Ate there last night. The food was OK and the service was pretty good. Certainly wouldn't order the mixed kabob again, although it's unlikely I'll ever come back. First of all, we were a group of 9 people with 5 separate bills. While I understand the addition of a large party "surcharge", when paying on their remote credit card reader, it wasn't clear that I was already paying an 18% tip. As a result, the server ended up with almost 30%. Service might have been worth 18% but not 30%, My biggest issue is that about half way through the meal I realized the server was wearing a pro Palestine t-shirt. Had I noticed that when we first walked in I would have walked right back out the door. People are free to believe whatever they want but there is no place for something like that in a business environment. Can't believe I'm the only patron who has been offended. Allowing a server to wear something like this, which is very divisive, demonstrates a serious lack of judgement by the management and/or ownership of this company. read more

They are owned by the same people that own Shisha Café (which also offers superb food, btw, and is right next door). The food choices seem the same, but this place is a bit more upscale. Not overly fancy or expensive, but it just has a newish vibe and décor to it. For the appetizer, we ordered Arayees ($6.99). It's flame grilled pita bread filled with ground meat and spices. The spices they seasoned it with were the perfect balance and gave it a wonderful taste. They had just a *hint* of spiciness to them. But, since they are supposed to be flame grilled, I expected them to be a little toasty and crisp. Instead, they were a little on the soft/soggy side. Again, very tasty, just know what you are getting into. The Beef Tika ($17.99) was the best item ordered that day. I'm not sure what cut of meat it was, but these "marinated beef medallions" as described on the menu were perfectly cooked, very tender, and the marinade they used was like OMG! It was served with grilled tomato, onions, and rice on the side. The second entrée was the Mixed Kebab Plate ($11.99) with byrani rice. This plate includes one ground chicken skewer, and one ground beef skewer. The chicken skewer had awesome seasoning, but the beef skewer was lacking in seasoning. The ground beef skewer didn't have a whole lot of flavor. It really reminded me of bland meatballs. The service was great, the place is very clean, modern, and almost on the chic side of things. Karachi Grill is unique. It's bigger than what you expect walking in the doors and brace yourself because it is also a hookah bar so there's smokers all around. The menu for the food offerings is vast. So many tasty choices, but I controlled myself and ordered a ground beef kabob sandwich with a side order of hummus and french fries because I have been craving that meal. This was a good choice and I went back the next day to order a platter of Middle Eastern dips and fresh baked pita to take to a party. The fresh baked pita bread is helluva good! It is the size of a platter and it's served hot from the oven. I can't wait to go back and get some more of that bread and try several of their other dishes including the grilled chicken. Although I don't like smoke, I like this restaurant. There's indoor and outdoor seating and you get the sense that this is just a good place to sit, order some food and drinks and have a long conversation with a few good friends. The service is slow, but friendly, and no one rushes you to do anything here. So if you're like me and you don't enjoy being around smoke, go to the patio area, sit back, relax and nosh on some really good Middle Eastern eats and try some fresh fruit juices or one of the smoothies. read more

Tonight was my turn to pick our weekly date night spot so I hopped on Yelp to find a new to us place. Kababchi Grill was the first place to pop up so off we went.... They do have a sign on the door saying they are short staffed so keep this in mind. The first thing that caught our eyes was the charcoal grill framed in glass. We had never seen that before. They had all kinds of different meats cooking at once and you couldn't even smell the smoke in the restaurant. We were already impressed. Everything was fresh,hot and delicious! The food didn't sit long after it was plated so it came to the table hot. Our glasses were never empty and the staff all had smiles the whole time we were there. Looking for something new, stumbled across this hidden gem. Upon arrival I didn't notice that there were two different seating areas. Lol after sitting in the outdoor sitting area, honestly I was ready just to take my food to go. I then realized an indoor sitting area, with quite a bit of customers. On the entrance door there is a sign that summons the worker shortage and to please be patient. I then explain to the waitress that my food was to go but that I would like to stay and eat. The waitress was very accommodating & assured me she would bring my food. Literally minutes later, received the most perfect plate of food. That stoled my stomach and heart. What was most delightful was, that the food was absolutely amazing and perfected with spices. So perfect no additional salt or pepper was necessary. I don't know all the details in the chicken Shawerma much less the Mediterranean salad that seems to simple. Yet so delicious. The hummus was smooth like butter. For a place with pretty good food, they have terrible service. They definitely need to hire more people and train the 1 guy they have serving better. We ordered the $55 family meal, a gyro sandwich and baklava. The meal came with free bread and oil at the beginning. For most of our meal we were the only ones eating in the restaurant. Yet he didn't check on us other than when the food was being delivered. Once we were done eating, about four other tables were sat. He proceeded to serve and take orders from every table before giving us our check. Kept going back and forth getting their drinks and utensils. We waited an extra 25 minutes before getting our check. That's very unacceptable. Learn to prioritize or multitask, man. As for the food, all the dishes taste pretty good. The gyro doesn't have lettuce but has pickles. I found that different. Lamb meat was the highlight of the meal. I ate so much of the bread. I probably wouldn't come back here based on the bad service alone. read more

The first time we came here, we wanted to try a bit of everything, so we ordered the Family Kabab Platter - it came with salad, hummus, a HUGE bread, fries, biryani rice, 2 beef kababs, 2 chicken kababs, chicken tikka, and mix of beef and lamb tikka, as well as some delicious char-grilled tomatoes! This is our second visit and our first one was pre-Covid. We don't live in San Antonio so we don't get to visit as often as we like. I do have to say that if you go here, you have to have the Iraqi eggplant salad. It was phenomenal. And we ate it with the freshest Naan/bread. We both got the chicken Chicken Kofta Plate with biryani rice. It was very good and I've never seen this offered at any other restaurant. It is ground chicken formed into a kebab, and my guess would be there might be some lamb in it however, it didn't say that on the menu. In any event, it was delicious. The rice was so flavorful and so aromatic that I wanted to know what spices I was tasting. The Turkish coffee was very good but not the best I've had. I did have to add some sugar to it because it was a bit bitter but once the sugar was in and it cooled off a little it was very good. We had great service as well. Definitely give this place a try. There are so many more appetizers to choose from that we will have to try a new one next time. And I know next time I'm going to get the chicken breast kebabs. read more

I stopped in for lunch with my buddy and I ordered the chicken shawarma with fries and my friend ordered the gyro with fries. I liked the thinner wrap used on my shawarma and the fact it was toasted to a light crunch (personal preference). The chicken was tender and seasoned well. The fries were hot, crunchy and plentiful. My friend said he liked his gyro and fries as well. Our server was very friendly and attentive and made sure our drinks were never less than half full. Overall, good meal at a good price. Based on their setup and from how they accommodated our group, they are used to catering to large groups. We we're impressed with the wide variety of options from their menu. It was hard to make a decision, so we decided to get the meat platter and add a separate order of lamb chops. Their Beef and Chicken Kofta and Tikka we're amazing! The meat were all very tender, juicy, and tasty. They mastered the art of grilling meat. To top it off, their food are all reasonably-priced. What a feast for lovers of Mediterranean food! A foodie friend posted pictures of her kebabs and we decided to try it, too. We enjoyed so many flavors of meats and veggies, with fresh ingredients and savory seasonings. The first thing they brought us was an enormous, steaming hot flatbread. We tore off chunks and dipped it in seasoned olive oil. We enjoyed the tall, clear glass that the hot tea came in. For an appetizer, we ordered a sampler with labneh (yogurt dip), hummus, baba ganoush (eggplant dip), eggplant salad, a cucumber-yogurt dip, and pita chips, topped with olives and parsley. It was such a variety of fresh flavors and textures from creamy to crispy. We also ordered a chopped salad made with cucumber and tomatoes. The meats are cooked on skewers over hot coals. We tried a plate of beef and lamb, and also a kebab plate with chicken and beef. The beef kebabs were especially well seasoned, and the lamb skewers were so tender. We had no room for dessert, but the baklava looked very tempting. The atmosphere is a mix of cultures. During our lunch, one TV was showing an NBA game in English and another TV was showing soccer in Arabic. I've had this place bookmarked for a little while, and finally had the opportunity to go here on a Friday night as part of a group of three. The three of us ordered a mixed dip plate, a beef kabob with salad, and a grilled meat special with french fries. Our waitress brought out the complimentary pita/naan/flatbread... to be honest I'm not sure what the correct name for it is, but it is so good. Then the mixed dip plate came out as an appetizer along with warak inab (stuffed grape leaves), and I hadn't had most of those dips before. But boy were they life changing. Labneh, jajeek, baba ghanouj, hummus, and Iraqi eggplant salad. The baba ghanouj is something that I dream about now as well as the Iraqi eggplant salad. The eggplant had a tiny bit of spice to it that made you want more and more. Then our entrees of beef kabob and grilled meat special (lamb tikka and beef tikka) came out hot and delicious. The beef tikka was a bit tought to cut, but that's normally how that meat goes. The lamb tikka was extremely tender and charred on the outside to perfection, and the fries were pipping hot with that nice golden fried outside and hot potato inside. The beef kabob (kofta) was also a tantalizing treat for the taste buds, and all of the entrees were served with red onions, a grilled tomato half, and a small side of hummus. Came here after a long day at Six Flags. Parties that came in at the same time as us were able to be seated way before us, we roughly waited 15 minutes for a table because we were a group of 6. We ordered the Kabab Family Platter and one order of Baba Ghanoush. The Baba Ghanoush was so amazing and full of flavor! However, we didn't get to eat it until we got our dinner because the waiter never brought out our naan until way after. This was disappointing because we ordered it as an appetizer. The rest of the food was pretty decent, but it wasn't the best Mediterranean food I've ever had so I'm deducting one star there. The only rice they offered was "Biryani Rice" and it didn't go well with the platter at all. I'm also deducting a star for service. The waiter only refilled our waters towards the end when we had already finished eating, which was annoying. Also, they only had flimsy plastic utensils which had one thin napkin in it for each person to use. It was hard to cut up some of our meat with these plastic utensils. The kabab platter came with no serving spoon or fork, which made it difficult for everyone to spoon out their portions. Overall, this place was good, but not the best. read more

The kabobs were so soft and flavorful, the toom was out of this world and better than any other garlic/white sauce from halal places, and the hummus was just like the ones in the Middle East. Thinking of Mediterranean/Middle-eastern food, Kobabchi Grill is a great option other than Pasha and the likes. The place does not look extremely fancy that would intimidate regular diners, and that's a good thing. No need to dress up fancy just to enjoy the good food here. Upon entering the restaurant waiting for the hostess to seat us, we were greeted with the delicious aroma of chicken being cooked on charcoal grill, and yet we don't smell like smoke or burning barbecue since it was enclosed completely in a glass window, thank God their ventilation/exhaust system is very good. Love the Mediterranean salad I ordered, the simple oil and vinegar dressing which is basically Italian dressing was upgraded with hints of some Middle-eastern flavor/spices. We also ordered hummus on the side and it comes with the freshly made bread, our very nice server Mariana gave us two pieces of bread, it's very good! We have the Half Char-Grilled chicken with biryani rice and it was very flavorfully tasty and delicious. The servings is huge and food is filling, we even have a lot of leftovers to take home. I would delve back here for more deliciousness and freshly grilled and prepare Mediterranean/Middle-eastern food. By the way Shisha Cafe is just next door, they actually owned Kobabchi Grill. They have a lot of assorted candies and confectionery selections and some pastries too. Maybe next time it would be nice to try some coffee with their tempting pastry selections. read more
