This was my first time here. I had been wanting to try this for some time and my coworker raves about it so finally tried it and honestly it did NOT DISAPPOINT. The food was fresh and refreshing. Yes refreshing, the type of food that doesn't make u feel shitty after eating it. The spicy chicken with garlic sauce was flavorful. The salad and rice were delicious and the noodles sooo good. I also liked that the teas were unsweetened with Splenda offered. The service was amazing. Im not sure if the young man attending us was the owner but he was very friendly and knowledgable about the food. The restaurant and patio was also very clean which i appreciate. The plate was big. I visited the first week they were open and I really enjoyed the food. Everything was very fresh and tasty. The staff were super nice and took the time to explain the items offered for those with questions. The inside is very basic but modern and clean. They have a very nice large shaded patio which I really think is great for the area. We dined in and took a plate to go for my daughter. The packaging was great and appreciated. This town needs a lot more food diversity, and was long overdue for a kebab shop, so I was very excited for this place to open. The wait was...kinda worth it. It's not spectacular, the menu is not nearly as exciting as the website had led me to believe, and it's way over priced. The staff and managers have been super friendly the times I've visited, though, and the food is decent. Staff is friendly but this place isn't even close to good. Chicken is smothered in sauce to cover up how dry it is. Beef is terrible. Rice tasted like box rice. Every side is dry. Pita sits so long it's like pita chips. Cheese burak is Horrible. This is not Mediterranean food. Chicken was tender and flavorful and the accompanying fattoush salad was very fresh. Based on this dish alone, I'd give this place a 5* rating. The vegetarian plate was ok. Falafel was a bit dry and the plate was missing some of the advertised items. The DoorDash menu said it came with rice pilaf and pocket bread, neither of which we received. Based on this dish, I'd give this place a 3* rating. Overall, this is a solid option in Merced and one of few good options for delivery. My wife and I have been waiting for the traffic to slow down (as a new restaurant in town) before coming to try and we weren't disappointed. The whole ordeal from walking in to sitting down and enjoying the food was really fast. We were greeted by Catrina, whom was extremely helpful in guiding us through the "bar." Her recommendation was perfect! For those of you that's wondering, we got the [spicy] chicken and beef plate. Delicious!!! We were then passed over to Markus to add toppings to our plates. The garlic sauce that came with the plate is absolutely flavorful and adds the extra oomph to the meal. The toppings I added to my plate were the bell peppers and onions, jalapeños, olives and pepperoncinis. Let me tell you, the plates were HEAVY and LOADED!! They seriously packed enough food for our lunches tomorrow. Food was extremely flavorful and delicious. I'm not a huge fan of salad, but the salad was very good. Chicken was juicy, tender and full of flavor. The beef was cooked just right (about medium-well) and extremely tender and flavorful. Now, let's move to seating. You have the choice of sitting inside the lobby or outside; we opted to sit outside and enjoy the weather. The ambiance was perfect with music playing in the background with the perfect lighting. We were planning on going inside and telling the staff about how delicious the food was, but Catrina had come outside to check on us and the food. We had explained to her earlier that this was our first time trying Mediterranean food, so it was refreshing to have someone check to see how we were enjoying the food. The owner, Tony, was making his way to check on guests and we talked a little about the customer service and food. Not your usual fast casual restaurant, Kabab City has fresh, delicious Mediterranean food with a variety of options regardless of one's food preferences. Between the two of us we ordered a wrap, fattoush salad and falafel and nothing disappointed. The staff was friendly, the service prompt and the restaurant clean. Loved the option of an outdoor patio as well. It's like the Mediterranean version of chipotle, with options to customize your main dish and hearty portions-but better!!! This place gave us one of the better dining experiences in quite a long time. We ordered two shawarma wraps, salad, and beef kebab plate. Everything was fast and ready to go quickly. The food was delicious, although I only had very little since the kids ate everything up. Best part: one of the staff, might've been the owner or boss, he was ringing me up and saw me staring at the hummus. Didn't order any extra hummus, but he came out with a bowl of hummus and some pita bread since he noticed I was eyeing it. The service is fine and seating area is clean. It feels like a fast food place. The outdoor area needs SOME kind of shade to block sun and street noise. It's not a pleasant seating area. The food is okay, I guess. The meat is disappointingly dry. No amount of flavorful sauce could make up for the chalk texture of the chicken kebab! The falafel is good but the salad is strangely bland, for being so oily. Even the vegetables are cooked to mush without spices so, just bland fibres on top of it. We were so excited when Merced got a Mediterranean restaurant but ... I guess we'll still be going out of town for good kebab. read more

This was my 3rd visit.Amazing experience. until today. With each visit I have been trying something new. I decided to try a spicy chicken wrap. So disappointed. The wrap must've been old. As soon as I got home, it totally disintegrated. It was not edible. The pieces of chicken were also huge. Trying to salvage the meal. I spent $18 on. I attempted to dissect the sandwich, which was a crumbled mess. I chopped the chicken into smaller pieces and scraped what I could from the disgusting pita wrap. So disappointed. But when I went to order from the paper menu I had picked up, none of the scrumptious beautiful dinners shown on their website are offered - such as Lamb Shank, Lamb Chops, Kabab City Bowl, not even Shawarma!! Again, Merced gets the short end of the stick. But the person who answered the phone was extremely pleasant and apologetic. Stars for great customer service skills! Tried out Kabab City today and was so disappointed. When I placed my order I had to repeat it several times. Chicken Kabab. Ordered add-ons and was repeatedly asked if I wanted sides. No, I wanted add-ons to try out before I buy. The salad had an odd dressing on it. The meat, pita bread were dry. The rice tasted worse than boxed rice and had no flavor. Did not try the Baklava. The Baba ghanoush was over spiced and super salty. I agree with other reviews that they need to get their seasoning right on all their food. Either under seasoned or over seasoned. The food is unbelievable! I love their hummus, not a huge fan of the tomatoes in them but it's super easy. Just scoop it out with a spoon.. and honestly I'll leave them in a lot of the time. Pretty good price for a full bowl of hummus, a plate with amazing portions, more than willing to hook it up on the pita bread, which is outstanding pita bread. And above all the staff is unbelievably friendly. More than willing to let you taste the sauce of certain things you've never tried. I love how this place has a chipotle set up style. I've been to a few other of their chains and they are not set up this way.. I live in Sonora, so anytime I'm headed down south for work. This will be my place to stop for sure. Highly recommend it.
