish special. Really impressed. The swordfish was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Really impressed with the veggie sides. I love my veggies and at most places it seems they don't really care about the veggies. Here the broccoli and asparagus were perfectly done with a lovely roasted flavor. Also 5 stars for our server Kim who was sweet and friendly and took good care of us. We will definitely return when in the area again! read more

A nice little gem in Tryon! We were greeted by a friendly staff, who was also appropriately attentive during dinner. The food did not disappoint! We started with mini crab cakes as an appetizer; nicely prepared and very tasty. My wife had the halibut blackened which was cooked just right. I had the corvina which was pan seared and also perfectly prepared. Both fish were moist and flakey. Sides were also good portions and very tasty. ***3.5 stars, but rounding up to 4 I really want this restaurant to succeed and am really excited about the prospect of having access to fresh seafood. Don't fault me for this, but I lived in Maryland nearly 30 years (it was my dad's last duty station, and I remained there for college and work)... So, needless to say, I am well versed in what a crab cake should taste like. I've been to some of the best haunts - mostly hole in the wall places - to get them, or to pick crabs. So, when we went to KD's Sea Shack, I ordered them as a test. The flavor was good, but I really couldn't find any crab in them. It was all filler, and very much like a very nice Thanksgiving stuffing with a hint of crab flavor. The potato salad and slaw on the other hand was outstanding. My husband's meal - holy moly. He ordered the lobster roll (or lobstah in Maine), and it was full of claw meat and huge chunks of lobster. It was worth the $21. The atmosphere is nice, and the behind the bar staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. I think the prices are a bit high on some items. For example - in Maryland, a full pound lump crab cake at Stoney Creek Inn (featured on Diners, Drive Ins, & Dives) with very little (like--just enough to bind the huge pieces of crab together) was about $30 (and enough for two people). It's $27 here and about 1/3 of the size. All of that said, I am rooting for this place. We will revisit down the road to see how they're doing. read more

Decided to give this place a try. Have to say was pleasantly surprised. The interior decor is something you'd find on the coast, so you definitely don't feel like your in Tryon. I had the Low Country Boil and it was loaded with seafood and was super tasty. Wife had the Spicy Shrimp skewers and a salad which she said was awesome and the dressing for the salad seemed homemade. The waitress was super friendly and knew the menu. She also was attentive and kept our drinks topped off. The host was also great and made us feel very welcome. We went on a Sunday, so it was slow but there were a handful of tables going. Also the bar was lively and it seemed like there were some known locals having a good time. Definitely nice to have something different and good. Will be coming back again. read more

I'm not really sure why I am even giving two stars, I guess I'm trying to be nice. We waited over 10 minutes for someone to come to the table to take a drink order which took another 20 minutes to get. We ordered appetizers, clams casino and crab cakes. The crab cakes were cold and the clams were over cooked and dry. The waitress brought someone else's food to our table and sat it down. We said it wasn't ours so she left it there while she went to find out who's food it was then brought it to them. There were three of us and one person ordered a drink from the bar. We had to ask the waitress three times about the drink before it finally came 15 minutes after being ordered. We had a 6:30 reservation and got there a few minutes early. We finally got our food at 7:20. One order was missing fries, and the roll for the lobster roll was hard. The fries never came and she brought the bill and cleared away all our drinks even though we were not finished. Just an observation but not one person in there looked like they actually knew what they were doing. read more

This was our 4th or 5th trip here as one of our go to places even though it's a 45 min drive. We took our friends again as a table of 4. Across the board all of our dishes were a fail. Specifically the Lobster Mac & Cheese ($28), always a favorite, was horrible-dry, little cheese, only maybe a teaspoon of sauce, and small lobster pieces. The fish & chips ($16) my wife ordered, had only 3 pieces of fish each smaller than a steakhouse fry. Very under sized this trip and both dishes little flavor. No customary decent size piece of battered fish as received in restaurants. Our friend's choices were flavorless as well, small portions not normal for this place. We arrived at 5:45, so this wasn't late on Saturday night. Sadly this will come off our go to list. read more

Had high hopes just because this area is lacking a good seafood restaurant. Unfortunately it missed on the preparation and quality. I want to make sure readers understand my review is based on just the appetizers we had and on the price tag of the menu. We had four apetizers and an order of fries, no drinks. Bill was over $70 with tip. Prices are, for this area, closer to fine dining vs hole in the wall. Let me start with the location: Quaint place, owners gave it a North Main fishing town feeling, but came up a little short. Could of used a bit more of that fisherman town decor. More wood on the walls and ceiling. But not a big deal. Service: Manager was attentive, waitress on her game except not well educated in the preparation of certain menu items when asked. No big issue either. Food: Ordered Green lip mussels in garlic sauce. Ate one and half of the mussel was refrigerator cold. Sauce was just butter with lots of chunks of garlic and salt. Asked them to redo and they simply reheated the plate. Did not bother to replace the cold eaten mussel. The mussels where not cooked in the sauce, They seemed to be thawed out and thrown in warm garlic and butter. Mussels were nice size, but no flavor and on half shell which lends me to belive these were frozen packaged mussels. Spicy shrimp skewers: Nice portion, good flavor but would of loved a different seasoning then just old bay. Clams Casino: flavorfull but overcooked and dried. Probably due to the small size clams used. They were smaller little neck clams. Fried Clam strips: Loved these. they were nicely golden, not too much batter and on point. Side of fries: Very good, a bit too salty, but fresh cut and nicely seasoned with parm. I have no issues paying good money for good food. But I do have a big issue paying for average food at these prices. Really hope owners will revisit quality of sourced ingredients and preparation. Will be back when we see a change. read more

This place has a nice ambiance, and they open when they say they're open. Prices are high for the food. Service is friendly but slow. The kitchen has yet to get my order right. I'm guessing its the kitchen as the servers have each time been able to read back the correct order before I stated the error. It is clean. Hopefully, these things will improve. read more

It's nice to read all the good reviews but we'll never know how the food is. A group of 11 showed up for dinner at 8 pm and was told it was too late for them to order. The restaurant closes at 9 pm.Tryon is in need of a good dependable restaurant. read more

We had eaten lunch here in the past and it was OK. We brought some friends from out of town for a nice dinner on 7/5/24, but the entire experience was absolutely horrible! One of our friends ordered a simple hamburger, medium. It was not edible - totally raw. The waiter took it, then brought it back in the same raw state. Our friend said to just take it away so she didn't even get to eat anything. The lobster role others had had very little lobster, didn't taste good, and was overpriced. My salad looked like they ran to the grocery store and threw together some carrots and lettuce that weren't even fresh. Then, the waitress was all bubbly saying she didn't even charge for the hamburger! Like, what??? They should have not charged for the whole dinner for the 4 of us. And the manager, whom we had had a good conversation with during our previous lunch, seemed to cower away and offered a weak apology. What a terrible experience. read more

We were driving through Tryon and I saw a "hole in the wall" restaurant called KD's sea shack and we decided to try it we got an appetizer of mini crab cakes then I got snow crab seasoned fries and broccoli while my father got Lobster roll with fries and coleslaw the menu was decently priced for fresh seafood but other than that It was awesome food was good service was good and best of all there wasn't that many people in there they had a bar with a great selection and if you ordered crab you would get a bucket to put your scraps in They even sang happy birthday to me So thanks to them for great service and great food i can wait to see them prosper and expand read more

Have a desire for Seafood? This IS the place to go!! They are a quaint, small restaurant and you can feel comfortable in casual dress. I ordered the snow crabs, broccoli and fries. DELICIOUS!
