Great service and food. We all got the Thali and they were delicious. Our server, Abbi, was very nice and welcoming. He was patient with us as we explored the many options on the menu. Overall a great experience and we will be coming back soon. Recommended! 5/25/17 Wednesday: Went to dinner with a friend on Wednesday. We sat on the first floor, which was undergoing some construction. It was a little bothersome and distracting with the noise. If still going on, would recommend requesting seating upstairs if possible. Our server, James D, was awesome! Very friendly, gave us great recommendations, and our water was always filled. The food was excellent as always. Overall a great night aside from the construction. read more

The Tandoori Shrimp meal was so good it brightened up my whole day! I ordered in via DoorDash and I've got to say this is the most memorable meal I've had delivered in my life. Love coming to this place! The menu has a variety of meat and vegetarian options. I usually get vegetarian but tonight my boyfriend got the Mango Mint Chicken and it was so good. Would definitely consider getting this meal in the future. I got some sort of curry with pomegranate- because of the fruit, I assumed it would be sweet.. but it was very spicy and there was no mention of that on the menu. Be warned if you are like me and very sensitive to spice! We also got naan, the garlic naan (which I usually get because I love garlic) and the paneer cheese naan. I had never had the latter but it was good! Not a strong taste but paired well with all the sauces. Highly recommend for delicious Indian food, and great service & location! read more

Some of the worst Indian food I've ever had. 4 completely different curries which all ended up having the same sauce base. Naan bread was out of a packet and tasted so bland. Service was just mediocre. One thing I will say is the manager was very apologetic and tried his hardest to please us. Ambiance was poor. read more

The food was average at best, they condensed the rice for two orders into one container. They dont allow indoor eating if its over 1 order. They didnt put any napkins in the stapled bag. Just an all around bad experience. What a shame. read more

We had lunch for 5. The seating is cozy enough, I.e., its cramped. The restaurant was rather empty, so we were promptly seated. Food- we ordered a variety of dishes. The lunch menu pairs a main with rice or naan, your choice. Since I'm writing this a day after we dined here, I don't remember what everyone had. But, all around, plates were empty and everyone expressed that there dishes were very good. I had the vegetable biriyani and a cup of masala chai tea. The biriyani was very well spiced and had large cuts of vegetables to replace the protein. A nice touch. I'd highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Really should have tried harder to find something more local. The food was decent and service was friendly. Good portions too. We had the chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, mango curry vegetables, naan, and rice. All good. I can see how this could be a good place to take the family when they're visiting you at Brown. Great Indian food, but the atmosphere leaves something to be desired. I have been to Kabob and Curry twice. Once was a Saturday with a large group. We had reservations so getting a table wasn't an issue but the place is small and they really cram people in there. Waiting at the bar felt awkward and like we were in the way of the people trying to enjoy their meals. We were then seated upstairs and crammed into a corner table. It was loud, and hard to move around. The food was good and service decent but the over all experience wasn't great. The second time we went was a cold Sunday evening, and was a totally different experience. There weren't many people there so it was much more comfortable and the food was great! I got a lamb curry and the chili onion naan. I wasn't a fan of the two together, but both were great on their own. Lamb was tender and juicy...so good. In summary, good food but unless you like feeling claustrophobic while you eat, I'd avoid the place on busy weekend nights. read more

It was an average meal overall. We ordered the Veggie Samosa, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Cauliflower 65. The best dish by far was the cauliflower appetizer which tasted like buffalo chicken wings in sweet and spicy sauce-- definitely a must-order. The samosas were alright, not particularly amazing or memorable. The tikka masala was very tomato-y (almost like a creamy Italian alla vodka tomato sauce) and didn't have much body or spice. The chicken was cubed and breast meat instead of thigh meat, which isn't my personal preference but I'm definitely picky. read more

Great lamb samosas! I like that they provide 2 different sauces along with it. The lamb roganjosh wasn't so great on the other hand. The meat wasn't good and the curry was nothing similar to what I've had before and didn't taste that great. Incredibly fast take out service, my order was ready in 10 min which is good. Their rice and breads are good. Overall 3.5 stars, the food tastes better if eaten the next day. read more

I don't even know how to start this one. Having you go-to Indian place is a key part of living in any city. After leaving NYC, I wasn't sure I'd find one in PVD. In comes a Kabob and Curry Take-out menu. Pillow soft naan, korma with big chunks of chicken and mushrooms. Honestly, sometimes we just order 3 servings of the cauliflower. They have such great Indian food here. I've tried the chicken tikka masala, biriyani, chicken curries, the giant stuffed dosas, samosas, naan, and other yumminess. It's my favorite Indian restaurant in RI! I've eaten here as well as getting take-out, and the food is NEVER disappointing. Prices are cheap and service is great. It's definitely my top choice for Indian restaurants in RI, and I'm willing to go out of my way to make a trip there whenever I have a craving ;-) read more

So good! I've loved Indian food for over a decade and then I married an Indian man, so I've had my fair share of good Indian food in my day. I got the Thali feast which was a great deal. It's a sampler platter with a large variety of options from their menu. It came with two veggie pakora (or could choose samosa), chana masala, dal, two curries (I got the malai kofta and saag paneer), rice, naan, and dessert (today was rice pudding). It was small portions of each, but total was still a ton of food for just $15. It was a great way to try a lot of items and would be a good option for those new to Indian food. I went with all vegetarian options but you don't have to. Service was great, nice sunlight in the restaurant. I'm only in town for a few days for work but if I get the chance to go back in the future I will!! read more

Kabob & Curry was my first Indian food experience and I don't think I'll be able to go anywhere else now, according to all the great Yelp reviews and in accordance with my own experience. Note: If you like Sangria, get the carafe. You can get about 4.5 glasses for $11 bucks! We went with six people and got: Appetizers: Combo Appetizer platter, stuffed homemade cheese naan, garlic naan and pesto naan. Note: Pesto Naan was the best! Food: Chicken Tikka Masala (4 of us), Tandoori Chicken & The Fish Curry. We were all out for our first Indian food experience. Out of the four people who got the Chicken Tikka Masala, only one person didn't like it. The Tandoori Chicken was great, but if I had to choose a least favorite, that would be it. I don't even like fish, but the Fish Curry was deeelicious and incredibly flavorful. If I went back. I'd probably get the Chicken Tikka Masala again with some Pesto Naan. If I was with a group, I'd definitely get the combo appetizer again too. read more

Kabob and curry is one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been too. It may not be totally authentic, but it's 100% delicious. I've stopped here many a time for a treat yoself meal, and it's definitely my favorite place on college hill. My regular order is the chicken saag with pea and potato naan. I don't even know what they put in their saag but it is so, so delicious. You wouldn't believe spinach can taste so good. The p&p naan is like a mashup between naan and a samosa, and it's just awesome and perfect for dipping into curry. Their samosas are also incredibly satisfying, with crunchy fried shells stuffed fat with a potato/vegetable mixture and accompanied by three dipping sauces. Student groups also frequently get K&C catering for events, and everything I've tried is very yummy. As for service, it can be a little slow sometimes, so don't come here if you're in a rush. However, they do give you a complimentary crispy cracker/bread with the same three sauces as the samosas to sate you as you wait. The seating is a bit cramped as well, but K&C still maintains a nice, colorful vibe. Do check this place out if you're on Thayer! read more

We wanted to try something new so when we looked in our entertainment book we had a coupon for Kabob and Curry. It seemed like a whole in the wall of Thayer Street but we were pleasantly surprised. We started with mango juice a samosas which were huge and rich with flavor. We then ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Korma with basmati rice. These were super delicious along with the garlic cilantro naan, which I wish I ordered some to go for a snack later. The portions were perfect allowing me to bring some home and have it for lunch on Monday. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for delicious and soul warming food. read more

I'm sure during the apocalypses (COVID19) is very stressful for many businesses. But that is no excuse for making a customer feel like a burden for using your business. I called the restaurant today to make sure that they are still allowing pick up. i was overjoyed to hear that they were and asked if i could place my order over the phone, since i was already talking to the man. The gentleman responded with by sucking his teeth and asking "over the phone?!". when i said yes i was put on hold for 5 minutes (completely understand the hold). When the man came back i was rushed to leave an order and was cut off every time i tried to talk. the only time the man patiently waiting for a response was when he asked me how much i was leaving for a tip. after the order was placed I was told they will need 20 minute and to call when i arrived. When i arrived i parked in front of the restaurant and called as instructed. The man answered and begin to say something, but it was very muffled and i couldn't make out what it was. When i tried to ask him to repeat it, he hung up the phone. I waited in my car looking at the door, in case someone were to come out and wave me down. but instead i received a call a few minutes later. where the man rudely asking me why i wasn't waiting where he instructed me to be. then began to lecture me about social distancing. When i tried to apologize i was again hung up on. At the door the rudeness continued as the man made it very clear he was not happy with me. even when i told the man to "have a good day" i received a unpleasant "yup" before he let the door close behind him. read more

We haven't been there in years, we were in the mood for Tandori so off we went. First the restaurant was too cold and the King Fishers beer was warm. :(. Disappointed that everything was served on paper plates and plastic cups. The Nan didn't taste fresh, it was really a shame because back in the day the restaurant was great. We came here over Saturday for dinner and ordered the lamb biryani, chicken keema and dal tadka for the 3 of us. Not being used to really spicy food, we ordered medium spice and it was just right! If you're looking for a nice home cooked indian meal with not too much emphasis on ghee, fried food and oil then this is the best place I can think of. We also had the malai kulfi and it was too die for - kept smacking our lips till the last bite. There are two levels of - we sat above - I feel the ambience below is slightly better but would recommend coming a bit early especially on the weekend as this gets crowded very quickly. The spiciest samosas I've ever had! I ordered takeout and I must say Everything was more than warm when I began to indulge. I had three all veggie dishes and none failed to amaze me. I like the low lit casual atmosphere of this little spot with the faint tunes of East Indian music playing in the background. Everything was excellent including the service. I also had the pleasure of having a Providence IPA (Tri City). The ingredients taste so fresh, and they give you the opportunity to salt your own food. There are three dipping sauces: one kind of sweet, a red spicy onion concoction and mint chutney. The lentil soup is a puree bursting with flavors. The pakora (cauliflower, potatoes, onion, spinach and chickpeas crispy fried) is great with the dipping sauces. When I return to RI, I wouldn't mind returning here. yum yum yum read more

Made our way down to Kabob and Curry for the first time today! The downstairs dining area is small, but we were seated right away, and it appears they have more seating upstairs. It was a bit difficult to hear in the downstairs area, as well. They have a nice selection of drinks and food, and had my go to: Chicken Korma. And they have new Teapot menu which is very intriguing. It is a small place and kind of cramped. But make no mistake, it is the charm of this place, rather than an inconvenience. The cozy intimate feeling it gives makes it stand apart from other usual restaurants. It is relatively inexpensive to dine here but they havent sacrifcied much on food quality for the low price. Kebabs are made very good. Shrimp Balcho is OK. Biriyani is nice. The owner of the restaurant is defintely adapting to the trends. I saw a Rewards program and an App called Indian RI that gives some discounts to dine here. Well done!! read more

We tried a bunch of appetizers (wings, Indian fries, and kebab) as well as the baingan bharta which is a delicious eggplant dish. It came with rice. Spice level was good. Next time we want to try more entrees. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They checked in on us often and made sure our water glasses were always filled. Prices are reasonable. We definitely plan to return to try more items!

Inside is small but has some seatings and bar available. We ordered mango lassi, pepper chicken tikka, garlic and cilantro naan, cauliflower 56, and chicken lababnar. Mango lassi is delicious as expected. Appetizers were excellent including tender pepper chicken tikka and flavorful cauliflower 56. Garlic and cilantro naan is chewy and tasty. Chicken lababnar was bit different than chicken tikka masala i'm used to. Its creamy and tomato base like tikka masala but didn't have the deep flavor that most tikka masala have. Service was good but my utensil was dirty. Waiter did quickly changed them for me though. Overall, food is good. Appetizers were excellent. Service is ok. Price is reasonable for Indian food. Not bad Indian restaurant in the area.

The butter chicken is apparently well loved and I tried it twice - once takeout, and once in the restaurant; my eleven year old told me it is her favorite chicken dish ever, FWIW. The drinks were served in cut crystal coupe glasses with a small edible flower floating on top, and they tasted as good as they looked. For food, we went with the Chili Cauliflower and the Dal Makhani. The cauliflower came out crispy in all the right ways, each floret holding its texture under a sticky, lightly sweet heat with a bit of tamarind that shines right through; tangy, a little smoky, deeply savory. The Dal Makhani was exceptional. The lentils were cooked with real intention, not reduced to mush but offering just a slight pop, and the overall flavor was rich and complex in a way that made it hard to put the naan down. Speaking of which, the garlic naan (sans cilantro, seeing as my partner has the gene where it tastes like soap) arrives charred and pillowy in equal measure, loaded with bits of fresh garlic. The service matched everything else. We were greeted warmly, and the staff genuinely seemed interested in getting to know us rather than just moving us through. That kind of rapport is rare and, when you find it, you notice. A spot we love to visit whenever we are in the area, and for good reason.
