Soooo seeing all the previous reviews makes sense now. My boyfriend and I recently went for a friend's birthday celebration. It was just us 4 (her and her boyfriend as well). We each bought 2 races. Then ordered food while we waited to race. The food took FOREVER to come out - and mind you there was barely anyone there (it was a weekday night). 45 mins went by and our food finally came. They said they were short-staffed... but it takes almost an hour to melt cheese on chips and heat up frozen chicken tenders? Mkay. Once it was time to race, the woman (Shane or Shaun - I don't remember which one but yes that is her name), she gave us a whole like 10 min schpeel about how racers from around the world come to this place, there's no drifting cars when driving, no bumping or ramming other cars, they watch us closely, etc and how they can tell the difference between accidentally trying to squeeze through a pocket to pass or legit trying to bump someone. She made it seem like K1 Speed was serious about it. We get our helmets on, get to our cars and strap in. Mind you, during the entire schpeel, there's this maybe 9? 10? year old curly haired boy, doing tasks like he works there. Getting his gear, using the computer, etc. My group and I were like does this kid work here?! So we get to driving, and this kid is RAMMING AND BUMPING EVERYONE. Now, I get it if it was an accident and you wave your hand to say sorry as you go by (which did happen) but he just rammed into my car, my friends' cars and others. My boyfriend said it happened to him and he did it back. That kid was SOO annoying. I told a worker about it and the worker said that that kid is an ASSHOLE. So apparently this kid acts like he runs the place. I don't know if he's the owner's kid or what. But after that first race, I didn't want to do the second. Thankfully the kid didn't race in the second so my group enjoyed the race a lot better that time. All and all, this place could be more fun, cooler, FRIENDLIER. This place is HORRID! Several times we have driven out there (over an hour away) and had been turned away. Every time we had called, we were advised that a reservation was not necessary. Once arriving, we were asked if we had a reservation (even though told we didn't need one), and were turned away due to not having one. Today, we called to make a reservation so we no longer run into this issue, and we were told that we cannot make one because we do not have enough people in our party! We've been to other K1 locations and this location in Burbank is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. The saying goes: it starts from the top. The manager is absolutely incapable of managing her staff, the facility and it's events. It is a shit show from registration, cashier to race queue area. Manager blamed it all on Corporate and says it's "not her problem" because she can't do anything that that corporate does. How can this person get promoted to be a manager? She admittedly been facing at least 100 complaints throughout the morning but yet she does nothing to resolve issues. She compared her corporate office to be the "government" that does nothing. There is no coordination between the registration, cashier area to the race queue. They do not inform walk-ins that they either have no chance in getting in or at least a 4 hour wait. There is no visible list on who goes when. People who walked in way after us got to race before we did. The race attendant and her manager had absolutely no clue. My patience was wearing thin so to avoid any confrontation, I sent my 10-yr old son to check his place on the queue. I observed the process just to make sure nothing inappropriate happened. The manger responded to my son's inquiry by stating "I'll be wasting a lot of my time if I have to answer questions like yours". I decided to walk to the cashier and informed her that we're done waiting and wanted a refund. The attendant's immediate response was "awesome"; no apology or any resolution offered. Manager eventually authorizes refund and states "what else do you want? You already have your refund ". Did she honestly think that getting the money that already belonged to me was my purpose going yo their facility? No apology for the ruined quality time that I was supposed to have with my boys. Do not come to this place! This place is a SCAM!!! Before you could even purchase the race pass, they tell you that you can't buy the pass without being a member. Everyone needs to be a member before they could purchase the race pass. We had 7 children so we paid $56 before we could even purchase the pass. Next, we had 7 children, all under 16yrs. They put a staff in to race with the kids and the Staff went crazy fast to complete the 12 rounds, at time's striking the edge and one of our children's carts. He completed the 12 rounds in less than 5 mins. We paid over $250 dollars for the kids to ride 5 mins because the Staff was put in there intentionally to rush the kids out. The staff at the front told us that the kids could ride 12 rounds but then later when the race was over, they said, Oh no! It's who ever in the race that gets to 12 laps first. We complained to the staff about putting their own staff into to race with the kids and rushing the kids. The staff was rude and told us that's the guy is not a Staff and he comes and race every night. We saw the guy get on the second race with other people right after us. He's a Staff! The manager came out and told us the same thing the staff said. He was rude and unprofessional! He told us that if we didn't want anyone lease to join us, we should have booked the private party race, meaning pay more! Basically, they cheated us out of our money, lied to us and said too bad! This is the feedback I left on the questionaire they emailed. Figured I'd just copy/paste. The kids had a great time but we found it really unappealing you only cater to parties. We were still PAYING customers as well. We were told it'd be an hour wait because parties were coming in. We agreed and figured the kids could play and eat. Well kitchen wasn't open yet and when it did we went to place an order and it seemed like they were trying to convince us not to order because they "have to do all of the parties food before any one else's so it will probably be an hour." We said fine to that but it's just silly you have no regard for other customers after paying $60 each, buying food and paying at least $100 for the arcade to waste time.** (I found out later my friend spent about $300 total) **Any ways 2.5 hours later we finally went and asked if the kids could race and about 15 mins later they got to do their first race. We would have left after that but we paid for two. Please notify your guests you'll be there for hours if you're not in a huge party or say you only cater to parties. The only reason I put 3 stars is because the kids had so much fun. It would be a really cool place if walk-Ins were treated a bit better. The place wasn't even close to packed. I took my son to this place for karting but on second track, they add a person who was friend of them with higher power and keep asking other to let him pass. I signed up my grandson who is 10 years old at K1 speed in Burbank. Every single time we've come there is no schedule or set time that Junior racers can come in and race. It's literally a crapshoot. The first time we came he was supposed to race twice and after his first race, we waited an additional 20 to 30 minutes and then we're told that there would be no more junior races. The second time we came, we waited again another hour and a half to race and was told there would be no additional junior races. There is no way to book a junior race. There's no set time for junior races. It's literally a crapshoot and it's really hard on a 10-year-old to have to continually make excuses for a business. The company should set times for junior races so parents and grandparents can at least schedule a time that they can take the kids. It's a great experience, but the business model is so poorly run that it makes us not want to come back. You might wanna think about scheduling specific times for junior races on the weekends so people can go online and schedule times to come. Nothing worse than looking at disappointment in a child's eyes. read more

Went today with a party of 3. Registered online in advance. Easy registration process online. Great free parking. First guests of the day. Received prompt attention from the cashier. Prices online were the same as prices in person. The employees responsible for explaining the rules and safety guidelines were friendly, communicated clearly, and were helpful. We had a first timer and the staff patiently helped with helmets and restraints. We purchased 3 races. First 2 were just the 3 of us. Felt like we had a private track experience! Overall: Location--great (parking lot and interior looked great) Staff--awesome (all were friendly, knowledgeable, and had great attitudes) Track--super fun Cost--$226 for a couple of hours of morning fun is quite high. But our group had an amazing time and all agreed it was money well spent. We will go again to the Burbank location very soon! read more

Look I get it technology sometimes doesn't work right. My go kart for one was waaaayyyyy slower than everyone else on the track which meant the guys behind me were just bumping me nonstop. The least they could've done is given me a another free race to compensate or a refund but instead they eat your money regardless, smile and say we will talk to the manager and never get back to you. I love go karting and racing in general so maybe I'm extra competitive but the least they could've done was refund me for the shit experience. TLDR: Good place, bad staff. 8/3/24 @ 10PM My wife and I came here for the first time and I decided to buy us both 3 races. We are both licensed drivers and while I am not a professional, I would not consider myself someone with zero experience. My wife and I have sim-raced enough to follow the racing line and link a whole track at a reasonable pace while following rules and proper racing etiquette. Here's where the issues start. We were warned by a staff member that we would be racing with some of their fastest guys; not a problem. We are both familiar with blue flags (letting the faster driver by) and can do so perfectly fine. During our first race, the host limited our speeds the whole time which lead to us getting passed by everyone, and I mean everyone, not just the faster drivers. People who clearly had less experience taking the wrong line then having to slam their brakes mid corner right after passing us. People who would spin out and stop the race several times because they came in too fast. People who could not pass us without bumping us out of the way DESPITE us driving on the track limit and giving them more than enough space. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and told myself "it's fine, it's our first race here so they wanted to play it safe and ease us into it." Second race, no change. It was fun until we realized what was going on. I was actually put in a cart that was making a loud knocking sound that would get faster as I accelerated. Didn't sound safe at all, but the staff said they were aware of it and have already attempted to address it and that they would NOT do anything else about it. My visor actually broke off mid race too. My wife sat out the third race because she was tired of it. I thought maybe the third race would be different since it was the last race of the night and there were only a few of us on the track. Nothing different. It was in this race actually that I got bumped several times. One of the "faster drivers" that they seem to favor rammed into the back of me hard on a STRAIGHTAWAY because my speed was limited and the host saw but didn't give them any warning. Another regular, who they said was their fastest, rammed me into the barrier coming out of a corner that I could not accelerate any faster out of because the host had limited my speed. I came out wide in order to accommodate him; he had more than enough space to complete the turn and pass without making contact with me and he still rammed me into the barrier right in front of the host's view. It was at this point that I knew they were just catering to the "faster drivers" at my expense. My visor also broke off again mid race; after informing the host, she attempted to blame me for the visor coming off, telling me to "be more gentle with the visor," despite it coming off as a result of the rough pavement in the last corner of the track bouncing it out of place. As much as we tried to convince ourselves that we had fun, we were not happy with our experience here. Despite warning us of the faster drivers, limiting our speeds actually made the track more unsafe for everyone. the speed we were limited to made it inevitable for us to be in the way of EVERYONE, not just the "faster drivers." Additionally, the limit was not constant and as a result we could not make adjustments to accomodate other drivers safely. Despite showing the staff we could race at full speed without causing any issues like the children who had been taken out of several races before us (whose speeds were not limited), no adjustments were made to make the experience better for us. They did not hold the "faster drivers" accountable for their ramming that could have been worse than they turned out. The passive aggressiveness they displayed towards me and my wife were clearly absent when dealing with the "faster drivers" that they seem to favor more. I went on Yelp and was not surprised to see the low rating K1 Speed had. I wish our experience was better. I do not feel that the $150 I paid matched the quality of our experience there. It was such a fun place, only ruined by the staff running it. We came later in the night hoping to avoid the less-experienced and the children who had been recklessly driving and were taken out of the race, but it turns out the children are actually the ones running the place. Very immature, unprofessional and biased. Please, take your business elsewhere if you want to be treated fairly. read more

We had a BAD experience and returned on my daughter's actual birth day at 10am on a Saturday morning as instructed by an employee the week prior. When we arrived, the GM (Joseph) informed us that there were no jr races until later in the afternoon. I explained the situation and he apologized emphatically and accommodated us for the next available jr race. He kept walking over to check on us and update us while we waited to be called to the pit. I understand that weekends can be extremely busy and appreciate Jospeh's help in accommodating us and helping make my daughter's day a special one! read more

I came on a Saturday with a group of friends. We understood that It was first come, first serve, but there was a wait time for everything. There needs to be a system in place where your customers can be notified when it's their turn to race. And they don't even follow their own rules. They specifically said if we were bumping into other racers or being reckless, they would take us out of the race. Nonetheless, they let one girl who was not part of our group continue racing after she had caused three other racers to spin out, which caused the race to be stopped repeatedly. There were only two staff we liked: One helped us put on our seatbelts. He was helpful and repeated instructions. And the guy who explained everything at the beginning. You could tell he was burnt out, but he was trying and joked with us. But the staff with the flags did not enforce the rules. read more

We held our 10 yr olds birthday party here today (on a Sunday 12.18 @ noon) - AMAZING GUEST SERVICE!!!! From booking to the event date. My husband also did a walk thru prior to the party so we could get a feel for how it would go. Sunday morning was perfect. It wasn't busy - kids got signed in easily (I had everyone come 45 mins early) and did the jr. race (they loved it! And the team treated the kids like little VIPs. Definitely an outstanding experience! I wish I could remember everyone's names but truly from the cashier to the guys on the track to the food stand to the manager - EXCELLENT guest service. read more

NEVER book an event with this company. Yes, the actual go-karting may be fun, but trying to host an event with K1 is a literal nightmare. From the sales team (not on site, poor communication, and overbooks so it is impossible for the on site team to handle) to the onsite team (literally cannot handle the events that are booked with them), it was a disaster. I booked a birthday party for my husband and his friends. It was not cheap, but I figured I could kick back and let someone else do the work for once. I ended up having to manage the event myself throughout the whole process, having to physically go to the location to double check information since the sales team could not be reached by email or phone on several occasions. On the day of the event, we did not even receive all of the food we ordered, and then got charged extra for drinks that were meant to be in our package. I could go on, but please be forewarned that you'll be STRESSED OUT and have a terrible time if you book with K1. Also, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and resolve it post-event, and I was IGNORED for almost a month by not only the General Manager of the location but also the Regional Manager. This was after weeks and weeks of follow ups, to give them ample time to respond (I know it's a busy time). This is the kind of company that does not value customer service, but just tries to book quantity over quality. They'll take your money and run. So sad to say, but just DON'T DO IT. read more

Manager Johnny might be the rudest person in a position of supervision I've ever encountered, Blah blah blah no one cares for $30/hr pay but this dude was rolling his eyes at me and making zero coherent sense as I was asking for an explanation on SAFETY. Then he threatened to call the cops because he gets this a lot he says. LOL no wonder! You're bad at your job and running a scam op. He is clearly on drugs or intoxicated. Pills, clearly. Glassy eyes, weird body language. Made me really uncomfortable. His track runners fix the races, period. I have proof from their own printouts and of course Johnny took 15 minutes of tough guy attitude to give me an email to request a refund for my cart being either faulty or tampered with. No worries though. This dude will be running the company in a few years and we'll see him on Undercover Boss like "damn, ain't that Johnny that was fixing races and not caring about his customers experience?" The 5 star review aka monologue only speaks to the service recovery provided by the GM. Pre-ordered my race/registration on line. Which I suggest b/c it'll save you some waiting in line time. It's our first time here and we're THRILLED. We arrived 10min or so after opening. At least one birthday party was already set up inside and getting ready to "roll". It's a Saturday so of course birthday parties by the boat load are expected. If you can swing it, perhaps get you a weekday ride in. But for those with kids, that's like saying the lotto is a sure bet, I get it. Adults and kids can't ride at the same time per the FAQ's on the website so that adds to wait times. We were told that it'd be an hour and a half wait (birthday parties hace priority naturally as they should) in part due to the parties and the fact that time is split between jr rides and adult ride. That was unexpected but the math adds up no worries. I asked the associate if they'd notify us when it's time to race, she said no and advised us to set a timer to be back for an hour, leaving us 30 min grace time. We came back after an hour, and waited long enough to check our spot in line, only to find out our child's race got bumped up earlier than expected and that it'd be another...you guessed it another 1.5hrs. Fuming. The associate was like there's nothing she could do but get the manager. The GM ultimately understood the ball was dropped due to his associate not letting us know that there was a possibility that we'd loose our spot if we left. That would've saved me hours having to wait, and you hours reading this review. Due to the GM's efforts we're surely be back and won't leave a 1 star review. Enjoy the ride folks. read more

My cart ended up dying for half the race, then toward the end of the race an employee came to finally help me but by that time they ended my race. I did talk to the general manager about getting me another race he said they were sold out for the night so I said maybe he could give me a race for next time and he said no because of the by laws. Terrible first experience. It was only three of us, and when we initially paid, they told us it would be one hour and fifteen minute wait. We agreed even though they had no air conditioning and it was hotter inside than it was outside. We waited one hour and a half and then went back to counter only for them to say it would be another hour wait. Needless to say, we requested our refund. The managers never apologized nor offered us to possibly come back on another day, but it seems as if this happens on a normal basis. During my first lap in the race I realized my go kart had a 1-2 second delay before it would brake. I told the employee in the middle of the track 3 different times that my brakes weren't working. Every lap I put my hand up to signal that it's still not working. During turn 1 the person in front of me braked hard and since my brakes had a delay I had to swerve to avoid rear ending this person and went straight into the wall. I signaled to the employee in the middle again that the brakes weren't working and he still ignored me. After the race ended I called to him and he STILL ignored me. So I went to tell his coworkers and THEN he came to say that my "brakes were working". Normally, I never leave reviews for businesses even if I have a bad experience, but this is a safety hazard. Laziness and neglect is absolutely not acceptable at a go karting place where you're going fast. read more

My kart did stop working in the beginning of the race and it was a bit awkward that I was the reason all karts had to stall and stop, but the employee present was able to get it working again. This place is the worst. Went with a group of friends and the workers were rude and obviously just wanted to end their shifts. We were only allowed to do one race because of the time (this makes sense and no one in my group fought this), and the workers kept aggressively telling us we could only do one race even after we all agreed. The "safety" instructions were one minute were I could not hear the instructions despite standing right in front of the worker as the engines were so loud. I also got manhandled by a worker after he said I was taking too long putting my helmet on (the one I grabbed didn't have a clip so I had to change with another). The worker just tilted my head up and snapped me without even asking. The experience could have been fun, but again once I'm in the car with a helmet on over my head piece the worker is shouting instructions that literally no one can hear. They say you go 12 laps but that's a lie I did 9. They arbitrarily slow you down or speed you up so you can't really control your speed or maneuvers. We did two whole laps on slow mode for no reason. Maybe other locations are better, or maybe a time where the workers don't obviously want to go home and do not care. Do not waste your money, way too expensive and workers who are rude, cannot be heard during safety instructions, don't ask or warn before touching, and very disturbingly flirt. read more

Decided to go here Monday evening to enjoy karting with a couple friends. My group and I are completely familiar wit K1, how karting works & all the rules that come with it. I have previously kart-ed once before so Monday was my second time karting at K1 but at a different location. Our party was of 3 so we were grouped with a bunch of other random people for our run group. After a couple laps in to our first race, I'm getting signed by the worker to "Let Pass". Absolutely no problem by me because I'm relatively new & I'm holding others up so I kindly let them pass. At that point, I wasn't after setting lap times but more just learning how to drive the track. After a few more laps, I'm taking a turn and as the turn straightens out this teenage kid bumps me from behind so fast causing my kart to break loose and go nose first into the barrier then because of his speed and how hard the impact was, the front of his kart went two wheels up in the air and proceeded to land on my leg. The worker who saw it all go down told the kid, "what did I tell you about your speed?". Out of frustration, I wobbled my way off the track and sat down in the seating area. Didn't expect any response from the snarky teenager who thinks he's Lewis Hamilton but absolutely no help from the staff. No one checked in/asked me how I was after 20 minutes. If it wasn't for my friend going back in to the establishment and letting the girl at the front desk know what had happened, they wouldn't have even kicked the kid out.
